Matt asked: Another question: how does the Andres record on Moods Grooves compare to his releases on KDJ? Didn't have a chance to listen but plan to later... what to expect? It's right on par with the KDJs -- both in quality and in style. Summery, loose. Each track is solid. [313] Tresor Club might stay open
Someone recently posted the thing about Tresor closing. Well looks like there's more to the story as of last week. Quoted below from no-future.com, and theres more on the Tresor site forum, but its in german :( [quote] tresor probably won't sleep that much in the next couple years... that have been kinda great news today: according to german political magazine 'DER SPIEGEL', the german government is involved in a bad scandal about the area of the old wertheim bank, which was owned by the jewish wertheim family before the nazis came up. it seems that german government sold the area without being the real owner of it. spiegel magazine said, that now the jewish claim conference fights against german government and otherwise. this means that the new owner will probably stop all construction plans promptly and tresor might remain on the old place until everything is sorted out. that are pretty much mindblowing news for us...last week we received the cancellation of our contract scheduled for end of august. check the forum at www.tresorberlin.de (click: Net Network Forum) for any news. I've posted some useful links (in german only) and will also upload a more detailed statement regarding all the closing rumours to the tresor.club section in a few days. I'd love it if the deephouse board went to email. People here have thrown around the idea of starting a [312] list occasionally, but nothing's ever come of it. Course, someone could always start a new list @ yahoogroups or something, and invite the deephousepage message board and [313] on over. That'd be quite an interesting collection of househeads. [313] metro times?
Morning all! Good friend recently posted over some Detroit stuff for me and included was a copy of the Metro times (May 29 - June 24, 2002). Now maybe I live a sheltered live but is it always this sexually explicit???, i.e. the Dan Savage column, the subject matter here was XXX rated, the Isadora column was X rated AND the fact the front cover was of a picture of a minor (well looks like a minor) with a her hand down her pants giving herself some sort of pleasure (didn't look like she wasn't enjoying herself) only goes to reinforce my point. Is it always like this and where can I get more? only kidding! Another point, seems to me theres a plenty going on in Detroit from all the advertised nites, maybe not 'underground dance' music, but still lots going on, I've always thought, from opinions stated on this list that Detroit is like a ghost town, seems not! to finish on a musical note: I can recommend the Deetron mix cd coming out on Music Man (might even be out) excellent mix with a healthy dose of Detroit modern and vintage classic tracks on it! (will post track listing later) thanks! jason - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Also finally found a decent used copy of Nick Straker Band little bit of jazz on Prelude from '81... what a wicked tune, heard it before but never had my own copy, I shoulda owned this one a long time ago. Metro Times is similar to many of the alternative newspapers in major metropolitan areas in the US (Chicago reader, Baltimore/Washington Citypapers, Seattle Stranger, Village Voice in NYC, etc). In most of these, you don't get the same kind of censorship you'd find in mass print. These papers are generally free, paid for by advertising. Columns like Savage Love, News of the Weird, etc are nationally syndicated in almost all of them. The rest of the pages are packed with local cooler-than-thou art reviews and some pretty risque ads. One of my recent favorites was an ad for vaginal hair removal with a picture of someone mowing a lawn. The caption read, tired of mowing your bush? At any rate, this type of media is not limited to Detroit. These papers are generally your best resources for getting to know a US city if you're new or visiting, or if you're looking for an inexpensive penis enlargement scheme. :) Tristan --- http://www.mp313.com - Music http://www.metrotechno.net - DC techno + more http://www.metatrackstudios.com - DC DJ/Production studios http://phonopsia.tripod.com - Hub [EMAIL PROTECTED] - email - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

