[AI] Suggestions required for a school student

2012-07-11 Thread Eyeway Helpdesk
Hi all,
Greetings from Eyeway Helpdesk!

We need information for one of our Helpdesk clients who is studying in class
11th. As per school norms, he is asked to choose a subject between Informatics
Practices and Economics as his subject in class 11th. At first, he does not
have much idea about the mentioned subjects, and wants to know which subject
should he opt for and why? And, Which of the two he can do well with his vision
impairment.
Further, he has currently opted for Informatics Practices (IP) where he is
being taught Java, a programming language. To learn the same, he is using a
software called Netbeans which is not compatible with JAWS. Is there any other
option to learn Java?

You may respond on or off the list, or if required we may talk over the phone
as well.

Thanks in anticipation!

Re: [AI] Want a suggestion which mobile to purchase.

2012-07-11 Thread Ajay Minocha
Hi fokes,
I think that most of you are aware of inclusiveplanet. For those who
don't know it is a website which functions as a knowledge shairing
platform for visually impaired people. On this website we have channel
called android access(android world). or something like that. Just go
through the website and look for the channel. . There you will find
the answers to most of your doubts. @Mamta mam! it is true that those
softwares have some buggs but still on an average they are able to
provide you a nice experience. If you want to spend some around 4100
rs more then you can also buy mobile accessibility from code factory.
It fully supports android phones. Talkback is a free screen reader
from google it means it is pre installed in most of the android
phones. You will have to enable it by going to settings of the device.
However some phones have shortcuts as well. Speal is a third party
software like NVDA for windows. It needs to be downloaded from it's
official webpage. And let me tell one thing that every device has a
learning curve in it's innicial days.

regards

Re: [AI] Query for cooking area...

2012-07-11 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Well, Mamta, nicely explained.
But why don't you put the vessel first on the gas and then light the gas?
At least I did it in my rudimentary attempts to make tea, rice etc. in days
gone by.
Now, thankfully, I am relieved of all such chores by my sweet wife, but I do
appreciate that all should learn at least rudimentary cooking skills for a
rainy day...

Well Hi dear Bijal,

Cooking involved a lot of tips and tricks.
I my self cook daily as far as cooking is concern mostly 2 times a day in
the morning that is Tiffin's for office and then at night which is
extensive cooking.

well as far as rice is concern,
you can cook it in the pressure cooker or a electric rice cooker. or in a
normal pot as well.
same with dal mostly first boil in the pressure cooker. then we can cook it
in a pot as well.
as far as vegetable is concern use pots or pans instead.

the method which I use to keep any type of vessel on the gas is that.
first its like this. most of these things will only come out of practice.
however hard I will try to explain to you it will not be as effective as
you practicing it. well so its time and practice. what you can do that.
at first tell mom at I will make one dish per day. start from something
simple.
keep the fear out of your mind that I will get burnt or something will
happen to me.
be confident that I will do it.
keep the ingredient of what ever you want to make ready before hand in front
of you I mean near you as your hand can reach to grab it easily to put it in
the vessel to cook.
as you will not have much time once the gas is on to go and find it so you
have to know the lay out of your kitchen very perfectly.

then before lighting the gas feel it and touch it just when its empty feel
the distance between you and the gas very perfectly.
practice keeping the empty vessel on the off gas many times may be 10 times
or so.
and then now light the gas and keep the vessel in the same way.
Normally I use my right hand to on the gas I mean to turn the knob of the
gas on and the left hand for pressing the button of the lighter.

once its on I just keep the lighter on its place and keep the vessel on the
gas to get hot with my left hand it self.
mean while with the right hand I grab oil and other ingredients and bring
them in front of me and start to put one by one as its turn comes.
that will happen with you once you can find out from your mom that when to
put what and may be she may have some sequences for you.
at first you can also practice like your mom standing with you and giving
you things one by one to put. you only do the putting and cooking.
that will first make you confident in cooking and then you can practice
other things like material finding later.

