Re: [AI] Pakistan blind cricketers denied UK visa

2009-08-18 Thread YADAVDN
I could not think it a ‘plain stupidity’ UK to do that. Security of the
country should be seen in much larger perspective than mere parameters of
‘blind or no blind’. This is the most beautiful part of UK policy I always
appreciate that it doesn’t play hypocrisy in Indian contexts like that of
USA to reprimand Pak once & then support it underneath when things subside.

I know a blind person may not be capable to do all that UK suspects, can’t
he be made to do that when ladies can be utilized to prove human bombs?
It’s not here Pakistant in question, any international events/issues should
not be seen in any nation’s particular perspective.

Remember, HDDs too have repeat format limitations & may not support computer

[AI] Fw: VACANCY - Lecturers - English,Hindi and Commerce -

2007-06-12 Thread YADAVDN
Dear friends,

Pettiness/significance of a subject, of course, could not be justified by
mere personal views & Rahul may not be absolutely justified to call it so.
However, I would add a point to what is going on here that guns should be
triggered to those who are defaulters. DU & DU system for recruiting VC
should be put to scrutiny for laundering malpractices instead of flaying
Anubhuti who is certainly doing something for this community for, may be,
petty gains.

As for this forum-a problem solving platform, I have been seeking a solution
to reading scanned documents with Fine Reader from this forum a no. of
times, can I justify it calling a problem unsolving forum for not getting a
solution so far? It would be great if I could prove the point that a big
problem of mine could be a petty point for you, may not be petty in reality.

Talking on general terms, I subscribe to the idea put forward by Vipin
referring political trends with respect to appointments & other univ.
activities. The outstanding illustration of this could be no better
evident than today's vital political say of factional politics in DU
election. & it could be well beyond any honest man's imagination thinking
any state governed body keeping away from political sway. Though the case
may not be same vis-a-vis 'vc' appointee as a vi lacks political clout &
almost predestined to fight out for his piece of pie, in normal cases the
fact could not be overlooked.

& yes, 'justice is natural'. There are just two things; justice & injustice
in this case which we know by our innate Nature. It becomes a
social/political issue only when we try act smart & try to prove 'natural
justice, unjust. I am sure the present move of DU policies need careful
scrutiny in this respect & may not be overlooked.

[AI] hdfc ATM card

2007-05-07 Thread YADAVDN
No Sanjeev, I wouldn't advise you to go for HDFC ac if you can still undo it
on any ground. Yes, I do have a debit card, HDFC, I am totally blind too.
They might have issued me on basis of 'no signature mismatch. However, I
would advise you not to go for HDFC on few basic grounds.

For any smallest request like ATM pin, statement or any other you have to
pay. Their correspondence system is exceptionally bad. Even most of the
online service thereof are costing. Their ATM/Debit is renewable every year
with some charges. Nobody other than you may be able to make any cash
deposit, mind you-cash deposit. In case they do not provide you with
ATM/debit, you'll have a lot of difficulty to withdraw money.

My experience with HDFC could be personal but this is what I have to say.

'Raising the child by parents' Harish perhaps meant the child never being

However, the proposition could not fit everywhere particularly where

education of a VI child has to be in a special school & then in an
integrated school. So why not look for a school which includes both??? I
suppose NAB, Delhi for nursery co-ed. children could be a good option where
I understand the two are linked together. At least I know a few people who
got good education in renowned schools as Delhi Public School, Delhi, etc.

Hi Harish, I may not totally agree. Reasons-this is not an academic
classroom where only book lewsons are taught. We are talking about
accessibility too. When somebody is honoured by awards, not only he
deserves praises but the list also ought to know what weight it carries to
win an award & who the person is. For example, I might have missed reading
mails yesterday when Dattu reported his award. I can know it today or
tommorrow through con. messages. Similarly, it looks like a religious
academics only to hear & not post your views about 'agree/disagree. Mind as

Go ahead but not with a religious attitude.

Re: [AI] Banking services- a question to resolve-Charges for DC f or sure

2006-11-22 Thread YADAVDN
Dear listers,

Thanks for your encouraging terms with a right approach.

I am afraid I may not have the photocopy of the Ac opening form of the same.
However, in the times when DSAs of the respective banks tend to leverage
their best touting skills to pursue their likely customers generally offer
you more than what the bank actually gives. & in such cases when once you
sign the document the copy of the respective document testifies only your
acceptance to what is written their as terms of acceptance. I cannot
virtually dare to challenge this in a court of law too as one of our
colleagues suggested it could be a 'Bank's discretion' to put this in as
terms & conditions. Besides, I need not keep a record of such documents too
- thanks to MNCs for bringing competition in India today - where I have
other recourse to abandon their services.

