Hi Access Indians,

DOOM Eternal Comes with Accessibility Options

The release of DOOM Eternal has been a success with its range of
deliberate design choices for greater accessibility.

Throughout the Settings options players are presented with various
Accessibility options across multiple tabs. For example, a Colorblind
option can be
found in the tabs for UI, Video, Accessibility, and elsewhere all with
different functions. For the rendering options, players can select
None (default),
Protanopia, Tritanopia, or Deuteranopia. Color Vision Deficiency, or
CVD, affects roughly 1 in 12 men.

There are many more options to choose from. Controller Layout is
another point for consideration, with several common layouts offered,
but also the ability
to custom map a controller as one sees fit. For people with limited
mobility and who find the usage of traditional controllers too
difficult, this is ideal.
The example mentioned earlier of the custom controller takes this
approach to heart as well.

Another set of options for accessibility comes in the form of player
perspective in game. Both the Field of View and Motion Blur can be
adjusted, which
perfect for players who get motion sickness from playing with rigid
settings that cannot be adjusted.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9Mz5QHhi04=emb_title

When looking at everything that DOOM Eternal offers by default, it can
be jarring to go back to other games that offer little or no options
for increasing
Accessibility.

Moving forward, it should be the industry norm to make games with a
focus on Accessibility, especially for the larger developers who both
have the infrastructure
and resources to create such tools and should be industry leaders.
Although DOOM Eternal does a great job at creating an inclusive game
for all types of
players, it is an exception to the rule, and not the norm.

Acapela offers three-month free trial period

Acapela, in the context of the global crisis due to the coronavirus
(COVID19), has launched a limited offer that will allow users with visual
impairment of NVDA to use their voices free of charge for 3 months (90
days). It will be in force from today until the end of the crisis. To
access it, it is necessary to send an email to the address
acapela-nvda-mobilizat...@acapela-group.com with our contact details (they
do not specify which ones, but I suppose that name and email). They will
respond to us with license information for product activation

is this right? Or hoax?

2020-02-03 Thread Binni Kumari
Hi There,

Few more quick things which a candidate can keep in mind:
1. What is the percentage of vision impairment?
2. What stream of engineering he wants to get into?
3. Does the candidate has an educated family? Meaning to ask is he or
his family able to advocate for him?
4. Since engineering is not a course of majority of people with visual
impairment hence advocacy is of course needed.
5. While opting for the course the candidate should also keep career
options in mind as there are few career options in engineering for
people with visual impairment.
6. Would you mind telling the name of the candidate? I believe I have
responded to a candidate a month or two back regarding the same
subject matter.

Good morning all,

Yesterday evening I received a call from a visually impaired person from
Bagalkot in Karnataka. He has done his 2nd year PUC and wants to become an
engineer. He has approached many institutions but to be turned down. Is there
any way out for this person, I told him that I will try and help him get the
right connect.
Kindly guide me. Many thanks in advance.

