I have several ordered lists in a hierarchy, with each having a type= modifier.
The file was created outside of Writer. Upon opening the document in Writer,
Writer displays the list numbers (or types; the result of TYPE= in the LI
element) of the 'third' level incorrectly. The underlying html (viewed by
choosing menu item View | HTML Source) has not been changed by Writer; it still
says type=1 (version 2.0 used to change it to type=A!). HOWEVER, Writer *will*
change the TYPE=1 to TYPE=A when I do a save!!

Specifically, at the third list level, where TYPE=1, Writer displays it as if it
said TYPE=A. The source is similar to:
OL TYPE=I
  LIWill display I, II, III
  OL TYPE=A
LIWill display A, B, C
OL TYPE=1! In Writer, LI displays A, B, C! On 'save', TYPE=A gets
changed to TYPE=1. !
  LIShould display 1, 2, 3 in Writer, but does display A, B, C
/OL
  /OL
/OL

I have a small file that reproduces the problem, but I don't see where to
attach it.

Kay: do you have any insight on this?

I have just tried to run some tests in cppuhelper on PPC, and they all SIGSEGV
- e.g. testhelper, test_cfg
etc.

I can reproduce with 217, X11. Thus removing aqua keyword. I can provide test
environment (as for
amd64).

I have taken two screenshots of context menus - one from Ooo and the other from
Terminal. There are
several differences in them.

Compare the border on the right side - there is a black line. Looks like there
is some 3d-like border
around the OOo context menu...

Ismael: are you working on this too? Or is Eric working on context menu?

localized sort list often used in Japanese is not included in Calc.
Kanji besides English is used when exemplifying it on a day of the week.
And, localized sort list is desirable for japanese to be incorporated by
default.

I made only Japanese patch because I understood only Japanese.
However, it is very easy to add Sort List of other languages.
And, it might be significant for people of other languages, too.

The issue is about how it is impossible to import a say CSV file into Open
Office or for that matter any text based file. If I follow Help which says
Quote

Opening and Saving Text CSV Files
Comma Separated Values (CSV) is text file format that you can use to exchange
data from a database or a spreadsheet between applications. Each line in a Text
CSV file represents a record in the database, or a row in a spreadsheet. Each
field in a database record or cell in a spreadsheet row is usually separated by
a comma. However, you can use other characters to delimit a field, such as tab
or semicolon characters.
If the content of a field or cell contains a comma, the contents of the field or
cell must be enclosed by single quotes (') or double quotes ().

When you export a spreadsheet to CSV format, only the data on the current sheet
is saved. All other information, including formulae and formatting, is also
lost.

To Open a Text CSV file
1.Choose File - Open.
2.Locate the CSV file that you want to open.
If the file has a *.csv extension, select the file.
If the CSV file has another extension, select the file, and then select Text
CSV in the File type box
3.Click Open.
The Text Import dialogue opens.
4.Specify the options to divide the text in the file into columns.
You can preview the layout of the imported data at the bottom of the Text Import
dialogue.

If the CSV file uses a text delimiter character that is not listed in the Text
delimiter box, click in the box, and type the character.
unquote this will never work as Open Office sees ANYTHING based on text and
opens Open Office Writer.

To import a text based file into Open Office Calc you must use Insert Sheet
from the menu and what you should expect to happen is true and correct.

If there is any error to be found it is in help above, normally when you get to
the stage of opening a bug report the operator has NOT made an error.

The file Open currently performs the stated paragraph below as the way Open
Office makes decisions on what application in the range of apps by the file type
and extension is opened within the suite and is quite correct. However in this
instance opening a file in Write, for which write is capable of saving a file in
the same format as the original file being attempted to import into any part of
Open Office; will open the application that the files extension and nature is
determined. This is not a difficult concept. I trust that you have tested
importing a text file into calc as in the bug, using File, Open and it was
successful before blaming the operator?

Conclusion - Could you please amend importing of ANYTHING in the Open Office
help menu for errors such as this one.

