I don't remember uploading any Bill Van Loo tracks, but there's plenty
of good listenin at chromedecay.org. There are some at cornwarning.com
of mine too, but I need to reorganize the site and expose a bunch of
stuff I uploaded and haven't linked to except on my livejournal and
whatnot.

Here's your hat btw.

Thanks for posting this, Kent - I hadn't had a chance to listen to it
yet
at all, so having the samples via beatport/juno is great!

On a quick listen to the samples, "equanimity" sounds just gorgeous,
"solum ferrum" sounds like classic Maurizio (M6, anybody?), "Astrum"
sound
like classic Detroit stuff (DX bass, pitchbent synth leads, etc),
"Premiata" wouldn't sound out of place next to anything on Carl Craig's
"Landcruising", and "Frozen Surface" has me wondering how this would
have
sounded on any of the DEMF sound systems this year (I have a feeling it
would have blown any of them up - fantastic!).

Great production for sure - I'll have to figure out if I'm going to pick
my faves based on the samples or try to get the whole thing.

Great work, DL!

Don't cheat yourself kid. Get 'em all. I feel you on the basic channel
impressions, but I swear if you listen to the full trax loud and clear,
there's so much more movement and playfulness in ways you wouldn't
imagine (reverb dueling with the pans in a battle for your brains
anyone?). Trust. You'll hate yourself if you don't cop it and you hear
the one you didn't get out and loud (or in and loud for that matter). My
8 cents.

does it have jazz/disco samples?

of dumb rave chick wearing headphones on cover, beyond terrible. 1
good track on the entire album, but it's a stunner...really dark
and reay cool mood, and no samples..."night station".
how does this yore one compare? i want more like that night station
track...not interested in more of the sample loop style..

Night station is a good track. It was "grimm" that got me on the
whole thing tho and maybe "mecha" cos it's out of the ordinary for
him (midway between rick wade and big daddy rick if you see what i
mean).

I'm not complaining about the new stuff (in fact the production
sounds pretty tight), just that I've maybe overdosed on his tracks
over the years and want to see him push things a little. :)

ps i'm biased but the new convextion on AW is really really good,
going into sounds not covered by previous convextion or e.r.p.
releases...especially dig the model 500-y cut and the one that is
sort of in between SAW and drexciya with the crazy middle-eastern
sounding strings...props to arne for picking adventurous stuff and
not type-casting the convextion sound..

must hunt this down... :)

(313) My disco obsession - Queen Constance?

2007-06-12 Thread kent williams

A new CD is coming out which comprises an album originally released on
Queen Constance records. This is, from all reports one of the very
earliest and most obscure NY disco labels, and the original vinyl
releases are crazy expensive on EBay.

Link to amazon page for "University Dances of 1978"

http://tinyurl.com/23pjwy

I discovered this through a mention of Traffic Entertainment Group on
the Wikipedia page for Sleeping Bag records. Traffic conrols the
Sleeping Bag catalog now, and also he Queen Constance label catalog.
They also have new releases from Team Shadetek, of all people, and a
bunch of Hip Hop and R&B acts.

Anyway, anyone have any of these Queen Constance 12"? I have to wait
until july for the CD to drop but I'd love to hear some of it.

i like those old rick wades on harmonie park ok. they have a nice mood to them,
but they're pretty straight-forward sample-loop tracks and nothing that special
to me in the end. quality but pretty standard sample loop house stuff.