As India marks 73rd Independence Day, The Logical Indian brings you
the journey of the Indian Republic from the clutches of the British
rule to becoming one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.
Over the next few days, we will focus on key parameters, sectors and
issues that are crucial to the Union Of India.
The railway is one of the most preferred media of public transport in
India. Established in 1845, the Indian Railways (IR) is one of the
oldest and largest rail networks in the world. With the total length
of 1,21,407 kilometres, the IR carries over 8 billion passengers and
over 1.1 billion of cargo every year.
The first train ran in India in 1837 in Madras. It was powered by a
steam locomotive and travelled from Red Hills to Chintadripet. Within
20 years all the major metropolitan centres – Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta
and Madras – were linked by an extensive railway network. The
country’s hill railways were laid in the next 50 years. Less than a
century after the railways entered into India, as many as 54,000
kilometres of tracks were added to the country’s network at the annual
rate of 600 km.
1845-1925: Towards centralisation
After years of construction and financial investments, the railways
finally began to incur profits in 1901. It was during this period the
government’s intervention increased dramatically.
GIPR (Great Indian Peninsula Railway) was the first company to become
state-owned in 1845. First passenger train ran from Bori Bundar in
Bombay to Thane in 1853. By the end of the 19th century, the
government had purchased all significant lines and started leasing
them to private operators.
The Railway Board was established in 1901, including a government
official, an English railway manager and an agent of one of the
company railways.
In 1905, powers were formalised by the government. Efforts were made
towards a centralised management system, with both GIPR and East
Indian Railways (EIR) being nationalised in 1923.
Later, World War I took its toll on the development of Indian rail
with production diverted to meet British requirements outside of
India. Towards the end of the war, the Indian Railways was in a state
of disrepair, with several services suspended. Railway finances were
separated from the general budget in 1924, with the railway receiving
its first individual dividend in 1925.
The first electric train ran between Bombay and Kurla on 3 February
1925, setting an example for further electrification in future.
Ups And Downs
The economic depression kick-started by the Wall Street Crash, which
had an impact on the Indian Railways. Meanwhile, World War II also
hindered railway development, as wagons were extensively commandeered
for military movements.
In 1947, the departure of Britain bifurcated the nation in two, losing
more than 40 per cent of the network to the newly created Pakistan.
Two major lines, the Bengal Assam and North Western Railway, were
divided and isolated from the Indian rail system. In the
post-partition furore, violent mobs damaged railway infrastructure and
attacked trains carrying refugees.
The early 1960s witnessed the network getting equipped with modern
locomotives, fast trains, new world-class rolling stock and good
service. Electrification was at its peak, and there was a rapid
decline in the production of steam engines, as electric and diesel
were entering the industry.
But the good days were short-lived. The aftermath of the Indo-China
war (1962) squeezed the Railways out of its ambitious expansion and
modernisation plans. Several long-distance Air-Conditioned trains and
“Super Expresses” were introduced along with several classes and
accommodations.
This led to the introduction of the first Rajdhani Express which ran
on March 3, 1969, between Howrah and New Delhi. By this time, around
3500 route kilometres had been electrified.
This decade was also the one where the Indian Railways added the
newest tracks since independence, with around 3500 km of new track
being laid.
The 1970s- Best Period Before 2000
The railways witnessed a stagnation as the economy slowed down, and
the technological advancement could not be maintained at the same
pace.
However, one major body was set up, the Central Organisation for
Railway Electrification (CORE) which focused on electrifying all
feasible routes in India.
The steam production shut with the last steam engine rolling out of
Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) in 1975.
They tried to bring about “equality among classes” by making classless
trains like the New Delhi – Ernakulam/Mangalore Jayanti Janata
Express, Gitanjali Express, Himgiri Express etc., all of which were
unsuccessful.
Towards the end of the 1970s, train structures were overhauled with
colonial-era coaches being rapidly replaced by the new “Integral”
ones.
Madhu Dandavate, the then Railway Minister, was the brainchild behind
much of these reforms and is still considered the real “moderniser” of
the Indian Railways. His greatest

Hai Friends:

Here's my latest blogpost. I call it a maintenance manual for positive
attitude. Read on aand let me know your thoughts.

A band aid to stick back your broken self…and get out strong from
tough situations

Do you get overwhelmed by challenges? Do your limitations scare you?
You’re not alone. In fact, we both are sailing pretty much in the same
boat. But we’re lucky to have our unique challenges, because if you
don’t have anything to struggle against, you don’t have anything to
struggle for.
And that’s the point. When you struggle, you crash and break in an
emotional sense. Things don’t always work the way you expect and you
run out of ideas and out of steam. When you work with a perceived
limitation like a disability (as most physical environments often make
us feel), you should be mentally prepared to take on the challenges
pretty much every second.

While using both the devices Amazon echo and Google home what I found is
1. If you are a Amazon prime customer then Amazon echo is more useful,
Alexa can play many Indian radio stations like a IR FM gold FM rainbow
radio Mirchi radio Nasha radio dhamaal and many others, she can also play
BBC Hindi radio from TuneIn NDTV India and NDTV can also be accessed by the
Alexa. On the other hand Google home can play NDTV India but as if now it
is unable to play Indian radio station and FM. Google play music can be
used with Google home but very few songs are available for free subscribers
but if you are a Google music subscriber then a lot of options are
available to play.
2. to play the videos from the Amazon prime or YouTube you need to connect
compatible TVS to both Amazon echo and Google home. Same is also required
to play the videos from Netflix or any video provider.
3. while finding the facts on the Internet both the devices are more or
less ok.
As if now both the devices cannot search the information from the specified
websites like Google or Yahoo but both the devices can search the general
information from the internet.
4. Google home uses Google assistant to provide the information so Hindi
language is also there in Google home. While Hindi language is not
supported by the Alexa as of now.
As I mentioned in my previous mail in terms of sound quality Google home is
the best option otherwise Amazon echo is good according to my findings.
Both Amazon echo and Google home can control many compatible household
devices like lights, TVs, ACs and so on.

