[android-developers] Initiating Control transfer to HID USB device

Does Android usb manager gives the capability to initiate the control

 or

Is there any other non-native way to do the same in Android.I wanted to
send custom report to HID USB device's *top level collection* and get the
response out of it on the control endpoint.

Re: [android-developers] Read directly from external HID connected via USB OTG

2015-01-14 Thread s.rawat
How the bar code scanner is connected to Linux Box?via USB?
if so you can give a try using the HID APIS (hid-raw or libusb
implementation)

here : http://developer.mbed.org/cookbook/USBHID-C-bindings

It ha a hidtest.cpp code which you can modify according to your device.The
readme and build instructions are there inside the git link in the above

 Now we have to write our own app to handle the scans and we were wondering
 how the app would read the input from the scanner.

 The barcode scanner beeps to confirm that it has read a code so we
 don't need an EditText or similar widget to echo the barcode value on the
 screen. Our app will do a lookup based on the code provided and display
 more details

 We've connected this barcode scanner to a linux box in the past and were
 able to open the low level /dev/... corresponding to the HID in
 exclusive mode to get the data. This gave our app exclusive access to
 the data from the  scanner.

 What do we have to do in Android to read the scanner data ? Thks.

Interesting.I don't know much about this but as at the same level you are I
would have checked first wether the Samsung Galaxy S3 has a USB OTG sw
support or not.You can try this by inserting a USB keyboard into it or a
Mouse and see whether it is working.
I think it has :
*USB:*USB 2.0 client, 480Mbit/s
micro-USB

What you need is

*USB:*USB 2.0 host/client, 480Mbit/s
USB A

 Standard gyroscopes provide raw rotational data without any filtering
 or correction for noise and drift (bias). In practice, gyroscope noise
 and drift will introduce errors that need to be compensated for. You
 usually determine the drift (bias) and noise by monitoring other
 sensors, such as the gravity sensor or accelerometer.

 The null pointer exception, however, is not. Use Log.d statements at the
 point where it appears to crash. Put Log statements all over the place
 in that area. If a variable is assigned somewhere near the crash, Log
 it. If it's used, Log it. Sooner or later, you'll find something like,

   TAG: Currently in [method], just set foo to 42; foo = null

 (where TAG is whatever you set for TAG, e.g., initials, etc.).

 When you find that, you've either found the problem, or at the very
 least, you'll be very, very close

I have done quiet a research on this.If you are looking for drawing
pie,histograms, bar or line graphs for with 3D look.I beliver ther is not
such library available.You can use aichart for some 2D charts.Or final
solution is you can start using the google Chart APIS , they are very googd
but they all are in web view and you need to have internet available on the
phone/emulator.

Re: [android-developers] 3D Charts

2012-04-01 Thread s.rawat
There is a google group http://groups.google.com/group/achartengine?pli=1for
achartengine http://www.achartengine.org/, lots of good code is floating
around there you can join it.
But I am afraid you will not get the 3D charting anywhere else.
if you thought of using the Adobe Flex (using AIR 3.1 or higher) you may
get tremendous fullfillment of the requirement you are having in your head.
have a look at this , you will get teh idea of what I am talking about, but
sadly you have to code in Action Script and not in Andorid PL.

have a look at these http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ba6oG6WmagM, this

There are plenty - have you tried googling about irobot tablet, UBI Slate
.They are coming with no brands on them, except some tiny sticker which you
can remove at ease anytime.But only problem is that they don't support the
usual way of debugging.You can adb them but via wireless not with the USB
cable.

downloading overnight.It is happening daily from past few weeks.Is there
any way I can download the ICS source code form some other site or any
trick to remove downloading unwanted tags by editing the manifest.xml file.

I have come to know from JBQ mails that its size is twice as big as that of
Ginger Bread AOSP .

