Important notes:

I have had one other person reproduce my error.
I am running Intel Mac 10.4.10 Tiger OS.

I will make the problem clear.

You know that the spellchecker box, while it is going through a document will
fit a specific amount of sentences in its box right? That's because the
spellchecker box can't fit the whole document in its box at once or at least it
doesn't do that...

What happens is that whenever spellchecker moves to a NEW set, then I can't undo
to the word in the PREVIOUS set, but if I am in the SAME set, i can undo to the
words in THAT SAME set.
So let's say the word I want to undo is in currently in that same SET that
spellchecker is going through at THAT specific moment, then undoing to previous
word will work. But let's say that suddenly I click Ignore/Chance/Whatever, and
the spellchecker moves on to a net SET of sentences, and I want to undo to the
PREVIOUS set of sentences, because the word I want to undo was in the previous
set, then it just does not work.
It's almost like saying for example, that Spell checker checks spelling
paragraph by paragraph, let's say suddenly I want to move to a word thats in the
previous paragraph, spellchecker just can't undo to that previous paragraph Set.

No, I don't plan to stop supporting guw.exe, I think we will need it at certain
points. My current CWS nowrapcmd1 (see issue 82202) plans to remove the
$(WRAPCMD) macro/variable and use mixed paths (c:/foo/bar style) whenever
possible. (Have a look at the .WINPATH attribute in dmake 4.11 and newer)
This way we can even remove a lot of special cases from guw again and make it
easier to maintain.

And, yes, it's a shame that the mixed mode handling in make is fixed in the
current CVS version of make, but that no new (g)make was released yet.

P.S.: If we want to avoid hardcoding of guw.exe we should already think about
a successor variable for WRAPCMD, that is unconditionally set in winenv.* and
always points to guw.exe. Maybe $GUWCMD ?

Currently the result of $(mktmp ..) is not aware of the .WINPATH setting
for cygwin dmakes.

In addition to this the value of TMPDIR is used without verifying if that
directory exists and is uasable - at the moment this allows to force mktmp
to output DOS paths on by setting TMPDIR to a DOS path. This should be fixed.

@vg: I have checked the cws and found that neon/neon.patch is not well
synchronized to m237 and should cause trouble in merging. I will upload the
one based on m237 itself instead of the patch on patch.

I will also upload the patch to canvas and external to cope with the new
support of DirectX and the incremental patch to solenv/bin/deliver.pl to
remedy the problem with inappropriate stripping of dbghelp.dll and
xmergesync.dll.

The new project openssl also needs modification. I am ready with the modified
openssl/makefile.mk and the new file openssl/opensslmingw.patch to be added.
There is a problem that the makefile has a severe build breaking problems and
will be fixed soon in cws openssl01. I will upload the patch to the version in
the cws but it may be better to wait until the cws openssl01 get merged.

Regarding to the modifications to cope with the cygwin's GNU make 3.8.1, I
understand your comment. My concern is that the strategy is to use cygwin's
posix format path like '/cygdrive/x/...' wherever we face problems and use
a 'wrapper' with commands. As mozilla has their own wrapper it is OK, but for
other projects I am relying on OOo's wrapper guw.exe, which Volker is planning
to stop supporting and remove.
We can think about it later.

After I installed OOo 2.3 (russian version) on windows 2000 system, it created
some registry keys improperly. Here they are (regedit export format)

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software/OpenOffice.org/OpenOffice.org 2.3/ShellNew]
"soffice.odg"="1"
"soffice.odt"="1"
"soffice.ods"="1"
"soffice.odp"="1"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software/OpenOffice.org/OpenOffice.org 2.3/StartMenu]
"sbase.exe"="1"
"simpress.exe"="1"
"swriter.exe"="1"
"scalc.exe"="1"
"sdraw.exe"="1"
"smath.exe"="1"

notice that after 'Software' there are slashes instead of backslashes.

So, if I try to start OOo Base, Calc, Writer or other application from windows
menu Start-programs-... , I see just message "file not found"
Also, I don't have "new calc document" and other items when I'm creating a file
from windows Explorer menu.

