Re: [AI] Relaxation of scribe norms for IBPS exam

2011-11-25 Thread Eyeway Helpdesk
Hi,
One can even call the helpline numbers on the exam days, which would be a
sunday. These are the board numbers of IBPS, so ask to connect you to the
Project co-ordinator of the CWE.

A few minutes ago I called the numbers to confirm this, and could speak to one
of them who was in touch with Pallavi of NAB India. I was told that all the
project co-ordinators have been apprised of this change, so anyone of them
would be able to help. Also they have informed all the exam centres, and they
believe there should not be a problem.

thanks,

[AI] Interesting Read - Indian Girls Become the Guinea Pigs for Western Cos

2011-11-25 Thread Mujtaba Merchant
Hello Members,

Although this article is not related to the group or anything to do with
blindness or it's support, I felt it worth sharing with you all to build
awareness of what is happening with our country and giant pharma companies in
Europe and around the world.

Indian Girls Become the Guinea Pigs for Western Companies

Bangalore: In what could be seen as a new form of colonialism, India becomes
the new testing ground for drugs for American, British and European
pharmaceutical
firms and according to a report on the 'Independent', between 2007 and 2010, at
least 1,730 people died in India while, or after, participating in such
trials.

In an apparent show of the Western mode of exploitation, these multinational
companies have been making the most of India's huge population and loose
regulations
in this regard over the last five years by which they manage to drastically cut
short their expenses on research for these lucrative products which are
to be sold in the West.

Ever since the restrictions on drug trials were relaxed in India, the industry
has grown to a point where more than 150,000 people are involved in at least
1,600 clinical trials for the Western firms like Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Merck.
Although no official data is available on the size of this exploitative
industry, it is estimated to be worth as much as 189 million pounds. While the
many on whom the trials were done, may have been only eligible for the studies
as they were ill, the following complications, even resulting in death, are
often not properly investigated.

While it is said that the crucial trials were carried out following appropriate
guidelines, the report says the lack of oversight have resulted in a situation
where poor and often illiterate individuals, picked from the tribal areas or
city slums are used for the critical trials without obtaining proper informed
consent which means they have apparently agreed to the trials without fully
understanding what they are signing up for. At the shadow of this inhuman
practice
of drug trials on humans, a new industry has been spawned making significant
profits by providing participants for these studies.

An investigation by 'The Independent' in the Indian states of Madhya Pradesh,
Andhra Pradesh, as well as in Delhi and in London shows that hundreds of
Indian tribal girls were recruited without proper parental consent for an
immunization study sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,
shockingly
just on the node of the government hostel's warden. Several girls have
reportedly killed and the controversial study was stopped by the federal
authorities.
The investigation also found the use by drug companies of survivors of the
Bhopal tragedy, world's worst poisonous gas disaster, as 'guinea pigs' in at
least 11 trials without proper informed consent. In another shocking finding,
many cases of drug trials were reported at a government hospital in Indore
of which 81 cases of adverse effects were reported.

India is just one of those many developing countries being exploited for its
large, ignorant and illiterate tribals by the Western pharmaceutical giants
who spent over 40 billion pounds last year on research and development. It's
said that over 120,000 trials are taking place in 178 countries and the
companies
can reportedly reduce up to 60 percent of their spending on research through
outsourcing the works to these third world countries. The article also reveals
that a quarter of all clinical data submitted to European drug regulators for
approval are obtained from trials in low- and middle-income countries.

[AI] NPRD Delegation Meets Shri Mukul Wasnik

2011-11-25 Thread National Platform For The Rights of the Disabled (NPRD)
November 25, 2011

* *

*Press Release*

* *

The National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled (NPRD) is conducting a
nation-wide signature campaign on some specific issues before the disabled.
In this connection programmes were organized in several state headquarters
and district centres today.

In Delhi a NPRD delegation met the Union Minister for Social Justice &
Empowerment, Shri Mukul Wasnik and submitted a memorandum today. Former
Member of Parliament, Brinda Karat accompanied the delegation.