Plz throw a link from where i can download the tar ball for ICS (4.0.1)

MIFARE 4K card on reader
ATR : 3B 8F 80 01 80 4F 0C A0 00 00 03 06 03 00 02 00 00 00 00 69

Earlier with another Card I was getting -- *3B 8A 80 01 00 31 C1 73 C8 40
00 00 90 00 90* and I read in this group that it is for emulated Card Smart
MX.
I wanted to know
(1) Can the two Card readers produce different ATR for the same card?If
yes , Why so?
(2) Can I get the notification or any type of logs when the read /write
transaction is happening.or do I have to put the LOG messages , preferably
in the NFC framework files.
(3) Is it possible to READ(not Write ) the SE element(i.e Mifare 4k )
memory Area using the APDU(I think this is same as what others have
mentioned in this group)

 FF 00 00 00 04 D4 4A 01 00

- which shows no NFC tag.

and 63 00 for rest of the of the commands.

I am using the same reader(ACR 122U ) as suggested by you.

Is it possible to share your Nexus S Images, so that I could try them out
here and confirm whether the files I have generated by compiling the
Android 2.3.4-r1 source code with the card emulation patches , is correct
or not.

What is the significance of this :

I just looked through my code and found that I also explicitly disabled
ISO 14443-4 activation (before polling) using this command:

I am looking into writing onto it but so far I am getting 63 00
response(which means error)
I am trying to load., authenticate the keys and then read -write and then
read back from the SmartMX (Secure Element).

*Here is my list of commands : *

FF82006006 // load keys
FF86050100026000 // authenticate
FFB210 //read sector 2
FFD6000210 // write sector 2
FFB210 // read sector 2 again

I followed this --
http://www.nfc-reader.com/NFC-smart-card-reader/ACR122-API-Manual/API_ACR122.pdf

My main aim is to get the notification programatically or any logs that
comes out as the result of doing this.I will try sending these by combining
them in APDUs from the application code.I think that will be possible.If
successfull I will plan the next step.PLz assist me on this.

 Well, options are enabled in cascade. The problem comes because the
 first option is not enabled. Besides, if you look at the Wireless
 Settings
 screen, there is only the NFC Settings option, but not the one that
 lets
 you enalbe/disable NFC directly from that screen. That is beacuse the Nfc

 some light.

 Instead of compiling the whole image again I suggest you to compile
 just the Nfc.apk system application and replace the original one. You
 must
 remount /system partition in read/write mode and overwrite the apk inside
 /system/app. Then you must kill the nfc service by means of DDMS view of
 the ADT (you must connnect the phone in debug mode and since you have

Hi  Michael ,
You mean page 12 , section *5.3 Reading Binary Block*.
I tried that, i found as soon as I send the command the green light on the
card reader turns Red for the time being(which I fear is some operation
failed signal) , accompanied by the 63 00 response .I am using the *TestResMan
*tool.Even though it shows Command is sent successfully and response
is received in XXX secs.
Can you tell me the name of card reader where we cant see
this behavior (reader automatically performed protocol selection up to ISO
14443-4 / APDU layer)

 Correct, that's the PC/SC ATR for the SmartMX.

  I am looking into writing onto it but so far I am getting 63 00
  response(which means error)
  I am trying to load., authenticate the keys and then read -write and
  then read back from the SmartMX (Secure Element).

  *_Here is my list of commands : _*

  FF82006006// load keys
  FF86050100026000// authenticate
  FFB210//read sector 2
  FFD6000210// write sector 2
  FFB210 // read sector 2 again

  I followed this --  http://www.nfc-reader.com/
  NFC-smart-card-reader/ACR122-API-Manual/API_ACR122.pdf

 I would guess, that the reader automatically performed protocol
 selection up to ISO 14443-4 / APDU layer. In that state it is not
 possible to access the MIFARE part of the chip with reader-side MIFARE
 emulation. You could try the example on page 12ff of this document.

 Michael

I dont htink it emulated the card.Does it.For 1k/4k Mifare Classic Card it
has to be 00 01(Mifare 1k) or 00 02(Mifare 1k) instead of *FF 40* .PLz
correct my understanding.I have used the patches to enable to the phone in

applied using teh android SDKs or do we have to write some native
application.

 Great work.

 Obviously there is something wrong with the compilation. Have you tried to
 connect in debug mode the phone to a computer with Android Development
 Tools and see what the traces look like. They may offer a clue. My
 suspicion is that NfcService is crashing. I will review my notes tomorrow
 if I find something different to the steps you followed to build the image.

