(313) New Drexciya album out!

2003-05-08 Thread Arne Weinberg
Hello folks!

Just bought the new Drexciya album today. Another alias for that album
Abstract thought - Hypothetical situations / Kombination Research Records.
So does anybody know if those tracks on that album are done with James Stinson
or if that's a solo project by the other half of Drexciya?

It's a superb album in my opinion, even though there are only 6 tracks on it
but I really like it and can recommend it!

Cheers, Arne

A Drexciya album on the label of the Advent?
Surprise of the day, if you ask me!

Yes, it took a while for me to realise that it's Drexciya. Otherwise I would
not checked that one out because I don't like The Advent. :-)

They're pushing the boundaries all the time.

I think there is a strange phenomenon developing, with the acceleration
of technology and culture... it seems people are no longer content to
let artists develop and refine an original sound... instead, after two
or three years, people get upset if artists don't go somewhere new.
Traditionally, the time frame for developing as an artist was a
lifetime. Now if someone does the same thing for ten years they are
considered boring! I think it is unfair to expect artists and genres to
develop at such a quick rate. And, if you haven't figured it out, I
don't think techno is dying at all. It's just a little too much to
expect that the boundaries will ALWAYS be getting pushed to some extreme
year after year. Sometimes periods where art matures are good too, and
may in the end produce some of the most refined and substantial works.
Just my opinion...

Look at Jazz for example. There are many artists in this artful music that need

Yup, i agree in the end it is just wether you like a piece of music
or not, if it is innovating that is just a nice extra. Why do you
like techno, because its innovative or because you 'just happend to

[313] new Drexciya LP!

2002-06-20 Thread Tom Robbins/Magic Feet
The Drexciyan onslaught continues: hot on the heels of the recent Tresor LP
is a new one for Clone. Titled 'Grava 4', it has a bonkers space theme this
time and 9 tracks. No idea about when it's out or formats (mine's a CD) but
I will post a reaction once I've got to grips with it. www.clone.nl would
probably be the place to look for more details in the meantime. There's also
a 12, 'Drexcyen R.E.S.T. Principle', too.

I only heard the 12 so far but it is really a good one. I think the album will

Re: [313] new Drexciya LP!

2002-06-20 Thread gord

jt,

The 12 is definitely more pounding than a lot of recent Drexciyan
releases. That said, it's still a bit on the experimental tip. Two of
the tracks are pounding techno grooves: one with a twisted sort of
Detroit feel (offkey synth stabs) and the other with harsh spacy sounds
layered in. The third has more of an electrobass feel, but still
retains that Drexciyan deepness (probably my favorite of the 3 tracks).

Nothing really earcatching with any of the tracks, but that's pretty
much Drexciya's style of late (as you say, different and less direct).
I passed on the last Tresor release as well but feel that this one is a
bit better (although definitely not Drex's best work).

Extremely limited taster for the up coming full length, Grava4 from Detroit's
legendary electro aquanauts. If you need more reasons than that, well you
don't deserve to be stocking it. I'm serious.

12 - Digital Tsunami - 3 tracks - came out a month or so ago i think.
lp - Harnessed the Storm - 10 tracks on the cd, 7 on the 2x12 - out this
week or next week i think.

i've got a copy of the 12 and the vinyl version of the lp. the tracks are
decent, well produced, if kinda lacking the edge of the older material imho.

Re: [313] New drexciya // Info Needed

2002-02-01 Thread Nocturnals
Hi all,

New Drexciya album Harnessed the Storm LP out on Tresor, I believe released
this past Tuesday January 29th. Definitely grab yourself a copy...and then,
there is the 12 Rob mentioned, which is also on Tresor.

And while where on the Drexciyan tip, you could also check out The Other
People Place LP Lifestyles of the Laptop Cafe on Warp and Transllusion The
Opening of the Cerebral Gate on Supremat. All stuff rumored to be Drexciya,
or at least have some of the members involved.

Hope this helps.

Musically,
Kered

actually it's centali :P,
and i wouldn't compare it so much to drexciya, it reminds me more of basic
channel inspired electro, sweeping soulful chords, very beautiful..but there
is a dash of ur/drexciya aquatics thrown in the pot [EMAIL PROTECTED]
spesimen's stuff is amazing..seek out his earlier infocalypse releases if
you can -- http://members.aol.com/infcalypse

[313] New Drexciya!

2001-09-18 Thread Hans Veneman
According to De:Bug (http://www.de-bug.de/) there's some new Drexciya releases
on Tresor coming up soon. First a 4-track EP called Digital Tsunami followed
by the album Harnessed the Storm.

On Supremat (Cristian Vogel's label) an EP by Transllusion called Mind Over
Positive Negative Dimensional Matter will be released soon, which was made
by one half of Drexciya. Transllusion will also release an album.

The Othe People Place album on Warp is already out of course...

http://www.de-bug.de/news/431.html

Babelfish translation:

As if it would have been ever past. Drexciya, or people from which one believes
it are to Drexciya, what so far usually the same was, or halves of Drexciya
inundate this autumn the disk loading. Only official release of Drexciya might
be new safe deposit the album, which the 12 digitally Tsunami with four
new TRACKS precedes (Tresor/182). The album becomes Harnessed the Storm is
called and appears as CD and double 12 (Tresor/181).

With The OTHER People Place on Warp, which is as the first in the disk loading
is actually all united that it concerns a Drexciya project, although around a
surprisingly smoothes, and one knows the doubles 12 Lifestyles OF The
laptop cafe itself, if one still doubts with Warpmart listens to.

When the latter appears now also still on Supremat, to a label of Cristian bird
in Cooperation with safe deposit record a EP and an album of one, like the
info. says, half of Drexciya under the name Transllusion. The EP is called in
typical Drexciya type Mind Over positives negatives dimensional of matte ,
is more technoider than one it from Drexciya themselves used to be might, and
the album follows in the next month.
