>From link at openoffice.org, maybe OO 2.3 while install inherit plugins from
previous version - novell`s plugin probably was just inherited from previous OO.
I remember that i evaluate it some time ago but denied it because poor quality.
By the way since Novell without warning drop developing XForms plugin for IE i
not trust to Novell at all. Is Microsoft-sponsored odf-converter code can be
used for including in OO code?

I hope I'm wrong, but I suppose we've lost the best possible presentation mode
by updating the OOo from 2.2.1 to 2.3.

When I'm giving a presentation, I always have my screen split by
TwinViewOrientation so that in addition to what the audience sees (1024x768), I
can see my full desktop (1920x1200) in my one laptop screen. The "audience part"
is in left upper corner of the screen and it's handy to keep the things only you
can see around this public part.

In versions before OOo 2.3 activating the show caused the full presentation
appear to this "audience" part of the screen - like it should be. In OOo 2.3
there will appear only a fraction of the screen to the audience part - and
nothing else is shown.

I noticed the two real monitor's TwinView possibility to assign the presentation
to monitor 0 or 1, but this option is grayed out in this case I described -
naturally.

In Calc 2.3 there is a defect in Selection list. If I choose a range of cells
with time values than in selection list I can see only decimal numbers and not
time.
Example: Put in cells A1 7:00; A2 7:30; A3 8:00. For the cell B1 create the
selection list, in validity window choose Range of cells and source A1:A3.
In Calc 2.2 it worked fine.

This problem happens in all OO component programs I tried (Writer, Calc,
Impress). I am using Ubuntu 7.04 and have the "unclutter" program running,
which hides the cursor after a short delay, to get it out of the way. Unclutter
works properly with all programs I've seen so far except OO. OO seems to be
trying repeatedly to re-display the cursor, and as a result, the cursor appears
to flutter off and on quickly. This would be a minor annoyance except that the
CPU is also 100% loaded during the cursor fluttering. If I shake the mouse, a
solid cursor reappears in the OO window, and the CPU load goes away.

Sorry, but what fails?

I cannot deduct what you mean by:

When I try to run tcsh, I get an error saying "Badly placed ()'s".

What is the *excact* sequence of commands that you enter and in which shell?

Secondly, check your cygwin installation. This:

gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `as': No such file or directory

looks like you are missing some more packages or there is a problem with your
installation. "as" is part of binutils and a dependency to gcc, so it should be
there. Start cygwin's setup to add the missing packages.

You can also use `cygcheck -c` to see if you have broken packages and you should
reinstall them if that is the case.

Oh, and by the way, please do not open issues for build problems, write to the
mailing lists and ask for help or guidance. As I said before,
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
would be the right one.

Please reopen this issue if it really turns out to be a real problem with the
openoffice build environment.

Hi!

I have the same problem with brazilian portuguese documents saved in DOC format
in OpenOffice.org/BrOffice.org 2.3.0. I proposed a new version of aronchi's
patch with portuguese (and brazilian portuguese) language.

I think this is a solution for spanish language too.

When starting ooffice on a document specified on the command line, occasionally
the fvwm window manager switches mouse-tracking to a very sampling rate and does
not respond to any click anywhere on the screen. The "fix" is to reboot.

This seems like the problem that the ooffice readme warns of: "often caused by
the graphics card driver". My sysadmin says:

>You have a reasonably up to date kernel and Xorg driver for
>your ATI Radeon VE/7000 QY video driver.
>The RPM name is xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.6.3-1 -- see
>/var/log/Xorg.0.log for all the details.

The OS is:
Linux version 2.6.22.7-57.fc6 ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc
version 4.1.2 20070626 (Red Hat 4.1.2-13)) #1 SMP Fri Sep 21 20:23:24 EDT 2007

It seems the trouble may happen when I dismiss the pop-up style palette at the
same time the document is appearing on the screen--but this is grasping at
straws.

Does the finger seem to point at the driver? If so are there any confirming
tests I might try, such as trying some non-ooffice application known to be
similarly sensitive?

Reproducibility: Always

Steps to reproduce:
1. Load Impress such that it immediately starts displaying a slideshow:
   $ ooimpress -norestore -show /home/psy/Litfass/Litfass.odp
2. Wait for approximately 972 minutes.

Observed behaviour:
3. Impress crashes. (I don't get any crash handler, but maybe that's because
the crash handler isn't included in SUSE RPMs.)

(In case you're wondering why anyone would run a presentation for 972 minutes,
we loop one in a shopfront window to advertise upcoming events to the public. I
expect this is not an unheard-of use for presentation software.)

