Does fry sauce have relish in it? The picture looked like it and the
ingredient list (despite the “Top Secret” on the front label) lists pickle
relish as the 2nd ingredient but no tomato products at all.

Well then the article that claimed it was identical to McD’s secret sauce lied
to me. If it has pickle relish, doesn’t that make it Thousand Island Dressing?

I suspect fry sauce came from seeing people at diners mixing ketchup and mayo
on their plate to dip their fries, and seeing a business opportunity. Let’s
bottle that and sell it as fry sauce! I only know fry sauce as something they
have at Arctic Circle. People here just use ketchup. Or … gasp … eat the
fries naked. And I guess there’s cheese fries. Not to mention cheesy tots.

A local eatery (Alice's Restaurant as it happens) serves sweet
potato fries as an alternative to plain fries, garlic fries, and
fried onion rings. They serve them with a brown-colored sauce that

Actually, the recipes that I’ve seen to make your own Thousand Island dressing
all have ketchup in them. Maybe that’s actually the “secret” that McD’s sauce
has vs Thousand Island is no ketchup?

I’ve never bought fry sauce but we do occasionally mix mayo and ketchup and
some of my kids love that but other’s not so much. I am going to get a bottle
of that stuff from Walmart if I ever see it there though (I maybe go to Walmart
once every few months) just to see if it’s close to Big Mac flavor. It would
interesting to put that on a burger that wasn’t a tiny little piece of gray
matter.

[AFMUG] OT PPE

2020-12-23 Thread Chuck McCown via AF
We provide our employees an orange vest and hard hat. We tell them they need
steel toed boots.
We don’t provide safety glasses.

Had a new guy work 7 hours and quit a couple of weeks ago. Today he calls and
claims an eye injury from mud during potholing. Threatening legal action,
called my wife a F.. C...

(He did not report the injury to anyone at the time. We are starting workers
compensation process just in case. Not sure he even went to the doctor).

I called him and we had an interesting conversation. He was on speaker phone,
Jenny was standing here, I recorded it. Was an asshole but I convinced him to
do the right thing. He apologized.

Pretty sure he did not want what was going to come next if he did not
apologize.

Do y’all provide safety glasses? I think we will start now. Potholing does
spray mud. And they are cheap.

I was fixin’ to go to jail a half hour ago. Fun day...--

Algo (https://www.algosolutions.com/) and CyberData
(https://www.cyberdata.net/collections/sip) are the go to brands for
paging equipment that is SIP compatible along with adapters.  Viking
Electronics (https://www.vikingelectronics.com/) does make a number of
items that make it easy to work with old paging systems.  I didn't look
at the manual, but the RAD-1A
(https://www.vikingelectronics.com//products/rad-1a/) from Viking is
probably what you are looking for paired with an ATA.

Depending on the layout and configuration of what you are working with
you can do certain things with a standard ATA (usually just FXS ports)
and certain things with an ATA with an FXO port (these usually have FXS
ports as well).

As far as Atheral goes... I won't support trying to jury rig an ATA into
these situations typically just because they can be finicky and I can't
see how someone is installing something.  Although some ATA
manufacturers have different terms for configurations that should do
what you want, in my experience they typically don't behave the way I'd
expect.  Algo, CyberData, and Viking make all of this stuff simple so it
is just better to go that route.

Re: [AFMUG] Old Phone Question

2020-12-23 Thread Chuck McCown via AF
If you configure an ATA that will actually draw dial tone from a POTS line,
then it will work with this paging adapter. I think that would be an FXS
config. FXO would give you dial tone from the ATA. Been a very long time
since I use the linksys/cisco spa products to extend dial tone over the
internet, but they seemed to work fine.

In utility pole world, those “sidewalk guys” are sometimes called Queen’s
posts, super common, very strong. They’re normally anchored with 5-6 foot
anchors you twist into the bottom of a hole and fill and compact with rocks.
All cheap and plentiful to buy. Same concept used to rig sailboat masts which
work just fine, even being anchored at multiple points up the mast like 20, 40
feet etc.

Most of that can be contained by just adding braces between the legs top

Eye protection is an employer responsibility.
Calling a mans wife those words mitigates all that.
If a random plane ticket were to show up here with a street address on a
piece of paper, he could have his eyes examined. It's best to get the whole
thing out so a guy can get a real good look at the entire eye. It's about
being thorough

I just discovered one of the team leaders tells all new hires where the safety
glasses are and to get some. He specifically remembers telling this guy to get
some. But we are making it part of the “onboarding” process. Adding it to the
paper they sign saying they got PPE.

It was satisfying getting him to knuckle under and apologize with just my
winning personality...

[AFMUG] OT - Spark Outrage

2020-12-23 Thread Ken Hohhof
Not trying to start a political discussion, but I went to look something up
and a news headline on the home page said "Trump Pardons Spark Outrage".

I guess my brain was worn down from all the day-before-a-holiday support
calls, but I probably spent a full 15 seconds trying to remember who this
guy Spark Outrage was, and why he needed a pardon. I thought maybe he was
an associate of Lev and Igor.

That would be a good name for an electrician in a graphic novel.

If you search for the origin of the traditional toast “here’s mud in your eye”,
there seem to be two competing explanations.

One is that it comes from horse racing, where all the jockeys except the leader
will get mud kicked in their eye.

The other is that it comes from Jesus curing a blind man by rubbing mud in his
eye.