She is nice.
But she doesn't search the net generally and is confined to apps configured
with her by amazon.
For instance, she reads Wikipedia pages if asked more information, but would
not fetch information from google.
She would not play a clip from youtube, but would from saavan and amazon prime.

So, what I want to ask, does google home search net in general and fetch and
read information from anywhere?
If so, she is better.

Today (07:49) Jaffer Sharief: ‘Uni-gauge’ man who revolutionised
railways (timesofindia.indiatimes.com)

BENGALURU: For Karnataka which was neglected by railways for decades,
C K Jaffer Sharief's tenure in the railway ministry is remembered as
the golden period for the state.Sharief, 87, a Congress veteran died
in Bengaluru on Sunday afternoon following brief illness. He was the
Union minister of state for railways in 1980 when Indira Gandhi
returned to power as the Prime Minister. Rail enthusiasts say Sharief
was instrumental in modernization of the Indian railways during his
tenure as Union railway minister from 1991 to 1995.They say his
ambitious conversion of metre-gauge to broad-gauge has helped railways
increase its carrying capacity. Karnataka was among the beneficiaries
with about 1,000km gauge conversion works out of 6,000km sanctioned
for the entire country during his tenure.Rail activists say Sharief
also played a vital role in establishment of a new railway zone in
Karnataka (South Western Railway), formation of Bengaluru railway
division, Rail Wheel Factory in Yelahanka, Inland Container Depot in
Whitefield and also turning Yeshwanthpur into the third railway
terminal for Bengaluru, Railway Recruitment Board in Bengaluru and
also introduction of more premium services like Shatabdi, Rajdhani and
Express trains from Karnataka.“He was called ‘uni-gauge railway
minister’ since he decided to convert metre-gauge, narrow-gauge into
broad-gauge so that country can have one single gauge system and most
of railway development happened during his time. His demise is a big
loss to Karnataka” says rail enthusiast Deepak Ulli.“He was
instrumental in rolling out many new trains like Chennai- Mysuru
Shatabdi, Bengaluru- Hubballi Shatabdi (now it runs as Jan Shatabdi),
Bengaluru- Delhi Rajdhani and Karnataka Express. Without his
contribution we would have been stuck 30 years behind to the present
context in terms of railway infrastructure” said S Yogendra, another
rail fan."He introduced many trains which connected Bengaluru with
other states and was responsible for the speedy conversation of
Bengaluru - Guntakal and Bengaluru -Mysuru line into broad-gauge" says
Krishna Prasad, a rail activist.“He was a visionary in initiating
broad-gauge conversion across India during 1990's. He played key role
in bringing important railway projects across Karnataka during his
tenure with time bound implementation” said Sanjeev Dyamannavar, a
commuter rail activist.Sherief also took the initiative of conversion
of sections like Bengaluru-Guntakal, Bengaluru- Mysuru and Miraj-
Hubballi-Bengaluru to broad gauge, construction of new lines like
Chitradurga – Rayadurga and Mangaluru-Roha (Konkan railway) among the
few. He also introduced several direct trains to various cities from
Karnataka, construction of road over and road under bridges and
renovation of several stations. In fact, he also took an initiative
for the railways to conduct a techno-economic survey and the project
report submitted to the state government for a suburban transport
system for Bengaluru in 1983 later paved way for metro rail.

tenure as Union railway minister from 1991 to 1995.They say his
ambitious conversion of metre-gauge to broad-gauge has helped railways
increase its carrying capacity.

You can think of Saregama caravan. It is available from 1500-2500. Depending on

6,000. You can get it online. It is having a very nice retro look.

Re: [AI] (no subject)

2018-10-10 Thread Ravi N. Hiremath
Hello, I have a small suggestion for you, with your talent, in between
the programs, when you are practicing, try to record your content, I
mean, self composed songs, instrument playing, and so on what you
have, into videos, then, why not try to create your own youtube
channel, and upload the videos of your talent? It is also a large
virtual world of audience, where your talent may shine, further,
people will recognize you, share your channel's link in social media,
it may also help you to build audience, and much more, and later,
after you meet the requirements, youtube may also be a source of
revenue for you from the adds.
I know, it's a long process, but why not try? Luck may hold your hand there.
Or, if you have already done this all above mentioned work, then, wish
you all the best.
Thank you.