The Minister gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation that
appropriate measures will be taken soon.

*Muralidharan*

*Assistant Convenor*

*NPRD*

The full text of the memorandum is given below.

* *

*Shri Mukul Wasnik*

*Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment*

*Government of India*

*Dear Shri Wasnikji,*

* *

1.*BPL Census: *We are shocked at the non-inclusion of disabled persons
in the automatic inclusion category for the 2011 BPL census being conducted
by the Ministry for Rural Development. Even more shocking is the
non-intervention of the MSJ&E in the matter, despite the Supreme Court
order of May 2, 2003 clearly laying down that the disabled have to be
listed in the automatic inclusion category for Antodaya benefits. We
therefore demand that all disabled persons should be provided with BPL
cards.

2.*Disability Allowance: *Currently, under the Indira Gandhi National
Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) the Central Government provides an
assistance of Rs. 200/- per month per beneficiary.

The amount being given to the beneficiaries differs from state to state. In
some states it is as low as Rs. 200/- whereas in some it is Rs. 1200/-

In the light of ever increasing cost of living, the central allocation per
beneficiary has to be raised to Rs. 500/- and the states asked to provide a
matching amount so that each beneficiary receives at least Rs. 1000/- per
month.

The criteria/norms/rules for receiving this allowance also vary from state
to state. They also have to be made uniform.

3.*Universally Valid Identity Card: *There should be one universally
valid identity card. This card should be issued by the village/taluka
offices and delivered at the residence of the disabled within seven days of
the receipt of an application. Multiplicity of cards/certificates hinders
the disabled from seeking benefits.

*4.**Reservations -- Filling of Backlogs: *There is no correct data
available on the backlog in vacancies for the disabled in various
departments. Special drives have to be launched by all departments to clear
the backlogs. **

* *

Jobs for persons with different disabilities should be identified, reviewed
and updated. These have to be notified and filled by central and state
government departments and PSU’s within a stipulated time frame. The
Ministry should create a monitoring mechanism for this purpose.

We hope you will give due consideration to these demands and take
appropriate steps to implement them.

Yours sincerely

[AI] Blind workers protest against new wage structure

2011-11-25 Thread Vikas Kapoor
Blind workers protest against new wage structure
Jiby Kattakayam
Joining hands: Visually challenged workers of the National Federation of the
Blind holding a protest march in Delhi against the Federation's decision to
implement a new wage structure. Undaunted by the darkness that they struggle
with on a daily basis, several dozen visually challenged workers of a
disposable plate manufacturing unit run by the National Federation of the Blind
at Mundka have decided not to cave in to the management's decision to place
them on a production-linked incentive-based wage structure instead of a fixed
pay structure.

On Thursday, they held each other's hands -- calloused hands that expertly
shape disposable thaali, dona, and chow mein plates overcoming their disability
and help earn their livelihoods -- and walked to the Pushp Vihar office of the
Federation in protest against the NGO which represents their community.
(Reported in The Hindu on Friday).

The workers, numbering over 100, who had massed under the banner of Blind
Workers' Union, alleged that they were subjected to exploitation and poor
working conditions and according to the new terms that the management imposed
on them through an office order on November 9, wanted their productivity to
match those of workers with normal eyesight.

However, the NFB said that it was incurring a loss running the production units
due to the economic downturn and was running short of funds. Hence, they felt
the need to place the workers on a production-based wage structure. NFB
office-bearers said the NGO has received no aid from the Government since 2002
on the ground that they were flush with funds, but now the situation had
changed. The workers claimed that according to the new structure whereby they
would be paid Rs.22 per 1,000 dona plates, Rs.49 for 1,000 thaali plates and
Rs.27 per 1,000 chow mein plates, the maximum they would earn a month was
nearly Rs.2,600 despite increasing their productivity almost 1.5 times and
working on holidays too, compared to around Rs.3,300 per month they made
according to the fixed pay structure.

