Yes the reason might be diffrent, even in mumbai some will support you

My experience with Mumbai police is also good as they have given me always a

Sonu,

It all roots back to lack of education and understanding, I can also add
'compassion'.

Most of the general crowd out there will not think twice before judging
and
giving their opinion. At times like these you must follow your instinct
and

conviction.

I agree with Harish ji that by getting to a friend's advice about not
going
home, as parents, elders and relatives most of the time look to diffuse
such

situations. And at that moment it is not possible to recreate and explain
the whole situation to them.

I think what you did was right, and this incident will surely serve them
as

a reminder; if not anything else.

Best part- 'are vaikil sahib aap ka stoppage AAA Gaya'. Highlights that if
you ask for any explanations or want to sort out a matter, you are
advocating [zaroorat se zyada baat kar raha hai types people, seat mil

Dear Sonu
Let me assure you, this is well within the scope of the list. I too tend
to
agree with Shirin that you should not have withdrawn your complaint. At
any

rate, you have demonstrated bravery and spirit for fighting for what you
consider is right.

Regarding the mindset of public supporting the derelict bus staff is
because
such incidents causes delay and folks are tight up with their priorities.
We

can't think for everyone and we should follow our conviction.

You have to take it as a matter of fact that, the family, despite proving

A small advise, whenever possible, you should go to some other house maybe
that of your friend and relative not in your locality in such situation.
You

Dear Sonu
Let me assure you, this is well within the scope of the list. I too tend to
agree with Shirin that you should not have withdrawn your complaint. At any
rate, you have demonstrated bravery and spirit for fighting for what you
consider is right.

Regarding the mindset of public supporting the derelict bus staff is because
such incidents causes delay and folks are tight up with their priorities. We
can't think for everyone and we should follow our conviction.

You have to take it as a matter of fact that, the family, despite proving your
metal, they take you by the disability and not your ability considering what
suits the occasion.

A small advise, whenever possible, you should go to some other house maybe that
of your friend and relative not in your locality in such situation. You can
save yourself from being traced and bullied on a later date.

Rough translation is below - although it's not 100% accurate
"are buss men baitha to liya na. tumhe isiliye koi baithata hi nahi hai" =
"Hey at least he allowed you to board the buss but you're still making too
much of fuss. That's why nobody even allows you to board the buss."

"are Kuch nahi hua seat to mil gain a ab chup-chap baith jao" = "Hey nothing
to rant about man, you've got your seat right? So now shut your mouth and
remain seated."

"are vaikil sahib aap ka stoppage AAA Gaya" = "Hey Mr. Handicap, here comes
your stop (now scoot)"

"are aaj to ye tumhe hathkadi hi pahana kar maanega" = "Hey conductor this
guy means business - he wants to get you arrested today at any cost - watch
out"

"Isiliye to tumhe koi baithata nahi hai. ek tobuss men baitha bhi liya oopar
se tum uski complaint kar rahe ho". "kuch bhi to aisa nahi hua." = "You're
creating an unnecessary trouble for no reason. That's the reason why nobody
wants you to board the buss!"

Hi friends, I am a regularreader of this list. Today I want to share
a true incident with you all which is making me said and angry both
and moving my inner conscience. although it may be out of the scope of

Now I straight do come to the incident. I was happened to travel to my
hometown along with another visually challenged friend Baljeet from
Gurgaon where I came for some urgent work. My home town which is also
in Gurgaon was not even very far off. A private buss which I knew was
heading to our location. Conductor misguided us and physically forced
us for not to board this buss. Despite his constant negation and
slight force to prevent us we got in to the buss by equal force as
many of you would have done at any point in your life more in case of
private busses. My visually challenged friend alighted on his
destination before me. I communicated to the conductor that I may
inform the PCR if he behaved in such an offending manner especially
when I was ready to pay the fair. In a fit of anger he said to me “ek
kan par marunga”. I will blow on your ear. i got literally afraid. If
it punctured my airdrum though law will take its course but I will
never get my ear back. Therefore, at that time I thought wiseful to
remain silent. Even many of the gentlemen and gentle ladies commuters
were saying that: “are buss men baitha to liya na. tumhe isiliye koi
baithata hi nahi hai”. (at last conductor has allowed you to sit in
the buss so how does it matter?” for this reason (the way you are
behaving ) no conductors wants such people enter in to their busses.”
I tried to make them convince and understand in a soft voice in my
best capacity that I also have self-respect and dignity I am also
paying him equal fair and how can he refuse me the entry in to the
buss? I made them understand that though as they were saying the bus
was private but it was for public transprtation. but they (two or
three co-passengers) were adamant. Some of others were saying “are
Kuch nahi hua seat to mil gain a ab chup-chap baith jao” “now you have
got seat therefore now you can sit quietly.” As if I was struggling it
all to get a place to sit in the buss. At last I phoned to PCR.
Despite my repeated exhortation conductor refuse to talk to the PCR.
Even he refused to divulge body number of the buss as PCR was asking
the buss number. Even the worst part is that no passenger was ready
to tell me the same. Anyhow I could manage to inform the location of
the buss. The other worst part was that PCR informed me that police is
waiting for the buss at a distance of around seven KM from the
location of the buss. I wonder if it is the case in Gurgaon than what
might be the condition in smaller and far-flung cities and villages.
For this reason I didn’t get down on my destination as which was
before that. Even conductor taunted me “are vaikil sahib aap ka