I can help to teach you and there are so many things to say about cooking
that I just do not understand that what to write and what not to.
but just remember that you have to be safe first. I mean that while cooking
you will always you will have to have a cotton cloth I mean a napkin at
hand for catching the vessel if its moving from its place or you have to
move it any where even a little bit.
do not wait for it to fall or tilt completely.
it can hurt you. I mean the hot oil can spill and you can be hurt by that.
if you at all feel any danger at any time the first thing is just close the
gas from the knob and then touch and feel with the help of the napkin that
what is wrong and what to do to rectify it. may be the vessel may need you
to keep it properly if its shifted by mistake even a little bit.
lets see that how much this will help you.
do you even understand what I have to say?

Hope that I am clear.

if anything then do feel free to write back to me.

Thanks.

our mates.
just for your reference the 2007 shortcut keys :
ctrl+9 Hides the selected rows.
ctrl+0 Hides the selected columns.
ctrl+shift+( Unhides any hidden rows within the selection.
ctrl+shift+) Unhides any hidden columns within the selection.

Re: [AI] Fwd: Timesofindia.com: Body dug up at home for disabled fundedby govt

2012-07-11 Thread Amiyo Biswas
West Bengal is becoming a horror state for all women, the disabled are of
course more vulnerable. I am really surprised at the treatment Pinky
Pramanik, the Doha Asian Games gold winner, received from the police. I
woner how long we have to tolerate all these atrocities on disabled women.

Subject: [AI] Fwd: Timesofindia.com: Body dug up at home for disabled
fundedby govt

Friends,

Exactly two days after we, on behalf of Paschim Banga Rajya Pratibandi
Sammelani met Governor of West Bengal regarding large number of cases of
violence on women with disabilities in past few months, we had to rush to
Hooghly yesterday when we came to know of this news. Though the Governor on
9th very clearly expressed his concern and said that the situation is
grave, we found the attitude of DM's office extremely careless. The
situation, we find is alarming to say the least.
Shampa Sengupta

GURAP (HOOGHLY): The highly decomposed body of a 32-year-old woman was dug
out of a shallow grave in the compound of a state-funded rehabilitation
centre for
the physically and mentally
challenged
in
Hooghly's Khajurdaha area, some 50km from Kolkata. Local MLA Ashima
Patra has
demanded a forensic test to see if she was sexually abused.

Investigators are not ruling out homicide and have arrested the owner of
the rehab centre, Uday Chand. There were injuries all over the body,
including a grievous wound to her head, police said. The victim, identified
as Guriya, died on July 1 but Hooghly police had no clue till a news
channel started showing a report on the mysterious death on Wednesday after
being tipped off by an NGO.

Police said Uday buried Guriya's body without informing the administration.
It was only on July 3 that he handed police a 'death certificate' stating
the speech and hearing impaired woman had died of cardio-respiratory
failure. Despite the two-day gap, police did not verify Uday's statement.
Now, they suspect the certificate to be fake.

Tip from inmate led to discovery of corpse

Guriya was rescued from the streets by Bankura police on May 22 and sent to
the Khajurdaha home. She died on July 1 and Uday allegedly buried the
corpse.

The crime would have been buried but for some inmates of the home. Although
they are all either mentally challenged or speech and hearing impaired, a
few of them — or at least one — managed to get the news out to an NGO run
by a former CPM minister on Wednesday. Within minutes, journalists swarmed
the rehab home. The police were taken unawares by the media frenzy and ran
to the scene only when they saw the live coverage on TV. District
magistrate S Rangarajan and SP Tanmoy Roychowdhury also rushed there.

Police picked up Uday and after sustained interrogation, he broke down and
revealed where he had buried the body. Additional SP Tathagata Basu said:
"The body was exhumed after the SDPO (HQ) Bankura lodged a complaint with
Gurap police station." Police have initiated a case, suo-motu.