The union also demanded that the workers be paid minimum wages prevalent in
Delhi for wage labourers. [The minimum wages in Delhi for unskilled workers is
Rs.6,422 per month, for semi-skilled workers is Rs.7,098 per month, and for
skilled workers it is Rs.7,410.]

The workers, speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation,
pointed to the air-conditioned office of the NFB and said: "If they don't have
funds, why can't they turn off those ACs. We work under such pathetic
conditions. They have not even installed a ceiling fan for us. In summer it
gets so hot. Look at our fingers. Sometimes our hands get caught in the
machines and cause bruises and they expect us to work at the rate of workers
with normal eyesight."

NFB North Zone vice-president Inder Singh, a visually challenged person
himself, said the choice for the NGO was between shutting down the production
unit completely and continuing to run it under the new scheme to cut down on
losses. NFB North Zone secretary Chandraveer said unions were politicising the
issue and leading the workers to their downfall. He also alleged that the
protesting workers were not working efficiently earlier due to the fixed pay
structure.

Mr. Singh remarked that the unions were not backing the NFB's attempts to get
reservation for visually challenged persons in government jobs and fighting
discrimination that such persons faced in workplaces. He said the NFB had also
stopped its cultural and sports programmes as part of cost-cutting, and was now
focusing on educational loans, as this was found to be very beneficial.

The Blind Workers' Union also claimed the support of workers at the Faridabad
production unit of the NFB. The union alleged that the Federation's "motto of
'letting the blind lead the blind' was being replaced by 'let the blind exploit
their poorer blind brethren'".

Re: [AI] audio device not working

2011-11-25 Thread Umesha S E
Dear Bhavesh,
I am not interested in automatic driver downloads and updates and
following are the reasons.
When we install windows afresh, there won’t be any applications on it.
It is true for antivirus and other protection tools also. In that
condition is not a good idea according to me to go online as it is
flooded with malware and other harmful things. It is possible that
some viruses infect the system without our knowledge and kill our data
and we may only know it after the disaster has occurred.
Another reason, web is a virtual world. The information available in
it today may not be available tomorrow. It may be removed or changed
to a location unknown to us. Some times the updates may cause new
problems in some systems. In such cases, the older ones are better.
For example, my HP scanner 2400 has updated driver on the web. But my
system freezes if I install it. So I use the old one in my
installation CD. If I loose that CD, I will be in trouble. so if other
things remain the same in the system, there is no need for driver
update. Sorry if you feel mor of economics terminology. Only if we
make major upgrade to operating system or the other things, we need
it. Some times even if every thing is write, the web site may not be
available to us at the urgent time of reformatting due to various
reasons. So I prefer to have the installers for all my drivers and
applications handy so that they may be available for any re-format if
the system crashes or gets corrupted.
And also as Vikas writely said, the laptop companies should host the
proper drivers on their site. Other wise, they try to make wrong
comments on the drivers we download as they are doing now with the
operating system installed by us. These companies try to escape from
their responcibility by blaming something done by the consumer. We
should be aware about it.
Friends I have pasted below the text of mail I have sent to lenovo
consumer support team this morning. Suggestions, comments and
feedbacks are welcomed.

“This is with respect to earlier complaint number: 4270367879
System serial number: WB 02710632

