There were some awesome sets by Stacey Pullen..Terrence Parker, a couple
awesome sets by Felix the Housecat..also Evil Eddie Richards

UPDATE..I just found the sets on the plus8.com and I wanted someone to

2000-11-25 Thread Shawn Hatfield
I'm still alive and kickin. I am currently working on 2 albums which
hopefully should
be ready by Springtime of 2001. 1 album will be experimental 4/4 stuff
along the
lines of my previous releases but now with the help of Max/Msp. so it
should definately have
a diff sound than my previous stuff. The other album will be experimental
ambient and
hopefully will be a Mille Plateux release if all goes as planned. Just
released an ambient track
on Jake Mandells 'Kodama' series. You can get info about that at
www.primedeep.com There's a new
Force Inc. comp out now called MetaMusic with myself and the rest of the
Force Crew. And
I just finished a remix of Kid606 'where we left off' for ForceLab ( a sub
label of Force )

Thanx for caring about little ol me stuck in california ;-)

hey,

There was another version of this record called the final dominator

featured Rich Hawtin and Damon Wild remixes among others. I gave this
record to steve lammers awhile ago, he might have more info.

this is going to be a hard record to track down, weren't there about a
million remix 12's of this track. It takes me back to when I first
semi-discovered techno through a simon reynolds article on hardcore in
an issue of Details in 92. That track was the jam when I was about 15.

Sonicnet.com wrote 8 articles of which I don't have the direct URLs, but
if you search for 'detroit' in their music archives section, they'll
show up.

And there's of course the TechnoTourist report :)
http://technotourist.org/demf.html

(links to the audio and video files at
groovetech of course) and i know it is very early to say - who might be at
next year's event, information on getting to and around Detroit, where to
stay, what to see, what record shops to visit, where to guest dj

I'm working on it, I'll post something to the list in a few weeks for

Hmmm, the TechnoTourist Guide to Detroit? Lonely Planet watch out! :)

(i know some Adelaide (South Australia) people are interested
in going to it next year).

Yep, quite a few 313-members that I met on my holiday there were
seriously thinking about it and let's face it: after last year, how can
you afford to miss next year's edition? Might be a nice competition to
see if there will be more Ozzies or Dutchies :)

Anyway, this gives me an opportunity to give big thanks to the 313.au

Re: [313] DOMINATOR/Chi-towners would know

2000-11-25 Thread Matthew L. Thompson
You are looking for what's known as the Re-remix of Dominator by Human
Resource. It is on the RS label. The version you're looking for is NOT on
the The Final Dominator Remixes 12... I know because I have that one as
well. The catalog number for this vinyl should be RS 9139. This is the
version they used to spin in Chicago on the radio mix shows (B96, etc)... my
copy is dated by Gramaphone's price sticker as 4/92. If you spot it in a
record bin, it's easily identified because it has a black label on one side
with Human Resource/Dominator/Re-Remixes over and over and over again on
it in white print... same thing on the flip side except white with black
print.

I'd be surprised if the folks at Gramaphone or Hot Jams weren't familiar
with it, perhaps Hiphouse as well. It's not easy to find, although I would
probably try Hot Jams first, as they have quite a selection of used techno
imports there. Good luck

I can usually get what I want at oriental health spas, but this vicks
thing sounds really really interesting. BTW, I know what bar
hoochies are (really the only reason I go out at night) but what
does rolling mean? Are they rolling their own cigarettes?

its people like you that cause this stuff to die out.
  Not viks and glowsticks..

Yeah, I agree. Well, maybe not with the glowsticks, but for sure
with the viks! Especially for chest-aches and colds!

Don't ever think that viks will cause this stuff to die out (to
quote Mike D). It really can only help the sick feel better!

Sorry, but I posted this a while back. Can anyone tell me what the EXACT
release # that was on an RS Human Resource Dominator REMIXES 12 that,
I
believe, was labeled black and white with just Dominator written over and
over on the label? The particular remix I'm looking for was huge in
Chicago
circa 91-92 and was spun by everyone from DJ Ping(remember him?), Bad Boy
Bill(Hot Mix #13), Julian Perez, etc, etc. I have purchased so many
different releases of this track and cannot find the one I want. ITS
VERY
HARD-Dom Dom Dom DOMINATOR- THE DOMINATOR-Dom Dom DOMINATOR the DOMINATOR
I'm the one, I'm the one, I'm the one and only Dom Dom DOMINATOR-THE
 DOMINATOR.AAA!

2000-11-25 Thread Chris Shulgan
rather than rolling in my 5.0 with my ragtop down so my hair can blow, I
think the kind of rolling mentioned here is a slang term for being on
MDMA. At least, that's what it means in Windsor -- it comes from the way
your eyes roll around independently of one another.

I think this is Jeff Mills - Tomorrow 1. And I've heard that the interview is
with Ben Sims, but don't know if that's true or not.

 theories revolve around this...

Does anyone know who or what this interview pertains to? I would like to
know what the exact interview is, and where is it. I don't care if its a
recording or a transcript, in case Richie wants to keep it a secret, that's
fine by me, I am just interested in the words...

also, in his live @ little further 99 set, and I think the barcelona set,
there is a common record that he uses at the beginning area (for about 15
minutes or so). Its a relentless rhythmic slammer, but has this wonderful
dark guitarish stab that appears very rarely, sounds Adventy or Oliver Ho,
its worked the best in little further, anyone know??

 Thanks in advance,

Peace..

Can anybody tell me what Merrick Brown and Andrei Morant are up to?
Merrick was doing his thing out of Austin and his little label-Tektite
released some really decent EP's..Is Tektite still alive?
Now..as far as Andrei Morant goes..I still find this man to be one of the
most underrated figures in techno..for those that dont know him, he released
some EP's on PR/UK and also releases under the name of Jack
Mackrel(Template)..If I am not mistaken..he is also a half of Gaag (Glenn
Wilson/Andrei Morant)?..very consistent as a DJ and producer.
