THE GANG OF FOUR are to reform for a UK tour.

The legendary British post-punk agitators have enjoyed a critical revival
in recent years with new bands like Futureheads, Bloc Party and Franz
Ferdinand citing them as a massive influence.

Now, the original line-up of Jon King, Andy Gill, Dave Allen and Hugo
Burnham have succumbed to public demand and will reunite for the first time
since 1981 for a string of British dates in January 2005.

The dates are:

Manchester Academy (January 23)

Leeds University (24)

Bristol Academy (25)

Birmingham Academy (27)

London Shepherd?s Bush Empire (28)

Well let's hope it happens. That means the whole industry and the city of
Detroit and the media supporting it which I don't think they have in the
past. That it has happened at all in the last 2 years is a credit to those
involved.

I'm going to get one - Can't wait for 2005, we are so there - so who's going
to sort the 313 party then, should we bring our laptops and show you some of

i bought one at the insistance of derrick may when he was shilling at the
booth. he told me it was $15. so i handed the guy at the counter a $20,
and when i asked for change, he said 'these are signed by derrick, so
 they're $20'

that gave me a good laugh, the huckster.

then i left the DVD in a friends rental car, so i never saw it and can
 never ebay it.

 doh!

dont imagine i will watch it again for many years. not that its
bad, but i still actually remember much of 03 pretty well (as well

well, i cant give a sample of the whole thing, but i can give you clips.

i just looked for the promo of it, and was going to just encode the whole
thing for you guys, but the promo is buried in a stack of about 500

Nice. So does the clip of sandstorm do it justice? Is there more that we're
missing? I think it sounds pretty good. I'd buy it on the strength of the clip
but hope there wasn't any surprise foolishness going on later. The ambient
stuff I could take or leave except for the experimento track. Some timewarping
abrasion in that track. On the whole though, it does seem a bit anticlimactic
given some of the represses of late. Don't think it'll be a sought after C2
classic but good hypnotic tech done right all the same.

holee mol!!!

that new donnacha costello on minimise is hot. the mustard joint. just heard
the clips poking around watts. this is how you do melodic minimal techno
without it sounding like just air and without it losing it's balls. the
bassline on the more melodic side is just heads down bump bizness.

well, i cut it just as it was getting good, so thats my bad. sorry. but,
yeah, you get the jist of it. in my opinion, the whole record is top
notch. its just the C2 noodling i like. neurotic behaviour (which,
coincidentally, just got re-issued) being a prefect example of what i mean
by noodling.

do i think its as good as neurotic behavior, at les, or other
nondancefloor related C2 cute, dunno. need to listen to it more.

do i think its better than most of the sessions from More songs
about yup, i rekon so!

could it become classic for me... it certainly has the potential to.

derek.

Damn, that Sandstorms track really is catchy, I had this real audio clip on
repeat for last half an hour :)
it has the same late night mood as Juan Attkins M 69 Starlight.

Those ambient cuts also sound good.
