[arr] Re: which arr's songs has the best violin piece?

I think in taal ARR used violin orchestra extensively. Also other 
songs are Bombay theme, Aye ajnabi.. And who can forget that amazing 
violin piece in last part of 'Golden Era' theme(Warriors of heaven and 
earth).(It again comes in "Mountain") Man, I never heard such a tune 
in any international artist. Anybody want to comment on this?

 Rahmaniacs,

  I guess everybody knows that rahman is doing Shyam
Benegals' next movie 'Chamki'. it is being said that
musical score for that movie is beyond the music that
has ever come in Bollywood. Lets hope it's true.

 Also i guess we need to look for 'London Dreams' by
Raj Kumar Santoshi. This one album could c us Rahman
collabarating with UK - Indian musicians like Richi
Rich, Talvin Singh etc as the movie is based on Asian
music artist in UK. 

 I know that there Sivaji, Guru to look forward for
but i feel the above 2 movies is where ARR will
experiment a lot with new sounds.

Hai guys, I am now listening to godfather songs n its really mindblowing. again our boss proved that he has his own class that showed in these songs. I really love the song of deepavali. i really hooked on it as well as other songs. Now we must understand that its really worth for what we're waiting for a long time. But guys just to share n to get opinions of all of u regarding ARR n HJ. As we know ARR is on top of others n HJ is nothing to compare with ARR. (Even Yuvan). But recently we seeing that HJ's songs are picking up greatly even the songs are really trash. Sometimes we hv seen our boss overthrown by HJ. Example when Anbe Aruyire released, all the songs are really great n picking up the chart but when totti jaya n ghajini were released the songs of Ah Aah slowly got down n suddenly dissapeared from the charts. People now talking great about ghajini's songs n HJ. As im concern,
as a true fan of ARR, im scared this will happen again to godfather. The songs of vettaiyaadu vilayaadu,V V (kamal movie) which HJ is a composer will be releasing in 1 or 2 week time. Im scared that when its released people will put behind godfather n will go for V V. I dont want this to be happen again as we know we all waited for this godfather songs to be released n to enjoy it. Im sure we're enjoying it but how about in the future when HJ album released? As a true fans, pls we all come up n do something so that our boss's godfather rockz the music world n stay at no. 1 forever unbeated by others. teach a lesson to HJ, Yuvan n others saying that ARR is droping down n became 2nd after HJ as there are people who are claiming that. Please guys post ur comments n suggestions how to overcome this situation. I want to proved that our boss is still no.1 n will be forever. do reply.

hi to all true rahman fans...
this message is to express my feelings and agony to u all..
i m a hostelite doing engineering...i m an ardent rahman fan since i 
was 10 years old and have been buying all rahman albums since then on 
the very day of its release..during these years i ve become matured 
enough to realis the fact that rahman music will take time to grow in 
u and that he delivers fresh goods always without a single trace of 
his previously scored music..i ve also observed ,accepted and 
appreciated the transition of rahmans music during the years and the 
maturity attained by his music in recent times which was not accepted 
by many..
many of them claiming to be true rahman fans say hat rahman should 
score in the same way as he did in 90 s..they say that there is a 
definite reduction in  quality in his music recently..they judge an 
album immediately after listening just once to it and declare it as 
poor..
i got similar response to a aa,ayitha ezhuthu...it really tested my 
patience when they did all this...i tried to explain to them that 
rahman s music takes time to grow but once it enters u the music 
never leaves u and forms a permanent impact in u..they never 
lsten..they claim that a good song should catch u instantly...they 
give a lot of hype to music directors like harris and claim that he 
has replaced rahman.,.i felt that the music is nice and catchy 
allright...but where is the mesmerising nature of rahmans music in it?
where is the fresh and refreshing feel of a rahman song in it?many 
mds have earned good names by just recyclin old hits of rahman and 
they are proclaimed to be succesors of rahman...
all these things seriously tests the patience of a rahman fan..
i had similar experiences when i bought godfather..i listened to it 
alone ..i first felt it was fine ..as i kept listening,it grew in me 
and i got addicted to it as any other rahman album..i ve already 
listened to  the songs for about 30 times(every day 10 times!!)my 
friends ridiculed it once they lisened to it and called me crazy for 
claiming gf to be great...it was mentally tough for me to listen and 
overcome all these comments  and critisisms..
i also appreciated mangal pandeyand tehzeeb which many claim,are the 
worst albums of rahman..but i was able to find the refreshing and 
interesting things an these albums..i dont understand y others arent 
able to...
i m sure all of u would have had similar experiences...i would like u 
all to share it in this post...
with a heavy heart and mind which are currently haunted by gf music,

