RE: [313] 'Blackwater' mixes
Released by Concept recordings *already* there are 3 seperate 12s. However, there is another 12 coming (this week?) with two additional mixes on it. The three Concept 12s are white, green, and red in color (the text that reads BLACKWATER only-- the rest is white on black.) The first is the one with the Chase the Blues Away vocal that every- one seems to love. The Chase the Blues Away instrumental also appears on the red one which is the Saunderson mixes. The green one are the Kaotic Spatial Rhythms mixes. Hope this helps. mm -Original Message- From: Odeluga, Ken [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 29, 2002 3:02 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Org Subject: [313] 'Blackwater' mixes Can anyone tell me how many mixes there are (to date)? [313] tikiman+scion in scotland
I saw Tikiman and Scion in Glasgow at the weekend. They played an excellent combined set with Peter (substance) playing records, Rene (vainquer) handling the essential fx and Tikimans beautiful vocals on top of it all. Full of their trademark Berlin sounds they mostly played the rhythm and sound material, though I didn't know the last two tracks which had slower, more traditional reggae rhythms. Pity it was held at Optimo though...most pretentious crowd I've seen in a while... - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: [313] Random Noise Generation
Bought this this weekend. The Unknown is pretty stripped- down with a signature RNG grooved to it-- sort of sounds similar to the beats in Blackwater, actually. The B-side has two tracks, Total Recall and Genesis. TR (in my opinion) is completely ruined by short vocal samples saying, Remember me?. Although the beats are pretty sweet-- kind of break-y... Genesis is a nice techno cut, but the highlight of the 12 is The Unknown. mm -Original Message- From: Toby Frith [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 29, 2002 7:43 AM To: 313 Subject: [313] Random Noise Generation Anyone heard their latest release the unknown? hear, hear. that moby remix of miserablism is fantastic. such a great song. anyone know if that's an actual 303 on it? i'm a huge, and unashamed pet shop boys fan. and i love their very acoustic new album, ESPECIALLY the eminem track (which is actually the next to last.) 313 content: anyone ever heard the various 313 remixes of the PSB? terrence parker and mk have both done fantastic PSB mixes (i wouldn't normally do that kind of thing and can you forgive her). kevin saunderson did a couple less spectacular mixes of go west, including one with the word trance in the title (!!). eddie fowlkes did a very strange remix of i want a dog, if i'm not mistaken. and the psb themselves did a pretty good, though limited-edition, somewhat detroity techno album called relentless. almost all of this technoid psb stuff was around 93/4 - since then they've unfortunately graduated to plodding house and prog-trance mixes (though they did cover maze's house classic break 4 love last year). additional 313 content: anyone ever noticed that one of the dre-produced tracks on jj fad's self-titled debut album samples basically its entire backing track from model 500's nite drive thru babylon? i recently got their second album (i'm a sucker for cheesy female pop-rap groups - le trimm rules!) and it's a seriously hilarious hip-house album from hell. no wonder it killed their careers. brian -Original Message- From: kelli b kavanaugh [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 29, 2002 9:49 AM To: Cyclone Wehner; 313 Detroit Subject: Re: [313] Fw: Moby Responds To Eminem... Which reminds me... the only BVL material I have heard is the DEMF set from 2000 which I downloaded from Chromedecay. Every time I listen to it, it is like the first time I heard it...if that makes sense. Aaah, you know what I mean. Anyway, I have never seen any releases. Where can I satisfy my hunger? 1. Richie Hawtin is more popular because he's a marketing genius. 2. The Plastikman logo is an icon. Just like Coca-Cola logo. 3. He ran an extremely successful recordlabel (+8) that didn't limit itself to strictly Detroit, therefore it had more sucess outside of Detroit. 4. Spaztik is perhaps the most versitile track of all-time. It works with house, techno, booty... Everyone plays it, everyone loves it. 5. Even today, Rich aligns himself with exciting new technologies that are not only cutting edge, but great for filling column inches in magazines. 6. Plus, he is definately in the top 10 DJ/producers in the world when it comes to quality records and amazing sets. But since quality in music is more or les subjective and I have no desire to argue with anyone who believes that Richie is not a good artist, please refer back to points 1-5 to answer the question 'why is hawtin more popular?' [313] What, Me Worry?
I was curious if anyone has heard Anthony Shakir's - What, Me Worry? on 7th City? I thought this would have been out a long time ago. I did hear a rumor that an extra track is being added to the single, and that is why it has been delayed. I'm also curious about Cabanne Can't Stand on 7th City. The 7th City website says Cabanne is an up-and-coming producer out of Paris, France who is becoming well known through releases on his label, Telegraph. His production style developed out of his years of playing guitar in jazz and funk bands and has recently been inspired by the electronic house of Germany. This year, Cabanne has also been involved in collaborations with most notablyJohn Thomas (Logistic, Sino) and ARK. This is his first 7th City release and it includes 3 tracks of his own unique brand of funky minimalist programming. _ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I played the Can You Forgive Her remix two weeks ago too. It's my favorite PSB remix bar-none. kevin saunderson did a couple less spectacular mixes of go west, including one with the word trance in the title (!!). Yeah - these are by no means essential, but interesting for sure. eddie fowlkes did a very strange remix of i want a dog, if i'm not mistaken. It's kinda mixed up with Atomic Dog, and similar in feel. Very nice. and the psb themselves did a pretty good, though limited-edition, somewhat detroity techno album called relentless. It's quite good. The package came out at the same time as Very. It was a bubble-wrap-esque sleeve, with both Very and Relentless included - I always thought of it as Very Relentless. It veers towards the proto-trance end of things, but definitely of a higher quality than the later stuff. Think of the Jam Spoon remixes from around that time and you get a feel for what it's like, although with better staying power and less over-the-top tranceness to it [runs for cover in fear of Jam Spoon flamethrowers]. Another nice set of remixes were Deep Dish's takes on Se a Vida E (quite towards techno for them) and the 312 relevent Frankie Knuckles remix of I Want A Dog. Crucial. I'm doing my best to resurrect early-'90s synth-pop remixes from underground house/techno artists. :) The Francois K and Orb remixes of Violator-era Depeche Mode are also presently pushing my buttons. Oh, and the Chris Cosey remix CD. That Carl Craig treatment is sweet. Re: [313] demf website
Yes, Richie Hatwin is a serious good artist, but why is he the far more popular one ? because he's far more accessable, along with his music. because his ability to market himself and his music FAR surpases anyone else in detroit. That point in itself is extremely difficult to dispute. because he´s the best ? do you believe in the best ? well, yeah, i kinda do ;-) is it possible he´s far more popular, because he also is on so many photos, jpgs, maybe ? possible? yeah. and monkey's might fly out of my butt. so again we need to enter the question: why is he on so many photos ? we don't really need to ask it again, because i still don't think its the reason for his popularity (and i also don't think its because he's a white boy). Getting pictures in magazines a superb dj/producer does not make. _ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

anyone have any thoughts on the latest two cds from the folks who brought us tehnika, last year's excellent survey of slovenian techno? i'm really digging 'em. the temponauta album is driving and nicely detailed minimal/detroity stuff - more bread and butter techno. the random numbers one (logic) is more in a basic channel mode, with glitchy beats laid atop deed pub atmospherics. brian - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
