Re: [android-developers] Block application install

2016-07-03 Thread 'Dario Dorando' via Android Developers
There is an app called "Package Installer", which installs every package
(apk & Playstore). You can simply set a password query for this one. This
prevents every application from (un-)installing unless you enter the right
password.

AW: [android-developers] How to stop an applications music/sound whenHOME button is pressed?

2016-01-04 Thread 'Dario Dorando' via Android Developers
On which Android Version?

Betreff: [android-developers] How to stop an applications music/sound whenHOME
button is pressed?

I am developing an app in Flash Professional CS5.5 & Actionscript 3 for the
Android phone. When I hit the HOME button to exit the app, the background music
keeps playing. I have already tried the following two methods:

METHOD 1:
package
{   import flash.display.Sprite;
    import flash.events.Event;
    public class Main extends Sprite
    {   public function Main():void
    {   stage.addEventListener(Event.ACTIVATE, onAppActivated);
    stage.addEventListener(Event.DEACTIVATE, onAppDeactivated);
    }
    private function onAppActivated(e:Event):void
    {   // Play audio
    }
    private function onAppDeactivated(e:Event):void
    {   // Stop audio
    }
    }
}

METHOD 2:
package
{   import flash.desktop.NativeApplication
    import flash.events.KeyboardEvent;
    public class Main extends Sprite
    {   public function Main():void
    {
NativeApplication.nativeApplication.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN,
onKeyDown);
    }
    protected function onKeyDown(e:KeyboardEvent):void
    {   if(e.keyCode == Keyboard.HOME)
    {   //stop audio.
    }
    }
    }
}

Neither method works for stopping the audio & frankly i'm at a loss as for how
to proceed here. Is there any way to override the home key? or maybe there is
something I can add to the XML manifest for the app? (something like
UIApplicationExitsOnSuspend]]>?)

I published a game on play store over a month ago. It does not show any similar
apps. Normally a game shows its related games within a week. Anybody have any
guesses why is that? Kindly share your thoughts on this matter.

REASON FOR SUSPENSION:Violation of the impersonation or deceptive behavior
provisions of the Content Policy.

I sended Appeal for removal with screenshoot my godaddy domain panel and whois
information, which says this domain registered by mine.

They answered:
We were not able to validate your account's relationship to the original
content or brand owner (Livescore.com). In order for us to process your appeal,
please reply with verifiable documentation that your application is authorized.
Please be advised we will not be able to respond or reinstate your application
without the above documentation.

I don't now why Livescore.com? i am not using livescore.com logo or data or
anything. My site is livescores.biz

Have you sent it from an Computer to another one?
If so, then you have to Import the Project first.
I think it’s „Start“ -> „New Project“ -> „Import Project from existing Code“ or
whatever.

[android-developers] Apache Jena framework on Android

2013-04-22 Thread dario bonino

Few months ago we were involved in a project using ontologies on
Android-based mobile devices. We firstly tried the Androjena project
(http://code.google.com/p/androjena/) but it's development is almost ceased
and it supports only a subset of the Jena features. Therefore we tried to
use the full Apache Jena project on Android. While the project is not
directly working, we analyzed the issues and we came out with a fully
working copy of Jena on Android.

We think that the process for getting Jena working on Android might be of
interest for the development community of Jena and Android. More
specifically we would like to inform you about the issues preventing direct
adoption of Jena in Android and the solution we applied, hoping that they
might be integrated in the full Jena release in a near future.

You can find a Jena version working on Android (4.x) here:
http://elite.polito.it/jena-on-android

while in the following we describe the issue preventing direct adoption of
Jena in Android.

The Jena framework defines some packages (mostly inherited from
dependencies, Xerces, in particular) by using the namespace javax.* . Such
a namespace is currently interpreted by the Dalvik cross-compiler as
belonging to the "core" java library, thus not being "safe" to
cross-compile. The result is that the code containing such packages is not
cross-compiled unless the compiler is set in "core-library" mode which
results in a compiled code that will probably cease working after system
updates and that, as the cross-compiler warns, " will ultimately lead to
pain, suffering, grief, and lamentation."

Actually the packages are not part of the java core library therefore a
simple re-factoring solves the problem. In the specific case, we downloaded
the last sources of xerces, refactored all javax.* packages to javax2.*
and re-packed the library, and everything worked perfectly. This, by the
way, enables the full Jena framework on Android, with the ability for
developers to just include the needed modules as it is currently done in
typical Java applications.

Re: [android-developers] how to display pdf file in a project

2012-06-04 Thread Dario
I think you should divide your project in two separate steps:
- storage management: I think you're thinking about db storing to protect
your document.
- pdf rendering

For the first step, I think you won't be able to put your file from db to
ram and past it to the second step: third part library are able to read and
write pdf file from filesystem, not from a memory array.

Second step: you need to check and choose a third part library. There are
some available: MuPDF, PDFTron, PDFViewer from Radae.
Actually we are adopting the third option from androidpdf.mobi.

