(313) Rick Wilhite mix

2006-03-15 Thread Dan Bean
Apologies if this has been on before, but I've just been listening to a mix
that can be found here:

http://www.samurai.fm/thirdear/index.php

More on a house than a disco tip, gets going about half way through imo.

Best,

Dan.

Re: (313) Rick Wilhite mix - Track ID

2006-03-15 Thread Nathan

Really been digging this mix

can anyone tell me the track that comes around 10 mins into the mix has
the vocal:

why did you leave me this way, everyday.
you're always on my mind,
why can't you take the time call me

it's got a GU sounding flute in there.

cheers

nath

More On The Artists

Alex Under

After 2 very successfull 12s on Trapez and several eps on his own label in
Madrid , CMYK, Alex Under has become the most sought after Techno artist , in
Spain .
His been running the Cmyk label and record shop since 2001. He has also
launched Net 28 a discographic platform including a distribution network for
artists in Spain .

His productions are based on construction/deconstruction, hypnotic melodies,
over blunt electronic rhythms and fine basslines.Dispositivos De Mi Granja is
his debut Lp on Trapez and includes a explosive version of his hit Las
Bicicletas son para el Verano from his first ep on Trapez plus the biggest
variety so far on one format.. contrasting minimal techno with playful techno
house.. ranging from deep Techno to the most psychedelic track he has done and
one of the biggest hits he has done so
far: El Establo Queado.

Since the launch of the album ; Alex has been playing at least twice a week in
clubs around europe . He was recently voted amongst the top 5
of the best newcomers , in techno , by Germany's Groove Mag .
Now his ep for the legendary Plus 8 Imprint is about to be released amidst a
frenzy !.
My big money is on multiplicaciones 2 on Apnea . Awesome .! also look out for
his remix for Molder on Audiomatique . Killer ! I think both these records are
actually better than the forthcoming plus 8 record .
you can hear some audio clips for both records on

Dont get too deflated until you hear it - I have only
listened to the Villalobos track once and I can
understand the comments on the Tikiman one but I
really like the Delay one.

Also even though the one review isnt the most
encouraging - it does rate 4/5 from 8 voters

I'm always up for more good tunes, and if someone is making the stuff I make, I

oh check out the audio werner releases , alex under ofcourse , the
one release by ryan crosson was decent too . some of the releases
can be hit and miss but also akufen's psychometry series was bang on
the money . check out also the process and oliver hacke remixes of
akufen's psychometry series . some of jeff samuel's stuff is also
nice . trapez for me went through a long spell of very bad records ,
but lately they are back on form . my favourite recent release is
the quenum ep . as well as the new really off kilter release by dsp
speedwagon , who is the new moniker of justin maxwell in partnership
with someone im not familiar with .i'm sure there will be plenty to
keep you entertained

Anyone make some suggestions on good Trapez releases?

I've been told (despite the fact that I dont release my music) that I would
fit in well there, which to me, means I'd probably like the music they put
out.

I'm always up for more good tunes, and if someone is making the stuff I
make, I dont need to.

suggestions appreciated,

 More On The Artists

 Alex Under

After 2 very successfull 12s on Trapez and several eps on his own label
in
Madrid , CMYK, Alex Under has become the most sought after Techno artist ,
in
 Spain .
His been running the Cmyk label and record shop since 2001. He has also
launched Net 28 a discographic platform including a distribution network
for
 artists in Spain .

His productions are based on construction/deconstruction, hypnotic
melodies,
over blunt electronic rhythms and fine basslines.Dispositivos De Mi Granja
is
his debut Lp on Trapez and includes a explosive version of his hit Las
Bicicletas son para el Verano from his first ep on Trapez plus the biggest
variety so far on one format.. contrasting minimal techno with playful
techno
house.. ranging from deep Techno to the most psychedelic track he has done
and
one of the biggest hits he has done so
 far: El Establo Queado.