The solution is to change slashes in installer part so that registry entries
will go to the proper place.

what I tried to do was to underline everything upto (including) the first colon
of each paragraph.
^.[^:]*:   replace with  &
with the correct format shoud do it, don't you think?
and it does. but only with "replace". "replace all" also finds the text after
the first colon to the next colon if there is one and to the next and so on and
so forth.
have i made myself clear? (I am german) I'l just try again.

When I use "^.[^:]*:" replace with "*:"
on the line

test:test:test:"replace" *:test:test:
but
test:test:test: "replace all"*:*:*:

and the workaround is either use "replace" as often as necessary
or first "find all" and then "replace"

Can you add the possibility to include the correlation coefficient
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearson_product-moment_correlation_coefficient)
into a diagram when the user select the linear regression? Something similar to
"show R^2 coefficient" in Microsoft Excel.
It would be very useful!
Thanks.

When editing the Master Slide of a presentation, the formatting changes made to
the master slide are not applied after applying them.

When I went to [View > Master > Slide Master] and clicked on the title textbox
of the master slide to select the textbox itself, I then went to [Format >
Area...] and under the [Area] tab, I selected "Color" and then I selected the
color I wanted. After confirming my selection, the changes were not applied to
the master slide. This issue is not only with the title textbox. When
attempting to change the formatting of the bullet points on the master slide in
the main textbox, applying formatting changes yielded no results. This problem
occurs when attempting to change the fill color, font, and the bullet
formatting, from my experience-- but it may extend further to other types of
formatting.

When I select the "heading" format option, type a heading and hit return, the
format automatically changes to "text body" (as it should), however, if I move
the cursor to the begging of the heading and hit return, the previous line
retains the heading format and subsequently typed text at that location will
have the same heading format. I suggest that hitting return with the cursor at
the beginning of a heading should function in the same way as with the cursor
located after the heading (i.e. changing the previous line back to "text body"
format).

fs->bh:
1. using ab .odg as attachment which only contains a png is somewhat oversized,
don't you think? Why not attaching the mere png instead?
2. attaching an .odg which contains the *link* to the png only, with a reference
to your local file system, makes the complete attachment useless :)

Care to correct this? Thanks :)

had a look again:

there's no occurance of TEMP/TEMP in configure (except one unrelated place). Now
let's look at set_soenv.in:

set_soenv.in: $UPD, $SOLARUPD, $WORK_STAMP, $TF_UCB,
set_soenv.in: $USE_DIRECTX5, $ATL_LIB, $ATL_INCLUDE, $MFC_LIB, $MFC_INCLUDE,
$NO_HIDS, $TEMP,

Hmm. Ok. $TEMP is unset, but Issue 83901 is about TMP. Not related

set_soenv.in:{  ToFile( "TEMP",  $TEMP,  "e" );
set_soenv.in:   ToFile( "TMP",   $TEMP,  "e" );

Aha. That sounds related. Ok, so $TEMP is not set in the env, so nothing is set
for both TMP and TEMP. Should the second one maybe be TMP? ;-)
[ I seem to have been tired at my first try... ]

vg asked me some days when Issue 83414 would be fixed. For the record, here my
reply (I agreee that the TMP change is completely bogus):

Wanna know the truth? I think this check is *COMPLETELY NONSENSE*. (And
AFAIS Rüdiger and Pavel do, too). (CCed)

Do you also patch any app out there to not set sane defaults for TMP but
require the user to set TMP and not working otherwise?
Or do you just override the envvar and the app will honour that you
want it something else?

The solution would be: restore the build tools old behaviour and let
people override it via envvar (yes, this works) when they want it
somwehere else?

> got problems with build bots - the build tool just refuses to work further

Wheee. Well, you broke it. Even with 83414 "fixed" you still would have
the same problem as this issue ist just about "do not unset TMP/TEMP".
Not setting tmp to something. And even if that worked (see my try ...)
you *STILL* would not have TMP/TEMP set in the env. Plain Debian:

$ env | grep TMP
$ env | grep TEMP
$

What do you expect me to do? Hardcode TMP/TEMP to /tmp? What should I
harcode it for Windows then? Or Mac OS? Or OS/2?

Yes. You should revert to something sane.

Regards,

Rene
--- snip --

vg: and your claim that configure unsets TMP is *wrong*. See comment #4 in Issue
83414. Even if we now changed this to TMP in the second line, the stuff will
still be not set because (see above) T(E)MP is not normally defined in a system.
And hardcoding it to /tmp or c:\temp or whatever is even more bogus.

