Pioneering experimental electronic collective The Black Dog Present The
Black Dog performing a special two-hour live set recorded in Toronto,
Canada on the 1st of June 1997. From ancient Arabic rhythms to Detroit
and Chicago influenced electronica, The Black Dog will take you on a
surreal journey spanning 10,000 years in cyberspace. Exclusive and
unreleased material is interwoven with The Black Dog remixes and the
sounds of the Beat Generation: ranging from ambient to abstract drum

I really love aphex's pretty electroey track 'analogue
bubblebath 1' on the RS digeridoo 12. Can anyone suggest
which of his other releases might be somewhat similar? I
tried listening to the 'selected ambient works' CDs in a
store but they sounded more like ultra ambient atmospheric
 type stuff.

This is true of Vol. 2 on Warp but double check the first one on RS as some
of the tracks on there would more likely be described as 'electroey' rather
than ambient (and for me are best things he's done).

If you have XPsp2, you might check for an extra tan colored bar at the
top which tells you a download was blocked. If you click on it, it will
give the option to download or no.

would recommend Amoeba on Sunset @ Cahuenga, This Is Music on Melrose,
and Vinyl Fetish on Vermont in the Los Feliz area. I think there's a
Vinyl Fetish on Melrose as well but i aint never been thar.

Music equipment: definitely Black Market Music on La Cienega, West
Hollywood. It's a used gear place but almost always home to some
unusual find; great place to browse. West LA Music, on Santa Monica
Blvd in (you guessed it) West LA. Excellent place for new stuff, good
people. Know the price of whatever you're shopping for before you go
in and they'll match it. And if you're feeling very motivated, Big
City Music (bigcitymusic.com) in Studio City has a lot of analog and
unusual stuff.

seeing as i'm a lot more irish than greg is scottish, there's lots of
places to celebrate alcoholism but i'm sure you won't have any trouble
finding bars. clubs nearly all suck. and that also depends on where
you're staying. LA is not what you'd call small.

Hey Gregg- yah we are coming over for NAMM- me and Wilba (who is the
owner of Rubadub)- excellent work on the party info- thanks a lot- I'm
sure we'll make enough trouble of our own at these places anyway!
Maybe we could meet up for a beer (or whiskey as you are 1/8th
 Scottish!)??

 thanks again

  Hi again,

going off to Los Angeles on business next week - will be in town for
a week - any suggestions for sightseeing/fun and some music tips
(record shops, music equipment shops, bars, clubs, good places to get
into trouble etc.) would be much appreciated

Are you coming here for NAMM, Jason? (Anyone else?)

When you say next week, when do you arrive exactly?

I'll defer to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] for the record shops,
music equipment shops, bars and - especially - good places to get
into trouble (we could all go to an ex-pat Brit pub in Santa Monica
  and taunt the English; I'm 1/8th Scottish ;) ) but here's some
  gig info.

 DJ Ken [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

 Guys,

What upcoming releases can we expect this year?

Anyone got tips? What labels do I have to keep my eyes on?

 Ken

For myself it will be :

Sean Deason - Elements Series (Matrix)
 Mitch Walcott - Theories (Axis/Tomorrow)
 Elektrabel forthcoming album (Axis/6277)
 Juan Atkins vs Pacou (Tresor)

Hope these records will be available soon...as possible.

Hi Philip,

Check out Universal Indicator - good squelchy acid;

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B5LAMO/qid=1105877235/ref=sr_8_
xs_ap_i1_xgl/202-5666092-2455827

I reckon 'I care because you do' is his best album, but it's not really in
the same mould as Analogue Bubblebath, more melodic breakbeat. A fantastic
and unbelievably diverse album - a genius at work;

Funsters

I really love aphex's pretty electroey track 'analogue bubblebath 1' on
the

RS digeridoo 12. Can anyone suggest which of his other releases might be
somewhat similar? I tried listening to the 'selected ambient works' CDs in
a

store but they sounded more like ultra ambient atmospheric type stuff. I'm
not into any of his noisy stuff either.

Thanx

RE: (313) Expected releases for 2005

2005-01-17 Thread max
Loking forward to the art comp lots!! Speaking of ART.

AMP-ART

My own label that has been in the pipeline for years but never had the
finance to bring to fruition will be finally touching down this year.
With EP's from my self (MXM) and Pylot (Now know as LINKWOOD) Being first on
the racks.

If you grab a chance, check the Linkwood Family Ep on firecracker recordings
that's doing the rounds in selected shops in London at the moment. I think
Vinyl Junkies took most of the copies and still had a big box worth when I
was last there. Not on general release yet and already going for a reprint.
The main tune (MILES AWAY) is a moodymann-esk deep jazz groover and features
Joseph Malik on vocals and Colin Steel on Trumpet. Two other tracks also,
Fate by Linkwood, this being a fat sun ra/parrish style work out and
another fantastic tune by fudge fingers that works around a marvin gay
sample and drops some lush UR style chord changes with a very funky b-line.
Pick it up if you get a chance.

Also while I'm at it, look out for a new Norken LP and EP with an MXM remix
heading to you soon on Combination/Carharrt Records.

Hopefully going to be a good year!

Whord to your respective's.

Maxim