Today (10:11) Gateway to IT hub, Heelalige railway station wallows in
neglect (timesofindia.indiatimes.com)

Commentary/Human Interest

BENGALURU: Located just 7km away from Bengaluru’s IT nerve centre
Electronics City, Heelalige railway station is a picture of utter
neglect. It has no roof, while its toilets are always locked. In the
absence of a foot overbridge (FOB), commuters are forced to put their
lives at risk and hop across the tracks to reach platform No. 2.
The station’s condition is shocking given that it’s a gateway to the
tech corridors of Bengaluru and has enormous potential to emerge as a
suburban rail hub. Prominent companies like Wipro, Infosys, Biocon,
HP, HCL, Seimens, Tech Mahindra, Happiest Minds and Capgemini, and
multispecialty hospitals like Narayana Health City and Mazumdar-Shaw
Cancer Center are in its vicinity.
Trains passing through the station connect Yeshwantpur, Hebbal,
Bellandur Road, Sarjapur and Electronics City with Bengaluru. If
developed, the station can take vehicular pressure off Bengaluru roads
and spare commuters the onerous burden of waiting at busy
intersections like Silk Board Junction.
Railway authorities, however, are not even willing to acknowledge the
precarious and pathetic condition of Heelalige station. Their logic:
ticket revenue from the station is too less to merit any investment in
basic facilities.
Passengers, obviously, aren’t amused. “It’s one of the most
underutilized stations despite being in the IT corridor,” said Praveen
Kumar, a passenger. “Many passengers, including the elderly and women,
have to jump over the tracks to reach the other platform as there is
no FOB. Even basic amenities like toilets, drinking water and seating
arrangements for passengers are missing,” he added.
During a recent protest, activists took a train from Yeshwantpur to
Heelalige to prove the point that suburban rail can make a huge
difference to intra-city commuting. A cab journey from Yeshwantpur to
Heelalige (60km) would cost over Rs 1,000 and take two hours. But the
activists covered a distance of 40 km (by train) in an hour at just Rs
10.
Thousands of techies commute daily between various parts of Bengaluru
and Electronics City and surrounding areas using private vehicles. The
abysmally low frequency of trains along the route deters them from
taking the Heelalige route to and from their workplace. In fact, South
Western Railway (SWR) had suspended two pairs of newly introduced DEMU
trains, which ply between Banaswadi and Hosur, from May 26 to October
25 citing track renewal.
“The patronage of these trains is less since they operate during
non-peak hours. They won’t be of any use if they aren’t in sync with
office timings. The railways should also rope in companies to develop
the station under CSR funds,” said Ashok Rao, a passenger. “It’s
unsafe to reach the station in the evening as there is no lighting on
the approach road,” said Priya S, another passenger.
A senior railway official in Bengaluru division said revenue from the
station is less. “Heelalige’s daily footfall is about 250-600 so the
amenities are fewer compared to other stations. We have proposed an
FOB. We had earlier appointed a parking contractor but passengers
refused to pay the parking fee since the train fare is almost the
same,” he said.
An online petition was also started to provide a stop for express/mail
trains at the station to cut down journey time to the city to board
intercity trains. It would help residents in Anekal, Attibele,
Bommasandra, Chandapura and Electronics City, the petition said.
Needed: Safe parking zone, feeder buses.
There’s no toilet facility, which makes it difficult during an
emergency. As there’s no roof over the platforms, it’s inconvenient to
wait for trains during the rainy season. The railways should improve
the facility to attract passengers

Today (14:44) Free mobile theatre to touch three more railway stations
- TELANGANA - The Hindu (www.thehindu.com)