Please have a look at the current version of OOo. Now you can define a border by
setting the line style. Does this solve your requirement?

Ok. Then I guess it was just my inability to figure out how to cope with the
encoding. I hope my "bugreport" at least helps somebody else to understand the
issue.

But could you also answer me, how can I change the encoding in OOo Writer as the
above attached UTF-8 encoded MediaWiki export file isn't displayed correctly in

cws beppec56pdf1b adds a new header to vcl:

vcl inc/vcl/sRGB-IEC61966-2.1.hxx   1.2 beppec56i59651

which is bascially a binary-only blob and therefore a binary-only file (strictly
speaking) and therefore a P1 (as discussed in HH).

Issue 81093 talks about this and even has a clean solution which is blocked by
Sun approval...

This *has* to be fixed asap.

With implementing issue 80528 the GraphicDraft-tool is lost, which you could use
to see the path of the linked picture. Therefore this issue becomes more
important.

See also the similar issue 15683, issue 20915 and issue 35650.

... and be also prepared this will not be the only things. There will most
probably security stuff in openssl after 2.4 and the disclosure of them will not
wait for some "random" app happening to include openssl in the tree. So you'll
have a OOo with a known security buggy openssl (unless you release a patch for
each openssl security thing)

This issue is also for Impress. With implementing issue 80528 the draft modus is
completely lost. But such a draft modus is still useful. In this modus for all
texts, filled objects, and pictures only small border lines are shown and the
rest is transparent. So you can easily see the real size of text boxes and
outlines, or you can see whether a picture hides another object, for example.
You should be able to move and snap the objects as in normal mode. It would be
nice to be able to print in this draft mode, for to control the positions of the
objects without wasting ink.

There is no need to have such a mode separately for each object and no need to
have this as setting in tools > options. I wish an easy access with an on/off
symbol in the toolbar "Options".

What is a pity is that such a change breaks building for all builders, breaks
building on tinderbox, etc and causes much problems that could have been avoided
if that change would have been announced beforehand.

And what is written in the last comment is a pity as well. If there has been an
apparently non-public exchange that discusses the need for that change, at least
the minutes or the results should be posted.

Why the heck should TMP be necessary when it build years without an explicitly
set variable? No matter what the answer is: An announcement would have helped to
avoid loads of problems and frustration.

And of course an announcement would have lead to a proper fix, instead of how it
was done. Configure must be the place where TMP should be checked for. (And it
is irrelevant that Sun doesn't use configure) Checking for TMP in build.pl
additionally to configure: OK, be it. Not checking for TMP in configure but
breaking because of it: Not OK.

I hope I made my point clearly enough...

Dmake currently contains several parts that are unmaintained and probably
broken. This is an umbrella issue to remove those parts and do some clean-up.

Candidates for removal are:

* mac/* - Files for the Macintosh Programmer's Workshop (MPW) (Mac
  OS 7.x/8.x/9.x.)

* qssl/*

* tos/*

* msdos/* - Only the support for Compilers before MSVC 6.0

Most of this is untested in a long time, if someone wants to revive the code
again and make it work I am happy to help.

Another possible clean-up:
* Require an ANSI compatible C compiler, we have 2007 now, since the standard
  was ratified in 1989 it's about time for this ...

If there is a "too-complex" table in a .doc and there is a to-character anchored
graphic in it then the ww8 filter will crash as the nodes to which the graphic
is anchored to is deleted and the filter doesn't know about this.

Unfortunately I cannot share the demo document for this, but heres the link to
the backtrace https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=260911 and attached
is a patch to fix this as reported to

[sw-issues] [Issue 83539] [MWEx] Export to MediaWiki notation doesn't work in case of non-ascii le tters (for example estonian öäüõ)

You already got the explanation: the MediaWiki export filter always uses UTF-8.
So every editor or program that imports this file must be able to handle that.
This is not a bug, it's how the transformation works. If you want the output in
another encoding you must do what I already recommended:

- load the file with a suitable editor and save it again with the system
encoding
(on Windows I know at least Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Express that can do
this)

- wait for our upcoming MediaWiki extension that will make sure that the upload
works correctly with UFT-8

Thanks! I've just tried the Linux build and it is great.
(For reference I'm trying this on Ubuntu having alien'd the RPMs)
I've just got it on my laptop here rather than my dual monitor work setup.

