Subject: [AI] Creating multiselect listboxes in Excel

Hi Excel experts out there,

I want to know if it is possible to create multiselect listboxes in MS Excel
2010. If yes, kindly provide me Jaws commands to accomplish the same.

Please respond ASAP as I need to do this today itself or I shall have to
look at some other alternative and that would take away lot of resources.

An autolist is populated when we type in the From and To destination
edit fields. This list can be accessed by switching to the virtual
cursor and navigating to the end of page. A list item can be selected
by performing a mouse click, pressing ENTER doesn't work.

2013-04-12 Thread bhawani shankar verma
better is to plan your journey searching train on indianrail.gov.in and use
quickbook link to book your tickets on IRCTC after having complete detail of
your journey. but, the image capture is another barrier on the site to book
tickets. sometimes webvisum does not recognise the text and also some net
banking sites prevent firefox to access their payment gateway.

Re: [AI] QUERY REGARDING IRCTC

2013-04-12 Thread mukesh jain
hello,
once you come to the edit box mentioned by you, press enter to type in
your choice. please note that type your station code slowly so that
you get your exact match. however, i did not face this problem so far.
so if you are using firefox or internet explorer, try to locate the
settings for autofill disable mode.

here i guess that you already know your station codes. if you don't
then you may google it around for it.

actually, the plan my travel section doesn't seems to be accessible to
choose the train number and class. so to find my desired train for any
route, i take the help of the site
www.indianrail.gov.in

once i get to know about the train details i want, then i simply go to
quick book section where i need to fill up the source station,
destination, train no., date, class and passenger's details which is
accessible.

although above procedure is lengthy despite you could do everything on
the IRCTC site itself and also this might not be practical solution,
but considering the inaccessibility of plan my travel section, i just
suggested this alternative so as not to hamper your work.

if members have the better solution, can throw more light on this.

[AI] FW: A great courageous move by CCPD with far reaching consequences

2013-04-12 Thread Prashant Ranjan Verma

The office of the present Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities
has taken the big bold move of sending a show cause notice to their own
bosses for not taking action on the recommendations of CCPD office in the
previous years. He is doing what the earlier CCPDs should have done in their
respective tenures.

It will be great if this can force the government to act on the
recommendations for the disability sector.

Notice of Complaint to Show Cause

Case No. 464/1141/13-14 Dated: 11.04.2013

In the matter of:

Suo-Motu

Vs.

Department of Disability Affairs
Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Through Secretary Government of
India Shastri Bhawan,
New Delhi - 110001

 Respondent

Whereas, Section 64.(2) of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal
Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995,
hereinafter referred to as the 'Act', makes it obligatory on the part of the
Central Government to lay before both the Houses of Parliament the Annual
Report of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities alongwith his
recommendations explaining the action taken or proposed to be taken on the
recommendations made therein so far as they relate to the Central Government
and the reasons for non-acceptance, if any, of any such recommendation or
part thereof;

2. And whereas, this Court vide letter No.8-3/CCD/2012 dated 22nd
March, 2012 (copy enclosed) addressed to the Secretary, Ministry of Social
Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India had requested information as to
whether the Annual Reports relating to the period 2007-08, 2008-09 and
2009-10 respectively were duly tabled before both the Houses of Parliament
together with action taken reports as mandated vide Section 64.(2) of the
Act followed by letters of even number dated 20th December, 2012 and 14th
March, 2013;

3. And whereas, despite the aforesaid three letters, no response has
been forthcoming from the Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of
Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India;

4. And whereas, the Annual Report for the year 2010-11 has also been
sent to the government in the meantime;

5. And whereas, the action taken report in respect of the
recommendations of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities as
contained in her/his Annual Reports is reflective of the government's
thinking and initiative regarding the recommendations of the Chief
Commissioner apart from the seriousness and importance with which such
recommendations are taken;

6. Therefore, the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities,
Govt. of India has directed issuance of this show cause notice to the
Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment
to show cause as to why the said Department has not responded to his letter
dated 22nd March, 2012 and the two subsequent letters/reminders and why this
Court should not pass appropriate orders/directions in the matter by
30.04.2013. The said Department is further directed to let this Court know
whether the Annual Reports of the Chief Commissioner together with the
corresponding action taken reports relating to the years 2007-08, 2008-09,
2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively have been tabled before both the Houses of
Parliament as mandated under Section 64.(2) of the Act. Copies of the
action taken reports, if any, for the years 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10 and

Parliament also be enclosed with the reply.