Kind Regards

Scott ;-)

The statement below
quote
Irrespective of associating and extension to a particular application in OO the
OO application which will open is 'I believe determines
1. Is the application capable of saving the native files in a pre-defined
extension type.
AND
2. With the exception of a .CSV the application within 00 which CAN save that
file
type will execute

Looking at the presentation and information about Quick Look, it appears to be
more advanced than a
simple thumbnail of the first page. It appears that you can view the whole
document from within the
Finder, Spotlight, Time machine, or any other application that supports Quick
Look.

If everything goes well at least the problem with linked graphics will be solved
in 2.3. That should be the biggest problem. Once experience will have shown that
our approachs works well the plan is to extend it to other kinds of linked
content as well.

@zczc2311:
I imported hundreds of .csv and encoded text files with OOo 2 without any
problem, and the report does not sound plausible . May be your problem is
similar to to 23078? I will close this issue as WFM, because the statement ...
impossible to open .csv document with CALC is definitively wrong.

Pls. feel free to reopen this issue if you find out that the problem still is
present with a current stable OOo version (2.2.1 of later) and if you can
contribute additional information:

1. a sample .csv file that causes problems for you
2. a step by step information containing really every mouse click and every
key press, may be you should use report from Issue 58710 as an example

@hjs: The fourth option is possible but I am actually not so sure that the
fourth option is really viable. It takes large workload to modify related
projects and test build. So I think I would like to stick to the option two
for the time being and consider option four after the port is completed.

The ld linker is very slow if direct dll link is not used. Maybe it is
possible to use import libraries for the libraries that include version
numbers in their names only.

QTKit is just another way to implement Quicktime viewer, although better one,
if Cocoa can be used (although I was not at the WWDC, so what do I
know). Anyway. As this is a duplicate, nothing in here matters.

Can reproduce with OOo2.2.1 B 9161 Linux i86 RPM de_DE.

It is sufficient to open the attached document and to save it again, without
making any changes to it (i.e. File - Open; File - Save as - .doc).

screen_original_wv is a screenshot of the original document seen in the MS
Word Viewer.
screen_ooo_wv is a screenshot of the document saved without any changes 1 time
in OOo Writer as .doc, seen in the MS Word Viewer.

It seems as if the document contains nested tables, maybe this causes some of
the problems?

Confirming issue and leaving its prio to 2 as this might lead to data loss.

mbayer-andrew_w_oxford: Please consider to
- upgrade to latest stable release of OOo, 2.0.4 is not up-to-date
- demand forms in platform-independent file formats such as ODT or PDF from FoE
- print a hard-copy of the document with the MS Word Viewer (works under Wine).

I used to be an OOo lover and I often upgrade my OOo 2.3 beta series.

When I upgrade to m217 in my Panasonic's laptop computer, Windows XP became
having trouble with association to execute files (.exe).

I didn't believed that but when I tried installing m217 to my another PC, NEC's
desktop one, it cannot run Windows XP! The blue screen says Software
installation problem.

I'm sure there are no guarantee, but you have a duty not to spread m217's
EXTREMELY serious problem.

Well, I've checked all these features ; the problem stille remains.

But I've noticed somthing strange :

When I switch autocorrection to off, the following node is added in the file
Linguistic.xcu :

node oor:name=SpellChecking
  prop oor:name=IsSpellAuto oor:type=xs:boolean
   valuefalse/value
  /prop
 /node

So, my choice is registred.

But when I open a new document (or an existing one), autocorrection is activated
again. Then I close the document, and the node is no longer in Linguistic.xcu.

Seems like this file is replaced by the default one each time I open a document
in OOo (Writer or Calc at least).

Arch64 has been made following the Cross-LFS book standards wher no lib64 exists
at all.
We officially only support to build OOo with gnu-java/gcj. But for freedom of
choise we have found out how to use Sun jdk6. If you will not support x86_64
builds with libs in /lib + /usr/lib it's your choice.

The option you mentioned means that *spell checking* has been switched off.

Are you asking about *AutoCorrect* (Tools-AutoCorrect) as it says in the
summary line, or *spell checking* (the icon with the red underlined ABC in the
standard toolbar)?