One thought which I suspect is a bug; I've got a 14 page document in 4 pages
book mode (also happens in 4 column mode); the layout is slightly odd:

first line is:
gap|page   page|page
   page|page   page|page
   page|page   page|page
 page|page   page|

That is the last row of 3 pages is offset to the right a bit so that the
centre of the first two pages don't line up - all the pages are the same size
(I just took the original document and copy and pasted it repeatedly until I had
14 pages). I'll attach a snapshot after this showing the corner at the top left
of the bottom row.
(This is on a 45% variable zoom).

I think the comments about the modal zoom dialogue might be the other issue I
have; that certainly I was fiddling to try and get a page as large as possible
with the variable zoom and I keep having to click 'OK' to see it - not directly
associated with this bug I guess, but related. Personally I'd find an 'apply'
button would solve this problem.

However, with all that said - I'd be perfectly happy to take what you have
already got; I'm not even sure the Zoom dialogue stuff actually needs that much
work - what you currently have is very simple; but it's simple and it works
which has got to be a good thing.

Pictures with a width of greater than 22.75 inches collapse when saving in DOC
format.

To reproduce:
Open a new document in Writer. Insert two pictures, one with a width of 22.75
inches, the second with a width greater than 22.75 inches. Use the sizing
handles to reduce the width of each picture to about half the document width.
Set the anchoring "As Character". Save the document in Microsoft Word
97/2000/XP (.doc) format, then close and reopen the document. The 22.75 inch
image is displayed correctly. The other picture collapses to the left and has
to be resized again.

Ok. I did another simple test. I wrote a simple ODT document with Writer
containing only the letter "õ". Then exported it with MediaWiki Export.
Then I took SciTE and made another .txt file with only "õ" in it and saved it.
Then I used a hex editor (Tiny Hexer in my case) to look at both files. They
contained different bytes allright.

The SciTE version contained "F5" in hex, OOo MediaWiki export contained "C3B5
0D0A".
0xF5 ->  0101 (decimal 245)
0xC3B5 0D0A -> 1100 0011 1011 0101  1101  1010 (decimal 3283422474)

And if I put SciTE's encoding to UTF-8, it displays the char correctly.

What do you make out of that?

(I'm new to this issuse tracking system, so please excuse my errors. I don't
know if my subcomponent selection is correct.)

If fields have to be wrapped to the next page AND a note for this is set up,
the word's second part is omitted on the footnote at next page.

I noticed this bad behavior when using bibliographic references.

I'll attach a testcase (trennungvonlitverzinfussnoten.odt) and a screenshot
(testcase.png).

Testcases:
testcase1 if " | Weiter auf Seite " is set up:
"Ulrich/Fluri (1995), S. 35" is seperated to:
"Ul- | Weiter auf Seite 4" on page 3 and
", S. 35" on page 4.

testcase1 if "asdfgh" is set up:
"Ulrich/Fluri (1995), S. 35"  is seperated to:
"Ulrich/Fluri asdfgh" on page 3 and
", S. 35" on page 4.

testet with the following verstions/operating systems:
suse 9.2 linux: OpenOffice.org/2.3$Linux
OpenOffice.org_project/680m5$Build-9221
win98: OpenOffice.org/2.3$Win32 OpenOffice.org_project/680m5$Build-9221

The license in the no_NO-pack-2.0.9.zip is GNU GPL, there is no exact version
number referenced.

The thesaurus files are wrong as I see them.

How can idx file be longer than dat file?

Well. It seems that nmailhot was right about my tools being faulty, a bit. I'll
explain why "a bit".
I use SciTE as my text editor, which opened the newly exported MediaWiki file.
Problem is that for some weird reason it opens it with wrong encoding.
If I look under "File -> Encoding", I can see that the active encoding is "8
bit". If I change it to "UTF-8", "UTF-8 Cookie", "UCS-2 Big Endian" or "UCS-2
Little Endian", the non-ASCII letters seem to be fine.
Then I decided to open it with WordPad, it showed me gibberish also.
Then with Notepad, it seems that WinXP SP2 Notepad is capable of UTF-8 after
all, because the chars were fine there.
And the last tool I tried it with, is OO.o Writer itself. And guess what - it
also didn't show me the non-ascii letters.
I tried to browse through the menus and the Tools->Options menu, but I couldn't
find a way to change the encoding.