Subject: Disconnecting Nokia C5 from laptop via USB cable

Apologies for asking this question on this list since Didn't get any response
Hi friends,
Hope you all are doing great.
I just wanted to know the right way of disconnecting my mobile phone, Nokia E5
and C5, from my laptop after I have finished using it with Nokia PC suite via
the USB cable.
Do we have to disconnect just as we do with our pen drives i.e safely remove
hardware?
or do we just plug out the USB wire from the laptop?
I ask this because I don't get the option of disconnecting my mobile through
the safely remove hardware dialog box.
I often connect my Nokia C5 and E5 to my laptop via USB cable and hence wanted
to know the right way of disconnecting lest it gives any problems in the future.

Thanks®ards,
Rishi.

[AI] How Young People with Disabilities Conceptualize The Body, Sex and Marriage in Urban India

Dear All
Take out twenty to 25 minutes to read these case studies conducted by
Partially blind woman Researcher Renu Addlakha
Really faciniting and stimulating.

Abstract Historically in India as elsewhere in the world, there has
been a deep-rooted
cultural antipathy to persons with disabilities. They have been
portrayed as medical
anomalies, helpless victims and a lifelong burden for family and
society. While today there
is a general recognition in India of the need to enhance educational
and employment
opportunities for persons with disabilities in order to promote
economic self-reliance and
independent living, their sexual needs, dreams and aspirations are
more or less invisible.
Sexual and reproductive rights are considered irrelevant for persons
with disabilities. Using
qualitative data, this paper discusses notions of sexual identity
among urban Indian youth
through four case studies of college students in Delhi. Gender emerges
as a key analytical
category in perceptions of sexuality among young men and women with
visual and locomotor
disabilities. The paper does not claim to capture the complex reality
of disabled
sexuality in India, but highlights some key issues in a hitherto
largely under-research
domain. But the author’s analysis carries added value, since she
herself has low vision;
thus conferring a reflexive angle to the research.
Keywords Disability Gender Sexuality Identity Visual disability

Gender Subjectivity and Sexual Identity
Instead of giving rights to citizens with disabilities and empowering
them, a culture of
charity and welfare has been systematically promoted in India since
the colonial period.
The disability discourse has primarily focused on issues related to
the medical management,
education and employment of persons with disabilities. This is a
crucial step in the

disability movement, because it has resulted in legislation for
affirmative action and other
policy moves. A landmark judgment, ‘Persons with Disabilities (Equal
Opportunities and
Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act was passed by the
Indian Parliament in
1995
[1].

However, since the focus of discussion and activities both by the state and the
non-government organizations in the disability sector is still
confined to enhancing the
educational and employment opportunities of differently-abled persons,
other critical areas
of concern such as their fertility, sexual behaviour and reproductive
health have not yet
found articulation in the public discourse in this country. Anecdotal
evidence and personal
communication with different stakeholders in the disability sector in
India suggest that the
rights of persons with disabilities to relationships, a family and
children have been completely
side-lined. While theoretically endorsing the need to address
sexuality concerns of
persons with disabilities, interviews with policymakers, special
educators, and rehabilitation
professionals among others reveal that they assign it a secondary
status, arguing that it
can be taken up after basic needs of health, education and employment
have been addressed.
Furthermore, negative stereotyping of persons with disabilities as
either asexual or
sexual perverts find expressions in the media, films and matrimonial
columns validating its
neglect as a priority in their day to day lives. Needless to say, the
situation of women with
disabilities is more fraught as they suffer the double burden of
gender and disability-based
oppression.
Indeed, not only in India but worldwide persons with disabilities
emerge as a sexually
disenfranchised segment of the population
[2].

