Thanks for checking, now can you please send a mail to annou...@openoffice.org
from you flo...@gmail.com id and notify the subject to us and i believe this
should reach only your mail box for moderation.

I believe this is working as it is supposed to work, I tested this in a few
other lists as well and noticed that the mails sent by the moderators reaches
only the moderator who sent the mail for approval, While mails from non
moderators reaches to all the moderators in the list for it to be approved.

This .doc file includes several pictures, one per page.
OpenOffice Writer 3.0 under Linux sees only one page.

Since I have not found the way to attach the problem file to, here it is a link:

That might be the reason, indeed! Can you check with which address John is
subscribed? Is it jp...@openoffice.org?

I'm moderator with flo...@gmail.com and send from flo...@openoffice.org , so
everyone gets my moderation request. If John is moderator with
jp...@openoffice.org, the same address he uses to post, this would explain why
only he receives the requests.

I just (12:25 UTC+1) sent an e-mail from flo...@gmail.com to annou...@ooo with a
subject and message body of test, DO NOT MODERATE THROUGH. I received the
moderation request.

I think mba is not holding a discussion but providing a solution.

Note how similar it is to M$ OLE solution:
- each object type can be embedded in an OLE container as the container does not
need to know the contents
- each object provides a server for edit (embedded edit) and open (standalone
edit)
- the object's server provides a preview for display and printing (bitmap, wmf
or emf)
- better would be: the objects server proves a rasterizer for printing and
displaying (see bryancole above)

For OO:
- using inkscape for 'edit' (I mean editting embedded in f.i. writer) won't work
as inkscape is not a OLE server
- but it will work for 'open' as mba described
- who needs 'edit'? Draw does only 'edit' and not 'open' which is a big
frustration when trying to edit a complex, large draw object embedded in writer.

ODF 1.0/1.1 documents containing a frame inside a shape produce an error when
trying to open in OpenOffice.org 3.0 (and I think all other versions of OOo as
well).

Steps to reproduce:
---
Not possible with OOo. Create a new document in Microsoft Word, insert a shape
of any type and insert a picture inside the shape. Save the document to ODF
using MS Office 2007 SP2 or the OpenXML/ODF Translator Add-in.

Expected behavior:
--
Even if OOo does not support the specific feature, Writer should be able to fail
gracefully and open the valid ODF document (by simply ignoring the ODF features
that are not supported by OOo).

Generally the input parser is already quite robust; however it should also be
capable of opening documents created by other applications, especially when
these documents only used features of ODF 1.0/1.1.

Please find below the *valid* content part which was created using MS Office SP2
Beta:

Hi
In DEV300_m39 .deb version, when you create a new template category an error
message pop up 'Untitled already exist'. Click ok, the new category is created
and you can name it. Again, create a new category, an error message pop up
'Untitled1 already exist', click ok, the new category is created and you can
name it. Create a new category, the pop up will say 'Untitled12 already exists',
etc...

Kind regards - Sophie

Already this capability has been included in OOo. First in Optinslanguages,
local setting should be set to interested language then numbering should be set
to native numbering. However I did not tested it accurately and completely. I
think this Issue should be closed.

More details: uppercase indexes sorted by the Perl index file generator of
MyThes can result bad (maybe locale dependent) order for the binary search
algorithm of the thesaurus component. Try LC_ALL=C environment:

cat your.dat | LC_ALL=C ./th_gen_idx.pl your.idx

or convert your index file to lowercase (maybe it can result missing synonyms
for uppercase words, maybe not.)

As suspected John is indeed a moderator with the jp...@openoffice.org id, hence
this explains why only he is receiving the moderation requests for his messages.

And to add i do not see the test mail sent by you for moderation in my mail box.