Can't open 2 files with same name (different extensions). I have a word format
and odf format resume that I wanted to look at. I noted an issue in the export
function and wanted to fix it by hand inside Writer. But if I have the ODF
version open the title says "Resume". And if I try to open the resume.doc file
it just makes the existing "Resume" window flash. It doesn't actually open the
other file, but seems to just make the current window think it was updated. I'm
sure it is still showing the ODF version as the formatting issue isn't there.

I'm guessing this is because you're tracking the files using only the portion of
the name that doesn't include the extension. The easiest fix I see is to
include the extension instead. Not sure of other problems that might introduce
though.

I was just typing a document in Writer with the spelling checker turned on and I
found that one word I used frequently was underlined with a nice red curly line,
namely 'Fukuyama'. However, I had used that word already five times and five
times I had written this word correctly.

I think it would be a nice idea if OOo would check the malspelled words
(according to the spelling checker) and if the same word is used more than a few
times (five would be a nice number) in the same document, automatically add it
to the custom word list or set the 'ignore all' flag for that word. Perhaps ask
this pro-actively to the user when the spelling checker is turned on? Since, why
would I repetively type a wrong word the same way?

One more thing -- when not in dual-head mode I am able to open the presentation
- start the presentation and then use alt-tab to see if the 'main' window and
'presentation' window are shown in the window list / task bar. They are. So it
appears to be a dual-head/ooimpress issue.

It doesn't matter which distribution (tried Ubuntu and Fedora) nor does it
matter what window manager (tried GNOME and KDE).

Thanks.

With OpenOffice 2.0.3 our organization could run up to 4 different presentations
in different desktops without problems. We have a dual-head setup. Each
presentation would be open on a separate desktop. Each desktop would have the
'main' window and the 'presentation' window on separate screens. Now - with the
option to assign the presentation to a screen we can no longer run multiple
presentations at the same time. We can open them on separate desktops but the
first 'presentation' window will be the only one to be displayed on the second
head. In OpenOffice 2.0.3 we would see entries in the window list / task bar
for both the 'main' window and the 'presentation' window. Now - with 2.3 we
only see entries for the 'main' window and the 'presentation' window does not
show up in the window list / task bar. We would love to have the ability to
once again run multiple presentations at the same time on separate desktops and
to have the windows on those desktops be displayed like before.

I have a single line with 3 items. I want them roughly left, center and right.
To do this I add two tab stops, one in the center (a left tab) and one on the
far right (a right tab...the side of the text the tab location appears on).
When I export I get 4 tabs. With two in the correct locations, but 2 more that
shouldn't be there.

This is confirmed looking at the exported file in MS's free Word 2003 viewer and
OO. It happens even with 1 of the lines, but I included 2 just in case. The
formatting looks correct in one of the exported lines, but it is just because
the text is past the incorrect tab stops.

I'll try to attach the two files, but it isn't immediately obvious to me how to
do that.

For you it only happens with custom sizes? That's odd. I noticed it for the
first time with one of the built-in envelope sizes and have since reproduced
it for most of the sizes smaller than A4 (i.e. those that will actually fit in
my printer), including custom size at various widths.
As I said before, it only appeared to happen in OOo. Microsoft Word (the
closest I have to Writer) prints all papersizes just fine. Most programs don't
support as wide a range of papersizes as Word or Writer, but those that they
support print fine.
To rule out a corrupt or buggy driver I have just tried it with the driver for
a similar HP printer: the LaserJet 1100, which also expects its paper to be
centered in the tray, if I'm not mistaken. Same effect, it prints just the
same as with the correct driver, both in Word and in Writer.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. So to type something like:

K(sub D)(super 2)R (super 2) I would have to type KD2R2 and highlight the D,
press ctrl+shift+b then highlight the 2s and press ctrl+shift+p? I can't type it
in character by character as I read it off of something?

Thanks for the help.

At least it worked for odt- and sxw-files.
For ods I had to tune manually.
Unfortunately even by using kcontrol I'm not able to tell krusader it shall open
xls,rtf,doc-files with swriter ‒ really strange. It still says „KDEInit kann
/opt/openoffice.org2.2/program/swriter nicht starten.“.

This is because I do not build the mozilla stuff in my build environment,
because I didn't get it to work in my first tries.

>From the makefile in xmlsecurity/util:

No mozilla -> no nss -> no libxmlsec -> no xmlsecurity...

and the xmlsecurity components provides the functionality. This has nothing to
do with my changes (python is never loaded otw to the options dialog).