Dear Anil kumar and others,
First of all, who ever has written those words in the image, tell them
to learn good English. They are not at all sentences but group of
stray words causing ambiguous meaning and different interpretations.
You have not provided windows 7 or any functional operating system
installed on the system. Hence, you do not possess any power to insist
upon us to install windows 7. Though I have already explained you the
reasons for not choosing windows 7 in my previous message, you have
been repeatedly telling me to go for windows 7. What is the issue
found with OS that has been mentioned in that image? If windows 7 is
the must, why should I have bought lenovo product only. I am
repeatedly telling that only due to the reason that these products are
compatible, I have chosen lenovo and not for any other reason. Now it
is being proved that you are poorer in post purchase service also. It
is not driver incompatibility but driver malfunctioning and so change
those words accordingly. One more thing, who has written the
description of the problem I don’t know but it is wrong. It is not
cracking sound, it is audio distortion and drop out to name it
correctly. Every bit of sound comes with tiny delays of fractions of
seconds and lead to interruptions in audio stream. This occurs along
with a retarded system performance in all respects and resultant
slowdown.
One important thing, recently I have found out the exact source of the
problem. The computer is facing the problem known as DPC (Deferred
Procedure Calls) latency. To know more about DPC latency, visit the
following page.
http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml
I don’t think that level 2 team will be able to deal with this highly
technical issue. So please pass this on to the technical experts. I
checked the amount of latency occurring in the machine using DPC
latency checker. For ideal performance, it should be less than 500
micro seconds. But my laptop is showing the latency in the range from
3000 to 13000 micro seconds. When I face the sound interruption
problem, it goes up to even 60 and 70 µs. it is the atheros
wireless network device that is causing this latency and real culprit
behind my audio problem. If I disable this wifi device, the next
moment latency level drops to about 125 micro seconds. Also, if I
disable this device, the system runs smoothly without audio
interruptions for hours. Re-installing the driver many times did not
yielded positive result. I don’t know why lenovo has taken such
unpopular company’s products. This problem is present with many
machines in the series using this device. May be one or the other
reasons they have not contacted you.

Now its time for you to act. So, pass on this message to your
technical experts and developers. First of all, you have to diagnose
whether the problem is due to hardware or driver.
If the problem is wit

[AI] Are they dying with dignity?

2011-11-25 Thread Sathiyaprakash Ramdoss
Dear Access Indians,
Just I was reading this interesting article in The Hindu NEWS paper
and I thought, it would be nice if I share it with you all. Thank
You. Sathiyaprakash.

For James Michael Taylor, an evening bath became a death sentence.
Taylor, who was 41 and a quadriplegic, had little more ability than a
newborn baby to lift his head. Bathing him required the constant
attention of a staff member at the group home for the developmentally
disabled where he lived, near Schenectady, New York.

One summer night in 2005, a worker lowered Taylor into the tub, turned
on the water and left the room. Over the next 15 minutes, the water
slowly rose over his head. He drowned before anyone returned.

Joan Taylor, his mother, remembers the words her husband said as dirt
was shovelled on to their son's grave. “This is the last time they're
going to dump on you,” he told his dead son.

James Taylor's death was no aberration. In New York, it is unusually
common for developmentally disabled people in state care to die for
reasons other than natural causes. One in six of all deaths in state
and privately run homes, or more than 1,200 in the past decade, have
been attributed to either unnatural or unknown causes, according to
data obtained by The New York Times that has never been released. The
figure is more like one in 25 in Connecticut and Massachusetts, which
are among the few states that release such data.

What's more, New York has made little effort to track or thoroughly
investigate the deaths to look for troubling trends, resulting in the
same kinds of errors and preventable deaths, over and over. The state
does not even collect statistics on specific causes of death, leaving
many designated as “unknown,” sometimes even after a medical examiner
has made a ruling.

The Times undertook its own analysis of death records and found
disturbing patterns: some residents who were not supposed to be left
alone with food choked in bathrooms and kitchens. Others who needed
help on stairs tumbled alone to their deaths. Still others ran away
again and again until they were found dead.

Taylor was hardly the only resident to drown in a bathtub. Another
developmentally disabled man at a house run by the same non-profit
organisation drowned in a tub four months earlier. The earlier
drowning took place at a group home operated by a local chapter of the
New York State ARC, the nation's largest non-profit organisation
serving the developmentally disabled. ARC officials in Schenectady
declined to comment.

Through a Freedom of Information request to the State Commission on
Quality of Care and Advocacy for Persons With Disabilities, The Times
obtained data for all 7,118 cases of developmentally disabled people
those with conditions like cerebral palsy, autism and Down syndrome
who died while in state care over the past decade.

The data from the agency, which is responsible for overseeing
treatment for the developmentally disabled, included only the broad
“manner” in which people died by homicide or suicide, accidents or
natural causes. By far the biggest category, other than natural
causes, was “unknown,” accounting for 10 per cent of all deaths in the
system.

