Hey, what song is it in the game?

It's the main tune from Lazy Jones, by David Whittaker.

I picked up the SID file from
http://www.c64gg.com/l3.html but I can't seem to find a tune from the
game that sounds like Zombie Nation.

I can send you the SID of you want to.

I do recognize song 7 in the SID as being Blondie(?) though...

Ahh, the old C64 SID sound is bringing me too much nostalgia (lo-hi
lo-hi lo-hi lo-hi...).

The machine is also used by Zombie Nation.

I saw a full evening of Gigolo at Sonar in Barca this summer and i must say
that it was one of the best nights ever, included the best video show ever.
Miss Kitten and the hacker live, zombie nation live, miss kittin spinning
some crazy electro/disco/wave/techno, david carretta and dj hell. They even
got a bodybuilder on stage. For some footage of that night see the Party
Nights at www.gigolo-records.de

No sh!t that was Miss Kitten?? That experience was unforgettable. Oh yeah I

Ahem...uh,
the right place to mention the upcoming release on mooner's new label
erkrankung durch musique, that is a remix compilation of unknown SID songs
called SID musique. Ripped or not, he is trying to bring back

the nerdy SIDs to disko. =)

And it even gets tastier: the melody is from 1984.
The whole track is ripped from an old Commodore 64 game-tune from the
game

 Lazy Jones.

I just got this record - Zombie Nation's Kernkraft 400, which came out
originally on International Deejay Gigolo Records and has been licensed by
Central Station here. It's a very Germanic electro track, very gigolo
style.
There is a great remix by Miss Kittin The Hacker with a female voice
(Miss
 K) dropping shout outs to everywhere from Detroit to Munich and all those
down with the Zombie Nation, from Drexicya and Hell to Elvis (!). Great
synth layers. Has anyone heard it? It's really cool - and funny!

I just saw Hell play here in Toronto, and I can say that while he
dropped a few nice tracks and his mixing was tight, I found it rather
boring. I was actually pretty disapointed. His set really lacked
energy and direction, IMHO. Though I'm interested in hearing his set
at FUSE to see how it compares.

And Zombie Nation is a huge rave/club anthem in Europe. While it's
not strictly in the trance vein, it has that very catchy synth line
and euro-disco feel, so I can see why it's so big over there (and
barely known here in North America). Dave Clarke's justifcation in
Jockey Slut for why he remixed it is a good laugh. For someone with
such good taste in electro, he's a real cheeseball. Not that he ever
plays electro when he DJs live...

Cyclone Wehner sez:

They have had a few anomalies of late - eg Chance The Sunkids garage
diamonds. There's a big article on Zomie Nation in Jockey Slut (Oct) with
their millionth (or sumthin') Dave Clarke article. For a man with such a
profound distaste for journalists/the media he does a lot. Everyone (I know
with taste) is raving about the new DJ Hell Fuse mix-CD. He is among my
 favourite DJs. Check it out.

I thought Central station only licenced hi-nrg rave/house hits?? What the
 hell is going on?

It was probably the crowd - what were they like? I rate him very highly. Was
he playing more straight-up techno or the gigolo stylee weird electro/disco
stuff? The latter is where his heart is at I think now.

It was a cheesy club with lots of people coming up just as I was
getting bored. Most of the people didn't have a clue who Hell was...

His set was predominantly straight-up techno, though he started with
some good electro and dropped one really bassy, f*cked-up techno track
in the middle of his set that I enjoyed. No weird electro/disco like
I was expecting.

Towards the end of his set, he just faded out the track he was playing
and put on a jazzy, vocal-house track. Then he proceeded to mix right
back into the bland techno again. Very strange.

This IS a hi-nrg/rave/house hit. Its weird, but here in Holland its been on all
the
poppy trance compilations and all the mullets were playing it on their
scooterbikes during the summer.
The same thing is going to happen with Jaguar during this winter.
This is going to happen with a lot more music we feel is ours.

Is this wrong?

No!
Cause we can now all buy big mansions and start collecting cars. Just as I have
bought 'the Sagatarius', a 1957 ex
dutch airforce Sabre jet fighter today to put in my garden. All with a pay
cheque from my label. I'll have pictures online soon!

peace.

That's funny as I know Mr Hell hates trance!! Like Jaguar I can see how it
could be, er, appropriated! The Miss Kittin mix is definitely NOT trance.
It's real cool, has an 80s feel and probably is most true to the Gigolo
style.

Central Station has ventured out of late - as I say the Sunkids records are
very nice, and the kind of thing you may hear in a Chicago house set. Chance
is a garage singer who sounds so like Aretha it's frightening. She sings on
the Chicago Tribune ads for all those in the Windy City.