[android-developers] SENDING YUV-TO-JPEG CONVERTED BUFFER AS A BITMAP from JNI to Android code...plzzz help...Not a Noob , Am i??

2011-12-17 Thread s.rawat
HI,
I have been trying hard from past four nights to get this thing work but so
far not able to do that.I have taken and modified few of the code from the
ndk-sample(in the samples directory in the ndk r7) for plasma -sample for
passing and mapping the bitmap from the JNI.
Following is my code snippet [?]:

*Android : *

#this code is running in a thread

   Bitmap   mBitmap = Bitmap.createBitmap(320,240,
Bitmap.Config.RGB_565);
   renderPlasma(mBitmap);

#this code is running in a thread

*Native : *

Java_my_package_name_DrawCanvas_renderPlasma(JNIEnv * env, jobject  obj,
jobject bitmap)
{
AndroidBitmapInfo  info;
unsigned char**pixels;
intret =10;

if ((ret = AndroidBitmap_getInfo(env, bitmap, info))  0) {

return;
}

if (info.format != ANDROID_BITMAP_FORMAT_RGB_565) {

return;
}

if ((ret = AndroidBitmap_lockPixels(env, bitmap, pixels))  0) {
return;

}

/* Now fill the values with a nice little plasma */
fill_plasma(info, pixels );

AndroidBitmap_unlockPixels(env, bitmap);//i am hoping that the bitmap
has been mapped to the contents of pixel at this point.

}

struct vdIn *pvideoBuff = 0;//v4l2 structure which contains the raw YUV data
void fill_plasma( AndroidBitmapInfo* info, unsigned char* pxl )
{
unsigned char* buf = (unsigned char* )malloc(pvideoBuff-framesizeIn);
uvc_startCapture(pvideoBuff);//v4l2 function which returns the raw yuc
data form the uvc compliant webcamera
compress_yuyv_to_jpeg(pvideoBuff, buf, pvideoBuff-framesizeIn, 80,
pvideoBuff-formatIn); //method to convert raw data into jpeg format- Quiet
popular code on the web
pxl = buf;//i am thinking the pxl will have now all the contents of
the jpeg converted buffer

}

//the bitmap being returned from the native code has to be drawn on the
bitmap continuously.
canvas.drawBitmap(mBitmap, 0,0, null);

I suspect that pixel being a 2D array , I have to assisgn each array
elements from the buf.Plz correct me or slap a rockstar reply to this
problem.
Best Rgds and Thanks in advance
Softy

[android-developers] ADVICE/SUPPORT : UVC Camera on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1- No device Node??

2011-12-01 Thread s.rawat
HI,

somebody plz tell/advice how I can achieve it and access the device Node or
at-least get it created.

Following is the log on dmesg :

 hub 1-0:1.0 unable to enumerate USB device on port 1 ,
 usb 1-1:device v0ac8 p3420 is not supported

 On My Laptop I get this output on Dmesg :

also i can see the camera getting blinked on connection which proves that
it is getting the power-supply and getting connected with the system.

I think there is a support for UVC USB devices in the kernel (not sure)
otherwise I am ready with the Kernel For Samsung Tab 10.1 (GT-7500

 First, there is no cities array in your JSON.

 Second, you parse the string into a JSONArray... then convert it back
 into a string.

 If you want to iterate over the JSONArray, iterate over the JSONArray.

[android-developers] HOW TO : Fetch Resource ID of the images from the /Data folder for imageView.setImageResource()

2011-11-29 Thread s.rawat
HI,
This question is related to get the gallery View from the images stored in
the /data or sdcard folder.

I have modified the source
codehttp://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-gallery.htmlfrom
the android.developer site for gallery view of images kept in Drawable
folder.

To display the same images on Click I have modified it as follows, to view
the image on click :

public void onItemClick(AdapterView? parent, View v, int
position, long id) {
  //  Toast.makeText(HelloGallery.this,  + position,
Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();

 ImageView imageView = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.image1);

imageView.setImageResource(mImageIds[position]);

 Setting the Image IDs in the setImageResource.This is simple as the
images are static and are already present in the Drawable folder.

