[sw-issues] [Issue 9350] Font list clumsy when have many fonts
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=9350 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Jun 25 03:04:51 + 2008 --- Heh, 6000 installed fonts?! Even dedicated font managers can have trouble with that number. More likely to impact on users would be a modest number of installed fonts that include some particularly fancy display fonts containing complex glyphs, such as some Renaissance-style initial caps, very intricate dingbats, or fonts with fancy shading etc, all of which take a while to display. Some form of caching would be a solution. That said, I've just opened a request (issue 91032) for a user-definable font list, which could help circumvent problems. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Actually, I see no warning at all for missing fonts (on XP). Desired behaviour would be similar to InDesign: On opening doc with missing fonts, OOo to display warning message and three options: - Ignore - Change fonts temporarily - Change fonts permanently First option proceeds as OOo does now, temporarily substituting whatever seems right without altering the document's font definitions. Second option opens a dialog for the user to match installed fonts to document fonts, for display use only (ie. without changing the document's font definitions) Third option is similar to second but changes the actual font names in the doc (ie. substitutes them). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. As a workaround in OOo, you can used a fixed (eg. 1cm) line spacing. Modern symbol-style fonts, such as from Adobe, use Unicode to encode their characters, so fonts can be changed without losing the symbols. Obviously, a lot of fonts still don't use Unicode. It may then be useful to have OOo implement an easy method for protecting sections of text if a user wishes (ie. user selects text and clicks a "protect" button or right-clicks to select "protect"). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Incidentally, my install uses no font replacement table. Also looks okay with the actual Albertus Medium fonts. Does the problem persist on an RTF export? [sw-issues] [Issue 45358] OOo can't distinguish font s lucida sans oblique and lucida sans demi-obl ique.
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=45358 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Jun 25 01:40:38 + 2008 --- Thought I've sift through some unconfirmed font issues. This one seems to be caused either by a system-level conflict between two versions of Lucida Sans, or bad fonts (incorrect internal names and/or weights). Though I'm not on Linux, such a situation will confuse most apps on XP, and I've already seen at least one Lucida set with completely screwed up internal names. I'd suggest closing the issue as it doesn't appear to be OOo's fault. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The "Picture" option in the Format menu is disabled when I select this object. If I open the context menu's Object option, Type tab, Size group; then check the Width.Relative, Height.Relative, and Keep Ratio checkboxes followed by clicking the "Original Size" button, the object's aspect ratio is corrected. The desired result is to be able to increase the graphic size so that the actual graphic fits nicely in a 7.1" x 10" frame with correct aspect ratio and with unwanted white space cropped. I am unable to figure out how to do this in OO 2.4.1. This is a bit of a show stopper for me because I import graphics into my documents very often. This is the first time I tried OO 2.4.x I do not remember experiencing this problem in 2.3 versions. Arnold - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. My guess is something up with Freetype 2.3.6. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=52762 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jun 24 19:42:49 + 2008 --- Hello, sorry I did not track this issue for a couple of month. But now I'm tested the latest stable and the new beta release and can confirm the flickering is gone for this document. The status bar only makes one and a half run. For me this is good enough and normal users probably would not notice the second (half) run, too. So the issue can be closed for the new 3.0 Release :-) Can I do this or must this be done by one of the developers? Keep up the good work CU Dirk - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I have also tested with another document, a long plain text document (Don Quixote) with no references, nor graphics, etc, to which I added a lot of notes, but in this case, there were no problems. It worked OK up to m19. With m20 and m21 things went wrong. In both cases, I uninstalled the program and installed again m19 and in this case there were no problems. In every case I used the same document. I work now withe the same document in 2.4.1 and there is no problem. I am afraid thus that this report will have to remain unconfirmed. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I also tested on the following Linux npower 10 build: O3-build-2457-npower10-install_set I was able to get 16 to return when I pointed to a correct directory structure. The other two tests would always return a 0 or a 1 depending on how my test files permissions were set. I couldn't every figure out a way to set my file permissions to hidden and read-only using both chmod and chattr on Linux. I guess the price to be paid by using an 5 years older compiler than the majority of the developers - I'm not sure how many developers still use the old compiler on DEV300, can't be that many - is way higher than to administer two compiler installations. Frank already ok'ed jpryor's changes from ( froms-radio-button-group-names.diff ) see http://dba.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=3477 and associated thread 2. As jpryor mentioned there is no persistence of the new toolkit GroupName attribute, e.g. if you set the groupname propery in a basic dialog the groupname will be lost 3. There is an awful hack in the XL userform import to apply radio button grouping it should be removed I can provide a patch for 2 & 3 above ( I propose to just use the same attribute name ( with the dialog namespace ) e.g. dlg:groupname ) hope that is ok, I will attach the patch here when done - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. They didn't work with a deprecated compiler (.Net 2003). Now I'm a reasonable man and it's certainly possible to get this working for both cases as a compromise so I made a few suggestions. Simply feeding Rüdiger a number of patches which reverts the code to it's broken state and kill the Solaris 64 bit builds is not a compromise. Since I guess these kinds of problems will happen more often in future and I certainly don't want to play P1 issue ping pong on these I suggest that we'll officially kill .Net2003 because it's simply to painful to further support it. Well, it would be a lot less painful to support this deprecated compiler in future if correct changes made for the benefit of a modern compiler wouldn't be just reverted but, but, working together, we could find a solution that work with both. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. You have to wait and go to another place in the file before the note finally looks OK. When I partition the file into 2 files, the program works a lot better. This happened also in OOo-dev 3 m20 (no problem in 2.4.1) In general, navigating in m21 is very slow. The numberformat N128P0 in object 13 is volatile: and therefor is deleted in method SvXMLNumImpData::RemoveVolatileFormats. But a same numberformat containing 3 decimal places and min-integer-digits=1 is already used in calc. As the chart and calc do share the numberformatter this used numberformat is deleted wrongly. @Niklas, do you have an idea for a fix here?