The records suggested that problems in care may be contributing to
those unexplained deaths. The average age of those who died of unknown
causes was 40, while the average age of residents dying of natural
causes was 54.

The Times reviewed the case files of all the deaths not resulting from
natural causes that the commission investigated over the past decade
and found there had been concerns about the quality of care in nearly
half of the 222 cases.

The records also showed that problems leading to deaths rarely
resulted in systemwide steps, like alerts to all operators of homes,
to prevent mistakes from recurring. Responses were typically limited
to the group home where a resident died.

At homes operated by non-profit organisations, low-level employees
were often fired or disciplined, but repercussions for executives were
rare. At state-run homes, it is also difficult to take action against
caregivers, who are represented by unions that contest disciplinary
measures.

New York relies heavily on the operators of the homes to investigate
and determine how a person in their care died and, in a vast majority
of cases, accepts that determination. And the state has no uniform
training for the nearly 100,000 workers at thousands of state and
privately run homes and institutions.

The value of analysing death records for problems in care that could
be prevented through alerts or training has been well established, and
is encouraged by the federal Government Accountability Office.
Officials in Connecticut, for example, noticed four choking deaths in
2006, the first year the state published such data. They developed a
statewide programme two days of initial training and a refresher
course every two years thereafter. The state has had just one choking
death since 2007. New York

Hi Vamshi,
have you been using this special leave in SBI (I mean to ask in PSUs
banks as a whole)? If yes, do you need to furnish any additional

Re: [AI] Relaxation of scribe norms for IBPS exam

2011-11-25 Thread Prashant Naik
Dear Friends,

We have such a short time in this IBPS CWE case.

Well, I, Pranay Gaodia from Eyeway had a con call with Pallavi Kadam,
NAB India Employment Department Deputy Director an hour ago. Pallavi
mam has actually done all the running around to get this order from
Delhi. We asked her about the IBPS implementation strategy she told
us that they have verbally assured her. What Pranay and I suggested
her that if she can visit IBPS main office in Mumbai and push them to
implement this order will help us a lot. They can put this order or a
circular on their website or call / SMS and inform all their exam
center in-charges ( mainly those centers where VI are giving exam) to
follow this order or get some IBPS contact person(s) name and numbers
to whom VI candidates can call in case of a scribe problem, etc.

Best thing is to get order / notification / circular from IBPS which
they should put on their website tomorrow itself. Let’s hope IBPS
office is open tomorrow and Pallavi mam will visit them.

Best,
Prashant Naik

That's perfectly fine but the companies should also come up with latest

Sub: Why an Automated Driver Software Program Makes Sense

Hi Umesha,

Did you know your drivers can have a direct impact on the
performance of your computer? When the drivers are
functioning in top condition, the rest of your system will
motor along happily as well. However, when drivers become
outdated, corrupted or go AWOL completely, trouble can
erupt. You may begin to see more error messages or crashes.
You may get distressed over your computer's performance.
Some computer owners get so frustrated; they actually
reinstall their system or replace it completely. Find out
why you don't have to take this route:

=> http://cbpirate.com/s/drive/onlinehomesuccess

All for a silly little driver! Guess what? There are ways to
keep these problems in check by preventing most of them
before they even begin. The secret lies in regular driver
updates that keep those drivers in top condition. Now, you
can perform those updates yourself, if you are willing to
put in the time and research to do so. Or you can purchase
an easy to use driver software program that will perform
driver updates automatically for you.

If an automated driver software program sounds like the
perfect solution for your computer network, check out this

Hope you are referring to the original scanned copy. It's just a

another option is to work with CCPD office and ask them to work immediately
with IBPS office.

Let me know, if this works, so that I can talk to Mr. Dhariyal tomorrow
morning itself to see the possibility.

Hi All,

I have just typed that whole letter below. But please note, you may want to
carry the printout of the file that Harish originally sent. This letter was
signed by Mr. Dhariyal, Dy. Chief Commissioner, CCPD and copy was sent to
CMD of IBPS.