could manage to inform the location of the buss. The other worst part
was that PCR informed me that police is waiting for the buss at a
distance of around seven KM from the location of the buss. I wonder if
it is the case in Gurgaon than what might be the condition in smaller
and far-flung cities and villages. For this reason I didn’t get down
on my destination as which was before that. Even conductor taunted me
“are vaikil sahib aap ka stoppage AAA Gaya” one co-passenger lady said
to conductor: “are aaj to ye tumhe hathkadi hi pahana kar maanega”.
“Isiliye to tumhe koi baithata nahi hai. ek tobuss men baitha bhi
liyaoopar se tum uski complaint kar rahe ho”. “kuch bhi to aisa nahi

began apologizing and at the same time feigned their innocence in the
matter as if they did not know anything about it, They pretended that
any such thing didn’t occurred and they did not in indulge anything of
sort. Some of the Passengers also took their sides. They were many but
I argued my case with them for almost one hour. Anyhow after heated
arguments I was able to compel police to chalan the buss as initially
they were not ready to do. Cutting it short conductor and driver
profusely apologized to me and emotionally blackmailed me by all means
and methods that they knew. Now Police was ready to issue Chalan now
it was all up to my will. He was swearing in the name of Ramadan at
another occasion he said that I am also Yadav of your community. Here
my purpose is not to comment on any religion but to expose his lies.
At this point police played their usual spoiler. Although I refused to
share contact details any of my family members. Perhaps in their mind
they knew that only my family members could convince me take back my
complaint. they took me along with them to drop me at my home as they
were not ready to let me go on my home though I insisted several
times that I am adult and you do talk to me as it has occurred with
me. When they didn’t yielded I have to go with them to my home. Now
all driver, conductor and police began to apologize and convince all
my family members and brothers and uncles to persuade me to take back
the complaint. There also police was stating that they were ready to
Chelan the buss and they have to if I still insisted. Although
initially I refused to take back the complaint at no cost but under
moral pressure and prolonged persuasion especially by my family
members I felt compelled to take back the complaint otherwise Chalan
was certain. Here the incident ends.

[AI] my dilemma and social atitude

2013-08-26 Thread sonu yadav
Hi friends, I am a regularreader of this list. Today I want to share
an incident with you all which is making me said and angery both and
moving my inner conscience. although it may be out of the scope of
this list but I feel our visual disability is in the centre of this
incident in which I happened to get involved today. This incident is
about our day today accessibility, experiences which we ordinarily
face outside and even more in the society. It has enriched my
experience as being disabled. I am expecting your comments and remarks
over it and about what we all should do in such circumstances.
Now I straight do come to the incident. I was happened to travel to my
hometown along with another visually challenged friend Baljeet from
Gurgaon where I came for some urgent work. A private buss which I knew
was heading to our location. Conductor misguided us and physically
forcing us for not to board this buss. Despite we got in to the buss
by equal force as many of you would have done at any point in your
life more in case of private busses. My friend alighted on his
destination before me.
Therefore, at that time I thought wishful to
remain silent. Even many of the gentlemen and gentle ladies commuters
were saying that: “are buss men baitha to liya na. tumhe isiliye koi
baithata hi nahi hai”. I tried to make them convince and understand in
a soft voice in my best capacity but they were adamant. Some of others
were saying “are Kuch nahi hua seat to mil gain a ab chup-chap baith
jao”. At last I phoned to PCR. Despite my repeated exhortation
conductor refuse to talk to the PCR. Even he refused to divulge body
number of the buss as PCR was asking the buss number. Even the worst
part is that no passenger was ready to tell me the same. Anyhow I
could manage to inform the location of the buss. The other worst part
was that PCR informed me that police is waiting for the buss at a

Re: [AI] How to find and replace the numbers in an MS word document?