Here is the code snippet(main parts) for the above :

public class HelloGallery extends Activity implements  {
  private Integer[] mImageIds = {
R.drawable.sample_1,
R.drawable.sample_2,
R.drawable.sample_3,

};

Gallery gallery = (Gallery) findViewById(R.id.gallery1);
gallery.setAdapter(new ImageAdapter(this));

gallery.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener()
{
public void onItemClick(AdapterView? parent, View v, int
position, long id) {
  //  Toast.makeText(HelloGallery.this,  + position,
Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();

   ImageView imageView = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.image1);

   imageView.setImageResource(mImageIds[position]);

}

  public class ImageAdapter  extends BaseAdapter {
 public View *getView*(int position, View convertView,
ViewGroup parent) {

   ImageView imageView = new ImageView(mContext);
*   imageView.setImageResource(mImageIds[position]);*
   imageView.setLayoutParams(new Gallery.LayoutParams(150, 120));
   imageView.setScaleType(ImageView.ScaleType.FIT_XY);
   imageView.setBackgroundResource(mGalleryItemBackground);

   return imageView;
}

}
 But now I want the images to be picked from the SD card or /data folder
instead from the Drawable f http://folder.isolder.
So is it possible to get the * resource id of the files(JPEG, PNG ) so that
I can reuse the above code.*

Other way could be using bitmap for setting the view of all the images in
the /data (Not sure)

public View *getView*(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {

File imgFile = new  File(*/data/1321296131284.jpg*);

 Bitmap myBitmap = BitmapFactory.decodeFile(imgFile.getAbsolutePath());

ImageView imageView = new ImageView(mContext);

 // imageView.setImageResource(mImageIds[position]);

imageView.setImageBitmap(myBitmap);

imageView.setLayoutParams(new Gallery.LayoutParams(150, 120));

imageView.setScaleType(ImageView.ScaleType.FIT_XY);

imageView.setBackgroundResource(mGalleryItemBackground);

return imageView;

}

But I am not getting the thumbnails of the images by this method nor
the image on clicking it.I am getting a grey thumbnail out of it.

 PLz suggest/advice to achieve this.

Plz advice.
Rgds,
Saurabh

[android-developers] USB Adapter For Samsung Tab 10.1 Running Ginger-bread !

HI,
Has Any one gone through this post :
http://androidcommunity.com/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-usb-adapter-for-all-your-usb-hosting-needs-20110615/

My Question is has any one tried using this adapter and can we plug-in any
USB device (Pen Drive, Card Reader, etc )via this adapter.
I tried it on Samsung Galaxy Tab(Running Ginger Bread) but the USB device
is not getting powered up(no light on connection) , may be because it has
Gingerbread and it has no support for USB devices but IN HoneyComb support
it is there and I may see the USB device Powered UP if I use the HoneyComb
Tablet.
Any comments,
Rgds,
Saurabh

[android-developers] URGENT HELP : Bypassing Default Camera Viewfinder

2011-11-17 Thread s.rawat
Hi,
I am trying to by-pass the default camera viewfinder and making an
application which will give the Surfaceview some continuous jpeg frames
(instead of getting it from Camera view finder)., but I have realized its
quiet a gigantic task and I have to modify the files in the
framework/core/jni(native calls), framework/core/java and services and
client as well and even the CameraHardware.cpp for this
as Surfaceview(Surfaceholder instance) connected with the mCamera
instance (as the fully initialized SurfaceHolder is to be passed to the
setPreviewDisplay()(which is connectd with the Camera Hardware code).So i
wanted to ask these questions:

(1) Is it possible to bypass the default camera view finder at the
application (android application code) level.
(2) I am able to generate the video by passing the continuous jpeg frames to
* image view*(running in a thread being spawned form the main thread until
i press stop), can I also in some way pass these frames to Surface
holder(surface view so that I can see the video in the viewfinder- my
understanding is that Surface holder is responsible for the viewfinder on
the camera)
(3) Any other way to implement this without delving deep into the Android
framework.
Plz suggest .

