[313] Bone played this tune..help ID?
Just got back from DJ Bone/Steve Stoll/8fatfat8 show (Minneapolis). Short review...8fatfat8 were great for the time I heard them (about 20minutes), playing deep funky house grooves. If you ever get a chance to see them do so. The short amount of music I heard from them was fantastic. Steve Stoll was Steve Stoll...I've had my share of DJs spinning this kind of hard techno and I swear that I have a tape with either Heiko Laux or Sven Vath that has practically all the same tunes he played. Thumping but not really inspiring. DJ Bone put me back at DEMF. Dropped a handful or two of Detroit classics (Good Life Carl Craig Remix, Jaguar, Paperclip People, and more but I'm forgetting everything right now...a bit tired) and satisfying selection of electro mixed in. One track that he played had a vocal that went (paraphrasing) get up get up get upsit your ass back down. Very funky sh*t...it had some serious bump to it. Anyone know this tune? Thanks. MEK PS the venue was excellent...old brick theatre that looks decrepid but in reality is functioning, with the stage converted to a dance floor. All the stage lighting system was utilized and their were performers up in the arches. If I find photos somewhere I will fwd them to the list. _ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [313] Bone played this tune..help ID?
I had a lot of fun. He's never played here so Bone played to a Detroit Tech-ignorant crowd and he knew it. He played so many Detroit staples. Besides as stated below, he dropped two copies of the bells. Mill's music man stuff/ steps to enchantment, the other day. Old school Surgeon. He started with Choo Choo Romero without the treble. A little electro session. All on 3 decks. (even though he didn't use it 'til 20 minutes in) So much energy. I ttally dug it. Steve was cool too. Straight up electronic intensity. His own track he closed with screamed: analogue toaster in the sauna...or sumpthin'..hph. peace DJ Bone put me back at DEMF. Re: [313] carl craig presents abstract funk theory
i don't think there's too much to say about him, he's german, had a couple top 40 hits (i think din daa daa actually went to #1 in the US one week if i'm not mistaken) you'd probably recognize the track when you heard it was played on the radio when it came out (in '82 or 83, i think), and was played on many mix shows in detroit in chicago (other places, too, i'm sure) in fact, i don't think i own a wizard mix without it played at least once. it's still played often today in electro sets and, more so in detroit probably, booty mixes Forgive my ignorance, but who's George Kranz? Re: [313] transmat first, second, third pressing??
armin holzgethan: could someone please outline the differences in the the artwork of the different pressings, especially of the first two? i know the last pressing has black labels etc. and what about fragile? two pressings? A good resource is Ebay, there's sometimes lots of pictures of different Transmat label graphics. I know the very first pressing of Nude photo is a plain silver label w/ black lettering Transmat logo, and the artist name is indeed RYTHIM IS RYTHIM, not Rhythim with an H like the later pressings... I have a feel that the later releases usually had Alan Oldham's graphics, like Strings of life has neat drawn pic. I've also seen different colours in the same graphics, like Beyond the dance printed in brown (!!!) colour and super cool red-to-green fading graphics... K-Alexi's All for Lee-sah first pressing had cool Oldham drawing of a lady (printed on white label), and the second pressing had a somewhat decadent red graphics I don't know what to think of. The black label ones, Classics are the latest yes... These experts on this board should make a site where all the Transmat graphics were presented. It's strange actually, that no one (?) hasn't done that already, a dedicated Detroit classics web page...? -Proffit _ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

that's a really good idea i'd be down to support that. if anyone decides to do this let me know and i'll help out (i'm too unmotivated to actually design a site myself, though. haha) These experts on this board should make a site where all the Transmat graphics were presented.