==Extracted content of the letter begins==
From: Office of the Chief Commissioner - Disabilities
To, The NAB

Subject: Guidelines prescribed by IBPS for persons with disabilities scribe

Sir,
Please refer to your dated 21.11.2011 on the above
subject
2. We believe that the condition that the scribe should have lesser marks
than the candidate and not more than 60% marks in his / her academic stream
as prescribed by IBPS for appearing in the common written examination, will
put the candidates with disabilites to serious disadvantage. Therefore no
such conditions should be prescribed. The recommendations of this office to
the Government regarding comprehensive policy for conduct of written
examinations for persons with disabilities include that such restrictions
for the scribe/reader/lab assistant should not be imposed. Instead, proper
invigilation should be ensured so that candidates using scribe do not
indulge in copying.

3. The concerned authorities including IBPS, are expected to facilitate
participation by persons with disabilites on equal basis with others rather
than make it more difficulty prescribing restrictive conditions for the
scribe.

==Extract of the letter end==
Hope this helps.

IBPS have any problems with this recommendation, they should let the CCPD
or public domain know about the same.

Other alternative we do have is, since the recommendation is sent to NAB
India, NAB India should immediately work with IBPS office and get the
notification tomorrow itself. I believe the examination is day after. In
fact, NAB should have thought of doing this soon they have this letter from
CCPD.

Is there anyone from NAB India on the list, is this possible to react
quickly?

Thoughts?

Re: [AI] Relaxation of scribe norms for IBPS exam

2011-11-25 Thread Vamshi. G
Hi,

This is not an announcement by IBPS. Neither I could find anything
relevant on their web site
www.ibps.in

I doubt whether IBPS would accept if candidates take a print out of
this letter. Besides, it does not stipulate any eligibility criteria,
rather it is only a recommendation to simplify the scribe rules.

There is lot of confusion because of this last minute ambiguity. I
advise candidates to follow the rules written on the IBPS site.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: [AI] Relaxation of scribe norms for IBPS exam

2011-11-25 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula

3. The concerned authorities including IBPS, are expected to facilitate
participation by persons with disabilites on equal basis with others rather
than make it more difficulty prescribing restrictive conditions for the
scribe.

==Extract of the letter end==
Hope this helps.

Re: [AI] Relaxation of scribe norms for IBPS exam

2011-11-25 Thread Amit Bhatt

Hi all,

since the texxt is not clear and OCR also didn't work on it, I have
tried to understand the letter by the reading of some of my sighted friends
but they are also unable to read this scanned document sharply as many words
are missing from the given text.

Would be so nice if someone who is aware of this guideline, can explain it
comprehensively for our information.

Re: [AI] audio device not working

2011-11-25 Thread Umesha S E
Hi shona man,
I don’t think that BIOS update can be reverted. Just because of the
fact that you have a restore point for that time, it cannot be
concluded that it can be done. As per my knowledge, system restore
creates a point whenever there is a change to system files. But BIOS
is stored in the rom chip mounted on the motherboard. The BIOS update
program might have made some changes to some system files in addition
to changing BIOS information. The following pages uphold my statement.
http://www.ehow.com/how_7415054_uninstall-bios-update.html
http://forum.notebookreview.com/toshiba/306148-remove-bios-update.html

Any way it seems when you restored your system, it is likely that your
wifi driver might have gone. So please check after installing the wifi
driver whether the problem re-appears or not. Also check using that
latency checker I mentioned in my previous mail. If you get the same
red bars (2000 micro seconds and above), or you get the same sound
distortion problem, it is certain that your machine also has that
latency problem. If that is the case, we shall together complain
against lenovo. Even if you do not use wifi now, it should work
properly as you have paid your hard earned money for that device also.
You may need it at some times in future. Please get back after testing
your machine. Ideapad are the machines designed for multimedia. Hence
they should support streaming media and should be free from latency
problem.
Hello all the list members, I request all of you who are using lenovo
ideapad laptops to make the above test of your machine. If any of you
get the same problem, get back to the list so that we shall together
fight for it.

