Re: (313) 808 State (what you don't read in Techno Rebels)
previously.. i can't help but think it all went downhill once he'd gone.. Well you have to be A Guy Called Gerald fan to make a comment like that. How can you downplay Exel? Especially people who lived through that era. i am a guy called gerald fan - hands up.. but i'm also old enough to have lived thru that era (check my thinning hair and beer belly).. by downhill - i guess i'm getting at the route they went down with collaborations.. bjork, bernard sumner and david bowie for example.. you've maybe blocked their god awful single with ub40 from your memory - but that was released shortly after ex:el.. each album had gradually more ill conceived collaborations (imo) that were aimed at a different kind of listener.. i'm a fan of them, so don't think i'm being harsh - they've made some bad (not meaning good) records imo, that's all.. Re: (313) 808 State
better late then never but i can agree on this one. i should chip in as well.. the period with just before ninety and ex:el was the best. wasn't that fond of solaris (or what was the album after ex:el called?) with ninety and ex:el they got more more their own typical sound, with olympic and lift etc. don't know even how to call it - but ninety in it's original form (not the tommy boy us version) is the best for me.. indeed with magical dream, donkey doctor, cobra bora and more - only eight/nine tracks - i mean, it really was an album my favourites were quadrastate and ninety.. agree with marsel, ninety is still a great listen as an album - quite dark towards the end.. it was when albums didn't have to fill an entire cd either - so it's not exhausting to listen to, just the right length.. i'd just say that i'm not sure whether this was 808 state's own typical sound as gerald was still around at the time.. i can't help but think it all went downhill once he'd gone.. the characteristics of quadrastate and ninety that i enjoy the most are really obvious in gerald's solo stuff on hot lemonade and automanikk, and aren't there in 808 state once he'd gone.. and speaking of gerald we ought to mention his inertia stuff - two really blinding twelves on retroactive and juice box.. RE: [313] is it music?
a couple of thoughts.. it's a reese bassline - kevin master reese saunderson.. not alex 'metalheadz' reece.. d'n'b/hardcore had reese basslines before it had alex reece.. nobody who was into d'n'b should even make this mistake or else they haven't been listening.. d'n'b has proved itself - it's influenced modern r'n'b and spawned the whole uk garage thing - personally i'm not into either, but it proves that d'n'b has influenced/inspired people - so it's music.. techno influenced d'n'b (see above) and you don't have to be into both, but you can't go around saying one thing isn't music just 'cause you're not into it.. turning your nose up at d'n'b is no better than the d'n'b people (a load of ex-ravers who discovered a few techno records round about 1993) who deserted photek when he put house tracks on the last album.. i like delsin.. the new delsin album by dimension5 is lush.. rave on kids - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://twoplayer.net/theo http://twoplayer.net/kdj _ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[313] west CiM sound :)
What I like about this West London sound is that it can incorporate so many other sounds. The more electro Delsin stuff, like CiM works well in my opinion, even though most people wouldn't consider it West London house. cim is going to be made-up when he reads this :) i can guarantee you that you won't hear any stuff by cim (much to his relief) down at the co-op, you're likely to hear some 313 stuff, maybe a bit of ur - but as somebody pointed out the stuff that is being played in the main has it's roots elsewhere.. this is music to dance to - so the sound has more to do with house, reggae, drum'n'bass, latin, hip-hop, afro-beat, etc.. i'd say delsin is a bit too laidback for co-op, but marsel is bound to disagree with me :) the planet-e comp '2000 black: the good good' is a decent pointer to the diverse sounds that make the scene up.. and it's even on a 313 label :) [EMAIL PROTECTED] _ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

rushhour mos
previously... MOS feat. Aroy Dee easily one of my favorites of the year with Nu Era's broken techno EP as well on the label Rush Hour out of Amsterdam...look out for a load of hot record on this label to come including EPs by Dan Curtin, Titonton, Recloose, Aardvarck $tinkworx :) Sorry Minto, what label are you speaking of? snip the label is rushhour - a really great debut from mos who also featured on delsin's going thru life comp... and yeah - do check the nubian mindz mixes on rushhour, my favourite record so far this year - it's being released again soon with a domu mix (aka reinforced's sonar circle) on delsin... and the pub record isn't out yet - but it's a stunner, we've played it a couple of times on nortroute... as good as you'd expect... oh - and yeah, the duplex record is too good otto, excellent :) stephen.. http://nortroute.net _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