I found this while chasing issue 78506. It seems that when a %-target is infered
the internal representation already gets a file date assigned even though the
target is not yet build. If this target is than used as a prerequisite for
another target that is started later it assumes that the prerequisite exists.
This is most likely to happen in parallel builds, because in a sequential build
an infered target is likely to be build immediately.

I don't have a reduced testcase, but it is easy to reproduce with
desktop/zipintro from SRC680_m216. The attached logfile was generated with:

$ rm -rf wntmsci10.pro zipintro/delzip; cd zipintro
$ dmake -vcdfimrw -m -P2

If one follows dev_intro.zip one sees:

...
dmake: Time stamp of [../wntmsci10.pro/bin/dev_intro.zip] is 0
...
e target 1182703364.140 last_target
dmake: Infering prerequisite(s) and recipe for

dmake: Trying prerequisite [../wntmsci10.pro/bin/dev_intro.zip] for

dmake: Time stamp of [ALLTAR] is 0
dmake: Time stamp of [../wntmsci10.pro/bin/dev_intro.zip] is 1182703364
...
... Oops!! It is not build yet and has a timestamp?!
...
dmake: Time stamp of [../wntmsci10.pro/bin/dev/intro.zip] is 0
dmake: Making [../wntmsci10.pro/bin/dev/intro.zip]
s target 1182703364.155 ../wntmsci10.pro/bin/dev/intro.zip
dmake: Updating [../wntmsci10.pro/bin/dev/intro.zip], (1182703364 0)
mkdir ../wntmsci10.pro/bin/dev/
cp ../wntmsci10.pro/bin/dev_intro.zip ../wntmsci10.pro/bin/dev/intro.zip

Boom!

This might actually be related to issue 69462.

It looks like we discovered a dmake bug here, see issue 78837 for details.

The previous patch works around this bug, it includes ause's first patch.

Can we get this in the next master?

pl added 3D effect for contextual menus, and this is maybe not a good idea to
have different look.

Philipp, what do you think ?

BTW : contextual menus are *not* welcome for UI on Mac OS X :

- too complicated for the user (lot of user don't think/know how to use them)
- useless, because they duplicate the information : nly one place for one
feature

er,
I have updated it with div() calls.
and I am not sure y i had given =1 for ScVar - we need to check (with var
description - probably its invalid for =1 values).
sqrt needs y =1 - ScStDev

Can you please review?

[xml-issues] [Issue 38849] DocBook export filter gene rates truncated file

mbayer-sus: I committed the changes you suggested to the TeX catalogue. Thanks
for you proposal!

This doesn't solve the fundamental problem described in this issue, though. I
therefore attach a new file with a minimal example to this issue. Its contents
will be truncated when the file is saved as DocBook/XML in OOo Writer: the 1st
section, starting with a heading 2, will be lost, making the document start with
the 2nd section, which starts with a heading 1. Hopefully, this makes this issue
easier to reproduce (and easier for others to understand).

While I understand that this has to do with DocBook's definition of sections,
that need to be well-nested, I still believe OOo Writer's DocBook export must
not be as lossy as it is. It should, at least, notify the user that some error
occurred, hence raising some suspicion about the resulting file, or stop
operation on the error, thus not producing any output at all. That way users at
least won't run into the danger of having an incomplete DocBook file without
being aware of it.

Please make sure you:
- downloaded OOo-Dev from a trustworthy source (i.e. from
http://download.openoffice.org/680/)
- checked the MD5 checksum of the downloaded file (must be
e2da97e148931322388e115ce466d9d6 for SRC680_m217 for Windows)
- controlled your system(s) with an up-to-date anti-virus tool.

So, please report here for further investigation:
- the exact location from which you downloaded your OOo-Dev (URL)
- the MD5SUM of the downloaded file.

Please note your issue is likely to be closed as WORKSFORME if it can't be
reproduced--and so far nobody else encountered a problem like yours with m217.
However, I adjusted summary and prio.

To recreate do the following:

Create a new Text document
Drop any control onto the document
Open the property editor for the control
Use Alt=Tab to display the icons for open windows, note that the icon for this
new text file is displayed.

