I was in Vegas a few weekends ago for a stag party which included
visiting XS, one of the venues in the article. Though Sherburne does
an excellent job of deconstructing the Vegas club phenomenon, he
doesn’t even come close to capturing the full horror of the place
itself. No offense to anyone who has to live and earn in the city, but
the tourist bit (i.e. the strip) is probably one of the most horrible
places I’ve ever been.

Was listening to my Kraftwerk station on Pandora, and I get a audio ad

Certainly not expecting to hear this sort of promotion for Mr. Hawtin,
had to laugh none the less.

Hey Philip,
I'll take a stab in the dark, one of the Yamaha DX series , or maybe
a Kurzweil K2000. But with your statement alone of saying it's an organ

pushes me towards the DX series.

I didn't see ANY clues in this Carl Craig interviews Kenny Larkin in his

pt2

But an interesting video none the less.

Most of the synths in this pic, are mid to late 90's synths/samplers:

So no clue, but I'll have to relisten to the tracks again, but I'm still

'Time...Space...Transmat...' Model 500 is the sound of the Future.

Founder and 'Godfather of Techno' Juan Atkins' first group Cybotron
began making records in 1981. Tunes like the oft-sampled 'Clear'
helped define the sound of Electro while 'Techno City' provided the
name and blueprint for the new music coming from the Motor City in the
mid and late 80's.

Atkins began recording and performing as Model 500 in 1985. His
Metroplex imprint issued 'No UFO's' and 'Night Drive,' tunes that
embodied and informed the stripped down, futuristic, funky-electronic
ethos that was and is Detroit Techno. Further releases on European and
American labels solidified his position at the forefront of the genre.

Detroit veterans 'Mad Mike' Banks DJ Skurge snd Mark Taylor 'DJ
Vintage Future' joined Model 500 in 2008 and the four continue to
explore the possibilities and push the boundaries of the sound.

We're proud and honored to be hosting Model 500, performing live for
their 1st West Coast appearance, along with resident DJ's Conor,
Solar, and Josh Cheon (Dark Entries Records, Honey Soundsystem) at the
3rd Anniversary of No Way Back. Join us at Mezzanine on November 16th
and witness the Future...

Rick Wilhite Bio:

Although he may not be as talked about as his Detroit peers and fellow 3
Chairs collaborators Kenny Dixon Jr. and Theo Parrish, there’s no
doubting Rick The Godson Wilhite’s position as one of the central
characters in the city's house music heritage. The record store was his
first step along the way, and after learning the ropes of the vinyl
industry via his job at Buy-Rite Music, he set about becoming a shop
proprietor in his own right. The House Of Music was his first venture,
and up until its closure late last year, he was the owner of Vibes New
and Rare Music.

Though his work behind the counter may be a thing of the past, his work
behind the mixing desk certainly isn't. His sporadic sample-heavy
singles for KDJ and most recently Stilove4music have become sought after
slabs of wax, changing hands for serious amounts of money on sites like
Discogs and eBay, yet fans looking to get a slice of Wilhite's
production talent will be able to do so at a much more reasonable rate
when he drops his debut solo album in the coming months. The final
string to his bow is his skill behind the decks, with his much-refined
turntable technique working in tandem with an enviable knowledge of
disco, house and techno.

Renegade Rhythms Bio:
Renegade Rhythms is the foremost purveyor of QUALITY
Techno/House/Electro/Acid/Disco on the West Coast. Renegade Rhythms is a

Bio:

Electronic composer, web designer, videographer, sci-fi junkie, apple
computer expert world class DJ, these are but a few of the hats worn
by the anomaly that is Claude Young Jr. This Detroit native who now
resides in Tokyo (Japan) was born the son of legendary WJLB (Detroit)
radio personality, station founding member and production wizard Claude
Young Sr.

After early interest in television production and some experience
working as an intern (and later mix show DJ) for several radio programs
in the early 90's, CYJ intensified his interest in what he refers to as
the art of the DJ. Coached by close friend and mentor Anthony Shake
Shakir he became a natural almost literally overnight.

His editing production skills in studio (taught to him by his father
years of experimentation alone) saw him work on a string of records for
both independent and major record labels. Musto Bones, Technasia, Gary
Numan, Carl Craig, Joey Beltram, Inner City and 4Hero are but a few of
the artist either remixed or edited by Young.

He was also cofounder of two of Detroit electronic music's most
respected record imprints: Frictional Records (with Anthony Shake
Shakir) and 7th City Records (with Dan DBX Bell).

Detroit legend” is a term often bandied about, however, through amazing
productions, his days serving the public at the highly influential
Record Time store, his work-shops schools set-up to share his in-depth
production knowledge and his raw passion for the music, this son of the
Motor City earns his reputation. And for those of you not yet lucky
enough to witness this man mix records, trust us, from once the tone-arm
hits the first record, you’re in for a special treat, a journey through
raw, deep, energetic soulful music.

Mike will be joining us for a special set to celebrate our favorite
philosophizing, futurist Jazz musician from the depths of outer space,
Sun Ra. During his near fourscore years visit to destination earth, Sun
Ra injected a new philosophy and approach to music and art. When one
delves into the enigmatic world of Sun Ra, it’s easy see why Huckaby
holds a place so dear in his heart for the eccentric composer. Sun Ra
brought some of the earliest electronic music to our planet and not just
through the keyboard solos and synths he incorporated into his music,
but also the themes of space, mythology the future which became
staples for modern electronic music.

Also for a treat are some very rare special sets from both Tom Mitchell
 Dave Bate.

Come explore the Inner Dimensions of Sound ...

Celebrating our 15 year Anniversary as Renegade Rhythms this year we
would like to thank everyone who has shown us support over the years it
is very much appreciated, and we thank you for your continued support as
shows like this would not be possible otherwise, Cheers! ...

Well, the one thing that I can say is that if you have the Jeff Mills
mispress, then you would know. The Jeff Mills
disc is at a different speed, then the Hood disk, and the it's like
night and day musically.Hood side is softer minimal and bleepy at times
and the

Mills side is pretty agressive/harsh stuff. If you can't tell which disc
is Jeff and which disk is Rob, then you probably should give up the copy
to someone who can :)

I remember when we got them in my shop out here when it first came out
and we all looked at each other
after listening and said can this be right and figured It's got to be a
mispress. Wish I had actually picked up a copy

of the non-mispress as I would like to have the other tracks.

If I run across my copy, I'll make some quick mp3's, but not sure how
soon that will be... so maybe someone else

Re: (313) kinda interesting

Another article blaming Internet downloading for lowering of sales of
the Record industry, when
a lot of it is just bad business on Record labels end, and not knowing
their fan bases.

Why does an LP(album) cost $10 and the same CD (album) costs $15, when
it is cheaper for the CD to be made then the
record.

Ringtones are quicker, cheaper and downloadable. Maybe if they made
their music catalogs the same, they migh see the same

effect.