There is, in fact, a general social rejection
of their sexuality
[3–

6]. Consequently, disabled sexuality is an important area in the
discipline of disability studies, more particularly feminist disability studies
[7–
7–
11]. Even in
the Indian context, preliminary work in this domain has been
undertaken by feminist
researchers in the social sciences
[12–
12–
18].
Unlike India where the rehabilitation discourse has mainly focused on
special education,
very intensive hands on work on disabled sexuality has emerged from
the field of
rehabilitation in the United States. Research in this area has focused
on a number of areas
providing critical insight into the domain of disability, sexuality
and reproduction. For
instance, notions of sexual identity and self-concept in the context
of various types of
disabilities have been examined

"This article analyses prevalence estimates for disability from the
58th round of the National Sample Survey (2002) and Census 2001.
Because of the substantial differences in rates of disability between
these two sources, it looks at the possible sources of these
discrepancies. Part of the differences could be explained by
differences in the definition of disability and disability types.
Besides, both the NSS and the census provide only limited information
about disability. Refinements are needed in each of the data sources
so that they may capture different aspects and implications of
disability.

Re: [AI] Iteration information in excel

2013-04-12 Thread Zujar Shabbir Kanchwala
The Iteration option is useful for performing calculations on a cell
containing circular reference repeatedly. If a cell refers to itself
in a formula then it is said to have a circular reference. For example
, the cell B3 containing the below formula is said to have a circular
reference:

=IF(B3 < 1000, B3 + 50, B3 + 100)

The maximum value 100 in the Options dialog box means that the
calculation "B3 + 50" or "B3 + 100" is performed 100 times every time
the worksheet is calculated. Pressing the F9 function key initiates
calculations on the worksheet. The above formula result would be 9000.
Press F9 and you would see the result in B3 change to 19000.

If you change the value from 100 (default) to 1 then the calculation
would be performed only once. You would see the initial value of the
formula as 50 followed by 100, 150, 200 and so on.

Hope this makes sense!

Mukeshji,

1. What do you mean by H1 and H2 - these are cell references or string values?

2. Does the cell K8 contain date difference?

3. There's no function in Excel called DATEDIF, you can get the difference in
two dates by subtracting them.

It would be better understood if you can give an example of what you want to
achieve.

Dear Friends,
I have created a formula for my database. It is giving partial result. I want
to modify it for better output.

My condition is as follows:

If cell j8= h1 then the formula should minus 0.5 from date difference in cell
k8.
If cell j8= h2 then the formula should minus 0.5 from date difference in cell
k8.
If cell j8= - then the formula should remain unchanged.

My formula is as follows:

=(IF(H8="-",0,IF(I8="-",0,IF(H8="",0,IF(I8="",0,IF(J8="h1",DATEDIF(H8,I8,"d")+1)-0.5)

It’s very urgent to complete my database so please modify it for me today.

Subject: [AI] Using Dolphin SaySo to convert an inaccessible PDF into a
WordDocument

Dear Access Indians,

Check out the following post on the BarrierBreak Blog.

Using Dolphin SaySo to convert an inaccessible
PDF into a Word Document

Overview
There are thousands of PDF files on the internet in forms of books,
manuals,
user guides for electronics, legal documents, catalogs, forms to apply for
services etc , although a bulk of which remain inaccessible to people with
disabilities. In many cases it is seen that a PDF is just an image of a
scanned document which a visually impaired or a print disabled person
cannot
access using a screen reader.

Imagine you receive an official email containing a legal document which
you
are supposed to refer and on downloading the PDF, your screen reader
announces "Graphic" as it is unable to find any text. In these cases you
feel strangled and have to depend on others for help.

In such situations,
Dolphin SaySo can prove a pretty useful tool. Dolphin SaySo
is an easy to use toolbar, offering a collection of features to empower
people with learning disabilities to be able to read and write with
confidence. Dolphin SaySo is well equipped with a powerful OCR (Optical
Character recognition) engine, capable to scan and read from printed
materials and image based files such as PDF, JPEG, PNG etc.

