TDPO backup failing with ANS0236E error

2003-01-22 Thread Jozef Zatko
Hello guys,
I have a problem with Oracle backup with TDPO 2.2.1.

Environment:
TSM server 5.1.5.4 on AIX 5.1
Oracle 8.1.7
TDPO 2.2.1
TSM API client 4.2.1

The backup fails with following error (copy from RMAN backup log):

ORA-19511: ANS0236E (RC2032) On dsmInit, the owner is not allowed when
PASSWORDACCESS=generate.

In messages, I found this explanation to this error number:

ANS0236E On dsmInit, the owner is not allowed
when PASSWORDACCESS=generate.

Explanation: PASSWORDACCESS=generate
establishes a session with the current login user as the
owner.
System Action: The system returns to the calling
procedure.

User Response: When using
PASSWORDACCESS=generate, set clientOwnerNameP
to NULL.

Does somebody know what is the clientOwnerNameP and where I can set it to
NULL?

Re: Triggered dbbackup doesn't start immediately

2003-01-22 Thread PAC Brion Arnaud
Hi Paul,

Many thanks for your answer, it confirms my thoughts, but unfortunately
doesn't solve my problem : once again my server crashed tonight, with a
log of 7 GB and dbbackup trigger defined at 65 % ! The tape was mounted
in a minute but dump of the db on it has been hanging till the server
crashed, approx half an hour later ...
I have now defined an administrative schedule that initiates a db backup
in the middle of the night, but don't find it to be an "elegant"
solution :-(
If someone reading this has another idea, I'm taker !
Cheers.

Apparently, the BACKUP DB command does some pre processing now. Not
sure what. My system can take 3 to 5 minutes. I think what is
happening is some log commit logic is running for a while to try to
unpin as much of the log as possible, but that is just a guess. Then,
my backup starts. Mine are not triggered backups, they are scheduled to
occur before any significant processing starts.

Hi *SM'ers

I noticed an embarasting problem on our TSM server (4.2.3.1) : I defined
a Dbbackup trigger that should start a db backup as soon as our log
reaches 70 % . What happens is that I see the backup triggerered, but
that the effective copy on tape only starts approximativeley 20 -25
minutes later, sometimes leading to a server crash, due to log
saturation (actual log size
: 12 GB). As far as I know a DB backup has the highest priority, so how
can it be that it "waits" so long before proceeding ? More confusing,
Dbbackups initiated manually or per schedule do not behave the same way
: copy on tape starts immediately ...

01/20/03 15:09:18 ANR4552I Full database backup triggered; started as
process 340. 01/20/03 15:46:23 ANR4554I Backed up 48128 of 4159601

an explanation on what could be happening there ? Thanks in advance !

tsm device driver does not start on boot !

2003-01-22 Thread chris rees
Hi all

I'm implementing a new TSM server on win2k. Its attached to 2 3584 tape
libraries with 10 drives.

Server is at SP3
TSM Server is at 5.1.5.4
adsmscsi is at 5.1.5.8

The problem I'm getting is on reboot of the server. The TSM device driver
does not start, even though it is set to boot, which means the 3584
libraries can not be initialised. When I start the device driver manually it
comes up and the libraried are initialised. I do not have any problems with
the tape drives that are controlled by the native device drivers.

In the windows event log it shows the message that the Adsmscsi failed to
start with an event id of 7026.

Has anyone seen this before? Any thoughts?

Re: Journal Service Return Codes

2003-01-22 Thread Loon, E.J. van - SPLXM
Hi Nancy!
The return codes are Windows OS return codes. I found them some time ago in
a file that came with some Windows source coding. I think Microsoft has them
online somewhere too.
RC=5 means "access is denied" and RC=32 means "The process cannot access the
file because it is being used by another process".
The RC=5 is strange. If you are using an administrative account it should
have access to all files.

Antwort: tsm device driver does not start on boot !

2003-01-22 Thread Markus Veit
Hi Chris,
the library should be controlled by the TSM SCSI driver, the tape drives, if
they are LTO, should be controlled by the native drivers.
In the MMC right click on the properties of the tsm driver and move the library
to the left, to devices controlled by TSM, rebbot and all should be fine.

Markus,

Maybe I didn't make it clear in my first post, I already have the libraries
in the left hand pane as you suggest so they are being controlled by
adsmscsi. I still have the problem because the device driver is not
starting on boot.