2013-08-26 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafel
I am facing the problem while pasting some text in footnote area, if I
am copying some text which in italics and directly pasting in footnote
area, it is being pasted with its original font and not of footnote's.
Suppose I have written some journal name in italics , and pasting it
in footnote area, it is being pasted of its original size, which was
12, while footnmote size is in 10. If I paste specially as unformatted
text, the italicized text becomes regular, what to do?

Re: [AI] cheques with thumb impression.

2013-08-26 Thread Eyeway Helpdesk
Hello Habeeb,

Aadab!

Please inform your friend that no bank can discriminate or deny cheque-book,
ATM Debit card, Credit Card, locker, loan and all other 3rd party products
and services established.
But there does exist ignorance and many a times Bank officials put up
hassles by not providing Self accounts, ATM Debit Cards, Cheque- book. In
these cases it is necessary to apprise bank officials about equality of
services and of course guidelines passed by Reserve Bank and Indian Banks
Association.

Albeit, there is a practical problem of signature mismatches, also the fact
that most regional banks are still to be updated about the technologies, for
example- the bio-metric finger print reading devices.

Hence your friend needs to decide what is going to be most favorable for
him, cheque or ATM.
There after, get in touch with us on the below provided numbers and we will
let you know how to deal with the situation.

Best,

Subject: [AI] cheques with thumb impression.

Hello friends,
One of my friends is denied provision to use cheques with thumb impression
by a nationalised bank. Some other banks are permitting the same. Please
give me clarification on this and possible any orders to help him if it is
there. He being in his old age fails to go to the bank frequently to collect
his pention. When he submits self thumbed cheques, the bank officials are
not ready to accept it. They say that in such cases, he must personally come
to encash the cheques.
He can use ATM but he is not so confident about it.

[AI] cheques with thumb impression.

2013-08-26 Thread habeeb. c
Hello friends,
One of my friends is denied provision to use cheques with thumb
impression by a nationalised bank. Some other banks are permitting the
same. Please give me clarification on this and possible any orders to
help him if it is there. He being in his old age fails to go to the
bank frequently to collect his pention. When he submits self thumbed
cheques, the bank officials are not ready to accept it. They say that
in such cases, he must personally come to encash the cheques.
He can use ATM but he is not so confident about it.

Re: [AI] what is the possibility for visually challenged person to do programming?

2013-08-26 Thread Kartik Sawhney
Hi,

Programming is very much possible. In fact, several blind people are
working as successful software programmers in India and abroad. The
software that you will use depends upon the language you're coding.
For C++, I personally have used Dev C++, and have found it to be very
accessible. Microsoft's Visual C++ is also accessible. For command
line programming, you may want to use cygwin. I've also used VB, and
found it absolutely doable.

Best,

reinstalling all chat clients in PC as well as in mobile, but, the
result is same.

2. Here is the problem with skype.
In my skype, I am able to see only skype contacts which has online and
offline with call forwarding. I am unable to see contacts who is in

If he or she comes online, it is showing his or her contacts. But, if
he or she goes offline, I am unable to see his or her contact.
This is not problem with application, problem with my skype account.
because, By using same application, I have tried with my friend's
skype ID. But, it is showing all contacts including online, offline,
and, offline with call forwarding.

What would be the issue?

[AI] [flight-wethepwd:949] Civil Services CAT orders --coverage in Today's Indian Express

Four visually-impaired UPSC candidates may get civil service jobs

Five years ago, Shivam Kumar had cleared the Union Public Services
Commission (UPSC) examination, but he was not appointed to the civil
services. Now, he stands a chance to join the coveted service as the
Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has directed the UPSC to give
appointment letters to four visually-impaired candidates by October this
year since they had secured more marks than some general category
candidates who cleared the same examinations.

"Despite scoring more than at least six general category candidates who
were selected for various posts in the civil services, I was discriminated
against. I along with three other candidates — Pankaj Kumar Srivastava,
Abhishek Kumar and Rahul Mittal — moved the CAT which has ruled in our
favour," said Kumar, now 34 years old.

A resident of Motihari in Bihar, Kumar lost his vision when he was 17. "For
four years, I sat at home and indulged in pooja paath (prayers). I was told
there was no cure to this disease and I submitted myself to God. But in
2001, I decided to move to Delhi and learnt Braille. I completed my
graduation and managed to clear the UPSC exams in three attempts," added
Kumar, who works as a lower division clerk at a Delhi court.

In 2010, the National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled (NPRD) had
taken up the case of 11 such candidates who had cleared the UPSC
examinations. The delegation also met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after
which seven of them got appointment letters in February last year. "Those
who were left out, once again approached the CAT and their contempt
petitions were upheld. The government has now been asked to implement the
CAT's earlier order for their induction by October 17. Lets see what
happens now," said Muralidharan of the NPRD.

