Greetings All, I recently picked up Derrick May's latest mix up cd, and it featured a classic track that I was never able to ID from Convextion. This track absolutely floors me every time i hear it. UR did a few tracks for that:) Dego and Marc have been involved with detroity things for a looong time and have pretty strong feelings and heavy involvement with the scene... and pushing things forward... I've not heard anything by them that's ever disappointed me:) So 2000 Black and jazzbeat as a whole is definitely hugely 313 relevant:) later, Nick (Dj Pacific:) Ps. I heard about that Tom and J thing through Titonton... supposedly doing a remix for them... I know Dego was involved with the Ele_mentals in Columbus at one point and NuEra released something on 21/22:) Anyway, I'll find out the label if you want... I think it's a label called Foreplay... RE: [313] equipment
I've been able to get some really nice sounds like that out of my Yamaha AN1X, but you can get those sorts of sounds with pretty much any analogue/virtual analogue synth. The secret lies in the filtering and effects you use. I like the AN1x because the onboard effects can really be pushed and abused to compliment the sounds. the opera is not only a opera, but its a cycle of 7 operas , everyones called as a day of the week. he finished working on "sunday" last year, this was the last part of the cycle. you should really try to get his sheets of "kontakte" its his best work for meim tryin to play this on a piano since 2 years, but i cant ...lol. check him out, hes rockin hard!! you should also go and look out for strawinsky, berg and oskar sala, he designed and built the trautonium, a obscure instrument, which is today known as the first "sampler" . he built it back in the 30s. and was techno. -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- Von: Sam Karmel <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> An: 313@hyperreal.org <313@hyperreal.org> Datum: Donnerstag, 18. hi My former music teacher used to learn from him. Some of the stories are amazing. For example he told me how they used to have many tape loops stretched the length of a big hall and play them. The tape cutting techniques they used sound so tedious, using thousands of splices and joining them (does anybody no what the average amount of splices were for the first detroit stuff). Aparently they would splice lots of prerecorded tape and stick them all on the wall and then randomly put it back togeather. The first synths they used were as big as whole rooms. Re: 2000 black release on Planet E
not sure if you all realise - but the track listings for the planet-e version of 'the good good' is going to be different from the 2000 black one, not greatly, but different all the same... you could say that the planet-e version is a round up of previous releases with a couple of exclusives - while the 2000 black version is aimed at people who've been collecting all the twelves - it's all exclusives... both are probably worth picking up... maybe check out nu era's 'broken techno' just out on archive as well - more fantastic stuff from marc mac and dego... i've got a tracklisting for the 2000 black version of 'the good good' on http://twoplayer.net many thanks to everyone who's been tuning into nortroute - hope you enjoy it ;) all the best - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://twoplayer.net http://nortroute.net _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

Yeah you are right it is an absolute classic - in fact even so much so that it was the biggest selling 12" single of all time! Nice one to the lads from Manchester! Also a favourite of Carl Craig - he dropped it last record at the Electric Chair-Oxford Road-Manchester a couple of months ago. Lovely! :) To get the orginal on Factory you have to dig deep in second hand shops. I will keep am eye out for you. Mark Do You Yahoo!? Should be fairly easy. There's a reissue of it by Base, the Italian label who reissued a lot of the ESP back catalogue as well as Factory's. Try www.gemm.com for it, there's tons to be found there. > How easy / difficult is it to get hold of this track then?? I would love to own > it, it's an absolute classic!

Re: [313] help, looking for "losing control"!!
Yep, PF022 is the Peacefrog release of ACC102, but I had heard that the two versions of "Losing Control" itself differ slightly. I've heard both versions in my time but I heard the PF one years before the ACC one and haven't heard it since to actually know if there IS a difference. It's one of those urban myths amongst mates of mine that the Peacefrog one (which I haven't even seen in the shop) is different. As for those of you who wrote about the remixes, I do have a spare copy and will swap it for any of the following (apologies for bandwidth usage here!): 1. Infiniti "Sunlight" (Peacefrog) 2. Mills "Every Dog part 1" (Axis) 3. Fingers Inc. "Never No More Lonely w/ Music Takes Me Up" (Jack Trax) 4. Davina "Don't You Want It?" (Happy) Of course, if anyone has spares of these let me know anyway, I can probably come up with some other swap or payment if you'd rather. I don't know! Madonna's Erotica mixes real well with PM too - it's got that dirty, crackle to it and percussive quality, would be a good techno sample actually! Maybe they think it's "ironic" in a camp kinda way - a bit like the local promoter who put on Machine Gun Fellatio (local rock band with strippers) with DJ Heather (ace!!) and Honey Dijon (always fun, broke Destiny's Child in the club scene). >At 11:10 18/01/01 +1100, you wrote: >>There is supposed to be a bootleg of Spin Me Around and a Purposemaker track >>(not sure which) - Adam Beyer played it here on NYD. >> >> >hmmm, sounds like Dead or Alive - Spin Me Around >> >there has been a bootleg with a remix of that track last year. > > >what is it with that bootleg.. it's a shocker... let it go to the grave! >what are beyer, hell and acquaviva doing? you may as well play a >commercial piece of cheese, it's not clever. :/

I seem to recall there was a second Losing Control 12" on Peacefrog with different mixes than the first. The other one was a White label with Green text, rather than the Black label with green text on PF025. I don't know what mixes were on the other one.