DB2 backup problem

2003-01-22 Thread Lars Bebensee
Hi guys and girls,

we are running weekly offline backups of a DB2 database ver 7.1.0.65 EEE on
AIX. The server is a NSM at 4.1.6.0 and the clients at 3.7.2.0. The last
backup failed on one of the nodes showing lots of these entries in the
dsmerror.log:

sessInit: Starting communications initialization

Can someone explain to me what this means? I searched this list and found
this question being asked a couple of times but there was never an answer
to it.

The only hint I was able to find was in DB2's diag logs:

Hi Maria,

I have a client that has the same exact problem producing the same error
messages. We are running TSM B/A client 5.1.5.2, TDP for SQL 2.2.1.0
running on TSM server 5.1.6.0 on AIX 4.3.3.

I tried the suggested changes in the ADSM.ORG posting, but they do not work.
The messages are no doubt being generated by SQL server, and I originally
thought it was a memory leak issue, but I am just not sure. I have no other
clients with this problem, but have other clients running the same TSM
agents.

Any other suggestions the group might have are appreciated.

Automating the client install on a PC?

2003-01-22 Thread MC Matt Cooper (2838)
Hello,
I am trying to get the installation of TSM 5.1.5.2 to be totally
automated. THe silent install seems to be O.K. at putting all the files on
the PC. However, we are still trying to get to a point where a person does
not have to visit each PC to run through the CONFIGURATION process. Can
this be done? Is anyone doing it? How?
Second question:
If we have TSM client 5.1.0 on a PC and we want to upgrade it to 5.1.5.2
without having to visit the PC. If we do the uninstall and then the silent
install we are left with the above problem. Can we just install 5.1.5.2
over the top of 5.1.0 to keep the configuration information?

In order to backup the database _offline_, you need a super exclusive
connection to the database, thus no other client connections are
allowed. It seems there were another connections to the database during
the attempt of the offline backup. You have two options. a. run an
online backup and save the logs, b. before the scheduled offline backup,
force all client connections off the db. (db2 force application all)

Not so strange. Log onto a Windows box as a local or domain

I'm going to ask a stupid question. If you look at the properties of the
TSM device driver, do you have "Windows 2000 and optical support
enabled" checked? Turning this flag on enables the device driver to
start at boot, rather than starting it up once Windows is running.

NT exclude problem

2003-01-22 Thread Richard Foster
I have an NT server running SAP/Oracle. I am backing up the Oracle DB with
TDP for R3, and thus want to exclude these files from TSM incremental. I
cannot get it to work.

NT server v 4.0 with SP6
TSM client v 4.2.1.30
TSM server v4.2.2.7
running on AIX v 4.3.3

The book gives an example: Quote
Exclude all files and directories in any tmp directory that might exist
exclude ?:\...\tmp\...\*
Unquote

So I tried
exclude ?:\...\saparch\...\*

I have also tried
exclude *:\...\saparch\...\*
exclude *:\...\saparch\...\*.*
and in desperation
exclude f:\oracle\XXX\saparch\*
but each time, after the incremental, I have 15 active files registered in
the TSM DB from this directory.

Is it me, or is it a bug?

Re: Upcoming TSM server 5.1.6.1

TSM'rs,

Kathy Mitton over at Tivoli, passed on this note containing essential
information:

***
Some customers are currently experiencing a problem when they use the Web
administrative client or SQL to display information about a node. This may
result in a server crash. The problem will occur whenever tcp_name and/or
tcp_address are included in a request. Examples that will result in the
problem include:
expanding the Web administrative client to display information about
a node OR
   "select tcp_name,tcp_address from nodes" OR
   "select * from nodes"

This problem is being resolved with APAR PQ69516 and will be included in
Patch 5.1.6.1. The work-around to avoid this problem is to issue the
command line "q node f=d", which is available from the server console, the
administrative client, and the command line option on the Web
administrative client.

We regret the inconvenience this has caused.

Re: Journal Service Return Codes

2003-01-22 Thread Pete Tanenhaus
The error occurs when the journal daemon is processing a change
notification of an object and attempts to obtain
the object's timestamp.

The timestamp is obtained using the Win32 FindFirstFile api, which is the
programmatic equivalent of a user obtaining
the properties of the object in Windows explorer.

While it is unusual for a service running under the local system account
being denied access to an object it, it isn't
impossible.

