whats up with everyone loving that angola remix so much?

I dig it too, but the pepe bradock get down dub version is sooo much
better IMO, although not for DJing I guess.

I'd like to hear the ultramarine remixes, as I've been a UM fan since like
94 and swas disappointed when they stopped putting out tracks.

well ken i'll give you my opinion if you like.

the Congoman 12 doesn't really sound like it has any C2 involvement but
is just a really nice track to have if you like dub/old reggae. the
 sleeve/packaging is nice too.

the Beanfield 12 is really good...kind of on the same vibe as the Busted
Trees 12 (which i think is better from a 313 depth point of view, and
easier to get hold of). the mix is a long epic with a female vocal but
doesn't fall into the trap of being too smooth and sophisticated. this
and the busted trees thing are essential c2 12s if you ask me
(especailly if you like carl's recent output...ie angola rmx etc)

Do you know where Piccadilly got their info that it's Erykah Badu on this
record from? It doesn't sound like her.

I think you said in your post that you'd listened to a snatch of this and
picked it up as it sounded different. My impression on listening to it in
the shop was that it was not one of C2s strongest moments - in fact I really
disliked it! Now you've got the record home and had more time to consider
it can you tell me if I need to revisit and reassess?

not sure, just read it on their site.. Ask Tim?! think he wrote it.
It does say on the record vocals by x can't remember the name but its
someone Badu?
maybe they put two and two together

erm, well. I bought it, I think I've listened to it twice! Me and Dunc
played a few records out at the weekend, and it was about the only new
thing I had I didn't take, so maybe that says something.
It's totally different, not really a techno record as such. I dunno what
you call that stuff?
nu rb? gawd knows not much electronics in it though... I dunno I need
to listen more, it sounded OK.

maybe check it again, but I ain't saying it's hot.. just maybe not my style
as such... you play alot of 'different' sorts of things though?

ha ha, for some reason it reminds me of kelvin! bet he plays it...!

probably you need to know that for some reason in the last few years, I
started to just buy Carl Craig tracks pretty much blind. I never used to,
dunno what changed there. I think he had a run of just outstanding remixes,
which I felt were some of the best techno records around at that time. Also,
I think some of Carl's best tracks are when he already starts with
something, a sample, or obviously parts for a mix...

I'm crap at buying records sometimes, I end up with stuff from obvious
producers, I hardly ever take a chance on things. guess thats what a ltd
budget does for you.

blah blah blah, I talk too much s**t.

there was a remix of another zap mama tune on shelter last year, think it
was a track off the album 'seven'. the album they did after that was quite
electro influenced from what i can remember, never bought it though.
i loved the earlier work of zap mama [some of it was used in a movie by
matthieu kassovitz called 'metisse'] just beautiful female accapellas,
always loved the rhythm of those songs.
haven't heard this release, but i am curious to find out what c2 has done to
zap mama.

ive played that c2 rmx nearly every time ive deejayed for the last
year, and it ALWAYS gets people going. its a guaranteed floor
filler. its got that long into with the claps and then the buildup
of the bassline, and then when the drums come in its pandamonium.
the pepe mix is alright.

yeah i didnt feel it at all either. i liked the breakdown with the
piano but otherwise it sounded like a generic wanna be
dancehall/r+b pop crossover, in the worst possible way.

in other not so suprising news i bought the rerelease of parallel
dimensions for the 4 cuts i didnt already have. id have preferred
if they each had a side of vinyl dedicated to them, but oh well.
the pressing wasnt too quiet.