So this explains this issue by itself. Please let us know if you have any
further queries regarding this, if not hope this can be closed.

the icons installed in
/usr/share/icons/{hicolor,locolor,gnome}/*/*/openofficeorg3*png don't
adhere to freedesktop.org's Icon Naming Specification [1]. They should
be named according to the mime types specified in
/usr/share/mime/packages/openoffice.org.xml:

application-vnd.oasis.opendocument.subtype.png

A simple:
ln -s /usr/share/icons/hicolor/16x16/mimetypes/openofficeorg3-oasis-text.png \

/usr/share/icons/hicolor/16x16/mimetypes/application-vnd.oasis.opendocument.text.png

shows that this works as expected and the icons get picked up e.g. in the
GtkFileChooser and KDE since icon themes are required to fall back to hicolor
if no other icon is available [2]:

| In order to have a place for third party applications to install their icons
| there should always exist a theme called hicolor [1]. The data for the
| hicolor theme is available for download at:
| http://www.freedesktop.org/software/icon-theme/. Implementations are required
| to look in the hicolor theme if an icon was not found in the current theme.

Note that I have observed this in Debian's openoffice.org package but the
maintainer indicates that this might also affect the upstream source [3].

Sometimes we are working in a document text.odt and we need EXPORT in .DOC for
example.
The way to do this is actually SAVE AS ...text.DOC.
OK, but now the current text is text.DOC and not text.odt.

The gimp have a very usefull item into file menu.
SAVE COPY AS.
Using this function after export (or save the copy) the actual document still is
the original name (text.odt)

I think is very easy to apply

Thanks

So many times i draw a vectorial image. And many times i need export the result
draw in gif, bmp or another image format.

The problem is the very low quality of large images.
For example i draw a 1/4 page box, and in the center write hello with normal
fontsize (12/14). When i export this, the resulting image is a 300x300 pix with
text absolutely pixeled.
The result image is useless for web images or print quality (the print store
wants 300x300 DPI as minimun)

Thanks

Logical functions are supposed to accept a semicolon-separated list of terms.
For example, here is a quote from the docs for the AND function:

   AND(LogicalValue1; LogicalValue2 ...LogicalValue30)
LogicalValue1; LogicalValue2 ...LogicalValue30 are conditions to be checked.

However, using semicolons between terms results in Err:508 (Missing bracket)

Commas seem to work, however. If semicolons are supposed to work then it should
be made so; otherwise the documentation should be fixed to say commas instead.

[framework-issues] [Issue 98432] Creating a new template ca tegory popup an error message

The problem is already in OO2.4.1, but OOo2.4.1 gives no error message. If you
generate a new category, then OOo generates a folder in the writeable template
path. This folder has the name Unbenannt for a German UI or Untitled for an
English UI. The connection between folder name and category name is entered in
the file groupuinames.xml. If you create another new category OOo tries to use
the folder name Untitled and notices that it already exists. Therefore it
generates a folder Untitled1. OOo2.4.1 does this silently, DEV300m39 produces
an error message. I think there is a bug, but not in generating the error
message. The but is using the folder name Untitled instead of the category
name, which the user has entered.

This sounds similar (not duplicate) to issue 97969, where an error message is
produced when file template save to an already existing template name.

[graphics-issues] [Issue 97181] grayscale printing problem for the footer

--- Additional comments from jmcco...@openoffice.org Sat Jan 24 21:27:22

I was able to reproduce the view issue but not the print issue on an HP psc1310
or by printing to PDF.

Following the steps outlined in the description, I created a slide and printed
to grayscale. I tried using both the High Quality and Black Print Cartridge
Only settings for grayscale on my HP printer. The footer data printed correctly
both times. I then attempted to print to PDF, which also produced correct footer
data. This may point to a printer compatibility problem.

The view issue is easily reproducible with the instructions given. Even if the
the printing issue is limited to a few printers, the view issue for grayscale
could be a problem for users who operate solely in grayscale. There is a risk
that an unwanted footer could be printed and handed out without the presenter
knowing it was there.