A very restrictive security permission may be placed on the object (source
of the rc=5 Access Denied Error), or another process may
open the object exclusively for read, write, and property viewing (source
of the rc=32 sharing violation).

Each non-delete journal entry must contain the file system timestamp of the
object to maintain the integrity of the journal, which
is why an object which causes this error can't be added.

Hope this answers your question

The problem that I am having, is when trying to clean up filespaces, I found
that the logical drive E$ is showing a filespace of about 350GB at 91 Pct
Util. I have tried to delete the filespace in TSM, but it returns the next
day, same size.

Are the filespaces for diskpools handled specially? Am I missing something
here? Isn't the diskpool a dynamic pool? I migrate from it to tapepool twice
a day to zero it out anyway, why is it holding a 300GB filespace with the
logs only showing a 7MB backup? Am I reading q filespace wrong? I need to
remove/identify unneeded filespace because I am running out of room. The
system is not giving up any mountables so I can put scratch in.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark B.

Hi Everyone
I got a error last time I send this email. So I send it again. If you got
this email twice. I´m apologetic for this email.

Hi all TSM Gurus.
Tivoli have done anything about it after Veritas has buying Kernal Group.
In Sweden/Norway have we done some installation together with Tivoli System
and more enterprise companys (World wide companys) looking at the program
we are useing.
The program we are use is from a small company who is base in UK. Thay also
have a local office in Germany and Sweden (Where I work).
The name on the program is PC-BaX but we have rename it to CBMR (Cristie
Bare Metal Restore) and that is the only program who can run a full Bare
Metal Restore on a Citrix/Exchange/SQL and et c. without any
Repear/recovery mode. Accept Ghost. But Ghost don´t have support for RAID
systems that CBMR have. Even Kernal Group has problem with this kind of
system.
So if you searching for a BMR just get it a try and download it from www.
cristie.com.
If you need any help. Please email us on Cristie.

Did you restart the client scheduler after making the changes?

Did you include these specific 15 files before you excluded all files in the directory?

Do you have any include.dir lines in your option file? If you do, they
override all excludes, no matter what their placement.

If you want to see what TSM thinks should be included or excluded, run

dsmc q inclexcl

Re: Automating the client install on a PC?

2003-01-22 Thread Tim Williams
You can use Wise or SMS installed to automate your install.
Every 6 months to a year we will upgrade and configure about 22,000 nt/2k
machines 100% automatically.
For new installs, you can even have the script self register to a TSM server
and add itself into a schedule.
There should be no reason why you can't just overwrite your current version
of code with 5.1.5.2 unattended and without reboot.

Hello,
I am trying to get the installation of TSM 5.1.5.2 to be totally

I have an NT server running SAP/Oracle. I am backing up the Oracle DB with
TDP for R3, and thus want to exclude these files from TSM incremental. I
cannot get it to work.

NT server v 4.0 with SP6
TSM client v 4.2.1.30
TSM server v4.2.2.7
running on AIX v 4.3.3

The book gives an example: Quote
Exclude all files and directories in any tmp directory that might exist
exclude ?:\...\tmp\...\*
Unquote

So I tried
exclude ?:\...\saparch\...\*

I have also tried
exclude *:\...\saparch\...\*
exclude *:\...\saparch\...\*.*
and in desperation
exclude f:\oracle\XXX\saparch\*
but each time, after the incremental, I have 15 active files registered in
the TSM DB from this directory.

Is it me, or is it a bug?

Re: Tivoli/ Aix Upgrades

2003-01-22 Thread Davidson, Becky
If you are going to go from Aix 4.3.3 32bit to Aix 5.1 64bit then do Aix and
then Tivoli but you must do Tivoli before you do your first backup so
essentially at the same time. If you are going to go from Aix 4.3.3 32 bit
to Aix 5.1 32bit then you have flexibility and you can do it for the most
part in any order.

Dear Shekhar

Did u try genetrating password file with "tdpoconf passwd" ?? This could
be the possible
reason for not getting authenticated. Also use "tdpoconf showenv" to see
that all the
settings are correct. If u have already created password file, then run
that password
command again, and regeneate the password.

U could also try giving a new password to TDP

Tivoli pages will go down in some time.

TSM APARs are olready on IBM HomePages,
One way how to get there is :

-> select IBM Tivoli Storage Manager
-> select "Solutions"
and you will be presented a search page which includes APAR search.

You have to be registered to see this page,

All,
Thought I would pass this on as an FYI to thread. I got this email a few
days ago.

