Am I totally confused? It's a bit tenuous in that I don't think they ever worked together directly, but there's all sorts of connections. -The Orb had tons of collaborators on their early works (maybe still do today) including Thomas Fehlmann, Sun Electric, Jimi Cauty of the KLF, Miquette Giraudy Steve Hillage of System 7 fame, Youth (of Killing Joke I believe) and Jah Wobble. Thomas Fehlmann and Sun Electric were by far the most presistent and long-lasting collaborators from what I've noticed. -Thomas Fehlmann did Schizophrenia and 3MB with Moritz Von Oswald. He also pitched in on some of Sun Electric's work. -Sun Electric remixed Illuminism, the 3MB track that featured Eddie Flashin' Fowlkes. -The Orb remixed Maurizio's first track, Ploy. It's called the Battersea Was An Island of Mud Mix if memory serves. So basically, you have Fehlmann and Sun Electric in The Orb's pants, and the same three fellas all up on Moritz' sh*t, and then you get some remix action from The Orb. I think there were some other connections too, but The Orb was much closer to Detroit (or at least Berlin) than you might think at a glance. The real question I think is why Thomas Fehlmann doesn't get recognition for bringing together so many disparate sounds. RE: [313] Techno songs so good they make you cry/Wadodem
Actually, found out a bit more about it since I posted this AM ... The Orb have a connection with this 'Men From Wadodem' track: I read a long time ago that Alex Patterson (is that right? I'm no Orb afficionado) tried to license it but that there were contractual probs with a publisher or label or something - implying that this was a relatively early work for von Oswold, as he's been self-determining publishing/release wise for most of the last decade. Then today, I check out the Orb discog at http://www.migoto.com/orb/albums.html and find this: Auntie Aubrey's Excursions Beyond The Call Of Duty (July 1996) (cat: DVNT12CD) - apparently an Orb remix project which lists - Time Unlimited - Men From Wadodem (Orb Remix) as on disc 2, track 7. Not the original but might be worth checking ... this is NOT techno by any meansbut an interesting anecdote. i just got a dvd player with mp3 capacity, and was playing a PACKED disc with mostly house, techno, hiphop, and a little electro. i like enya's only time and was playing it. all of a sudden my oldest son (4) started crying unexpectedly, saying he missed his grandparents. Now he USUALLY says this when he's being punished, but we hadn't laid a hand on him or anything. so when i asked him what did it, he said it was the song. it just made him sad peace lks - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Fehlmann and Oswald are connected from *way* back in Palais Schaumberg days; they've also shared production chores here and there. And, of course, Fehlmann is a studio fellow Orbian - hence the connection. I think Paterson has only one t. :-) jeff - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[313] Techno songs so good they make you cry....
Hey, I thought this may be a good post. I was just listening to this old ass Dan Curtin track out of sight and mind. well, that last 2 minutes or so of it is one of the most beautiful segments of techno I have ever heard...brings tears to my eyes sometimes...pure bliss. There are others that do it to me but I can not think of them right now. What songs do this to you? - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