Since the launch of the album ; Alex has been playing at least twice a
week in
clubs around europe . He was recently voted amongst the top 5
of the best newcomers , in techno , by Germany's Groove Mag .
Now his ep for the legendary Plus 8 Imprint is about to be released amidst
a
 frenzy !.
My big money is on multiplicaciones 2 on Apnea . Awesome .! also look out
for
his remix for Molder on Audiomatique . Killer ! I think both these records
are
actually better than the forthcoming plus 8 record .
you can hear some audio clips for both records on
 www.boomkat.com http://www.boomkat.com
Surely 2006 is about to be a very big year for this artist .

2006-03-15 Thread Bryan Kasenic
Friday March 17

*THE BUNKER*

Sleeparchive (Hardwax | Berlin)
Function (Infrastructure, Phono | NYC)

Saint Patrick's Day is on a friday this year, and we are going to
party in style at the Bunker!

Sleeparchive has put out 5 of the best techno 12s we've heard in
the past few years, and we are beyond thrilled that he is joining
us for a live set at the Bunker. He is a shadowy figure who
avoids attention from the press, so not much is known about him.
His sound is extremely minimal, bringing together the best
elements of legendary techno artists like ø (Sähkö), Rob Hood,
Dan Bell, and Plastikman. We've heard some recent live sets
online, and they are incredible. Don't miss this very rare
opportunity to catch one of the biggest head turners in
electronic music at the moment.
http://www.sleeparchive.de/

Function (aka Dave Sumner and Portion Reform) has been one of the
major players in the NYC techno scene for a very long time. His
series of Substance events at Limelight were legendary, including
guests like Jeff Mills, Surgeon and many other notables. Now he's
doing the Phono series at Avalon (former Limelight) on Saturday
nights, bringing proper minimal techno to the weekend big club
crowd. He's also thrown some hugely successful afterparties at
DEMF the past two years. Aside from throwing great parties, Dave
is a very successful recording artist, label owner, and DJ. He
recently released Sleeparchive's remix of Regis on his
Infrastructure label, which has been a huge Bunker favorite since
it's release. Lately he has been using Ableton Live to create
DJ/Live hybrid sets full of exclusive remixes and re-edits of
heady minimal music. We're psyched to finally have Dave play at
the Bunker.

It looks like H schwarz is playing chicago tonight doing a laptop set along
with the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble, Kalil El Zabar's unit? Man, I hope this
show will come to SF! If any bay area heads hear something let me know.

From the deeper soul website:

Kicking off February 2006 is the Deeper Soul Tour, featuring on their annual
North American tour for Black History Month, The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble,
joined by Fareed Haque and DJ Josh Deep. The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble will be
layin’ down acoustic sets to kick off the night, set breaks will feature wax
laid down by Josh Deep, and the band will emerge for a second set featuring
Josh Deep on MPC 2000XL, Fender Rhodes and various trickery. All out freak
down dance parties with Josh Deep and local DJ talents take the night to
close. Watch for the tour touchin’ down in a city near you!

The tour is scheduled to commence in our hometown of Chicago for two shows at
Sonotheque (www.sonotheque.net), the home of the Deeper Soul monthly party. We
have very special shows lined up for these dates, where the Deeper Soul
Project will take shape once again, with IG Culture, Henrik Schwarz, and Josh
Deep joining the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble, for two nights, before they take
the show to Miami for WMC. Chicago, March 15th and 16th, make your plans
now! “Ancient to the Future” this is history in the making.

LATE I know, but if you check the Betalounge archives for 'Henrik' you'll
find it, and a DJ set with Juju Christian from '03. Listening now. It's
dope. Real Audio only unfortunately, but worth the pain of dealing with it.

natural. Though highly subjective and usually yielding unfair results.
But natural.

2006-03-15 Thread Jason Brunton
I kind of championed his sound at the time as it straddled two or
three different areas of electronic music- Basic Channel type dubby
Techno, deep vocal House and clicky/glitchy stuff- to be honest now I
can't actually stand to listen to any more than two or three of the
tracks produced at that time -so in that context I would class a lot
of the Luomo stuff as being simply boring- make of that what you will!