In calc, Tools-Macros-OrganizeMacros-OpenOffice.orgBasic presents a dialog
which does not premit renaming modules directly, but if any module is selected
and 'Edit' clicked, the module editor is opened, and -all- modules are available
for editing. Modules appear as 'sheet' tabs at the bottom.

Once in the editor system, right-click on a module tab presents several options
including rename.

But selecting the rename feature causes the current spreadsheet page to flash
but otherwise has no effect.

I'm not sure whether or not this is a bug, but it is possible to paste
buttons onto protected sheets. The cell contents can not be changed, however
(as expected).

DEMO PROCEDURE:
  1. Create a button on one sheet
 Here is how:
  View-Toolsbars-Form Controls (check on)
Click DesignModeOnOff (the second one) to make Design Mode on.
Click the PushButton icon. Cursor changes to cross-hairs
Use the mouse to draw a button outline on the sheet.

  2. Create a new sheet.
  6. Tools-ProtectDocument-Sheet; enable protection (no password necessary)

I'm not sure whether or not this is a bug, but it is possible to paste
buttons and presumably other controls onto protected sheets, obscuring
the original content (although the cell data can not be changed).

DEMO PROCEDURE:
  1. Create a button on one sheet
 Here is how:
  View-Toolsbars-Form Controls (check on)
Click DesignModeOnOff (the second one) to put Design Mode on.
Click the PushButton icon. Cursor changes to cross-hairs.
Use the mouse to draw a button outline on the sheet.

  2. Create a new sheet.
  3. Tools-ProtectDocument-Sheet; enable protection (no password necessary)
  4. Go back to the first sheet. Turn on DesignMode if it is not still on.
Select the button and Control-C to copy it onto the clipboard.
  5. Go to the new, protected sheet. Control-V pastes the button onto it.

The installer gets to the end, and first reports an error about permissions
on C:\Windows\winsxs\Policies (which doesn't exist). That folder is owned
by TrustedInstaller. After setting myself to the owner, the installer fails
again at the end with what looks like a .NET error. It says something
like assembly=...,policy=win32' I figure that it's failing because I'm
running a 64 bit platform (lots of amd64 entries in winsxs, running Intel
Core 2 Duo 2.15 Ghz, Dell XPS M1710).

Any help figuring this out would be appreciated. If you want a screenshot
of the error message, let me know and how to submit it.

Tools-Macros-OrganizeMacros-OpenOffice.orgBasicOrganize. Click two times (no
double click!) on the module name. Then you see a blinking cursor at the end of
the name and you can change the name. At least in WinXP it works in this way.

For me, renaming the module in the IDE works without problems. I use DEV300m39
on WinXP. Do you use a genuine OOo version or do you use a version from your
Linux provider?

When you copy a page on the web, paste it in open office, the images are not
saved locally within open office writer, instead they are linked to the
origional location for the images, thus making it have to download and load the
images every time. This not only makes it a pain to have to save each image
locally then paste them into the document, but it slows the writer down bringing
the overall experience down.

I have reproduced this issue on version OOO300m15, running on Windows XP Home
SP3, with a 1.83GHz Intel T2400 processor, 1GB RAM, and an NVidia GeForce Go
7600 graphics card. There are no other resource-intensive tasks running. This
bug happens when I play epper's attached slideshow and when I create my own
presentation and add the Bounce animation (character by character, 10% delay).
Unchecking Tools - Options - View - Use hardware acceleration as suggested
had no visible effect.

In the preview:
The bounce animation does not render. The slide panel goes black, and then the
slide appears with the non-animated text. After about 1 second, the slide
returns to normal mode, with the animated text visible on the slide. The
animation is never shown in the preview.

Other motion-intensive animations (e.g. Boomerang, Float, Rise Up) render slowly
and choppily in the preview, but Bounce is the only animation I have tried that
does not render at all. Others are just extremely choppy. By contrast, the
Bounce animation and others in Microsoft Powerpoint 2003 render smoothly in the
preview on my machine.

