Sure. You have to give them your bank acccount info, which is part of

sorry i'm late on this response tom. what you're saying is correct.
nothing we're talking about is a direct cause and effect, nor is there an
exclusive factor that makes a musical movement settle down into an
institutionalized rut. i guess daytime city sanctioned events are more of
a symptom of this homogenization, not the cause. but it still disappoints
me to some extent.

homoginzed

hmm. i see your point, but im not sure that the cause and effect
relationship youre talking about exists. can you prove that it
went that way, and not that jazz music started turning crap before
it received wider acceptance? i mean in reality, you can play the
nastiest most underground stuff during the day and people just
arent going to be able to get into it at all. if you play watered

The new series, just hitting screens here, is excellent so far. Billie

These are very techno-ish film/shows, I hope or apologies.

AFAIK, Doctor Who has been a very rare geek phenomenon in the US (PBS
anyone?). It would be hard to establish an audience without
Hollywood/Madison Avenue involvement. And even then, kids here would
probably confuse it with that odd Hitchhiker movie that no one has

Did you try discogs?

It says Fair Park is a sub label

I believe, syntax acts as some sort of clearing house for small, one or

My fave JTD track:

'Changing Times'.

Also, for those who've not heard already, check out the collaborations

Just got it in the post on Friday - it's tasty.

Three tracks on it which are all quite hard to describe, easiest to say that
they're 'shake-like'. The a side is my favourite - a 10min long beatdownesque
thing with acidic touches, very mesmeric. Should be out soon and definitely
recommended!

Off to Detroit tomorrow - very exciting, see some of you there!

Because in the UK, magazines that pretend to be about music such as Mixmag, are
actually lifestyle magazines that sell themselves with lurid stories about
celebs in Ibiza, drug exposes and pictures of scantily clad female 'clubbers'
on the cover. People who aren't into music buy these magazines, read them and
think that the stuff they learn in there represents dance music.

I don't think my friend is a Mixmag reader, but the same type of thing happens
to a lesser extent in the glossy magazines that come with weekend editions of
the national newspapers. Let's just say that coverage of dance music in the UK
is pretty shocking (with a few notable exceptions).

I've seen Mixmag - there's not enough cocaine there for them to write
 about.

did you ask him where he got his info from?

I did, but he started muttering and looking a bit embarrassed so I left it.
Perhaps he heard some media yuppie with a silly haircut shouting about it in a
Shoreditch pub?

I would hate Detroit music to become trendy.

Hi, here's a mix.

..and here's the tracklisting

There's lots of other mainly house and techno mixes by
Ireland-based DJs on this site too, plus some other
313-related stuff. Have a look.

sorry i'm late on this response tom. what you're saying is correct.
nothing we're talking about is a direct cause and effect, nor is
there an
exclusive factor that makes a musical movement settle down into an
institutionalized rut. i guess daytime city sanctioned events are
more of
a symptom of this homogenization, not the cause. but it still
disappoints
me to some extent.

the way i see things like that is that theyre just one more front
on which the battle against bad music is fought. radio is one
front. art galleries are another. night clubs. warehouses. video
game and movie sound tracks. city sanctioned gatherings. its all
about bringing the music to people in every possible manner. youve
gotta have people doing all the dirty work in all of these venues
to get the music ingrained in the culture. thats how hiphop did
it, and look at how ubiquitous it is now.

Hey list. I'm blanking on the URL for a college/NPR station in

I think this might be the station that Mike Huckaby has a weekly show
