May I say I wasn't v. impressed with this?!? Was expecting more
because

of his prod. and of comments on him.

IMHO, some of the best tracks he plays here are now famous because of
other mixes (mostly Harvey's sarcasticdisco and Marni's tutu33, which
are miles away better than this). The sequencing and mixing are not v.
inspiring, too...

I agree with you Gui. Some of the tunes are ok but it's not presented
in a very imaginative way.

First time I saw Joakim I was very impressed. He played loads of great stuff
and his mixing was actually quite good, but every time since then there has
only been a couple of good moments and the rest was crap to middling, with
fairly poor mixing. I don't geddit...

I feel you guilherme. That tutu33 mix is insane! It's wy too short
though. Any mixes with that same slow, doped-up, tripped out throbby
type of italo (good stuff) that you know of? I checked the joakim and I
liked it, but I also noticed the lack of...something special?

Short? It is 1:11 (71 minutes) here... Long enough IMO.

It is not that bad, but for sure it is not inspiring...
Have you heard Harvey's sarcasticdisco? It has some italo/cosmic but
mostly it is balearic... wicked selection:
http://www.harveysarcasticdisco.com/cd/audio/harveysarcasticdiscocd.ram

Also like one of MozArt mixes which url was posted around here some time
ago. It is one with Los Ninos + loads of drums + some old Jorge Ben...
sounds quite strange, but rather well sequenced/mixed.

Thanks for all this info on Comic music, guys. I find it fascinating.

I know this is an obvious question, but does anyone have any recordings of
these Baldelli/Mozart mixes? I would love to hear them, in any format. Hit
me off list, if you'd prefer.

Incidentally, the decoration in these nightclubs is pretty mindblowing. I
love this picture of Baldelli and Moz Art with Grace Jones:

thanks very much for sharing. just downloading your mix now, looking
 forward to it!

their instantly recognisable sonic trademark was this original use of the
eq. not in a chicago / us kind of way where you go down to the bass level
then bring back the treble or the other way round (this bass phatness
fetishism only started in the late 80s in the us, or am i wrong?) but in
 a
very psychedelic way where they fvcked with the midrange and treble and
 kind
of turned the tracks inside-out, you really have to hear this to get the
idea..

I've heard loads of stories that are pretty interesting. In particular
 Bill

here with a few great bits on info - check it out! 2nd page is

Hey - sorry for being really daft here but what is Cosmic? Is/was this a
festival in Italy or a wacky club?

If so where? and why?

And what is the chicago references here? Just looking at all the pictures
(impressive as they are) leaves me even more baffled.

I dig that mix but then im a CBS junkie so its not far from my regular
programming.