Conversion Process

Just a few simple steps and you can convert any of your PDF files into
Word
documents using Dolphin SaySo!
1. You can open the SaySo Toolbar by pressing 'WINDOWS KEY + Y' and then
select the 'Scan' button.
2. From the drop down menu which opens below the toolbar, select the
option
to scan 'From a file'.
3. After selecting to scan a file, SaySo will open the 'Open file to scan
from' window.
4. From here you can select your PDF file saved on your computer and then
select the 'Open' button.
5. After selecting your file to scan, you can type a name for your scan.
And
hit the 'OK' button.
6. SaySo scans your file, converts and opens it in Microsoft Word and
starts
reading it.
7. You can access your scanned file at any time which is saved to the
'Documents' folder on your computer.

Conclusion

Well! With Dolphin SaySo it is very easy to convert any PDF weather it is
just a scanned copy or an incorrectly tagged file. So with the
30 day trial demo available, see
for yourself how easy it is to convert a PDF into an accessible word
document.

In the next blog post, we will cover saving this file in different
formats,
so that you can use the document in various ways.

it through openbook with pdf extension shows word and jaws read those
words as well. it takes to much time every time opening it through

Subject: [AI] FW: A great courageous move by CCPD with far
reachingconsequences

The office of the present Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities
has taken the big bold move of sending a show cause notice to their own
bosses for not taking action on the recommendations of CCPD office in the
previous years. He is doing what the earlier CCPDs should have done in
their

respective tenures.

It will be great if this can force the government to act on the
recommendations for the disability sector.

Notice of Complaint to Show Cause

Case No. 464/1141/13-14 Dated: 11.04.2013

In the matter of:

Suo-Motu

Vs.

Department of Disability Affairs
Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Through Secretary Government of
India Shastri Bhawan,
New Delhi - 110001

 Respondent

Whereas, Section 64.(2) of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal
Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995,
hereinafter referred to as the 'Act', makes it obligatory on the part of
the

Central Government to lay before both the Houses of Parliament the Annual
Report of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities alongwith
his

recommendations explaining the action taken or proposed to be taken on the
recommendations made therein so far as they relate to the Central
Government

and the reasons for non-acceptance, if any, of any such recommendation or
part thereof;

March, 2013;

3. And whereas, despite the aforesaid three letters, no response has
been forthcoming from the Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of
Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India;

4. And whereas, the Annual Report for the year 2010-11 has also been
sent to the government in the meantime;

5. And whereas, the action taken report in respect of the
recommendations of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities as
contained in her/his Annual Reports is reflective of the government's
thinking and initiative regarding the recommendations of the Chief
Commissioner apart from the seriousness and importance with which such
recommendations are taken;

6. Therefore, the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities,
Govt. of India has directed issuance of this show cause notice to the
Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice and
Empowerment
to show cause as to why the said Department has not responded to his
letter
dated 22nd March, 2012 and the two subsequent letters/reminders and why
this

Court should not pass appropriate orders/directions in the matter by
30.04.2013. The said Department is further directed to let this Court know
whether the Annual Reports of the Chief Commissioner together with the
corresponding action taken reports relating to the years 2007-08, 2008-09,
2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively have been tabled before both the Houses
of

Parliament as mandated under Section 64.(2) of the Act. Copies of the
action taken reports, if any, for the years 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10 and
2010-11 respectively which may have been tabled before both the Houses of
Parliament also be enclosed with the reply.

Subject: A great courageous move by CCPD with far reaching consequences
To: pr_ve...@hotmail.com

The office of the present Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities
has taken the big bold move of sending a show cause notice to their own
bosses for not taking action on the recommendations of CCPD office in the
previous years. He is doing what the earlier CCPDs should have done in their
respective tenures.

It will be great if this can force the government to act on the
recommendations for the disability sector.

