In soundforge you can divide up the large wav. file. I often do this for
my mixes. It is time consuming though. Its best to start from the end of
the file as it works faster. Find the very start of the last tune (or
wherever you want to index it) then highlight it from that point to the
end of the file. Then cut and paste to a new window. Keep doing this until
the entire mix is chopped up into separate windows. Then burn onto the CD
in the proper order... voila.

hi folks. i apologize, in advance, for what may be considered by most
 an
off topic post. however, as most members have discovered... you can get
 a
great deal of answers to questions found outside the realm of the usual
[313] discussions. here goes... i like to make mixes for listening in my
car. i use two turntables and a mixing board. the end result is a large
..wav file that i can then burn to a CD. my question is this; is there a
way, through some sound editing app such as sound forge6.0, to mark the
 .wav
file w/ track time information? i enjoy the experience of listening to a
music mix as a whole, but sometimes it's nice to skip ahead to a
 particular
tune. i guess i desire the same setup as you would find in a mix CD
 bought
 from a store.

if anyone has any instructions, feel free to answer me off-list. if you

I'm sure Rob can recount his recent journey there in some detail, but be

*amazing* deals, and some really jacked prices to boot. Just be careful, not

As Alex said, Berwick street generally is a good place to immerse yourself
in vinyl. Also worth popping into Koobla (just up the street from Vinyl
Junkies and Reckless) for some bits that other stores may have sold out of.
Not an amazing store, but I've rounded things out there b/c it's less

both parts of the store (there is a 2nd downstairs section a few doors down

Re: (313) [313] perhaps OT... track notation.

2003-03-20 Thread Remco . Doorewaard

Hi,

In soundforge you can also work with markers and regions. You first set
markers at the beginning and ending of all separate tracks (with ctrl-M),
you will see a line on the .wav file where you set a marker. (Don't forget
to set a marker at the beginning and the ending of the entire .wax file!)
Now you have chopped up the entire file.

Then you have to use an option called: 'set markers to regions' (i think it
is in the edit section under markers). You have now made regions of the
entire file. The last thing you have to do is to extract the regions to
separate .wav files on your HD. There is a function for it called 'Extract
regions' (I think this is in the Tools section). Now you have al tracks as
separate .wav files on your HD and you can burn them.

This has the advantage that you don't have multiple windows to work with.
You can also manually set the markers on time!

Reckless in name and in nature - erratic prices, erratic quality - always
look at the records before buying cos they have no qualms about selling you
scratched vinyl. They also have rereleases up on the wall selling for
£20-£40, when you could easily get the same record at Selectadisc or HMV for
£4.99 - this pricing can also work in your favour as they seem to have
little knowledge of the value of some records - I found some gems in there
last week at very reasonable prices - Inner City's Praise Remixes on Ten
Records (FSOL, Carl Craig and Mayday mixes - the Mayday mix I had been
looking for this for ever - the Mayday mix is one of May's finest moments)
and the DJ Pierre Wild Pitch mix of DIY's Hothead (Warp) for just 99p - I
thought these records were worth a hell of a lot more than I paid for them
(the DIY record was only 99p!). So if you go to Reckless, have patience and
keep digging - you're sure to find plenty of gold.

Working at HMV one summer, I got asked by this large, middle aged guy if we
had the song that went with a particular line-dance, he then proceeded to do
the dance in front of me and all the customers. Of course it was achy

RE: (313) Records Stores In London

2003-03-20 Thread Brendan Nelson
I used to work in Ambient Soho (when it was alive!) and was amazed at
the sheer number of people who apparently misread the shop's name as
80s Spandex Metal, Progressive Rock and Indie Guitar Soho. At least
they were all quite easy to get rid of (hello, do you have any def
leppard? no), unlike the two dodgy jungle producers who nearly had a
gunfight in the shop after one accused the other of having bootlegged
his track. We were all ducking behind the counter, but after the two
belligerents eventually took it outside, we listened to the disputed
record and decided it was crap anyway.

But being part of the ambient scene, we didn't really do impatient,
just disinterested... :)

The easiest (IMO) program to use to index tracks from a large wav

A fantastic program that splits tracks with a click of the mouse.

RE: (313) Congoman

2003-03-20 Thread Cobert, Gwendal
really? congoman was always my favorite, that bassline is too
funky. and previous to carl craig getting involved, i had planned
on sampling the congos at the beginning of the track, but now
everybody will know where they came from. my second favorite track
on the album is the sodom and ghemorrah track. its way too great
of an album to really pick out specific good songs, theyre all
 quality.

Well, I can certainly relate to that... about Fisherman, it's probably because
that's the first song by the Congos I've heard, and also because of the vocal
interplay...
