Now I did this, like vq said: $ ssh -v -v -v -2 -x -L 2401:localhost:2401 [EMAIL PROTECTED] I'm attaching 3 screenshots to show the results. Sorry about the screenshots, but I don't remember how to send this stuff to a file. I haven't used DOS in 10 years, and good riddance to it, I say! :-) Willy said, Do those file have to be named id_dsa and id_dsa.pub? That's not the names of the key files I had. I tried renaming my key files but they didn't work with either the original names or the id_dsa names. ? When you create the key, it should be named that way (default name) see my attachment Yes, but I *did not* create my key using cygwin. I created it using PuTTY, months ago. IIRC (and I might be misremembering), PuTTY asked me what name I wanted for the keys, and I gave them a different name. So the public key I sent to OOo had a different name. Does OOo store the public key with the name I gave it, or some other name? I have no idea. I don't know when I'll have time to look at this again, maybe not for 2 or 3 weeks. BTW, Willy, I'm a she. :-) Cheers, Jean - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [www-issues] [Issue 46991] Cannot access SSH/CVS using PuTTY and WinCVS
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=46991 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Apr 10 15:01:59 -0700 2005 --- what does text mounts means? http://cygwin.com/faq/faq_3.html#SEC74 This is set by setup.exe during the installation with the Radio Button: Default Text File Type. Choosing DOS there might look like a good idea but is really calling for trouble for some unix utility programs. Just enter $ mount to see how your installation treats DOS text files. binmode means no special treatment (unix), textmode does CR/LF munging. the id_dsa (private key) can be set to be rw---, but it's useless, since we should not alter any of the private keys :) I know ;) . I wrongly assumed that the missing privilidges on the public key were the problem. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=46991 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Apr 9 22:40:31 -0700 2005 --- Here is the latest in my saga. I downloaded and installed Cygwin. I copied my public and private keys (previously generated by PuTTY and which had worked to get me into OOo) to the directory where Cygwin looks for them. (I'm not sure whether that was the right thing to do, but I couldn't think what else to do, and the instructions assume I'm generating a new key, not using an old one.) I followed the instructions on the web pages mentioned earlier in this thread: I started Cygwin and typed in: ssh -2 -x -L 2401:localhost:2401 [EMAIL PROTECTED] At the notice about the authenticity of host openoffice.org can't be established, I typed yes as instructed and got the message of ooo being permanently added to the list of known hosts. So far so good. Next I got the message: [EMAIL PROTECTED]'s password: at which I entered the password for my key, and got the message Permission denied, please try again. After 3 tries, I was kicked out. I noticed that the sequence was different from the instructions, which said I would be asked for my passphrase *before* I got the authenticity message. So... what should I do now? -- Jean - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Entering that keyboard command had no effect. This has happened a few times before when I was trying to use WinCVS with PuTTY, but at other times I could use Ctrl+C to close PuTTY with no problem. -- JHW - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Every try from your end results in a swamped SSH/CVS system at the site. Nobody is able to commit changes and the operations team has to restart the system. As you switched from WinCVS to TortoiseCVS the root cause seems to be with PuTTY. Do we know somebody who is successfully running a tunnel with PuTTY? I prefer to use command line CVS using Cygwin :) Sorry, i can't help you for this case Jean, perhaps you should try downloading Cygwin and see if it works command line is not that bad :) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. BTW, a nice guide for Cygwin is here: http://website.openoffice.org/support/en/howtos/1.html It's listed from the SSH2 Guide. cheers Louis - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