There was the kramer dashwood thing aswell on pgh records about 94 I think quite a twisted remix thing just like many chicago producers did a version of video crash/acid crash, they also seem to have done versions of 'let no man put asunder'. i've got a few. only one i can find at the momnet is a mike hitman wilson and dj pierre track called 'let no man trax'. nice and jacking. did lnr do one as well? james www.jbucknell.com Maarten Baute wrote on Mon, 24 Jun 2002 about following: So the mix that I am looking for is probably the 'salsoul sg397' remixed in 1983 by Shep Pettibone This is quite hard to get , isn´t it? mine's a Serious Records OUS 3 12 from 1987 with following tracks A1 - let.. original mix (mixed by shep pettibone) [this is the version thats played everywhere] A2 - let.. jack the body mix (no notes on remixer) B1 - let.. house mix (no notes on remixer) B2 - let me down easy club mix (this is another song) that a1 track is also available on cd Divas of Dance, Slip'n'Slide SLIPCD119, where it is titled as Let no man put asunder - shep pettibone's master mix sakke -- Progressive clubs are pathetic two years behind the times. - Dave Angel 1993 - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [313] Theo Parrish + M. Pittman / Trackmode
I think the cat. number is Trackmode 40 (can you believe they are up to = FORTY?? Seems like only yesterday... ha ha). Since I missed out on a = lot of these, what do 313'ers consider like the absolute must-have = Trackmode records? Top 3 or 5...=20 I'd say grab all the early brett dancer 12s they are real nice..., um also they had a re-release of an old chris grey album I think his first one that came out on the Music Is label. what else ...some of the kdj records...think there is at least 1 or 2? that first abstract fusion compilation is nice too. Trackmode and Moods Grooves are both turning into great bought it for the Joshua Dub version (the Joshua of Prescription/Balance = fame) on the B-side... cracking. That said, I actually like the vocal I'll have to check that out matt. joshua's latest stuff has been somewhat boring as compared to some of his earlier stuff...the stuff I highly reccomend that he's done in recent years is the last seasons record he did and also a circulation record on global communication...what else oh yah! he did this double pack thing with diz called love it dub it on silver network and the iz and diz love vibe ep on Aesoteric is a must have. I know he's got a new one on tweekin but I haven't heard it...anyone out there heard this? Another question: how does the Andres record on Moods Grooves compare It's way more chill and smooth compared to all the other releases on kdj matt. I dig it a lot and play it at least once a week to chill out to. grab it if you don't have it. minto __ Do You Yahoo!? [313] Fw: 'One more time' for Blake Baxter
ARCHIV 6 BLAKE BAXTER 'ONE MORE TIME' Artist: Blake Baxter Title: One More Time Label: Tresor Ca. No: 56194-6 Release: 05/08/02 Distribution: EFA/PIAS/SRD Tracklist A1. One More Time (Original Mix) A2. One More Time B1. One More Time (Red Planet Remix) B2. One More Time (Acid Mix) Tresor's popular 'Archiv' series returns after the last installment reminded us of Eddie Fowlkes' timeless production skills, with a scorching contemporary remix from Mark Broom. This time its the turn of another Detroit heavyweight, Blake Baxter, to step up. His classic 1992 record 'One More Time' will be familiar to many, and it features here with the original 3MB Berlin mixes and the slamming 2002 reworking crafted by 'Pump Da Bass' Baxter himself. Not to mention a remix from some blokes who go by the name Red Planet. That one might be worth a look too. The original 'One More Time' versions appeared on Baxter's Dream Sequence debut album (Tresor 002, 1992) and was soon after re-released via Logic with remixes by Berlin's 3MB (Thomas Fehlmann Moritz von Oswald), so this is the first time the legendary mixes have ever appeared on Tresor proper. With the release date just in time for the Berlin Love Parade, 'One More Time' will be keeping Summer 2002 guaranteed hot and wet for everyone. Yes, Atom Heart did the DOS Tracks :) record. Check out a review more details at: http://www.datacide.org/ri051/ It was originally put out on Rather Interesting as a CD-only release, while the vinyl was put out on Schematic a number of months ago. - Original Message - From: Jason Donnelly [EMAIL PROTECTED] ! the fact the front cover was of a picture of a minor (well looks like a minor) with a her hand down her pants giving herself some sort of pleasure (didn't look like she wasn't enjoying herself) only goes to reinforce my point. Is it always like this and where can I get more? only kidding! in the article it said she was a fetish model and the artist just let he do her natural thing. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [313] Theo Parrish + M. Pittman / Trackmode
Boss tune for me has been Larry Heard's remix of his own Praise. Bloody hell! If you don't have that then ask yourself why. Other tasty numbers include Norm Talley's Mystic EP, Theo Parrish's Expressive Angles and Theo's remix of Larry Heard's Missing You. Heard's Love's Arrival album is one of my faves from last year and the first two Abstract Fusion comps have tracks worth getting on them. Some of the releases aren't quite must haves but overall, it's a deep house label very high quality standard. Guidance, for example, doesn't have a quality ratio that can compare. I haven't heard the latest Brett Dancer, but I picked up the Jovonn one as well as Essential Selections 2. I think the cat. number is Trackmode 40 (can you believe they are up to FORTY?? Re: [313] Theo Parrish + M. Pittman / Trackmode