And perhaps the easiest way to check the problem would be to open with Firefox.
You can verify the problem with your own eyes by changing the encoding to UTF-8
in Firefox. The text file is opened by default with ISO-8859-1 encoding.

So here are my questions:

1) why some text editors can't recognize the encoding (OO.o Writer, SciTE,
Wordpad)? Could it be, that there is some information missing from the
OpenOffice MediaWiki export file header, because for example I can type
non-ASCII letters into Wordpad RTF and open it with OOo Writer with no problems?
 I checked various combinations like creating a non-ascii .txt file with Notepad
and opening it with Writer, Wordpad, Firefox, SciTE and then creating an RTF
with Wordpad and opening it with Writer and then creating a .txt with SciTE and
opening it with Writer, Wordpad, Firefox and Notepad. And probably some other
combinations also. I really wasn't documenting that hard ;)

2) is it possible to change the encoding in OO.o similarly as I described in
SciTE (and Firefox)?

It would be great if there's a shortcut to pause/stop/skip forward/backwards a
video in a Impress presentation. So that the presenter can decide when he wants
to stop the video or to pause it etc.

Hi kim_lyon,

If you Would be so kind to make a more clear description (point by point, for
example, without 'important pissings') of the idea, I think I can set to new and
ask the UX-project their opinion.
If your idea is clear and sound, you make a good change that they admire it :-)

This feature is available in MS Word. It is something I use all the time and its
absence in Writer makes me very reluctant to switch from MS. An ideal solution
would be to make this configurable (provide an option that requests automatic
synchronization of the cursor position in the document with the heading list in
Navigator).

Main menu: "Tools","Options","OpenOffice Writer","Table"
No matter what kind of behavior I select (Fixed, Fixed proportional, Variable)
behavior of columns is the same. When I resize column widtth, adjacent column
(and ONLY adjacent column) is resized too.
Resizing of rows works fine.

this has also been reported at issue 82780 - see an example file there

as this is a regression (worked in OOo 2.2) , please reconsider the target.

confirmed and set as regression, as this worked correctly in OOo 2.2

note: this seems to happen only if the variables are displayed in the header /
footer

Programming a complex toolbar with a SpinField, I realized that it was not
possible to "SetValue" this field. My code is correct because e.g."SetStep" etc.
work fine.

I found this bit of coding on the net (though I am not sure this is OOo code, no
experience with CVS yet)
(http://lxr.go-oo.org/source/framework/framework/source/uielement/spinfieldtoolbarcontroller.cxx):

if ( rControlCommand.Arguments[i].Name.equalsAsciiL( "Value", 4 ))
{
sal_Int32   nValue;
double  fValue;
boolbFloat( false );

if ( impl_getValue( rControlCommand.Arguments[i].Value, nValue, fValue,
m_bFloat ))
{
 aValue = bFloat ? ::rtl::OUString::valueOf( fValue ) :
::rtl::OUString::valueOf( nValue );
 bFloatValue = bFloat;
}
break;
}

Note that in "impl_getValue" "m_bFloat" gets set whereas afterwards "bFloat" is
checked.

Workaround: "SetValues" works fine; it uses b_Float all the time.

This happens only on WinXP (Linux and Vista are ok).

If the border of a table control is changed (e.g. from 3d look to flat) the
table control will be drawn in front of all floating UI elements like the
property window or floating toolbars.

To reproduce just
- open a writer doc,
- insert a table control (enable form controls toolbar and klick on More
Controls)
- open property window for the table control and place it, so that it overlaps
the table control
- change border from 3D Look to flat

-> Table control will be drawn over the property window

I have create a model reading a database for some fields.

When i print this document, and mergind it with data, i chose in the message
box :
-> to a file (NOT to printer),
-> as simple doc (NOT as uniques docs)
-> to PDF format.

Everything works fine, but the PDF file contains extra blanks pages (one blank
page between each page.

If i choose to print this doc instead of send i to a file, there is NO blank
page.

Thank for your help !
