I think it's just because you said you disliked some people's... deferential attitudes toward... the players, which might translate, in a jokey way, as you saying that you dislike player-haters. That probably made the lyrics to that song come into Marc's head. I doubt it's serious! :) yeah sorry for my random outbust - it was purely for the ghetto-comedy as explained above :] -- This message is intended only for the personal and confidential use of the designated recipient(s) named above. I loved the Human League/TLC but thought the Whitney/Kraftwerk splice was a bit lame, but only cos I hate Whitney. Some of these bootlegs are terrible but occasionally the juxtaposition works. Not 313 related but the Christina Aguilera/Strokes bootleg is another one that seems to work and some of those Missy bootlegs are cool too. -Original Message- From: Klaas-Jan Jongsma [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, October 04, 2002 3:04 PM To: Odeluga, Ken; Toby Frith; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Org Subject: RE: (313) Whitney V Krafwerk bootleg At 15:53 +0100 04-10-2002, Odeluga, Ken wrote: That is beyond terrible. Oh no! I should have started with something better than that! For the record I absolutely love everything I have ever heard on UR, am a big fan of Axis/Purposemaker and everything Carl Craig has ever touched. Early Plus8/Transmat/KMS - basically all the stuff you guys love. Why the hell do you think I have subscribed to this list? I even like Motown and The White Stripes! You can keep Eminem though. ;-) The only thing I don't like is some people's precious and deferential attitudes toward the music and the players, but I guess some people don't like my attitude either. ...I absolutely love everything I have ever heard on UR Even the new live version of 'Hi-Tech Jazz'? I never thought I'd say this about a UR record but I think it's verging on awful... the original is one of my favourite, life-changing, era-defining records (along with the rest of UR-025) but this new version makes me cringe... Girls on Top it is. It has been out for quite some time. Very nice, actually sounds made for each other, great vision. he otherside is TLC Scrubs and and somethig else but cannot remember. I hardly play that one due to the Whitneywerk one being so good. By the way, did I miss the Kraftwerk write-ups from Paris. Richie would be a funny Janus-faced playa-hata' at that, since he's probably the most simultaneously adored dissed techno DJ/producer since Jeff Mills (who is, i think, still the most polarizing force in 313-discussions -- either you worship his stuff or you think he's terribly overrated). But y'know, at least Jeff Mills never (to my knowledge) openly dissed anybody for what they chose to put in their sets. And as popular (and wealthy) as Hawtin is, you'd think he could afford to buy himself some magnanimity. (*IF* he actually dissed Dave Clarke, which I never read before or heard him say.) -marc