Notice of Complaint to Show Cause

Case No. 464/1141/13-14 Dated: 11.04.2013

Suo-Motu

Vs.

Report of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities alongwith his
recommendations explaining the action taken or proposed to be taken on the
recommendations made therein so far as they relate to the Central Government
and the reasons for non-acceptance, if any, of any such recommendation or
part thereof;

March, 2013;

3. And whereas, despite the aforesaid three letters, no response has
been forthcoming from the Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of
Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India;

4. And whereas, the Annual Report for the year 2010-11 has also been
sent to the government in the meantime;

5. And whereas, the action taken report in respect of the
recommendations of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities as
contained in her/his Annual Reports is reflective of the government's
thinking and initiative regarding the recommendations of the Chief
Commissioner apart from the seriousness and importance with which such
recommendations are taken;

6. Therefore, the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities,
Govt. of India has directed issuance of this show cause notice to the
Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment
to show cause as to why the said Department has not responded to his letter
dated 22nd March, 2012 and the two subsequent letters/reminders and why this
Court should not pass appropriate orders/directions in the matter by

action taken reports, if any, for the years 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10 and
2010-11 respectively which may have been tabled before both the Houses of
Parliament also be enclosed with the reply.

2013-04-12 Thread Prashant Ranjan Verma
It is comforting to know that Google doesn't want you to worry about what
happens to your online identity when you leave the virtual world to explore
new horizons.
The company introduced a tool today called the Inactive Account Manager that
lets you tell Google what you want done with your data hosted on its network
after you die, or stop using your account for a long period of time. We can
think of it as an automated will for our assets.
The URL to this tool is https://www.google.com/settings/u/0/account/inactive

[AI] which software you use for study purposes

2013-04-12 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafel
Hi members when i started to use computer with screen reader, i was
introduced to two softwares: jaws and kurzweil. I learned to operate
computer with the help of jaws and learned to scan and read my books
with the help of kurzweil. since then i have been found of kurzweil
for scanning and studying my scanned notes. however recently i hurd
that there are other softwares which may be better then kurzweil and
jaws for reading purposes. just i want to hear from other people who
used other softwares also such as, openbook for reading and fine
reader for scanning.
please share your experience regarding scanning and reading the
scanned material.
the reason for that i like to study through kurzweil is that in
kurzweil i can scan easily, i can keep image enable while scanning as
if some time i require to see the image of the scanned page in case if
text is missing or wrongly recognised, and there is dictionary in
kurzweil which gives easy access to see the meaning of any word. in
kurzweil you can set bookmark, you can keep your file open and turn
off kurzweil, when ever you will open k your previous file will be
opened automatically.

2013-04-12 Thread Patel Bijal
Dear all
currently i am in SBI for the post of assistant. no proper work is
still given but knowledge of banking area is growing gradually.
sometimes i have to communicate with client when my officer is not
beside me. well, when once communication is started with client, i
haven't any problem, but the basic problem is that i am unable to find
that somebody comes to my counter without any sound or other signs. at
that time, some customers just come and simply go because they may
find no any special expression on my face.
how to solve this problem as a totally blind?
anybody's experience like me at working plase?

Thanks,

Re: [AI] 10+ advanced formatting tips for Word users

2013-04-12 Thread Prashant Ranjan Verma
One of the way it can be done is:
Open find and replace dialog box. Press CTRL + H
In the find what edit box type ^b
In the replace with edit box type whatever you wish. Leave it empty to just
remove the section breaks
Now click replace all.

That is all. Now there will be no section breaks in the document.

Re: [AI] Iteration information in excel

2013-04-12 Thread Mukesh

Ok Zujar,
Thank you.
I have asked it for my formula to not change in date based on current date.
But I think it is not good option for me because it will affect all the
excel workbooks.

Column 'c7' contains today formula for current date.
in column 'b' I have inserted a formula from cell 'b8' =c7 respectively till
cell 'b100'
I don't want the date in column 'b' change daily though the date in 'c7'
changes daily. It should remain static.

Please solve my problem.
Thank you.

