[AI] Problem in downloading
Folks: One of the things I'd like to do -notwithstanding the early morning cold weather- is to race against the 8 o'clock download time for BSNL home PC account, getting books/music I love to read/listen. I download stuff mostly from Sendspace. However, for the past few days, I have problems in downloading files. When I press the download link I hear a kind of a sound but the file never starts to download. This happened in both my desktop and laptop. Also, when I tried re-tweeting news stories using the re tweet button on websites such as London Daily telegraph, I hear more or less the similar sound to the one I hear while pressing the download link and the re tweet never happens. This has left me wondering what could have been wrong. Can anyone guess the problem? If so, pl let me know. Which browser are you using? If internet explorer, I think it has something to do with popup blocking. Can you think of some setting you changed in your internet browser? Dear list members: I'm surprised the read Osmania's notification for Ph.d with out mentioning the term or word Handicapped in it. No where it's mentioned about handicapped, no where in reservation, fee payment, relaxation and so on. Indeed it's one of the best universities for Visually impaired which never troubles us, it implements all the rules and regulations with out troubling, I never experienced any issues even with scribe which is the most common problem for us. No Message. The surprising thing is since I download with FDM I normally get the FDM window where the per cent of download is mentioned. Now though that doesn't come and also when I open FDM I don't see the download status, a clear indication that the download is not happening. I don't remember to have changed any settings. Have you tried manually starting the download in FDM (shift+s)? Did you have a look at the settings in the download manager for any changes that might have occurred without your knowledge? Did you try using the inbuilt download manager in the browser to download the file? In point no. 4, the NSDL has asked that the DP should capture the clients' signature(s) as given in the Account Opening Form in the DPM system. Further, a remark should be put in the DPM system (under the authorised signatory details in 'signatories' screen) that the Client is Visually Challenged. Further, if the Client is illiterate, then DP should put in the remark as Visually Challenged and Thumb Impression. Would like to know what is the procedure for those VIPs who are literate but do not sign and use their thumb impression instead. I could have done that if the file I am trying to download is found in the FDM list. This normally happens when you enable download using FDM. In this case, this has not happened. I have not checked the settings. Let me do that. Hi Govind, When I registered myself for PhD in Sri Venkateswara University, there was no reservation for any kind of handicap. I remember one of our friends reporting the same from Tamil Nadu sometime ago. It is very unfortunate that universities are not allowing any reservation for handicap in PhD notifications. Despite so many advancements in technology, personally, I still feel teaching is the best job for visually impaired persons. I worked as a lecturer for five years, and now I'm working in a bank. Despite significant hike in my earnings, the job satisfaction I used to get in the teaching field is lot more than what it is now. That's why I haven't discontinued my research and I'm still hopeful that I'll go back to teaching some day. So, to get good jobs in teaching field, PhD is a compulsory requisite. Hence there should be reservation for handicapped persons in PhD also. If not, there should be some fight against this. -- G. One of the solutions is, of course, if you don't have a problem, using the system restore; you can restore your system to a date on which you think it was working fine, although, admittedly, it is not an ideal sollution, rather a work around... I am using d mat account with thumb impression. What I did, The bank employee take my thumb impressions infront of the bank manager and then the manager attested the same. So there is no problem for this in my case. My account is in CDSL. But as per my openian, the same procedure can be followed in case of nsdl. Hi All, Finally my Jaws problem got solved. Thanks to Mahesh bhaiya for that. Now, I have another question which needs to be solved before 29th of this month. If I have to know that weather my hardware is compateble with windows 7 64 bit or not, then how will I do that? Specifically I wish to know that weather canon's lida 25 scanner is compateble with 64 bit? And if yes, then drivers please? I hope my model is right just to give an idea I am talking about the scanner which costed 2800 or something nearer in 2008 I guess. Hai amar, I am writing after a long time. On the Microsoft's website, There is a software application named windows7 upgrade adviser. Just download and install the application. Follow the instructions, and it will scan your entire computer and will give you a complete report regarding your specific hardware and software compatibility with windows7 It also suggests on what needs to be done to make the hardware or software compatible with win7. Specifically I wish to know that weather canon's lida 25 scanner is compateble with 64 bit? And if yes, then drivers please? I hope my model is right just to give an idea I am talking about the scanner which costed 2800 or something nearer in 2008 I guess.