I am sure this debit is towards the same as it clearly states in the Net
statement dated Aug. 29 as: '29/08/06 ,DEBIT CARD ANNUAL FEES.' Thanks
for your encouraging words.

[AI] Banking services- a question to resolve

2006-11-21 Thread YADAVDN
Dear friends,

To resolve your disputes pertaining to credit cards, RBI has appointed
ombudsman to approach in case you are not satisfied with your concerned
bank's reply. My colleagues from banking sector may kindly apprise me
whether such ombudsmen entertain complaints relating SBAs, Debit cards as
well? In case not, where to approach for redresses beyond bank's PURVIEW.

The case relates to HDFC Bank Saving Bank Ac who charge annual fees for
Debit Card which is the case otherwise in ICICI & SCB where I avail the same
facilities without any such annual levies on these heads. Although this
could be their 'Product serving policy', I would like to bring it to such
banking regulator's notice before choosing to discontinue the services of
HDFC Bank in case of unfavourable decision.

Re: [AI] Members pl take note

2006-11-15 Thread YADAVDN
Dear Friends, Sorry to intervene. Since we are 'learned men' (well
educated, intelligent) let us drop out age old rustic words that abrade our
feelings & use refined words. You always have to find a suitable words to
convey your emotional value to anything in relation. For example, I cannot
call my mother as my father's instead of mom just because that is
reality. So reality is one thing, refinement & improvement are crucially
important to get better positions. It's also not true we haven't got
anything in our journey during 'Blind, VH, VD & VC. In a remote village
even we as 'learned men' are still 'andhaa is coming', whereas in cities it
could be different as per mental aptitude of each other person. So far we
have been unable to accommodate to use refined words to use ourselves, how
can we expect general public to term more than 'blind agitators?' I really
could not make out what to term a short-statured person probably because he
was never clubbed in a Handicapped category in public opinion but I am sure
he would be shorter than his short stature if he could not elevate his
mental power to coin himself other than 'vertically challenged. After all
everybody in my office from 4th grade to A grade is human & employee of this
Corporation. However, almost all in the higher grade would seldom like to
be called by their names in full or like to be addressed in the same way an
humble employee would like to be probably because they are 'learned men'
attained a particular status in office, in life, & above all, bound by a
general rule of norm etiquette. So let us go forward to VC rather than
reverting to 'Andhaa.'

Re: [AI] Use disability not handicap

2006-11-15 Thread YADAVDN
Dear Listers,

The views expressed here are of course my personal-hence they cannot be
final truth. However, I do not agree that 'blindness' is our identity.
Blindness cannot be only a blind man's sole birthright or first right
because there are many other types like religious blind, politically blind,
rationally blind, mental blind & so on. Our sole identity is as an
individual human as we are being which others cannot replicate. Are we not
narrowing our scope in human psychology with somewhat like fanaticism?
Somebody rightly said we have to change the meaning of blind related to us
rather than adopting it for our

Next, to prepare a pedestal we have to erect a groundwork/structure first
like in order to become literate, alphabets are the basics. On the same
line, unless we begin using/hearing healthy words defining us, our
groundwork of whole frame of healthy atmosphere for a VC remains undone. As
far surety of 'nicety' champions using the same in the absence, the best
answer is: 'if we try risk we may fail, without trying we ensure it'.

Re: [AI] Members pl take note of using blind in communication

2006-11-14 Thread YADAVDN
"Charity begins at home" they say. So if we want others to use nice words
for us instead of 'blind' or so, we should care to use nice words amongst
ourselves too I suppose unlike somebody who thinks we need not care for
'niceties amongst us. Remember if we want our children to call us with a
respectful word, we will have to tender same delicacies to our father as
example to our children. Unless we care to learn what tastes us good/bad,
others may have little scope to learn our tastes. So I agree with Rajani we
should use healthy words to refer us, be here or elsewhere.

[AI] One more Achievement

2006-11-09 Thread YADAVDN
The news heralds a new beginning in breaking the language barriers if
reported in true spirits. However, to see its real success in the field of
Hindi work facilitation with respect to a blind, the software should be
demonstrated to NAB, New Delhi to work in conjunction with SAFA. Mr. Dangi,
of course, deserves our compliments for his achievements.

Hello Everybody!
Enable India is planning to conduct Teacher's Training workshop for those
who are interested to teach computers for VI.
According to our plan, the workshop should start in the beginning of
December 2006. Since we are still waiting for funding &
certification from RCI, the dates might get postponed.
However, still we would like to have the workshop in the scheduled date for
needed people only if they can manage their travel
fare, accommodation & also can pay the course fee.
For further details, please contact on the numbers given below.