In the slide show:
Occasionally the Bounce animation will render the characters as blocks. This
happened a few times in a row for me, but afterwards I could not reproduce it.
Either way, the Bounce animation is extremely slow, as are all the others I
tried, including simple animations like Box.

I compared the Bounce animation in the slide show with the same configuration
(Animation by letter with a 10% delay, speed set to Medium) and text in
Microsoft PowerPoint 2003. In Impress, the animation takes 30 seconds to play on
average over three trials. In Powerpoint 2003, it takes about 5 seconds on
average, with no rendering issues.

I was working on a How to print envelopes using Open Office org for my parents
on their new HP a6442p (has an Intel Dual core E2200) and had inserted a number
of screen shots of the Envelope dialog, then resized the images, then decided to
put them into a table. This is when the problems began. The images would not
cut and paste when I selected them with their accompanying text. So I tried
dragging the anchor into the table cell. This would work, but did not yeild the
results I wanted, so I tried switching the anchor type to As Character. This
resulted in the images being resized to VERY small even though the properties
still said they were the size I had made them. Eventually I closed the document
because I needed to restart the system to get it to detect the memory card
reader so I could pull some more images from an xD card. Now when I try to
reopen this document on that system, or my HP laptop (also running Vista, and
OOo 2.3.0), or my linux desktop (FC4, OOo 2.0), OpenOffice will just hang for a
long time (as in, I get tired of waiting after several minutes).

[graphics-issues] [Issue 96472] table copied from writer i s pasted as text in impress

2009-01-24 Thread egrove
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue:

--- Additional comments from egr...@openoffice.org Sun Jan 25 01:14:05

This behaviour is easily reproducible on Windows as well as Linux, and its
status as a bug is up for debate, but I can understand how it is confusing to a
user in that it produces an unexpected result.

To reproduce the users issue:
1) In Write, create a table, enter some text in the table, then select the
entire table and copy it.
2) In Impress, select Paste from the Right Mouse Button (RMB)-- the entire
table is pasted. Interestingly, it picks up table-formatting as it is pasted --
the pasted table has blue cells and white lines, rather than the black borders
of the original table in Write.
3) In Impress, select the text tool and begin typing some text. While the text
frame is still active, select Paste from the RMB-- the text in the table is
added to the text. The user is correct in stating that in this circumstance
the effect of Paste is more like what you'd expect from Paste Special, in that
it converts the clipboard content to text.

What I found most unusual about all of this behaviour is that to have the exact
content copied from Write pasted, the user must select Paste Special from the
Edit menu and choose to paste clipboard comments as an Open Office 3.0 Text
Document, which creates an embedded object but preserves the original
appearance of the table. See the attachment for illustration of the three
different results of the paste command.

The behaviour of the Paste function is very context-sensitive, and I think it's
difficult for a user to anticipate the result except through trial and error.
But the inconsistency of the function according to context should really be a
different bug.

Ok, I *hope* I got everything covered. The issue was larger than I expected, so
it's hard to see if I've covered all corners. But since I can't think of any
other outstanding issues, I'll mark this FIXED.

OOO300m15 (Build:9379)

Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002 Service Pack 3

I was able to replicate the issue of Insert - Object - Video on Windows XP.

1) File - New - Presentation
2) Press Next
3) Press Next
4) Press Create
5) Insert - Object - Video

As a result of putting in an .avi file, a large plug icon labeled Object 1
was shown as a place holder. When I attempted to resize the place holder for
Object 1, I found that the display did not refresh over the place where the
original Object 1 icon was. In trying an .mov file, there was a similar
behavior except the plug icon was shortly replaced with a QuickTime icon which
would not allow removal as described above. In trying a .wmv file, the
application would not stop showing the hour-glass wait and caused the
application to stop responding. All of the files worked when using Insert -
Movie and Sound except the .wmv which doesn't seem to be supported from there.

Some files used:

I was not able to reproduce this behavior. The master worked for me.
I used oO v. 3.0 on Windows XP, Media Center Edition, Service Pack 2.