[android-developers] Open and render local PDF

2012-05-30 Thread Dario
I'm looking how to render PDF pages from a local file without using
online services as Google Apps.

The need is get a library (java or native) not tight to GPL2/GPL3
licenses as MuPDF is: our product will be a commercial product.

As anyone experiences with PDFTron, Foxit or Radaee?
Performances? Cost?

[android-developers] Re: Android isn't able to manage a PDF, this is bad.

2012-05-30 Thread Dario
We have found some native libraries that make developers able to render off
line PDF.
After we've tested MuPDF (but it's GPL3 and our application won't be open
source) we are investigating about other solutions.
Now we are dealing with Radaee (androidpdf.mobi). We would test also
PDFTron.

[android-developers] Re: How to read pdf/ppt/doc file in android offline?

We're dealing with radaee native library. It seems simple and fast.
We would also check for PDFTron.
Both are closed sources and commercial libraries.

[android-developers] Show default view in activitygroup

2011-05-12 Thread dario
Hello

In my app I have a tabHost with 4 tabs; one of these tabs is an
activitygroup with different activities. I would like to show the
default activity any time the corresponding tab is clicked.

I'm handling onResume and onStart event and they work fine except when
the corresponding tab was the one already selected (no events are
raised in this case); in other words I need to show the default
activity any time the corresponding tab is clicked, even if it was
already was the current tab.

Any hint?

Thanks

For what it's worth, another workaround (and another hint to the

[android-developers] Re: Android 2.3: eclipse reporting "Unable to execute dex: null"

2010-12-07 Thread dario
Fix is in master repo (verified) and it seems like 8.0.1 is ready to
go, however I'm seeing a problem with the layout editor and custom
views that have a dependency on a class that is in a referenced Java
project.

At least the error is accurate this time: NoClassDefFound:

[android-developers] Re: Market expanding to technically non-compliant devices?

2010-12-01 Thread dario
'Standalone' apps don't have to go away. OHA should commit to openness
to make sure we don't have to fragment our apps. For example, using a
front facing camera shouldn't require separate apks (even Qik had to
do this).

Fortunately thanks to a tip from Diane, we can now use the
undocumented required="false" with the element just
like we do with but this only works with 2.x so
unfortunately you still a need a separate apk for 1.6. It would also
help if somehow the market could count downloads from these separate
apks together as part of one app.

Going back to the start of this thread, I tested the following:

But android.hardware.touchscreen is still gets listed in the dev
console for market filtering. For apps that made sure that the
touchscreen wasn't the sole input UI, it would be great to see these
apps work on GoogleTV once the market is available there.

[android-developers] Re: Spinner in ListView Activity

Seems like you're not setting the adapter on the spinner but on the
list, is this intended? (I'm assuming you are extending ListActivity)
this would explain why onItemSelected isn't called.

This looks like issue 6109

Which hasn't been updated but the good news is that I tried your code

I saw that 1.0/1.1 was not sending sensor updates at all when screen

[android-developers] Re: ADC 2 Submission Site -- Now live

2009-08-25 Thread Yuri Dario

Hello,

one thing it is still not clear to me.

I see that applications submitted for ADC2 will not be visible into
the market, so we can publish another application in the market under
a different package name.

But application updates are not clear: while apps on market can be
updated as we need, I only see that ADC2 applications cannot be
updated between first and second round.

So, can ADC2 applications be updated between submission and first
round end? I think we can, we need at least to fix bugs :-) , but I'd
prefer to get an answer about this.

thanks,

Yuri

it does not work for me, still rc=2. What did you use in your manifest
file?

here I have sdk 1.5r2, tried building with 1.1 level and 1.5 level,
both failed on device and emulator. Now I'm trying to get SDK 1.1 to
work again, but it will take some time.

Thanks,

Yuri

Hi,

tried this one, but calling it does nothing, and always returns 2;
since this is a native method, I think it means EACCESS (permission
denied).

thanks,

Yuri

with the DEVICE_POWER right in manifest, I got a PowerManager
instance, but goToSleep is still not usable.

also device sleep.

[android-developers] How to power off the screen?

2009-07-20 Thread Yuri Dario

Hi,

I'm looking for a way to power off the device screen from my program.
I see that PowerManager is only for system apps, and I can't find
other ways.

Can you help me?

thanks,

Yuri

[android-developers] Re: 3GP file plays on hardware, not on emulator

2009-07-13 Thread dario

I had an identical problem when I saved videos with custom
dimensions. So you may want to save to the common 352x288 and either
clip or resize during playback or try saving using different aspect
ratios.

hope this helps,
Dario

[android-developers] Re: Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error

2009-05-03 Thread dario

The 'conversion to Dalvik format / use --core-library' compilation
error which is being widely reported in several threads here and
elsewhere is not only presenting itself with third party unsupported
classes.

When upgrading to 1.5 from 1.1 you can also get this error message if
you fail to remove a previous library variable pointing to the android
jar (even if you update the path). I've fixed this problem by removing
it (since there's a new one placed by the new eclipse plugin anyway).

I hope this helps others that are in the same misleading predicament.