Geoff,
January 17, 2002 - The countdown continues. Tivoli.com will be turned off
in 14 days

Dear Valued Support Customer,

Over the past year, Tivoli support has migrated all content from the
Tivoli.com support Web site to the IBM Online Software Support site on
IBM.com (http://www.ibm.com/software/support/). The migration of support
content is now complete. The sunset date for all of www.Tivoli.com is now
set at 02/01/2003. See the marketing communications update on this event
at http://www.tivoli.com/migration/ for more details.

This sunset date for Tivoli.com has been extended to allow more time for
users to successfully register on IBM.com for support.

Tivoli.com support and marketing, will be replaced with web browser
re-directs on February 1, 2003

As part of this migration, all current support customers are required to
re-register on the new site. If you have not already re-registered, you
will need to complete this process. If you have been migrated to a
Passport Advantage agreement, please use the customer number assigned to
your PA contract. If you have not been migrated to a PA agreement, then
use your Tivoli ID and Password only when completing the maintenance
agreement section of the registration.

Customers will experience many benefits from the support migration,
including access to:
* A single IBM Web site for support information on all Software Group
products
* A personalization feature 'Mysupport' that allows you to customize
the information you receive when logged-on to IBM.com.
* 'Mysupport' now provides weekly email notifications, by product of
all alerts posted.

In response to some of the improvements requested in the last 30 days, we
are making the following changes:
* Publications are now available in a left navigation bar, called
Library. This web page, has a toggle link that allows you to group the
list of manuals in two different ways. One is 'Product Marketing View',
which is alphabetized and the other is 'Product Index View', which provides
grouping by Marketing category. We hope this meets your needs in
providing an easier method of locating your interests.
* The downloads documents are being improved to support HTTP downloads.
This work is not complete, but we are planning to have this available on
February 1st.You will continue to have FTP downloads as well.

Some key differences exist between the sites on how to access and view
content, and the site navigation. To help answer the common questions we
receive, a new area Web Site FAQ, has been created in the left navigation
bar and can be found at the URL
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/sysmgmt/products/support/Support_Site_FAQ.html

Thank you for your continued use of Tivoli products. We look forward to
continuing to serve your support needs in our new online home.

Re: Journal Service Return Codes

2003-01-22 Thread Nancy R. Brizuela
Pete, thanks for this detail. Then these files with rc=32 don't get
backed up until a full incremental is done? Or does the journal engine
keep trying and add the files to the journal when access becomes
available? If these files are never added to the journal, then it looks
like we need to resolve these errors or not use the journal engine. Is
this a correct assumption?

The error occurs when the journal daemon is processing a change
notification of an object and attempts to obtain the object's timestamp.

The timestamp is obtained using the Win32 FindFirstFile api, which is
the programmatic equivalent of a user obtaining the properties of the
object in Windows explorer.

While it is unusual for a service running under the local system account
being denied access to an object it, it isn't impossible.

A very restrictive security permission may be placed on the object
(source of the rc=5 Access Denied Error), or another process may open
the object exclusively for read, write, and property viewing (source of
the rc=32 sharing violation).

Each non-delete journal entry must contain the file system timestamp of
the object to maintain the integrity of the journal, which is why an
object which causes this error can't be added.

Hope this answers your question

Hi Nancy!
The return codes are Windows OS return codes. I found them some time ago
in a file that came with some Windows source coding. I think Microsoft
has them online somewhere too. RC=5 means "access is denied" and RC=32
means "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by
another process". The RC=5 is strange. If you are using an
administrative account it should have access to all files. Kindest

Re: extending archive retentions

2003-01-22 Thread Cook, Dwight E
NO but YES, sort of...
NO, you can't alter the management class (and thus the retention period) of
archived files

BUT you could do something like export the node (or as little data as
possible but still including the data you need)
then you could save those export tapes for 5 years...
When you import a node, you can request that is use "relative" dates, so
archived data will still be available for the same number of remaining days
as when it was exported. (that was about as clear as mud...)

Re: extending archive retentions

2003-01-22 Thread Miller, Ryan
Actually, you can't assign a different management class to an already performed
archive, but you CAN alter the management class retention period itself and
effectively alter the retention period for all archives that used that management
class, so there in lies the possible problem. If other archives have used this
management class, they will also be retained for the longer period. But if the number
of archives that have used this management class is low, this may be your best and
easiest solution. I have done that before to save myself considerable time and effort
when things like this need to be done. Once the 5 years is up, change the management
class retention time back and all will be normal again.