"The body has several injury marks, including a severe head wound," said
the SP. As the news spread, villagers started gathering at the home and
demanded that all the officials of the rehab home be arrested. "We are not
ruling out the possibility of a homicidal assault. The probe hinges on the
post-mortem report. The death certificate submitted to the police is not
authentic. We are examining if it was forged," said Basu

Social welfare minister Sabitri Mitra and Dhaniakhali MLA Ashima Patra
promised tough action against the "heinous crime".

Hi Suman,

you are right. It is always preferable to do PG degree in HR from regular

But, what for those people who had already got job and now they want to

Not everyone can quit their job for the sake of regular study.

Hi Friends,
I don't recommend doing HR through a distance mode. Mainly because:
1. No experience gained.
2. Lack of networking opportunities.
3. No internships.
4. Quality of faculty will never equal some of the top HR schools.
5. It is not difficult to get into any of the HR schools i.e. TISS,
SCMHRD, Delhi School of economics.
Greetings to Nuper! She is an excellent example of a successful HR

My daily role involves research, content development, client meetings,

Hi Phen,
E6 is priced around rs 14000/- if you want to spend that much then why
buy symbian? which doesn't have a bright future. then buy android. I
suggested e5 just for it's cost effectiveness. Moreover e6 doesn't
have that much powerful processor as compared to other phones in this
range. samsung and sony have some very good android phones with qwerty
keypad. So go for them. Android is improving very rapidly in terms of
accessibility with it's two free screen readers talkback and speal.

[AI] Fwd: Timesofindia.com: Body dug up at home for disabled funded by govt

2012-07-11 Thread Sruti disAbility Rights Centre

Re: [AI] Doubt in Excel 2003

2012-07-11 Thread mamta
Hi! answerring your question:

First open excel go to format menu and then keep the cursor on the sheet
which you want to hide.

Press alt and o to go the format menu
press H to go to the sheets sub menu,

There you will find options like rename, hide, un hide,

hot key for hiding is H and for unhide is U.

once you press the desired options then your sheet will be hidden or un
hidden immediately.

You can also hide more than one sheet at a time.

Hope you understand.

Do feel free to get back if you need any more help.

Thanks a lot.

I just wanted to ask why are there distant courses for MBA in HR?
If it is not worth doing it then what is the basic use of it?
Like I heard that in IGNOU there classes during the weekends for the
MBA student's.
But to do MBA over there I heard that you need 3 years of work
experience. and I also heard that with out passing their enterance
exam you can't study over there.
So my question is which is the best univercity to study MBA HR ?

[AI] Re HR

2012-07-11 Thread suman . rath
Dear Phen,
Wonderful to see your interest in HR. I fully understand your point but,
in most institutes today, you have a HR related internship. In my case I
worked with 5 organisations on HR assignments which helped me understand
and relate it to the concepts I captured in class. No distance education
will give you that. You need to work with various projects, live
assignments, group assignments and attend guest lecture to get the true
essence of HR.
It is a people driven subject remember? In softer sides of management, we
say the more people you meet the better it is for you. Unless you gather
knowledge from the veterans how do you implement them in organisations?
Hence I believe it is important to do any course i.e. management or HR
from a good institute that gives you enough exposure to learn, understand
and practice your knowledge. You must experience it in real time. One of
my teachers at Tata institute of social sciences was the Vice president HR
at Asian Paints.

It is not as difficult as you think to apply and get in. I wish you all
the success and do get back if you have further queries.

Dear friend,

If you are doing your graduation in a distant mode and if you are
working then after your graduation if you go to do MBA as a distant
cource then wont it be helpful?
Wont there be a work experience there it self?
For example i am working in Eastern condiments pvt ltd.
I am also pursuing my digree in IGNOU and after my graduation if i go
to do my MBA in the distant mode then wont it be applicable?
What do you say about this?
Hope to hear from you soon.

With best regard's,

Phen Varghese