Now from the Event tab of property editor open the Assign Action dialog for any
event.

Again use Alt-Tab, you will see that the icon for the current Text document has
disappeared. The only way to get back to this window now is to use your mouse.

This odd behavior happens in both 2.2.1 and 2.3m_216

Under all versions prior to 2.3 all formatting of the SQL statement is lost when
the query is saved and reopened.

Using version 2.3 if you edit your query with Open in SQl View formatting will
be retained, whether or not run SQL direct is true. If the user switches to
Design view however, all formatting is again lost, IMO that may be a trade off
acceptable to experienced database developers.

I will close the issue as fixed therefore.

CLU- the users comment about 'optimizing' was not about fitting the query to the
UI, it was, IMO, just a misunderstanding of what 'Escape Processing' is being
used for in Base.

Strangely, I encounter a severe typographical problem when exporting as PDF a

document that contains the default serif font Thorndale AMT.

To be exact, there occurs very bad kerning in the regular and bold-italics

typefaces. In the regular typeface, the 'o' and 'n' are much too close, and

the same holds for 't' and 'i' in the bold-italics typeface.

In Writer itself, there does not seem to be a problem. But after exporting to

PDF the problem is very apparent.

It does not even matter whether I enable pairkerning or not.

I wonder whatever can be the matter. Surely the font itself cannot be at

fault? I have been using it for quite a lot of text in the past and I never

had any problem with it. Then, after updating to OOo 2.2.0, I saw for the

first time an instance of bad kerning with Thorndale exported as PDF, in a

long text. I attributed this to some miscalculation and I did not pay much

attention to it because it was a single instance in a long text only.

I do use SUSE Linux 10.0 and I have set
LD_PRELOAD=$sd_inst/program/filter/libfreetype.so.6 in the soffice script in
order to make pairkerning work as per issue # 61023.

Of course, I will try to upload the corresponding ODF and PDF files.

I found the root cause for this, and probably issue 78837, issue 66751.

Currently an infered % prerequisite gets the time stamp of the target it was
infered for if it does not exist yet.

The following patch fixes this but I don't know yet what this is going to
break instead:

Unsure whether this is what the original reporter means - please confirm if not.

It seems however that when you create a HTML template (.oth), save, then reopen,
a new document is not created. What you end up with is reopening the same file
named XXX.oth ...

This is different than in writer. If you create a template (.ott), save and
reopen a new untitled document is created with the characteristics of the
template file.

Note: you need to enable support for Asian languages prior to viewing the tab's
mentioned by the poster.

I cannot reproduce. I do not have 'standard' option under the 'asian typography'
tab when modifying a style.

Can the OP please advise what Asian language has been enabled for this option to
be viewable...

Since this issue only seems to occur with OOo portable, I would suggest that the
user needs to raise the issue with the maintainer of that version of OOo. The
functionality works in the newest version of OOo.

Alternatively the user can wait for OOo portable to release a new version.

Issue closed.

Will close since there is no further information to hand and as per last
comments it is now not reproducible.

OP may reopen if this changes.

mbayer-millerp: Since when do we close issues upon mere guesses? And why can't
we wait not even 24 hrs. for user feedback before closing an issue? What sense
does it make to point a user to the English mailinglist, if he says his English
is very poor? And if there is a case, an issue is the right thing, not a
mail, isn't it?

mbayer-kwongue: If you still encounter your problem, please re-open this issue.
However, when you are in doubt whether you have a problem because the program is
defective, or just because you don't know *how* to do the job with OOo, please
ask on the users mailinglist for assistance. You'll find a list of francophone
lists on http://fr.openoffice.org/contact-forums.html .

Recovery works for me using 2.2.1 on winXP. Without specifics (eg, copy of
document that was being worked on when crash occured, or steps on how to
reproduce) will close this issue.

The OP can request reopen if either of the above can be provided.

Cannot reproduce using OOo2.2.1 on winXP.

If the problem still persists, then the OP will need to reopen case and supply
more information.