[AI] Disabled students turn to foreign universities

2006-09-28 Thread YADAVDN
People like Helen Keller, B.B. Choudhary & many others possessed that unique
power which could not be deterred with all oddities of life. & Homer, John
Milton could be no exceptions to them. But how many of us could profess to
be so, or even if there is somebody, how can he prove his worth unless given
a footing?? This is where Corporate Social Responsibilities or 'social
welfare benefit' work-preparing a ground for those who could have more than
us but never got a chance to come out of their ignored world. So the
question here is not the Western nations as fertile ground for poets,
writers & so on, the point here is despite all we have not prepared ground
yet to discharge us from routine anxieties of serving our bread & butter
hardly getting time for anything else.

& hardships? Do they have their first birthright to befall on us?? In my
opinion straying from place to place for collecting material for study is
virtually adding nothing to your creativity, neither such 'hardships' add a
jot to your fortunes. Your actual battlefield is the study hour you are
getting to studies. In the real world a normal person reachng the status of
professor or lecturer has today's essential life amenities of his own
bungalow, his own car, & helping hands to help on. How many of us
professors or lecturers (at least I know a few) have bothered to make life
comfortable? Are we infinitely bound to go by public transport as bearing
allegiance to being true cariers of hardships? WE can very simply say God
took away those powers from us. But did He not send us to be born in a
family of whole relatives like everybody who could be a good hand to us if
we could properly integrate us with them? We talk of our social integration
today while we are yet to integrate with our families to a large extent. So
better forget being hardship-cariers, rather think of bringing in
oportunities for everybody to give their best. Unless we stand our own in
society with our own's help, raise our status at par with our equals, live
head high, a disabled will remain a poor worker, poor teacher, a poor
professor, etc.

[AI] Disabled students turn to foreign universities

2006-09-26 Thread YADAVDN
Infrastructure to education, employment & desire of a disabled
student to go abroad are 3 different issues in terms of Indian & foreign
contexts. While basic facilities to study is the prime need of a disabled
individual, employment is nonetheless as India does not have such 'welfare
model' as somebody said like in Western countries. Well, your suggestions
not to despair as employment opportunity in India is galore as compared to
us & OTHERS is praiseworthy , is it not because India lacks in 'Social
welfare benefit' resources by which employment remains the only option for a
disabled to raise his economy? You are right to say nearly 80% of disabled
in such countries are unemployed, the literacy level of such people is far
above that in India you will see where an average blind individual has no
support of his family or of Govt. to facilitate him education. Don't you
think their approach to welfare, rehabilitation & social integration of a
disabled is more wholesome by economically enabling them to to at par with
their normal peers? Here we are always preoccupied with schooling,
colleging & ultimately getting a job to earn bread, have we ever thought of
becoming a writer, social worker, researcher, organiser or innovating
something beyond serving an employer? Somebody had quoted of Bipin Bihari
Choudhary & many such talents. Why such people have to go abroad to get
their potential recognised? Is it because we cannot see beyond disabilities
of ears, tongue, eyes & all? These potentials can well flourish too if
infrastructure provided. I agree hardships qualify for success. But a
level playing field has to be provided where even the less talented has his
share of going ahead. & this is where many Western countries are ahead of
us in thought & action where they have cared to revamp their whole social
structure from down to the top in order to deface poverty & paucity from
their society making a complete whole.
As far many 'disabled turning to foreign universities' they could be
probably numbered on fingertips not unlike their normal highly talented
equals preferring a suitable nurture in foreign soil.

[AI] Scanning Assistance

2006-09-21 Thread YADAVDN
Hi Abhijit,

Your guidelines seem to be unworking here especially when the document is
scanned one by inbuilt scanning programmes like 'Vista 3600' that I am
concerned about today. When I click on 'Recognise text' in the menu
'Process' of Fine Reader, it will say 'no pages to recognise' probably
because it looks for a Batch file to do the needful. I used to manage its
recogtnition & documentation in word by 'Open & Read' in 'Process' & sending
all pages to Word. But for past few months I am not able to do that too as
it gives error message like 'Operation completed therew was some error
adding the file'. However, if you are sure I may post my file to you for
conversion on your personal ID.

[AI] : DGCA Guidelines for Blind passengers travelling by Air

2006-08-30 Thread YADAVDN
Hello friends,

Acceding to the idea of not confusing to a mess, please allow me too to say
that let us not confuse the issue of concesional tickets with discounted
tickets or reduced tickets. Discounted/reduced tickets could be offers of
concerned Airways as a part of their drive to get hold on maximum no. of
passengers. But concessional tickets could be with a different entity as a
matter of right emanating from a sense of CSR, Govt. policy on
disability-rights & empowerment. It is true the concessional moves are till
date applicable on Govt. & PSUs, the rights on concessional tickets spare
you being subjected to availability of discounted seats. I suppose if
Airways could afford the discounted & reduced tickets, they can afford
concessional tickets too provided they take it as a matter of right. Escort
or not escort, I suppose it should be optional whether I go with or without
escort. & concession to escort definitely needs serious considerationh as
that makes us literally different from a normal passenger. He can travel a
distance spending Rs. 5000 while a person like me with escort cannot travel
same distance without more than double to the same if I have to travel
carefree.