Here are the steps I took in an attempt to reproduce:

* Create presentation from empty presentation
  * 2
  * Select slide design: Blue and Red Gradient
  * Select an output medium: Screen
  * Preview checkbox selected
  * 3
  * Select a slide transition:
  * Effect: No Effect
  * Speed: Medium
  * Select the presentation type
  * Default
  * Preview checkbox selected

* Slide 1 (blank), default blank-layout selected
* Select title layout
* Enter text on slide
* Save-as

* Add new slide, default layout is title layout
* Change layout to Title, Text
* Add text

* Select Slide Master view from View menu
* Change title text format to BOLD
* Select Second Outline Level text and change to Courier New (from Thorndale)
* OBSERVATION: Text for all lines below change to Courier New as well (BUG?)
* Save

* Re-open - does this mean go back to the slide view, or close the file and
re-open the file?
* Change view back to Normal the slides look right to me (changed font is
correct, can view the slides) (bug not reproduced)

* Select Slide Master View, change Second Outline Level text back to Thorndale
* Close and save (dialogue asking to save appeared after hitting X in upper
right)

* Re-open slide show
* Thorndale is the text, master is applied (bug not reproduced)

I believe this is not a bug but it reflects the fact that the Impression
application will allow you to place text and/or objects outside the viewing area
in slide show view. This would explain why the user is seeing the upper part
of the text. Please see attached screen shots for examples.

[sc-issues] [Issue 96268] Highlighting of selected c ells has not enough contrast

--- Additional comments from michaelbu...@openoffice.org Sun Jan 25

I'd like to confirm this issue, and also point out a couple details/anomalies
about it.

At least one other user is reporting this issue only with XP using the Zune
(black gloss) desktop theme applied. The issue does not occur for me when a
default blue or silver XP theme is applied.
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9p=55653

After reading more I associated the trouble with the theme, until I discovered
the contrast problem not occurring on a 2nd PC with the same OO.org version,
same XP, same theme applied. In fact, the selected cell contrast was fantastic
on the 2nd machine I observed.

Allow me to link to a a few illustrative screenshots below:
First, My application screenshot with cells selected and options screen open
in foreground.
http://www.smick.net/images/OpenOfficeBug/mike_oocalc_selectedcells.png
Please note in this image how the selected rows and columns highlight color as
well.

Next, my XP Display Properties Advanced Appearance window.
http://www.smick.net/images/OpenOfficeBug/mike_displayproperties.png

Next, a 2nd machine's calc window, note the selected cell and row column color.
Contrast is excellent. I've attempted to mimic this machine's appearance options
in OO.org and display properties with no success.
http://www.smick.net/images/OpenOfficeBug/mom_oocalc_selectedcells.png

Last, 2nd Machine's XP Display Properties Advanced Appearance window.
Again these are what is set when installing Zune theme. Although there are
several Zune theme download locations throughout the web.
http://www.smick.net/images/OpenOfficeBug/mom_displayproperties.png

There are differences between these two machines setup. I have separate video
card, the 2nd machine is on board video. Processors, mobo, RAM completel
different. The 2nd machine is much older, lower power. There also might be an
order which installing the Zune theme before or after OO.org makes a difference.
I doubt this to be the case.

I have attempted to delete oo.org preferences after changing options to see if
it works. No success. Also unlike the original ticket submitter, states a color
change to Active Menu in Display Properties Appearances doesn't appear to
affect anything. However they may be improperly naming that actual color
property as Active Menu Item doesn't exist in my XP Pro preferences.

I captured the 2nd machine screenshots with VNC, so that may be causing some of
the window color differences. As far as I know they are the same colorsa, but I
can't say for sure.

This is still an issue and, as reported above, it is related to following page
style. The following page style is not exported, all pages get the first page
style. This results in any header or footer on the following page(s) being lost.

This is a pretty important issue. Can we get a fix soon?

Thanks!