@jsk: I resolve the issue to invalid. If you still want to see the functionality
in the installation sets, reassign the ticket to me as new, then I will dig into
my build env again to make this work (but don't know yet, how long this will
take).

Bye,

Joerg

Please attach the jpg you're talking about.
-> I can't, private pic. Just try with any jpg on your system.

Which shape are you using.
-> Checked with rectangle and ellipse.
-> Note that I tried again with the same pic as yesterday and the file increases
just about the jpg size ! So I tried with a new jpg and the issue reappeared. It
seems that it depends if the bitmap had already been imported before or not. I
tried to close OOo (no quickstarter) and to do it again and same issue. Perhaps
OOo needs to get some rest before handling new files !

Which version (build number)?
-> Don't know. It's the one downloaded from OOo web site, 2.3 final en-US
version, RPMs converted with alien (with French language pack). Provide this
information in the Help dialog and I'll tell you.

Just create a new Draw document. When you add a snap line (by dragging from any
of the rulers) the save button (and its corresponding menu entry in "File") is
not activated. Same situation with a document containing some data and that it
was just saved previously. The edition of snap lines is just not recognized as a
modification to the data. However, the snap lines are indeed stored as part of
the file.

Modifications to snap lines should be treated as any other modification. This is
particularly true for documents where the snap lines are very important, such as
posters or pamphlets.

Issue easily repeatable. Tested with OO 2.3 (i586) under CentOS5 x64 and
Windows XP.

Thank you.

Sam

Well, if it is a feature to allow smart tags in online help, shouldn't the smart
tag component be unable to change the text of the help? I tested it with a
component that replaces the original text of the smart tag with other text, and
it did replace it on the help file text. Although changes are not stored,
because the Help is read-only, the text gets changed by the smart tags
component.

I have not experienced this in any other Open Office component, nor in any
other application. Only in the OpenOffice.org equation editor have I
experienced this random re-positioning of the cursor.

I am not aware of any other applications which could be contriubting to this.
At times I may have my web browser (Opera), my IM client (Pidgin), or my e-mail
client (Pegasus) open at the same time, but this would not be unique to the
equation editor, nor particularly to the OpenOffice.org suite.

We've got two "lingucomponent" in OOo CVS repository.

One is a top level project, one is a subproject of whiteboard. Alle the relevant
stuff is in "whiteboard/lingucomponent", and accordingly we got an alias
"lingucomponent" which points to "whiteboard/lingucomponent".

Now we got the following situation:

"cvs co -r lingucomponent" will checkout
"whiteboard/lingucomponent" as it is supposed to do.

But checking out single files does something surprising:
"cvs co -r lingucomponent/prj/build.lst" will take build.lst from the top
level project and not "whiteboard/lingucomponent/prj/build.lst"

The reason for this is, that someone accidentally committed some files to the
top level project on Apr. 27, 2003. These files need to be removed so that
single file checkout works for lingucomponent.

Please remove the subdirectories "lingucomponent/source" and
"lingucomponent/prj" from the *top-level* project lingucomponent. All files in
these directories and the sub-directories should be from Apr. 27, 2003,
committed by khendriks. These files were never used, anyway. The subdirectory
"lingucomponent/www" is still needed, of course.

It is a funny thing that this is only possible when the file is saved.
Sometimes you haven't saved it yet and wan't to know how it looks like, then
it's annoying that you can't click on it.

I tried to create a document about the same size, but I cannot reproduce the
problem. However I have at least 2 documents which are producing this problem
which have been created with an older version of OO. So it could be happening
only with old documents ODT files. I cannot attach any of these faulty documents
because of their sensitive content. Should I manage to find a suitable one, I
will attach it to this ticket. Thanks.

Dutch version (Installed a the dutch language pack on Windows Vista) shows the
imperfection partly fixed. It now reads paginax / y, this is still pretty
annoying. And in Writer I came along another dialog box where are missing
spaces (version dialog).

@pmladek: I think we should apply this patch. Since I can't test PPC/Linux it
wouldn't be that helpful if I apply this one to one of my CWSs. Can you create a
CWS? Pavel can you QA this change?

Reassign to pmladek: please proceed if the PPC/Linux community approves.

Interesting questions lead to more interesting answers:
Yes, I've reproduced it both in Calc and Draw, but now it becomes weird:
The file apparently gets the OpenOffice type extension, but the Draw file
couldn't be opened. Only when I gave it the extensions (file rename) that I
initially chose, could the file be opened. So it's non-OpenOffice file format,
but with an OpenOffice extension. For Calc the file formats are probably too
much alike, because that opens without a rename.