The four candidates first approached CAT in 2010 as it concerned service
matters. The CAT bench headed by its chairman Justice V K Bali and
vice-chairman L K Joshi had asked the UPSC to "consider allocation of the
applicants to suitable services as per their choices." When the UPSC did
not implement the order, Kumar and others moved contempt petitions twice —
in 2012 and 2013. The July 2013 order of the principal bench of the CAT
stated: "One more opportunity is given to both the respondents (UPSC and
DoPT) to carry out exercise in terms of the order dated May 30, 2012 in
letter and spirit, and communicate the outcome of the same to the
applicants. Needful be done within a period of three months."

[AI] Go Digital: Remove dependence on paper for obvious tasks in daily life

2013-08-26 Thread Vishnu Ramchandani
Go Digital: Remove dependence on paper for obvious tasks in daily life

HITESH RAJ BHAGAT, ET Bureau

It means that you reduce or remove dependence on paper for obvious tasks in
daily personal and office life. ET offers a few tips and tools to get you
started.

Going paperless doesn't mean that you will never handle another sheet of paper.
It means that you reduce or remove dependence on paper for obvious tasks in
daily personal and office life. Hitesh Raj Bhagat offers a few tips and tools
to get you started

Go Digital

Opt for Digital Receipts

Instead of paper bills and receipts, opt for digital ones sent to your email
ID. All you have to do is key in your email ID at the time of payment. To
collate all receipts in one place, you could use tags and labels, an email
alias or a separate email ID itself.

Store Paper Online

Free services such as Dropbox, Box and Google Drive offer a decent amount of
online storage and are accessible from various devices. You can use these tools
to share documents with others (over email, chat and even SMS), store all kinds
of data and keep stuff synced across your devices.

Digitally Signing Documents

If you receive a digital document you need to sign, don't print it out to scan.
You can digitally sign and instantly send back via return email. You could use
Gmail's HelloSign (www.hellosign.com/gmail). On your portable devices, use an
app called SignNow - you can simply use the touchscreen to sign a document and
send back immediately.

Evernote Everything

Evernote works with any device. You can use it to remember anything, jot down
lists, save stuff you liked for later reading, record audio, share anything and
even keep personal notes organised, searchable and accessible later from any
device. If you need to stay in sync with multiple people, you can also try
digital collaborative tools like www.scribblar.com and www.scriblink.com.

Gadgets

Portable Scanner

Digital scanners are now small enough to be carried in a laptop bag. This one,
the Scanny 6 from Portronics (`6,999), offers high-quality scans, a built-in
battery and a colour screen. It can also hold thousands of scans and when you
want to transfer the scans to a computer, a simple USB cable does the trick. Â
Wacom Tablets

Designers and infographic artists can benefit a lot from Wacom technology.
Apart from precise, pressure-sensitive stylus technology built into several
Android tablets and smartphones, Wacom also sell their own tablets. The Wacom's
Cintiq 13HD (`89,000) has a 1080p IPS LCD screen built into a 14mm thick frame.
It connects to both Windows and Mac and allows any design professional to draw
directly on the screen with up to 2048 levels of pressure. Wacom also sells Pen
& Touch tablets for drawing directly on a computer screen, at prices starting
at Rs 9,190.

LCD Writing Board

Instead of Post It, try the innovative Boogie Board. The basic version (`2,999)
has an 8.5 inch writing surface and comes with a stylus. The more expensive
Boogie Board Rip (`5,990) also has built in storage. You can write and scribble
while each page gets digitally stored. Later, you can connect the device to a
computer using USB and download all the saved pages.

Apps

CamCard

The next time someone offers you a business card, take a quick photo with the
CamCard app on your phone and give it back. CamCard offers free and paid
versions for Android, iOS, BlackBerry and Windows 8 - it serves as a digital
business card reader and organiser.

CamScanner

If you don't have a scanner handy, you can use an app called CamScanner to take
a photograph of what you need to scan - right from your smartphone. The app
will automatically correct, crop, re-position and reorient the photograph to
make it look like it was digitally scanned. You can save your scanned documents
online on www. camscanner.net for easy access or sync them across your devices.

[AI] UPSC--Blind Candidates--ICS

2013-08-26 Thread National Platform For The Rights of the Disabled (NPRD)
Four visually-impaired UPSC candidates may get civil service jobs (Indian
Express, August 26, 2013)

Vijaita Singh : New
Delhi, Mon Aug 26 2013, 01:01 hrs