New Facilities/Technology

The mobile movie theatre at the Kacheguda railway station
In the next two days, if you have a train to catch from Kacheguda
railway station, do take the trouble of reaching a couple of hours
early. Even if you are passing by the station, hop into the mobile
movie theatre complete with AC, Dolby sound and crystal clear picture.
Set up on Saturday and opened by South Central Railway (SCR) General
Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav, this inflated makeshift theatre made of
fire-proof material offers you multiplex-like movie experience of the
latest Telugu and Hindi blockbusters, all free of cost.
Conceived by New Delhi-based PictureTime DigiPlex, the 150-seater
mobile theatre of 1800 sq.ft can be packed into a single giant truck
and it is usually used for screening movies including educational ones
in villages in the northern States. Three blowers keep the ambience
inside comfortable without letting in outside sounds to creep in; 10
rows of plastic chairs provide decent seating inside.
The facility has been brought here by SCR in a first-of-its-kind
initiative in the Indian railway network to showcase films on ‘Swachh
Rail – Swachh Bharat’ to kick off the fortnight-long “Swachhta Hi Sewa
– Pakhwara” till October 2 and other social awareness themes related
to railways.
Mr. Yadav is confident it will help create public awareness on several
issues concerning railways as theatres can create such an impact.
“We saw this concept during a visit to Delhi and the GM decided to get
it here. We will be screening the latest Hindi and Telugu movies with
a social message, and short films promoting cleanliness and other
initiatives of the railways,” explains spokesperson M. Umashankar
Kumar.
PictureTime Digiplex president Anurag Trivedi says its their first
foray into the South and maiden one at a railway station. “We
generally pack our truck to move into the far-off villages where
people do not have access to digital move screening with Dolby sound.
We do four shows a day and the response here has been amazing,” he
claims.
Next destination
The digital theatre will be packed up here after Tuesday and move to
Kamareddy, Nizamabad and Basar stations.

sir, this informationvery usefull to all accessindian readers:
read carefully below

Lost your train ticket? Well, you don't need to worry as Indian
Railways' passengers can now get a duplicate train ticket on paying
some amount of charges. According to Indian Railways portal-
indianrail.gov.in, if the loss of confirmed/RAC ticket is reported
before the preparation of the reservation chart, a duplicate ticket
can be issued on collection of Rs. 50 per passenger for second and
sleeper class and Rs. 100 per passenger for other classes. However, if
the loss of confirmed ticket is reported after preparation of the
reservation chart, a duplicate ticket can be issued on collection of
50 per cent of the fare.
Here are 5 things to know:
1. If the ticket that is confirmed or RAC is torn or mutilated, a
duplicate ticket can be issued on collection of 25 per cent of the
fare, after the preparation of reservation chart. Before chart
preparation, charges are same as applicable for issue of duplicate
ticket in lieu of the lost/misplaced ticket.
2. No duplicate ticket can be issued in case of mutilated waitlisted
tickets, said Indian Railways.
3. Besides, refund is admissible on torn/mutilated ticket if its
genuineness and authenticity are verified on the basis of particulars
visible on the face of such a ticket.
4. No duplicate ticket can be prepared after preparation of
reservation chart in case of RAC tickets.
COMMENT
5. If the original ticket is found and presented along with duplicate
ticket, before the departure of the train, passenger is refunded the
amount paid for duplicate ticket, said Indian Railways. However, 5 per
cent of the total amount is deducted, subject to a minimum of Rs. 20.

Why it's important for you to learn about gradual vision loss

When Dr. K was asked to leave the university where he was a professor of
chemical engineering, he was heartbroken for several reasons. Chief among them
was his love for the job.

A Ph. D. From India’s premier Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi in a field
where doctoral degrees are as rare as well-asphalted city roads, Dr. K could do
many things, right from setting up a lab to reeling out theories and concepts
so dear to his heart and at the centre of his teaching profession.

It was not as if Dr. K had done something terrible for his sudden dismissal.
And even the varsity management that wouldn’t mind shedding crocodile tears
would agree that he didn’t deserve to be dismissed.

But he was shown the door anyway, because he completely lost his sight to a
genetic condition called retinitis Pigmentosa, a gradual vision loss condition
that triggers a slow death of the retinas.

I don't think that any private or PSU bank has open policy of not
providing basic banking facilities to VI customers, specially after
issuance of several guidelines from IBA, RBI, DFS, CCPD etc. Its the
ignorance/subjective attitude of branch officials which leads to such
incidents. I think you should write to customer grievance cell of Yes
bank, details of which can be obtained from their website.

