Check out http://www.phinnweb.com/panasonic/

He is (was?) the other part of Panasonic (later named Pan Sonic).
Panasonic's music is (to me atleast) _very_ experimental electronic music.
Loads of bleeps and other strange stuff on their records. Very minimal.
Hard to describe.

Well, that explains a lot... I really like Panasonic's works, and alos some of
the Miko Vainio solo stuff, but I hadn't paid attention to the other members...
thanks for the tip !

Good to know - yes, his stuff has immediate beauty in it, it looks like he's
reponsible for the simple/deep in Pan Sonic, while Vainio does the
glitchy/experimental...

Blood and Fire rereleased it around 5 years ago - it's some of the sweetest
reggae you'll ever hear - it was overpplayed in the record shop I use to
work at but I never got sick of it - leave the E out of Congos when
searching on the net and you're sure to find what you're looking for.

I got one, it's 2 different edits, real nice. Thing is, I don't have the
original, so I can't comment too much. I don't think he changed it too much
though, just extended a couple of parts and maybe added a couple of nice

its one of the 10 best albums ever recorded in any style, IMO. its
absolutely flawless, i could listen to it over and over again for
days straight without getting bored.

the way I see it, Fisherman is the highlight of the record.

really? congoman was always my favorite, that bassline is too
funky. and previous to carl craig getting involved, i had planned
on sampling the congos at the beginning of the track, but now
everybody will know where they came from. my second favorite track
on the album is the sodom and ghemorrah track. its way too great
of an album to really pick out specific good songs, theyre all
quality.

(313) [313] perhaps OT... track notation.

2003-03-19 Thread Lee Herrington IV

hi folks. i apologize, in advance, for what may be considered by most an
off topic post. however, as most members have discovered... you can get a
great deal of answers to questions found outside the realm of the usual
[313] discussions. here goes... i like to make mixes for listening in my
car. i use two turntables and a mixing board. the end result is a large
.wav file that i can then burn to a CD. my question is this; is there a
way, through some sound editing app such as sound forge6.0, to mark the .wav
file w/ track time information? i enjoy the experience of listening to a
music mix as a whole, but sometimes it's nice to skip ahead to a particular
tune. i guess i desire the same setup as you would find in a mix CD bought
from a store.

if anyone has any instructions, feel free to answer me off-list. if you
wish to share your knowledge w/ the rest of the list all the better. thanks
in advance.

Re: (313) [313] perhaps OT... track notation.

2003-03-19 Thread ::\)
if you're burning them as audio and not data, you can use something like
cool edit pro to split it into tracks, label them, and them burn them in
order. most CD writing software will allow you to remove the pause between
tracks, otherwise your mix will really piss you off :)

hope this helps!