It may very well be a bug in Microsofts FileDialog, which I've also seen happen
on Paint Shop Pro 5 (yes, ancient): it would save a file as the extension that
is in the filename edit box, but with the filetype of the filetype selector.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

- please open this attachement:
http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/issues/showattachment.cgi/10635/directory-has-to-be-updated-twice.zip

- right-click the table of contents (toc):
The context menu for tables is shown instead the one for TOCs.

If you want for example to update the toc, you have to go the circumstantial way
via the Navigator.

You know, that the references in a formula are relative to the address, where
you use the formula, unless you set a $ to make it absolute. What happens now?
If you move your mouse down to select b3:b13 the active cell will be b13. If you
now use the formula $f3>=$f$13 it is relative to b13. When OOo enters the
formula to the cell b12, that part in the formula, which is still relative will
be changed. Cell b12 gets the formula $f2>=$f$13 and so on. Cell b11 gets
formula $f1>=$f$13 and b10 gets formula $f0>=$f$13. But a row 0 doesn't exist
and you get the #REF! error.

When you enter the formula you must write it in that way, that it fits to the
active cell.

I haven't installed 2.3 yet. But I just openned re.sxw with my 2.2.1 version

observation, last July, that the problem seemed to be solved. It's still there

The X11 version needs to be quit by closing the OpenOffice.org window inside
X11, or by doing "file" >
"quit" from within the OpenOffice.org inside the X11 app.

Once the soffice.bin process is no longer running, the OpenOffice.org droplet

Hello Niklas, as discussed, let us take the entry out of the view menu. The user
has furthermore the opportunity to switch off columns and row headers via Tools
/Options / OpenOffice.org Calc /View. As long as that function is not used so
frequently then others and no undo is available to help out of an accidentally
switch off, this way should work.

Motivation
Since Wiki uses a title of a page as a part of URL for the page,
the URL could be descriptive if the title was comprehensible.

The URL, however, could be problematic in the certain conditions:
 - The length of URL could be too long beyond normal width of e-mail. [1]
 - To avoid a long URL, some people name a title with few words. [2]
 - A title with non-ASCII characters makes a cryptic URL. [3]

[1]
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/OOoAuthors_User_Manual/Writer_Guide/Creating_one_file_from_a_master_document_and_its_subdocuments
Too long!

[2] http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Deadlines
A deadline for what?

[3]
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/OpenOffice.org%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC%E3%83%A6%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B6%E3%83%BC%E4%BC%9A
What does that mean?

See titles of the pages in the Wiki
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/mwiki/index.php?title=Special%3AAllpages&from=&namespace=0

Solution
There might be many solutions. One of them is a shortcut.
With use of shortcut, the URLs listed above would turn to be:
[1] http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/?shortcut=xx
[2] http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/?shortcut=yy
[3] http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/?shortcut=zz

[1] The length of URL can fit to that of e-mail.
[2] If the real URL is better than its shortcut one, simply use it.
[3] Since a URL with %xx notation is not descriptive from the
beginning, a shortcut URL could be better than the original one.

Sample Implementation
Real URL:
http://openoffice-ja.org/wiki/%E3%82%A8%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B9%E3%83%86%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A7%E3%83%B3/Sun_Report_Builder
Shortcut: http://openoffice-ja.org/wiki/?shortcut=8380c4

Look at the top of the page, a shortcut URL of the page is printed.
A user can copy the shortcut URL and paste it in his e-mail.
Accessing to the shortcut URL, a recipient will see its real page.

Sample Source Code
I would like to directly send a source code of the sample implementation
to the person who would be assigned to this issue for security reasons.

Sorry for my bad english !

My objective was to apply a green background into cells with a conditional
format.

Here are the steps to reproduce unknown references from Calc :
- Select a bloc of cells from up to down : for example b3:e11
- Make a conditional format, for example : choose "Formula is", and in the
formula field "$f3>=$f$13" /style "vert". Validate.

Formatting doesn't work !

Why ?
Because if you look at the conditional format of the cell b3 (for example),
Calc has translated by a reference of type $F#REF !>=$F$13

Thanks

FL->NN: Default for sorting via Sort dialog has changed to included formats by
default. Therefore sorting via button has to include formats as well. Calc UX
candidate for 2.4?

OO2.3 again installs (rpm) to a path openoffice.org2.3 beside openoffice.org2.2
and then deletes the folder openoffice.org2.2 without to ask about this.
I think it should ask.

Main problem is the change in the path, because links (e.g. on desktop) don't
work no more.

I wonder that file-type-preferences in kde, krusader, ... are updated - this is
better than formerly, when they were „killed“.