Dear prateek aggarwal ji,
Please provide your knowledgeable suggestions on what best can we do
next for this problem.

 Dear Salman and others,
Sorry for the delay. Yesterday I was completely involved in testing
process. So could not reply. I could find the source of the problem.
Now we have to work out for the permanent solution. Following is the
result. But I din’t understand your previous message. 2 days ago, you
said that you bought your laptop only 3 days earlier. But in the last
message you said that you restored your machine to November 15th. How
is it possible? Is your system clock not correct?

 To prateek aggarwal,
Yes sir. It is due to Audio latency. I downloaded DPC Latency Checker
 from the following link:
 http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml
When I first ran it on the system, I got all the red bars on the graph
even while there is no sound problem. The latency was varying for
every 2-3 seconds from about 2500 micro seconds to 12500 or 13500
micro seconds. While the sound problem was present, the bars touched
the sealing of the chart. The latency was recorded in the range of
15 to 30 micro seconds. Some times it even went up to 70
micro seconds. Surprisingly, even when I disabled my realtek
soundcard, I got the red bars of same height. Next I suspected network
cards. The moment I disabled my wifi card, it dropped to very low in
the green region (125 micro seconds). If I re-enable the wifi card,
the next second again I got the same red bars. One more thing I like
to tell you, if I enable wifi device and turn on it using the switch
provided on the laptop, it substantially drops but not to green
region. Then I get alternating 2-3 yellow bars (about 1200 micro
seconds) and 1 or 2 red bars (about 6300 micro seconds). The earlier
observations are when wifi is enabled but switch is off.

[AI] How to manage autoreplies and mailing list subscriptions?

2011-11-25 Thread Amar Jain
Dear All,
As we are aware that if a person has turned on auto responder in the email
settings, then the email gets delivered to everyone irrespective of the fact
that whether it is mailing list or individual.
In case of mailing list, sometimes I have seen email getting delivered to
members individually and not hitting the mailing list directly.
In either of the situation, one would not want other members to feel disturbed
by such emails. What solution do you propose except disabling the email
delivery? As just because the person is unable to check the email for some
time, he would not want to be unaware of what has happened in past.
Is there any setting which mailing list managers can do? Or, creating filters
in case of autoreplies possible?
Regards
Amar Jain.

Re: [AI] RBI circular regarding issue of Debit Card to VI persons

2011-11-25 Thread prateek aggarwal
Dear surinder,
As you might be knowing, your ATM card acts as debit card now.
The widely known circular issued on 4th june 2008 instructs banks to
provide all the services to visually challenged without
discrimination, including the facility of ATM cards.
In case you are looking to know about credit cards instead, Punjab
national bank has taken the initiative to provide credit card facility
to blind persons without discrimination sometime back.

Both these circulars with many others are available on my website at
www.prateekagarwal.webs.com
please refer to “important circulars, orders and guidelines” link to
avail the circulars there.

Hope it helps.

Re: [AI] grate news to share with all of u

2011-11-25 Thread RAJ VASWANI

Hello there,

Its good to know that this product worked for you.
Few questions I'd like to know.

From where did you purchased it? from India or from any other country?

Secondly, what is its prize?
Thirdly, do they return the whole amount within the said time or not.
Your reply is awaited.
Thanks and regards,
Raj Vaswani

hi all.
As the subject line says i have a grate news to give u.
All of u mainly the seniour members of this list must have herd about
sonic i glasses by rnib uk.
I have just purchased them and they came to me yesterday and i tested
them on the roads of mumbai.
I know all will say they wont work properly they are not made for indian
roads.

Even i expected it to behave like that but scince rnib has a 30 days
return polacy i thought lets give it a try.
And to my supprise it worked just the way the demos showed vibrateing
at the right time for the right things and it saved me from crashing
into many things like tree branches above head hight sign bords etc
which i used to avoide with sighted help.
I am realy happy with the product
