Re: (313) Track ID Big 50 set the 2nd

Just some more IDs please :)

Mike, or anyone else, what are the first three tunes in the set, after
Amp Fiddler's 'I'm Doing Fine'. Classics I know, but I can't remember
them :(

By the way, a friend just listened to a new Carl Craig remix of a
Laurent Garnier tune (off 'The Clouding Making Machine) in a London
store and he said it was the bomb! Any opinions on this?

Thanks in advance

The ones I like are Rooted (various dance genres including bits of
techno, loads of drumbass/grime stuff) and a few doors up, Plastic Wax
(second hand junk and gems all mixed up, you can spend a whole afternoon
here!). Also, on the other side of town, Replay of Park Street (beats
aplenty).

If you want new dancehall and reggae, Genesis Muzik in the Easton
district is peerless (be careful here and please, no kerb crawling). And
for rarities, old psyche, rock'n'roll and ridiculously rare stuff with
prices to match, Rubber Soul records is not too far up the road.

Hope this helps. Please don't hoard all the good stuff, I'm going back
there soon!

ERP = just been stuck on that one track for now, but its raw
what_I_call_detroit style techno, more of an electro beat than a four four
(i think - memory like a sieve), lovely bassline sorta reminding of hmm,
juan a little bit on some of his tracks, nice strings/pads etc, all round
loveliness. very nice.

sungod 7. just a drum box, nothing else, like the old virgo rhythm records,
or gherkin jerks or whatever. I'd call the virgo beats a bit more obvioucly
funky, but these sungod riddims are off beat, lefty tackle, kind of
interesting and make good dj tools. not going to be for everyone and its
not something I'd listen to at home, but well, you know, serves a purpose
and all that

I'm with you on the E.R.P. Alex. Lovely, warm, Detroity bleeps and
skippy percussion on the two long tracks, including that hint of
valve-induced distortion ...

Many of you know how hard Down Low Music 12s are to find when the first
run's exhausted. In fact, it might already be too late if you've slept
till now!

By the way Alex, if I wasn't compes mentis enough to convey how much I

selection of groovy and crazy tracks - including some nutty things
which I was informed were 'italo'! - seamlessly mixed. I think you said

Ok, I know I'm not that much of a mixer meself, but I do know when I

indeed excellent stuff, enjoy the silence, as some feller once said...

just got the new Andy Stott promo last week. Can't remember the name of the
tracks or the label (sorry, having a bad memory day), but really enjoying the
music.

This man has some great kind of restrained passion in his tracks. Track one is
on a techno tip with Mills style rumbling undercarriage, still very fuzzed out
and ambient though somehow. Reminded me of Gez Varley, who I love (don't care
what anyone says). Track two is more broken up, with the rhythm coming in and
out.

Anybody know this man or anything about him?

Anyone here familiar with this:

http://www.virtu.tv/site/

I stumbled across a link from Herbert's site so I went and poked around.
Plenty of 313 related contact in the tracks but much of the collection seems
pretty dated (still great tracks, just not late-breaking.

Does anyone own it? Is the written information useful?

Does anyone know anything about the company doing it? Are they reputable?
I ask because it's a subscription based service and I'm nervous about the
fact that this is supposedly their premiere issue but the website has 2003
copyrights all over it.

It kind of reminds me of the old Trance Europe Express magazines...

Hey Les.
Yes - I bought a script when it first came out. A friend of mine knows the
editor and tipped me off a few years back. It was pretty nice while it
lasted...which was, as I recall, 2 issues. Both had nice CDs along with a
glossy text. If there any more, I never got them.
I know that I was sent a few CDs by the editor to 'tide me over' while I waited
for the next issue, which was long overdue (read: it hasn't arrived yet).
Nice concept, nice execution when it was executed. Maybe something is in the
works. I'll email my friend (who may be lurking on idm-l) and check. Last I
heard, he hadn't heard from him in a very long time, either. Truthfully, I had
forgotten about it for the past year or so.

(313) Saturn Jazz

2005-07-26 Thread Brian 'balistic' Prince
have a listen to this:

http://www.nasa.gov/123163main_cas-skr1-112203.wav

Saturn is a source of intense radio emissions, which have been
monitored by the Cassini spacecraft. The radio waves are closely
related to the auroras near the poles of the planet. These auroras are
similar to Earth's northern and southern lights. This is an audio file
of radio emissions from Saturn.

I see space, looking down on us, the future is growing near . . .

(313) Jupier Jazz mix, Suburban Night

2005-07-26 Thread Chana Goodman
Saw the Suburban Night show at smartbar in Chicago on
Fri. I really enjoyed it. His set was all over the
place, very versitile but a lot of fun. he started
with bunch of classic detroit stuff, Jupiter Jazz was
slipped in, but hardly detectable, a mix Ive never
heard. There was some acid thrown in there and then
later some classic house/rave tunes like these sounds
fall into my mind( I dont think thats the actual name
of the track but Im sure you all know what I mean)
which is actually one of my all time cheese factor
favorites. So yeah I was happy, and so were others.
It was an actual party, people dancing with each other
and gett'n down, reminded me of the early 90's. fun
fun fun.

was any one there??? can any one id the Jupiter Jazz
mix, it had my jaw dropping, it was very fast and a
little warped out.

Ok thats wierd I just looked back and my last message
actually went through, I did not think It had sorry
for the double message. I totally agree with you
David. I thought Superpitcher was pretty good, but
his selection was a little trendy.

btw I am totally jinxed on this list my messages are
always doubling up and or not going through, or any
number of blips, I dont know, I have very bad 313
karma.

I went to this and I just wished that James
 Pennington could have played
last and not Superpitcher, who despite playing okay
 just was not
exciting as a follow up to James's set.

Anyway, James really brought an awesome vibe with
 his mixing, I just
don't hear DJ's really working it proper much these
 days I guess! And
 of course, nice track selection.

Anyways it definitely felt like a real party,
 people
got pretty excited, fun fun fun.

So yeah any info on that Jupiter Jazz remix??