Have you actually tested that ?
My understanding (from long ago) was that internally, archives are/were
stored with an ~expires on date~ or ~expires after so many days~. A
~security~ feature... once an archive was created, that was it, no changing
it... because if you could extend a retention period, you could also shorten
it. (but then again, an admin with sys auth would just delete the
filespace)

I might have to test that...

Re: Journal Service Return Codes

2003-01-22 Thread Nancy R. Brizuela
All,

Ok, our Windows people say that most of our RC=32 access errors in the
journal service error log were triggered by files\folders on the PROFILE
drives. They believe that the errors may be caused by "roaming
profiles", a special mechanism where every time a user logs in, their
profile (files\folders) are copied to the local client. Upon logoff, the
profile is written back to server. While this special sync mechanism may
be the source of the problem, they have no method for changing the
mechanism. Is anyone having problems journaling roaming profile
storage?

Re: extending archive retentions

2003-01-22 Thread Miller, Ryan
Yep, I tested it over a weeks time, archiving data and changing the retention period,
it worked as designed. This can actually be found in TSM documentation, the doc is
not real clear about doing this, but if you break it down you can see it, the part
about the default(If you later change or replace the default management class, the
server uses the updated default management class to manage the archive copy)...here is
the doc that is from the TSM publications, the Server Guide.

Archive Copies
Archive copies are never rebound because each archive operation creates a different
archive copy. Archive copies remain bound to the management class name specified when
the user archived them.

If the management class to which an archive copy is bound no longer exists or no
longer contains an archive copy group, the server uses the default management class.
If you later change or replace the default management class, the server uses the
updated default management class to manage the archive copy.

If the default management class does not contain an archive copy group, the server
uses the archive retention grace period specified for the policy domain.

Why would you prefer exclude.dir '?:\oracle\...\saparch'
I think you may be assuming something that I've missed, and I need to
learn.
- Are the apostrophes significant?
- Why do you leave off the trailing backslash and asterisk?
- Is a ? better than a * as wildcard here (I know one's a single char and
the other's multiple, but here that shouldn't be significant)

Re: Journal Service Return Codes

2003-01-22 Thread Pete Tanenhaus
If the files in question are opened exclusively by another process (source
of Win32 rc 32) they can't be
backed up by Jbb or normal Incremental backup.

If normal (non-jbb) backup is working it is probably an issue having to do
with the user account running the backup
process.

By the default TSM services (include the Jbb service) always runs under the
local system account.

Interactive backup processes run under the currently logged in account.

One possible explanation is if the object in question is a non-local
(network) resource.

If this is case, the object can't be accessed by a process running under
the local system
account because this account has no network credentials.

The easiest method of fixing this problems is to configure the service to
run under an account
which does have network credentials and access to the resource in question.

Kindest

One of my users wants to be able to see what the timestamp on
a backed up file is without restoring the file. NOT the timestamp
of the time it was backed up but what the timestamp on the client
system was for that file when it was backed up.

Ex: backup was at 11pm last night and test.txt was backed up.
The timestamp of the file on the client at the time was 3:15pm.
Is there a sql select that shows this? I looked at tables some and
it was not obvious, found the timestamp of the backup time but
not the actual "attributes" of the backup file.

You shouldn't have to insert the password. If you use NWPFILE that will solve your
problem. We have over 100 NW 4.11 servers being backed up with the 4.2.2 and 4.2.3
client. The biggest problem that we had was a TSA problem. Downloading the newest TSA
from Novell (Which has a 4.x fix hidden in it) solved the problem.

This information is available from the GUI client. The display used to
select files to be restored shows both modified and accessed times for
backed up files. As far as I can tell, there is no way to get the same
information from the command line client.

I believe that only the client GUI can provide such info.
Certainly, the server administrator cannot obtain file attributes,
as that view of the TSM db is not provided to the server admin.

WOW ! thanks for pointing that out...
I went ahead and tested it on an AIX 4.3.3 TSM 4.2.2.0 server (with AIX tsm
client) and sure enough...
I archived a few files into a mgmtclass with 365 day retention
cut the retention down to 10 days for that management class
activated the policy
went back to the client & did my "q archive" again and they are ~reported~
to expire in just 10 days now...
then because I'm anal (and wanted to see if what was ~reported~ was to
be...), I set the host forward one month (more than 10 days but less than
365)
accepted the date in tsm & ran expire inventory... sure enough... the data
is NO MORE...