Re: [android-developers] Re: URGENT HELP : Bypassing Default Camera Viewfinder

2011-11-17 Thread s.rawat
Hi Veritatis.
I completely agree with you on the formatting part (I have the byte array
which I can convert into any format and I am doing it via bitmap only)

Here is the code :

//initializing the compression and Byte Stream Part

ByteArrayOutputStream bs = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
YuvImage yuv_image = new YuvImage(*buffer1*,20 , 640, 480, null);

// Doing the Compression part

Rect rect = new Rect(0, 0, 640, 480);
yuv_image.compressToJpeg(rect, 70, bs);

//Finalzing the image writing part as JPEG

outStream = new FileOutputStream(String.format(/my/image/location));
outStream.write(bs.toByteArray());

 jpgView= (ImageView)findViewById(R.id.jpgview1);

//Bitmap Part

 BitmapFactory.Options options = new BitmapFactory.Options();
 options.inSampleSize = 1;
  Bitmap bm = BitmapFactory.decodeFile(/my/image/location);
  bm =
BitmapFactory.decodeByteArray(baos.toByteArray(),0,bs.toByteArray().length);

*bs is of type -- ByteArrayOutputStream
and jpgView -- ImageView*

If I supply the continous frames buffer1 to I YuvImage will be able to see
the video on the ImageView.

So now instead of previewing it on Imageview I wanted to Utilize the
existing camera Viewfinder(Surface Holder- Surface-Jsurface..) to preview
image and videos but to do that I dont know whether I have to tweak
Framework/base/* camera files or that can be done on the Application level
only(the android application - and not Application framework)

One neat hack will be to preview everything on some media player(not via
using android media framework - that can be but not sure wether it will fit
as it is tagged with the camera internally)so that it will give the user
the impression that the viewfinder is turned ON though the media player
will be ON displaying the continous frames and not the Camera Viewfinder.

PS : Title of this post is about giving the frames(Dummy as for now) to the
Camera ViewFinder.Just a summary :) !
Rgds,
Saurabh

What continuous jpeg frames? The only 'continuous' frames in the
viewfinder are the preview frames, and those are not jpeg: they are
YCrCb at 15 fps. Unless you make your own jpeg out of YCrBb, but why
bother? You need a Bitmap for the Canvas for SurfaceView anyway: you
may as well use RGB or ARGB instead of JPEG (see Bitmap.Config). Then
no conversion is necessary. In fact, it is not useful with a Canvas,
since it is not among the formats listed on Bitmap.Config.

 Now if you are willing to live with the Camera object's preview, you
 can let it display the frames, but capture the frames also for your
 own processing using the Camera.setPreviewCallback() method to
 register your own handler for each frame.

 I realize this does not do exactly what you asked for, but it is a lot
 less work than what you are proposing, and gives you much of what you
 probably really need.

  would like to be able to capture video and have it set to recycle on
  itself after a set period of time.

  For instance, if I determine that I want a 30 minute circular buffer,
  it would be nice if the 31st minute of captured video began
  overwriting minute number 1. During playback, I would like the 30
  minutes to appear seamless even across the circle back to the
  beginning.

  What is the best way to capture video in Android and process it
  through a circular buffer? I fear that Android, being designed
  predominately for mobile devices, may make this tricky for me. Is
  there a convenient way to do this with MediaRecorder?

  While this isn't actually my application, it is similar enough that it
  will suffice for example: Say I want to hook a video camera to the
  analog inputs (although I recognize digital would be better for this
  scenario). I want it to only record the last 30 minutes worth of
  activity, so that at any point I can review the last 30 minutes of
  what has transpired, and it will always be the most recent.

  Thanks,
  Joseph Irvine

[android-developers] How To(Interesting) : Cross Compiling and Using Gtreamer Commands on the Android Phones/Tablets

2011-11-04 Thread s.rawat
Hi,
I know there has been stagrefright and open core inside the Android
Multimedia Framework.But Now I am trying to use the audio/video streaming
functionalities using the *gstreamer* commands(as well c application for
them)  in the adb shell.