Subject: Re: [AI] Iteration information in excel

[AI] How to get hassel free personal lone?

2013-04-12 Thread amarnath de
Hi friends, Hope, you all are doing well. Friends, I would like to know
regarding how to get personal lone in market interest without any harassment?
Very often we need very small amount like 5 or 1.0 or 2.0 to meet
our various important requirements. The nationalised banks often demands that,
the borrower should submit a declaration from his/her employer that he should
recover the balance amount of lone if he/she fails to repay it. But, the
employer did not give this declaration in favour of its employee. In case of
private banks like ICICI bank, city bank or HDFC bank, they check various
points like sibil credit score or other points, some of these are unknown to
us. The private banks always give a condition that, "lones are self discretion
of the bank." I had applied for a personal lone last year from ICICI bank. My
salry is deposited in this bank. But for unknown reasons the application has
been rejected. I have tried to know the cause of rejection but I could not been
able to know what is my fault. In recent past, I did not borrow any personal
lone from any bank. This is a problem of concern for the small earning persons
like me. If anyone help me I will be highly benefitted. Sometimes, I experience
that, some banks did not give us lone because of our blindness, but they deny
the fact in writing. I think so because, when I say that, I am a blind person,
then the concerned officer of the bank tries to avoid the conversation. Please,
do something to enable us to get personal lones from the banks to do our
important works. Thousands of blind persons like me will be benefitted from
this action. Regards. Yours sincerely,Amarnath De.

Re: [AI] Victory: Railway Safety

2013-04-12 Thread rambabu adikesavalu
Dear Friends,
I am sorry for sending you this message second time. I am surprised that in my
earlier mail the message that I was forwarding was totally missing.
I know that our list does not accept any attachments; but it was a FWD message
and not an attachment.
Any way, I have copied the full text of the earlier mail and pasted below:

Dear Friends,
I am forwarding you this message with immense joy and sense of pride.
In fact,?one of the Petitioners Mr. Atul Jaiswal was?our student in TISS(M.A.
in Disability Studies and Action 2009-2011 batch).
I am proud that I have been teaching ?the course titled 'Human Rights, Social
Policy and Law' (along with Prof. Vidya Rao) to the students of DSA since 2009.
What Atul has done in this case is something that makes?our course meaningful.
With best wishes,
Dr. A.Rambabu

Create the change you want to see around you.
Dear Rambabu,
Four months ago, Atul and Amol started a petition on
Change.org asking the General Manager, Central Railways to build a foot-over
bridge at Vanghani station (near Mumbai) to
help 350 visually impaired residents cross the railway tracks safely.
After mobilising thousands of people, hundreds of phone calls
and multiple meetings with the Central Railways, they won!
6273 people like you signed their petition, putting pressure
on the Central Railway authorities. The bridge will now help thousands of
people to safely cross the Railway tracks -
reducing accidents and deaths in the area.
Here's how they won:
1) Amol and Atul delivered more than 6000 signatures to the GM
of Central Railways. They, along with the visually impaired community members
of Vanghani, also screened a film they had
made on the issue.
2) Hundreds of petition signers like you called Central
Railways and put pressure on them to build the foot-over bridge.
3) On 18th March 2013, the Chief Engineer and Assistant GM
convened a meeting and took a decision to build the foot-over
bridge at Vanghani in May 2013.
With great enthusiasm, Atul and Amol along with Video
Volunteers will keep a close eye on the construction of this bridge and will
keep you posted here.
Together, 6273 people forced Central Railways to build a foot-over bridge in
Vanghani, and created the change they
wanted to see.
You too can start your own petition and create positive change
in India.
Thanks for being awesome,
Tamseel and the Change.org team

2013-04-12 Thread Sandeep Singh

Hi Mamatha,
It is absolutely possible if you are determined
and work hard to achieve your ambition. There are
quite a few members on the list who are super
efficient in the field of computers and some are
even going for higher studies in the field from
prestigious institutions. So, keep working hard
and remain positive. All the best.