Re: [313] Peacefrog 100th release
previously... but strictly old material.what a shame. that norma jean bell is new.. isn't it?? snip maybe - but it's bound to be on the album isn't it... also would have been nice to see one of the otherworld collective tracks on there or a bit more dan curtin... wonder how much it's gonna cost?... RE: [313] Stacey Pullen and Mark and Dego
previously... i read an interview with stacey somewhere (forgot the place) where he spoke very enthusiastic words about the 'planetary folklore' album by as one/kirk degiorgio on mowax snip for those who are curious, marsel, dan and i have been playing quite a lot of this sort of sound on http://nortroute.net for some time now (a lot of what we play is archived as streaming mp3s)... it's not an easily defined scene - just a group of people who help each other out on tracks... brings in styles such as soul, fusion, techno, drum'n'bass, electro, house, afrobeat, boogie... key movers are definately mark and dego plus some of the other reinforced regulars such as domu (sonar circle) and seiji, the people crew, i.g culture, bitasweet and the bugz in the attic crew (seiji, afronaught, kaidi tatham , etc), laws of motion, phil asher (restless soul, phoojun, etc), archive and it's new sister neroli, flipside, even some you'll know such as rushhour and delsin... lots to check out, and some really quality material as well... relevant to 313?... well if you'd been at co-op when they dropped ur's timeline you'd see it is... also the recent 'broken techno ep' by nu era on archive is as good as anything that's come from detroit in recent years (imo)... check some of it out and make your mind up... all the best, [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://nortroute.net _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
Re: [313] 4Hero Pseudonyms
previously... oh yeah... cold mission or something too... internal affairs... 4 hero = tek9 (dego), manix (mark), points proven, nu era, jacob's optical stairway, tom and jerry, pavel dego kostiuk is dego too I think... snip hum - i like this game :) ok, you've also got r-solution (reinforced), private productions (reinforced), pd3 (payday), plutonia (visions), maximum style (parousia), project ako (reinforced), dollis hill (metalheadz), the accused (reinforced)... and respect is also due to ian and gus who played a part in some of the stuff as well... and just wait until you all hear the cover 4 hero have done of ramsey lewis/minnie ripperton's 'les fleurs'... seriously good stuff, the album is going to be massive... stephen http://nortroute.net _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
Optic Nerve release (Delsin)
previously... does anyone know the exact release date of the Pharoh release on Delsin? snip yeah - it should be out in april, it's very good as well... ok - marsel pays me to say stuff like this ;) stephen http://nortroute.net _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
Re: [313] Recloose, Dan Curtain and Common Factor
a thread about music! - should also mention a new member of the rushhour stable - 'emoticon'... an offshoot of tom churchhill's headspace label... the first releases is a sampler featuring cim, mark mclaren, john braine and future beat alliance... next release is by mark mclaren himself (and very nice it is)... more info at - http://www.emoticonrecordings.com/ [EMAIL PROTECTED] _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
Re: [313] Recloose, Dan Curtin and Common Factor
previously... lots of really talented, well known people coming up on rushhour too...! gonna continue to become a great label im sure! snip yeah, i should've said - the next few releases on rushhour are really something - nubian mindz and domu mixes of aardvarck are essential, if you haven't checked nubian mindz yet this is a good place to start - he's making some of the most energetic and abstract stuff i've heard since early carl craig (as high praise as i can give)... good to see/hear rushhour and delsin establishing a connection with what's going on in london at the moment as well as with detroit and amsterdam... Re: [313] Recloose, Dan Curtain and Common Factor
agree with all the comments posted on this one so far - the recloose mix is the one that's doing it for me, but i can't really fault the common factor or mettle mixes... who's mettle?... just thought i'd post to clear up which label it's on - it's not metamorphic - but belgium's elypsia... the tracks are all mixes of tracks from dan curtin's 'pregenisis' album from about a year or so ago - a great album in itself... just one of the cool releases on elypsia in the last couple of weeks - bit of a return to form for them (what with the scan7 release as well)... while i'm posting, i must recommend the two upcoming releases on delsin and rushhour by optic nerve and mos ft. aroy dee respectively... you'll be hard pushed to find two better records this year - absolute classic techno out of amsterdam... and for all the broken beat fans - do check out the new dhj record on archive, a cover of level 42's 'shapeshifter' - and a wonderful one at that... Re: KDJ Discography