OK, now how many sleepless nights will I experience trying to figure out if

Re: select query question

2003-01-22 Thread Andrew Raibeck
Hi Jack,

The information is indeed stored in the database, but not exposed through
the SELECT or QUERY commands. The attributes are platform-specific, and
the server is not "aware" of the attribute structures for each platform.
To the server, they are just a "blob" of data.

Why, it's right there in the TSM db! ;-) We can't see it via Select
because that's a "fake" view of the database, revealing only a subset of
what's there, as the server administrator - by role definition - is not
to be concerned with such details.

I haven't used ODBC: is it the case that its view is likewise limited?

Re: select query question

2003-01-22 Thread Andrew Raibeck
Hi Richard,

The ODBC driver is really just a modified admin client that passes SELECT
statements from an application to the server, then passes the results from
the server back to the application. Thus the view of the TSM database is
the same whether you issue the SELECT via the ODBC driver or the admin
interface.

Re: NT restore to different hardware

2003-01-22 Thread Orville Lantto
This can be a tricky proposition due to "HAL" differences. There is some
guidance in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, but such Restores are not
supported by Microsoft.

The easiest, and most sure strategy is to reload the OS and applications
onto the new box and restore the data. If you insist on trying to do a
"Bare Metal Restore" onto new hardware, the basic strategy is to install a
temporary OS and TSM client into a different directory (Not WinNT
directory), restore everything from TSM, and then use the Win 2K recovery
console, or the NT 4 repair procedure, to fix the HAL components.

I advise my clients to go the "Just Restore the Data Route", because it is
has less risks and I feel results in a cleaner and more reliable server.

Hello,
Can anyone please provide me detailed instructions or point me towards
them to restore NT to different hardware. We are in the process of

particularly Windows NT, to a different hardware.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Re: NT exclude problem

It would be helpful to see the entire output from the 'q inclexcl'
command, not just part of a single line. It would also be interesting to
see the output from a selective backup of one of these files, i.e.:

   dsmc q inclexcl
   dsmc s c:\somedir\saparch\somefile.txt

And include the *entire* output in your post.

No, I don't have include.dir, only exclude and include statements.

I tried that. It showed what I expected. My * or ? had been changed to a
#,
which I took to be TSMs own wildcard.
#:\...\saparch\...\*
But it still didn't work.

Is there a way we can extend these retentions without having to retrieve and
re-archive these files?
If so, how?

Re: TSM offsite backups

2003-01-22 Thread Seay, Paul
This is exactly what we do.

Basically, you run two backup storage pool commands for each primary pool to
two different copy pools. Naming conventions become really important here
to help prevent mistakes and to use masks.

We call our pools like this:

DSK_Primary Disk Pool
TAPE_ Primary Tape Pool
CPY_ONSITE_ Onsite Copy
CPY_OFFSITE_Offsite Copy

There is a last qualifier used for all of the same of a pool. Remember, you
can rename storage pools.

In DRM you can specify a mask for the offsite pools if you want to use the
MOVE DRMEDIA command without specifying a storage pool. We have a lot of
elaborate code to do this process because we use closed box offsite storage
and manage moving the data on returning tapes to new tapes before they come
backup. We have recently, started using the location field to hold a lot of
information, such as the return date and issue a MOVE DRMEDIA command for
each tape rather than using "*". This way the location field in the drmedia
and volumes tables contains lots of information that can be reviewed. Based
on what I can determine the location field in the drmedia table is derived
from the location field in the volumes table. So, if you update the
location information in the volumes table it shows in the drmedia table. By
default the location field is derived from the value in DRMSTATUS as well as
the copy storage pool names.

There are many ways to implement DRM and everyone needs to decide what their
requirements are. Ours is a unique way.

Hi,

I need to start sending tapes offsite but I want to keep 2 sets of tapes
onsite and have another pool for offsite tapes.
I have the available tapes to use for the offsite pool. I have DRM
installed. Our TSM server is running Version 4.2 Level 1.9 , TSM B/A client
is 4.2 on AIX 4.3.3.
I just need some tips on how to get this going.

I can't rule out a H/W problem, but...I did upgrade to 5.1.6 and the problem
went away. How solid is the tsmscsi stuff in 5.1.5 for Linux?