For example wheni pluggedin a web cam in my ubuntu machine and issue this
command -- *gst-launch-0.10 autovideosrc !
video/x-raw-yuv,framerate=\(fraction\)30/1,width=640,height=480 !
ffmpegcolorspace ! autovideosink* while connecting the web cam to my linux
machine i will be able to see the web cam turned on, now I want to simulate
the same on the android phone and issue the same command(with some
modification and also by cross compiling it with respect to the andrid
phone or tablet)

I have got this
linkhttp://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/wiki/GstreamerAndroid_InstallInstructionsfor
compiling the gstreamer for Nexus S .Before get to start i want to ask
:
(1) Has any one tried cross compiling the *gstreamer* for any android phone
and using it (application or via commands)
(2) Is it possible to compile it using the ndk tool chain and put the *
gstreamer* code inside our android application by creatign a shared library
out of it and loading and using the functionalities in the app code.

I want to request :

*(1) For any tutorial /blog link if you have doen this before*

Thanks and advance,I will keep adding to this post my work so far
plz assit and send your inputs

[android-developers] Interfacing logitech Web Cam to the android phone

2011-11-02 Thread s.rawat
HI,
How can i interface the Logitech web cam with the exiting Android Phone( I
am trying to root the nexus S ) and playing around with android camera
framework.I have to make the custom zimage (wihch I could do) but have to
provide the functionality that the camera view finder by default will take
the view from the web cam and not by the camera hw of the phone.Any pointer
to this , where to start and how to proceed.I think I should be studying
the camera architecture first , like how the raw data is passed from the
camera sensor to the camera application(i think camera.apk) via V4l2
interface. Plz provide the direction.Am i going right?

 Linkify.addLinks(string, Linkify.WEB_URLS);
 myTextView.setText(string);

[android-developers] Embedding a Project made form Adobe FLEX inside an android project in Eclipse.Is it possible?

2011-08-29 Thread s.rawat
HI ALL,
I have created a Adobe flex
http://coenraets.org/blog/2011/07/mobiledashboard-for-ios-android-and-playbook-source-code-available-on-github/project
which is running well on the FLEX emulator for android phones (I have tested
it on google nexus one ).Now I want to use this project inside my eclipse
project and want to create an application(.apk) to run on the android
emulator.Is it possible.I am trying for past few hours , googled too
but didn't find convincing answer.Plz let me know if it is possible with the
possible documentation links.The reason why I want to do this is that with
the FLEX only i am able to do some graphical implementations but those
graphs are based on the data which I have to take from the android
application.More over the FLEX application is all in xml(mxml to be precise)
is it possible to pass the data from the android application to these
xmls(one way is i can programmaticaly create these mxml and place it under
the FLEX project directory)but then again the problem is that
I don't know whether I cam embedded/Integrate/combine a FLEX project with an
android project.Plz assist.

[android-developers] Copying Application Files on android device and apk versioning Information

2011-08-10 Thread s.rawat
HI,
How we can make the apk(on installing) copy the application files on the
device .Do we have invoke the script from the application to copy
application files(test files,read me, release notes, data files) or is there
any other way for example any default folder we have to put the files in
and while installing the apk those files will get copied.
Also is there a way to provide the versioning to the apk so that when we
make some changes to the apk and install it it will incrementally update the
existing one.
What other benefits can there be for providing the versioning information
embedded inside the apk.

if any one has developed for windows , they can understand the versioning
and application file copying(which we used to put under the file system)
which on installing the application will copy the contents on the program
files /application directory.

PLz dont frown on me if I am mentioning windows here in android context, i
know both are different in all sense..

[android-developers] Re: Enabling root permissions/functioanlities from the Android application or a folder in Android filesystem with default Permission

2011-07-28 Thread s.rawat
Hi Chris ,
Thanks for the reply it worked pretty well.
The /data folder in the android file system has the default application
folder where the application specific read write happens
they generally looks like this :
*/data/data/my.package.name/app_my custom folder/*
**directory=getDir(fodlername, Context.MODE_WORLD_WRITEABLE |
Context.MODE_WORLD_READABLE);

and this directory has been used to do the file ops.