previously... the most complete info about Kenny Dixon Jr.Discography: http://www.twoplayer.net/kdj/ snip cheers for the compliment - anyone who want's to contribute anymore information is always welcome, trying to make the site as comprehensive as possible... i've been meaning to mail the list actually, does anybody know about this new site - http://www.moodymann.com - ???... it appears as though somebody has registered the url for an unofficial site, but they've used artwork from my site without asking... if you're reading this and you've done it or you know the person responsible - i'd rather you didn't, i don't want to be implicated in registering that url that's all... ok, back to listening to 'come into knowledge' - ramp [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://twoplayer.net http://nortroute.net _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
Re: [313] New Stacey Pullen LP
there's a promo of vertigo been around for about a month now, a-side is vertigo, and the b-side is a 4 hero mix of vertigo... i've been told this mix isn't getting a proper release (god only knows why), so i'd try and get your hands on a copy asap - if you're into 4 hero at least anyway... to be honest i prefer the origonal... not heard the album yet - only one or two tracks and vertigo is the standout by some distance... and while you're in the shop - if you haven't already, check out the new ibex ep 'macamba'... totally stunning, has planet e written all over it - a classic... as i'm posting i'd like to apologize to anyone who got bored with us posting nortroute playlists (re: last weeks discussion)... it's never been marsel, dan or myself's intention to spam the lists - just contribute in a positive way... nortroute is about playing some new music, some classics and broadening peoples thoughts a bit - we're not about self promotion... anyway, we'll be setting up a list soon for nortroute, forcefield, madvision and twoplayer updates - join if you're interested (details will be on the sites)... radio2
previously... On a completely different note, 70s soul fans should be sure to check out Radio 2's show on Leroy Hutson's Hutson I album tonight at 10pm. What an LP! This is the first time I have ever looked forward to a show on Radio 2, I think. snip they also did a show a couple of weeks ago on minnie riperton - they featured 'perfect angel' rather than the earlier stuff produced by charles stepney - but still, it's magical stuff... good on radio2 eh ;) [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://twoplayer.net http://nortroute.net _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
Re: [313] Re: 2000 black release on Planet E
previously... I've heard tell that a new Tom and Jerry (4Hero under ANOTHER name)release is coming soon too... Yeah the Broken techno Ep is nice... Some very detroity sounding melodies on there... snip i hadn't heard about a tom and jerry release - but there's lots going on at reinforced again... marc mac is partly resposible for the recent special touch releases, there's a new twelve by code071 (remember london sumtin'?), the awesome nu-wave ep by alpha omega and the forthcoming 'urban jungle sountrack' comps mixed by strech... i was made up when i first heard the 4hero mix of amazon - always considered them and reinforced to be the uk's answer to underground resistance, so it made me very happy - although timeline is the better track ;) [EMAIL PROTECTED] _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

re: [313] recell/stasis '93 comp
i've got a bit of info on my site if you're interested in finding out a bit more about b12 :: http://twoplayer.net/labels/b12 :: i think the b12 site is still available at hyperreal as well, just hasn't been updated in some years... the redcell/stasis cd more or less compiled b1208 and b1211 - both of which are still relatively easy to find since they only recently went out of stock at the distributors... try smallfish maybe... if you're lucky one of us might play a b12 track on http://nortroute.net wednesday night... hope that helps... hawtin brand...
i'm not sure that the change in ritchies music can be blamed on agressive branding... sheet one as a brand concept was pretty strong, stronger than consumed imo... imagine if ritchie had released sheet one under his own name with a picture of himself on the cover, it's pretty unlikely it would've done as well as it did... personally i prefer the fuse material though ;) [EMAIL PROTECTED] _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
