Re: [313] how was madonna???
I attended this concert. It wasn't really what i was expecting though. Since I haven't really had a chance to listen to her latest cd except for the singles that have come off of it I heard alot of new material. It was a great show although I didn't know that she had picked up playing the gutair. The Stardust/Holiday track was really put together well. I was rather impressed with the Kraftwerk reference also. I also expected more dancing and some older songs but oh well It was a great show. I couldn't believe all the limo's outside on Sunday night at least there must have been like a thousand +. The crowd was rather eccentric and since I took my mom it was a huge but entertaining culture shock for her. I wanna know though what city exactly did she grow up in I heard both Waterford and Rochester Hills but I'm just curious. -Stacey - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [313] Detour/mixes?
Stay away from Off the Chain for the y2k though..its horrible its like Assault took all his tracks and just played them all at 45 and +8 on a modified table. Whenever he wrecks it says 'Dj Assault Off the Chain for the y2k' which it does repeatedly. It is quite annoying actually... In a message dated 02/07/2001 2:48:09 PM Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: There's a ton of mix cd's out there. DJ Assault's got more than a few of 'em (like the Off the Chainseries on Intuit-Solar), Snowflake's got a few good CD's. Hell, I even thought of doing one just for fun. Re: [313] Re: [[313] demf 2001]
I thought it was 3 so we have 2 years left untill the contract needs to be renewed. With the money and people that the festival generated I don't think the city will have a problem approving it for years to come unless major problems arise but last year with that large of crowd had very little problems arise -stacey In a message dated 01/05/2001 1:15:14 PM Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: for the event for the next 4 years @ Hart Plaza during the Memorial holday Do not allow yourself to be programmed - Underground Resistance
Re: [313] Bass booty ?
Short Dick Man was by Gillete originally I believe and i've been looking for it everwhere...along with that Dj's Girl track by Katalina..if anyone knows where I can find a copy of eachI'd appreciate it greatly -Stacey In a message dated 12/21/2000 11:17:14 PM Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Are you thinking about the Short Dick Man track by DJ Funk? That has got to be one of the funniest tracks ever made. My friend has a copy that he keeps because it's just too damn funny not to. For those who Know - Mike Banks

Re: [313] trance - vibe killer?
If someone doesn't like a style of music I wouldn't call it following a trend. Take another genre of music such as hard house. I don't like hard house at all in fact I probably hate it more than I hate trance am I following a trend? Just b/c someone like techno and hates trance doesn't mean they are following any trend at all. It means they don't like trance. I understand u are a trance p a Jayson but this isn't other lists and trance for the majority isn't appreciated on this listyes there are some exceptionsbut again I said majority...the topic of the list in Detroit techno and related subjects and it strives to keep that topic...I don't think any of us are followers...we just share a common interest and a liking for wonderful music. -Stacey In a message dated 12/16/2000 1:24:15 PM Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: so, what your saying is that you wanted to tell us all that you hate trance so that way we'll accept you? does trashin on a genre of music validate you as a dj? I guess i find it humorous that those of you who cause the most rucous about hating trance, are those of you who are being followers as much as those who love trance. discussion topic? For those who Know - Mike Banks
Re: [313] True People: Detroit Techno Comp, Pacou, Rob Hood
Well his remixes of the covers were definetly great. I feel that his sister's vocals and his production put the original Greatest Dancer by I believe Sister Sledge to shame. Rob did a great job with both his dj set and his live set...it just seems sometimes people are trying to critique the music the deeply that they stop enjoying it. Innovation or not he was playing at a club where he is paid to play music to allow people to have a good time and dance and to what I witnessed he did all that very well. Rob was not playing in front of a panel that would be picking apart his music and making connections such as how covers are related to rock sets or if doing covers is innovative or not. The point is Rob did what he was there to do and he did it extremely well. Now for discussion sake on this list I can see where this topic would come up but to be disapointed in his set for the reasons you have stated seems kind of rediculous...just enjoy the music while ur hearing it and disect it if you want later. -Stacey In a message dated 12/11/2000 7:28:12 PM Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: I'm not sure how I feel about Rob hood's live set. I'm a longtime fan of his music, but that set left me with mixed feelings. In some ways, it was interesting to hear his take on some classic tracks. In another, I really wonder what the state of the art is when techno producers start doing sets of mostly covers. I thought covers were relegated to the classic rock set. What's next - a retro nostalgia phase of techno? A lot of people I know were really dissapointed. Which is certainly not to say you should have been, too. But it's a little distrubing when an aesthetic that prides itself on innovation starts reproducing earlier works verbatim, without really trying to make them into something new. ___
Theo Parrish and Kerri Chandler tonight
I know that these two are playing tonight in Detroit but I'm not sure of the location. If anyone has any info they could pass along it would be great. For those who Know - Mike Banks