I'd say grab all the early brett dancer 12s they are real nice..., um also they had a re-release of an old chris grey album I think his first one that came out it was the emotional distortion album...great one! dig lots of brett dancer's stuff too altho still the best one i have heard is that collabo with rick wade on chord 44!! on the Music Is label. what else ...some of the kdj records...think there is at least 1 or 2? that first abstract fusion compilation is nice too. Trackmode and i dont think the first abstract fusion is too hot myself, altho the jordan fields and a couple other tracks on there certainly make it a worthwhile purchase! also i really like that theo parrish one with music pt.2, the a-side doesnt stand out and is typical parrish but the b-side has those slightly italo-y chords which are very very nice...a standout among parrish stuff imo! no need to mention larry's stuff i guess...;) duh!! bought it for the Joshua Dub version (the Joshua of Prescription/Balance = fame) on the B-side... cracking. That said, I actually like the vocal wait which record was this!? i missed the start of this thread, but gotta grab this...! huge joshua fan..when he's on! I'll have to check that out matt. joshua's latest stuff has been somewhat boring as compared to some of his earlier stuff...the stuff I highly reccomend that he's done in recent years is the last seasons record he did and also a circulation record on global communication...what else oh yah! he did this double pack thing with diz called love it dub it on silver network and the iz and diz love vibe ep on Aesoteric yezzz!! plus also check out the recent diz gene farris record on greenskeepers, the diz tracks are subtle and great. jt _ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[313] A track to peep...
Hey I thought I'd post this just for fun. I'm working on building a website with a partner, which is going to contain a music section, and I put up an old track of mine as an MP3. I thought some of you might enjoy giving it a listen. You will need Flash to view this site (created in Flash 5). Please keep in mind that it's a rather old track, made when I was visiting a friend of mine in Santa Cruz, and I had only his computer, no proper monitors, and very little software to work with. It doesn't really reflect my current production style either. Regardless, some of you might like it. Anyway, I am in the process of putting together some more proper musical content for the site. If anyone has a really good 313-type mix, I might be willing to host it for a month or two. (I'd like to update the content pretty regularly--say every month or so.) the address is: http://www.flotgramagrafs.com/ simply click on music and then click on Access To Technology... /dave.CyborgK - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[313] 7/1 Motor--from TP to a dj heaven in Brazil
Hey y'all-- wanted to let all you dj/producer types know the red bull music academy is recruiting applicants from the Detroit area for this year's Academy in November in Sao Paolo, Brazil. for those of you who don't know, the RBMA is a FREE (they cover travel and lodging; you cover food and drink (minus the red bull) and pocket money), TWO-WEEK DJ school/symposium/mentor-lab put on every year in a different city with DJ/producers like yourselves from around the world vibing . Mills, Claude Young, and Acquaviva have all been lecturers, as have Tom Middleton, BMG, Godfather, King Britt, etc. This year's RBMA is in Sao Paolo in November. The site redbullmusicacademy.com breaks down what it's all about; two to three lectures on everything from music history (Mad Professor, original Hacienda DJ Dave Haslam, etc.) to technique and tech demos a day; nights spent in studios or soaking up the local scene, which this year is Sao Paolo. There's a free CD-rom floating around area record stores (Record Time, etc) on last year's Academy in London that you can pick up Anyway, with 64 spaces for students from 30-some countries, this year they're trying to refine the application process. So, if you're in the Detroit area, there's an informational seminar (lunch included) at Motor in Hamtramck July 1 from 11 am-3 pm to walk you through the application process--basically filling it out and talking about putting together your 30-minute mix to submit. you have to rsvp to [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you want to attend. I was student at the Dublin RBMA two year ago so I'll be talking people through the application process July 1 at Motor, plus we'll be doing a mock seminar like the ones at the actual Academy with TP himself, Terrance Parker, talking about (and demonstrating) his own Detroit story as trick-happy house jock holding his own in techno city. Like I said, if you're in Detroit and want to check out what the RBMA's all about (besides two free weeks in Brazil in November), the workshop's 11AM-3PM July 1 at Motor Hamtramck; rsvp to [EMAIL PROTECTED] If you want more info, hit me up off-list. caipirinhas all round, hobey echlin - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
