I took about a bag of about 50 records on as hand luggage from US to
Australia without any problems. Although, I guess its not quite the same
as 150 of 'em.

Customs at LAX had a fun time trying to figure what the hell they were

Is it really not poss to carry it as hand luggage? Might get searched
seeing as it looks strange and will be heavier than most hand luggage,
but that's better than it getting nicked. What else do you need to carry
on you? Phone, toothpaste (maybe) wallet, passport? The rest can go in

Classy.

If you can't manage to have all the records as carry on, split your
record collection up so that the 'least valuable' go as baggage.

My last trip wasn't too bad as I was with my girl and we were both able
to carry bags on. 150 records thereabouts in the cabin easily.

However, it does get very difficult, and when you need to take say
300-400 away at a time, that's when you need to disguise them. Then
again, I've never disguised, just used a massive lock and that seems to
be a decent enough deterrant.

while were on the subject, i heartily reccommend the surgery ep that has

techno track while on side B contains an ethereal and tripped out ambient

side A keeps this post on topic...;-)

The only thing that annoys me about this excellent mix from Bone is that
he mixes out of Flash at the same point almost every other DJ does -
namely, right before the best bit of the entire track! Whenever I hear
that segment where the phasing on the beat starts to slowly rise
upwards, I stare at whatever DJ is playing, thinking don't mix out,
don't mix out, don't mix out...!. But they invariably do! And the
*rudest* part of the track is cut. It's sort of like that with Star
Dancer a bit as well - the most popular part of the track for mixing out
is typically right before my favourite bit of the track (the bit where
the wheeling synth line comes in, just after halfway through the track).

Although you could argue that the best bit in Star Dancer is when the
ride cymbals come in, or alternatively when the first cycle of the
phasing passes overhead...

Just for the record, we are not putting on an afterparty this year
(and if we were, I would not be wanting to be sanctioned by any group
or individuals, etc). I was just curious as to what this meant
exactly, as in if a group of individuals wanted to get their party
sanctioned by the movement hierarchy, what they would have to do.

Or, is this just giving you head of the line privileges, while still
having to pay, at DM, CC, etc. afterparties.

Peace,
Alex

Subject: (313) Record Shops in tha D

I'm visiting Detroit for the Movement Fest and was
wondering if anyone out there can recommend some
good record shops to visit whilst i'm out there. If there
are any, will they be open during the memorial weekend ?

 thanx,
 Chris.

I saw Tristan wearing a nice-looking 313 t-shirt over in London a few
months back... I asked him what the deal was with the shirt, but was too
drunk to remember the story! But that may well have been the same
thing...

I've got the Ren Cen one that Gilles designed. David's rundown pretty much
sums it all up.

F*cking is discouraged apparently

That's hilarious. Did anyone else catch on the first page:

he museum of techno exists to preserve, research and celebrate our shared
techno heritage. The museum was founded in 1837, around founder Sir James
Soame's unique collection of badboy kickdrums. It moved from its original
location in Manchester to premises in London in 1863, opening its doors to
the general public for the first time.

1837 ??

Dennis.
