Re: (313) Fw: OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE - Paul Johnson hospitalized
Well, it's the only version I've heard, and it came out on an Armando retrospective LP on Radikal Fear about 6 years ago. I think that lots of the tracks are believed to be classic (not that I'd know), but the one which totally took my head off was the 1st track - Welcome II the Warehouse. It still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Sadly I only have a CD copy, but I believe vinyl was pressed as well. I'd love to have it on vinly! Dan. Re: (313) Big Club Deaths - was Re: (313) Nigel Walker
I went to Fabric a couple years ago now, thought it was acceptable overall for physical plant (layout, very good sound system, etc.), and totally overrun by lager-hounds who really couldn't give a rip about who was playing other than it was some bloke they saw on a magazine cover last month. DJ Assault was in the front room and it sure sounded good out on the floor, but the place was packed and yet *not* moving, although in fairness what Assault does is pretty unique and perhaps disconcerting if you don't have previous exposure to that style. The superclub is a perversion of what this scene was at its best or even its most average. I don't doubt it made a lot of money for promoters and a few DJs in the day, but it accelerated a star system that has squeezed the life out of the DJ scene in many ways and contributed to style over substance that has been the instant downfall of dance music through at least three major eras. Twas ever thus, I have felt for years that there was a certain inevitability to this whole cycle, which started in part as a reaction to mindless crowd subservience to the guitar-rock dialectic -- which continues onward even now. On the other hand -- three major cycles (late 1970s disco, mid-80s post-disco, and 90s house/techno/etc), and dance music always comes back when you least expect it. Or at least we better hope so. fred

Try mail ordering out of Detroit. Both Record Time and Melodies Memories have had this title in stock almost continuously for the past few years. (313) P2P House Music
Hola 313 Peepz, I'm trying to find a good P2P site where I can download house music tracks/clips in order to assist me in my vinyl buying. I've tried Kazaa and Winmx previously but these seem to be bogged down by adware, slow downloads and a selection which seems to be more focussed on commercial, chart based stuff. I'd really appreciate any tips. Chris.
(313) Name that tune
I was wondering whether anyone out there could help me I.D an old disco/funk track which has been buzzing around inside my head ever since I heard it at a pier party in S.F 4 years ago. Has the lyrics 'you showed me how' repeated by female singers in it. Get the feeling that it was an early 80's record. Quite slow 'n' funky - also get the feeling that it was quite a popular record. Not a lot of help I know ! Any ideas ?? Chris (hoping that it's not something really commercial which is going to put me to shame on this list :(

Re: (313) Name that tune
(hoping that it's not something really commercial which is going to put me to shame on this list Don't worry about it - if you like it and it's buzzing in your head all these years who cares if it's commercial? You like it - that's all that matters. Inner City is pretty commercial. There is tons of commercial stuff that's good. good luck, hope you find it and it's as good as the first time you heard it MEK Chris Anglesey [EMAIL PROTECTED]To: 313@hyperreal.org lworld.com cc: Subject: (313) Name that tune 10/18/03 10:07 AM I was wondering whether anyone out there could help me I.D an old disco/funk track which has been buzzing around inside my head ever since I heard it at a pier party in S.F 4 years ago. Re: (313) submerge sound clips
Just because you haven't seen it, doesn't mean it wasn't around. I've seen plenty of records as well in my life, but I haven't seen them all. If a records sitting in a record store that I haven't been to, that doesn't make it so that the record doesn't exist or is hard to find, it means that I didn't know where it was at and therefore, didn't have the knowledge to purchase it. Actually, my copy was bought without me seeing it, it was in my S.I.D. "Grab Box" at the first DEMF. 9 really good records for $10 :) Cheers! (313) rarities found and a few questions about them
a few things I found today - NRB: 58 No Repetitive Beats You can't tell us how to play our music - A Compilation very cool 3x12 comp on Six6 records that was a ltd ed. fund raiser for a back-up sound system for D.I.Y./All Systems No! during the fight against the Criminal Justice Bill it's got Inner City's Share my Life, Reese Project's Colour of Love, Terrence Parker's Beyond (Deeper Love) and a more - almost all are remix versions or edits. What's even cooler is that it has a mixed CD by Graeme Park containing all the tracks on the LPs - the CD is in a thin card sleeve that slips into a little pocket in the side of the front cover. the entire package is in fantastic shape too except the cover says that there is a four track dub EP also - but this is missing. Anyone know where I could find it? MLO - Plastic Apple on Aura Surround Sounds These are remixes of MLO tunes - those of interest are Gun Crazy - Placid house mix Samarkand - Dave Angel mix Two voyages - Claude Young mix New Generation - Belgian Dog mix Spike - Wagon Christ mix has anyone heard these? My copy is still sealed and I'm wondering what the tracks are like the last one that I have a question about Steve Rachmad's My Life in the Bush EP - I found the 100% Pure copy but the picture on discogs has a brownish yellow coloured label - mine is black white. Was one a reissue and another the original pressing? thanks MEK