*Also if I want to the same in the SD card is there any way to gain the
permission and then do it on that.ideally once the permission is gained we
can do the normal file operation just like i did above for the android file
system*

Thanks ,

 Yes, android provides an internal storage directory for applications and
 also a related place for them to create sqlite databases.

 At the java level, finding the appropriate path is handled automatically by
 some of the typical functions, but you can determine it with
 Context.getDir() and Context.getFileDir() - if you want to do something in
 the NDK, probably call one of those from java and pass the result to your
 ndk routines as a java string, where you would convert it to a native string
 for the posix file functions.

 Using root access is to be avoided as it's not available on unmodified
 devices, and should cause some due suspicion (why does this app need
 that?) on the part of the user even where it is. It's also entirely
 outside the scope of the ndk list.

[android-developers] Enabling root permissions/functioanlities from the Android application or a folder in Android filesystem with default Permission

2011-07-26 Thread s.rawat
HI all Again,
I am makaing an application which performs the memory(file read write edit
modify) and cpu(executing comples alogortihms of mathematics) opeartions
also similiarly I am doing the I/O operations on the device memory(file
write read on sqlite DB).I want the root permission for copyingm
certain files on the memory and IO (test files) for that I am doing push
commands at the adb shell and doing chmod to a particular directory (/data)
 where Iam copying the tets files.This is happening in root mode only , so I
am doign this for two pruporses :

*(1) Enabling the read write permission on the device memory and for IO
operation*
*(2) for producing the log files at the end which will get copied on the
device memory.*

But for this I Have to manually to it on the shell.To automate it I ahve
written a script and trying to run it from the application level but since
it is running under application(user level context) I am not able to enable
to do it as I am not doing it on the shell as a root 9 as I was doing it
manually earlier).How do i get arround with it?How can i do it frmo the
application level?Or doing manually at the shell prompt is the only way I
can do it.I want it to automate so that user doesnt have to do this and he
simply run the android application which internally does this
opeartions(more root like operations, chmod, copying test file etc)

here is my script :

chmod 777 /data

adb push /my/workspace/myproject/jni/mymodule/data/myfolderonPC/mytestfile1
/data/myfolderonDevice/
adb push /my/workspace/myproject/jni/mymodule/data/myfolderonPC/mytestfile2
/data/myfolderonDevice/
adb push /my/workspace/myproject/jni/mymodule/data/myfolderonPC/mytestfile3
/data/myfolderonDevice/
adb push /my/workspace/myproject/jni/mymodule/data/myfolderonPC/mytestfile4
/data/myfolderonDevice/
adb push /my/workspace/myproject/jni/mymodule/data/myfolderonPC/mytestfile5
/data/myfolderonDevice/

I need above steps to be automated by the application wihtout doing it
manually.

 *Other way round for this problem is -- Is there any folder in the android
file system where i could create a database(sqlite) and do the file
operation(read write ) in this case I dont have to enable the chmod
permission .*

Plz assit, help, groan..

HI
I am developing a simple c application and interfacing it with the android

operation on sqlite db.I wanted to know the way to handle the errors
-exception at the c level.Shall i pass the error codes to the
application(android) level or shall i do it on the c level only.I am
thinking to pass the error codes to the android application and decode it
(creating a simlliar enums at the android application level same as at the c
level in the errorcodes.h) and then pop up the alert dialog box to the
user.Plz suggets a better design pattern for this.

  its very useful.I am able to get the charts now.But I want more
 proffessional look to the charts.I want them to be 3 D and free to rotate
 on my finger touch.Is there a way for it , atleast for making them in 3D.--

 Hello.

 Try to drop the windows mindset when coding for android, in Linux
 there is no such thing as a dll (as for as I know).

 There are API's for creating graphs:
 http://android.arnodenhond.com/components/graphview
 and http://androidplot.com/wiki/Home

 are just two I found with a very quick google search...

 Hope this helps,
 Fred

  There are probably others, but those were what showed up in the first
  10 seconds of searching on Google.

   HI All,
   is there any charting dll or library for android with the sample code

   forms

   charts as well.
   Is there any such library for android wth the sample codes.