2018-04-17 Thread gopala krishna
sir, what is your openian??regarding below given information??,
this information taken from 16/04/2018 finantial express.
read below:
IRCTC food prices slashed! Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto train meal
charges will come down from today, that is April 16.sir, this is
true??, and rejanable?? The Finance Ministry recently issued a
clarification that the GST (Goods and Services Tax) rate applicable on
food and drinks that is served to passengers on trains and even on
platforms and railway stations by IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and
Tourism Corporation) will be at a uniform 5%. Earlier, a tax rate of
18% was applicable. This 5% tax rate is applicable for all food and
beverage items that are sold by either IRCTC or Indian Railways and
their licensees. This 5% tax rate will be applicable without input tax
credit, the Finance Ministry has said. In this regard a letter was
also issued to the Railway Board. On all Mail/Express trains the 5%
tax rate became effective immediately since they offer food on a
post-paid basis. However, for premium train services like Shatabdi
Express, Rajdhani Express and Duronto trains, the revised rates come
into effect for advanced reservation period today.
This is because for Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto Express-type
trains, the catering services are pre-paid and in-built into the
Indian Railways train ticket fares. The revised rates for food and
drinks on Rajdhani, Duronto and Shatabdi Express-type trains are as
follows: breakfast will be for Rs 90 in 1st AC and Executive chair
cars, Rs 70 in 2nd AC, Ac-3 tier and Chair car and Rs 40 in Duronto
Sleeper. In 1st AC and Executive chair car, the evening tea where
dinner is served will be priced at Rs 45 and where dinner is not
served it will be at Rs 70. In 2nd AC, AC-3 tier and Chair car, the
evening tea will be for Rs 45 and in Duronto sleeper for Rs 20. The
lunch/dinner prices will range from Rs 75 to Rs 140 depending on the
type of train/coach. Combo meal prices will be at Rs 70 in all trains,
except Duronto where this is not applicable.
This 5% rate of GST is also applicable to meals and drinks on other
premium trains such as Gatimaan Express, Shivalik and Tejas Express.
The changes in food prices will be provided for these by the Zonal
Railways to CRIS.

will run on electrical locomotives instead of diesel. The move comes
after the electrification of the railway line between Bengaluru and
Mysuru, which was officially thrown open on March 19. Prime Minister
Narendra Modi had on February 20 formally inaugurated the
electrification of the rail line between the two cities.
The electrification will cut down costs, save time and also reduce pollution.
“By attaching the electrical locos at Mysuru itself, the extra time
required at Bengaluru for changing from diesel loco to electrical loco
will be avoided. Thereby it improves punctuality. Besides, the measure
will reduce air pollution and also result in cost effectiveness which
help the Railways to save crores of rupees annually for fuel,” stated
a press release from South Western Railway.
The electrification and traction change has been a long-standing
demand of commuters. Here is the list of the 12 trains:
 1. Train No. 22817, Howrah - Mysuru weekly Express journey commencing
on 23rd March, 2018 from Howrah.
2. Train No. 22818, Mysuru - Howrah weekly Express journey commencing
on 26th March, 2018 from KSR Bengaluru.

Hi friends.

A good news. I have been promoted from the Section Officer to the
Assistant Registrar. I am the first 100% visually challenged
Assistant Registrar in the University of Calicut. Ihad to get through
the departmental tests to get promotions and I wrote the tests with
the help of a scribe and this too was a first one in the Calicut
University's history. I have been directed to continue in the same
section, since the ddfs system, through the file movements are going
in this university is not at all accessible to a visually challenged
and they could not find any competent as well as interested person for
the work which me and my colleagues are doing now. (converting books

2018-02-15 Thread gopala krishna
sir, this information taken from deccanherald paper.
please read this happy news below.

BEML delivers the first intermediate Metro car unit for Namma Metro,
in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
The Union government's proposal for 'strategic stake sale' in Public
Sector Udertaking (PSU) Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has been
deferred.
"Efforts will be made to ensure that it won't happen,'' Union
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said here on Wednesday.
Speaking at an event organised for formal handover of intermediate
Metro cars to BMRCL, Kumar said he that has spoken to Defence Minister
Nirmala Sitharaman and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in this regard.
Noting that BEML plays a major role in defence sector as well as
indigenisation of key technology required for transport systems like
Metro and suburban rail, the minister said, "The finance minister has
agreed that BEML should continue as a public sector company."
Kumar said he would urge Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to award all
tenders for railway coaches to BEML.
"BEML's Bengaluru, KGF and Palakkad units should grow to become the
technology hub for making Metro and railway coaches in the country. I
will bring the railway minister for a visit to show him the company's
technological prowess," he said, requesting the Chief Managing
Director of BEML Deepak Kumar Hota to prepare a concept note in this
regard.
HAL airport
Kumar said he has held discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi,
Civil Aviation Minister Jayant Sinha as well as Chief Minister
Siddaramiah to turn HAL airport into Maintenance, Repair and
Overhauling (MRO) Centre.
"At present, our planes are going to the US, Singapore and other
foreign countries for MRO facilities. Being an aerospace technology
capital, Bengaluru should have such a facility. The HAL airport should
become a such a hub," he said.