Allotment of categorical seating rows or wings certainly categorizes us
different & discriminable while we are on the move to integrate us with rest
of the world. As far as emergency situation, I understand when 'rush for
life' is in question, it is my life first for everybody-let the crew save
themselves first & then think of the rest. So give us our right to trafvel
even if be it for meagre 1 2 or 3 percent but ensure our journey on the
given date-this is my plea.

[AI] Who should pay for concessions?Let me answer by asking who pays f or ministers, bureaucrats, MPs other so to call, senior persons of India? I deliverately leave senior citizens aside as they are

2006-08-11 Thread YADAVDN

The answer to all this is our ublic (ordinary people of India) who pay for
all above. When a minister moves, hundreds of his contingent move along -
who knows for what? Or are they all required for the purpose??? Thousands
of crores are spent on a minister for his lodging, moving & transport
facilities-is it this tiny piece of concession that counts too much???

In order to bring equality of classes you have to give concessions to less
privileged classes to eliminate vast gap between privileged & unprivileged.
& this ultimately creates a cymetry closely knit from bottom to top where
bottom & top mostly look alike giving full-fledged nation in real sense.

So I feel concession are welcome here be for a blind, physically challenged
or senior citizens. Coming to concession to a blind in particular, I
suppose it should be that not because he wants to remain an object of given
concessions for always but for many other reasons. For example, my sighted
friend may reach his destination just on Rs. 10, I may required 20 more for
rickshaw etc. apart from ticket charges. Similarly, for a smooth travel if
I arrange an escort, I should pay for him. So how can you say you are
spending less than your normal sighted peers??? Now who will bear this
cost??? Yes, the involved agencies on public money as this is their
responsibilities too to do for poor, weaker sections and many others leaving
challenged people apart.

[AI] DGCA Guidelines for Blind passengers travelling by Air

2006-08-08 Thread YADAVDN
Of dear, Let us leave somethings for the nodal agencies to take care. We
require an escort to assist us during the travel. & we want a concessional
ticket for an escort. We do not need an escort if Govt. could do that for
us. Let the checking authority take care of verify the veracity of a true
escort or a 'business associate'??? We are aware of this fraud is enough to
know our responsibilities. But facilities could never be denied upon
apprehensions.

Seating a blind person at the rear or front-should it be an issue? Why
should a blind person be discriminated to get allotted a particular seat??
Let the crew know where the person is requiring special attention.

[AI] CONCESSIONAL RAILWAY TICKET BOOKING

2006-08-02 Thread YADAVDN
I appreciate the concern raised by one of our members. It's a real issue
needs to address in proper perspective especially in this era of high tech
globalisation. IRCTC claims to be raising its service levels on netbooking
by announcing several schemes such as E-ticketing, I-ticketing, SMS booking,
availability status, etc., it time now it should take care to work on
providing concessional tickets on the site. In view of the difficulties we
have to face travelling to booking counters, long queues, abnormal behaviour
of the clerical staff at the counter, inconveniences to others due to
intrinsic delay while booking a concessional ticket, I feel the issue has to
be strongly represented to the Ministry for consideration. Perhaps our
Govts have always waited for mass representation of an issue, our individual
E-mails on the subject may catch their attention which has been left
neglected by the ministry.

Thanks,

[AI] Idea for documentary

2006-07-27 Thread YADAVDN
Hello friends,

I think human necessities are not bound by a particular culture. I need my
hand be held by somebody while crossing across- so may a person in US or UK
IF HE HAS no better option. Besides, there would be no scope to broaden our
cultural prospects if we refuse, as somebody said, 'suggestions/ from other
countries. I would be first to apologise to my foreign peers if such things
touch them deep. I know most Indian women hesitate holding hand because
either they could not see so far beyond their overcapping Indian cultural
heritage over the issue or they might not welcome so to say 'suggestions'
from other part of the world. Different cultures may have different unique
values but on human potential needs we will be called orthodox if we fail to
accept the real truths.

It's very illogical. One can take or return you from giving job-returning

A good idea. I also endorse the idea provided that in adopts a meek &

perception of our sighted compeers is not the same as we take the things
for. This is just a common phenomena for them to hold your stick in the
name of assisting you just because they can't bear others looking at them
with stare seeing them hold you closely. Our social structure is more
responsible for such behaviours & we well know whatever distinctions we have
secured in education & literacy, our mental configuration is dedicatedly
confined by the ceiling of Indian social familial boundaries. So why should
we retract from as somebody said "disseminating awareness??' Good idea, go