As they promised was the show in 3D as in London it was not.. they blamed it on 
the Bombay
flood... they said the flood washed the equipments off... this was not the 
excuse of the
organisers here in London.. it was the excuse of Rapport (ARR's international 
concert
organisers).. The stage looks similar as it was in Wembley, London.

silmilarly,in innisai original version,in the first stanza,after 
naresh iye finishes and the ladies start singing innisai line,instead 
of mirudangam,there is a soft drum beat which blends with the song 
beautifully..
in katril,when the beat starts and after sadna sings sahiba 2 times 
there is an interestin additional programming in the beat which makes 
your foot tap for it..

Hii U r right. Mehndi Hassan's Ghazal "ab ke hum biuchhade' is based on Raaga Bhoopkali or Vasanthi. I dunno abt the Malyalam song...but there's a resemblance in Theeyil...Good that u cud identify the similarities. My top three would be:

* E Ajnabi - Dil Se (Poongkaatrilae - Uyire)
* Bombay Theme
* Veerapandi Kotayilae - Thiruda Thiruda (This is not exactly a 'violin 
piece but the use of voilin is amazing)

I always wish Rahman used violin more often.

hey fellows ..iam an a r rahman fan ever since roja happened . and i was very much impressed by minnale , samurai and few other compositions too ... infact i fancy hj too..coz i believe hj has got some talent ... ( if u now start comparing him with arr , stop reading now. others carry on)

hj is a good music director .no doubt on that .. if he resembles a r rahman no one can help it including him.. coz guys .. when sehwag plays a good cover drive people say "hey that looks like tendulkar "

this is because tendulkar has plated it perfectly and now if anyone wants to do that perfectly he cant help resembling tendukar while doing that...
now - i have heard "pathu viral" atleast 50 times . and i have now heard "katril oru" more than that
and i say " the resemblance is because of a loop beat and NOTHING ELSE. i actually wondered first time when i heard katril beacuse i have been fed with the news that it resembles pathu viral and i could not find any similarity ...

katril is a great song and it has nothing to do with pathu viralinfact it resembles another song from a r r " nee than en dhesiya gheetham " for the loop beat
so please hear katril more times and when u do it more than 25 times u will understand that katril has nothing to do with pathu viral or nee than en desiya geetham.

I see some guys not happy with godfather... Remember guys..the director of movie is K.S Ravikumar,the one who combined with our boss for movies Muthu and Padiyappa. Muthu and Padiyappa--had little class of ARR but had blockbuster songs of Rahman. K.S Ravi Kumar is a person who is more of a mass oriented director,not like mani ratnam or shankar. Rahman has given music According to wat the director needs. Muthu and Padiyappa didnt have the class...may be some songs..but other songs were more of mass oriented songs and according to situation. Innisai - Like Kannodu Kaanbethalam from JEans , so it is late 90s 
trend..during this period ARR made commercially patterned songs using 
Traditional tamil carnatic. Coincidentally there is a remix track ..
the last time a remix was done was in Uyire..around the late 90s

Ilamai - Post 2000s techno trends

Kama Karaiylie - the post 2000 Trash which was ouput by other MDs for 
Dhanush and Vijay movies...though it sounds like ARR song..it has the 
influencne of the other trash like Manmatha Rasa..Maybe ARR wanted to 
bank in on the trash craze which plagued the early 2000s. No comment 
on this one

Hi Arun you are very much right ,
I too had the same feelings like u ,
I was actually listening only to those peppy english songs
and always neglected indian songs and felt they were not very innovative
always had some simillarity in songs
and once i listened to rahmans songs roja was my all time favorite
the song is never ending pleasure to ears  giving u peace
form whatever situation of mind u are
I really feel that Rahman has the touch of music that many
MD's are lacking   by my understanding  the genre of music
he is capable of  innovating is limitless
I did.n know hindi   as i was a tamilian
but since i listened all his songs i somehow also learnt the language
may be if his song got released in telugu ,malayalam,kannada
probably i wud have learnt them also,

I cannot understand how he mastered  all kinds of music
Pop ,rock pakka classical, tamil folk ,even kutthu,
Punjabi (Legend og\f bhagat sing was amazing),

Chinese music the flute, malayalam drums ,taal  kind of fusion,
Good party remixes (fanaa)
when MD's define their own style  and are limited in mind
Rahman has broken all barriers of sounds

I once heard that Sandeep Chowta  fav song was Dil se sung by rahman


above all  his humbleness and kind heartedness
makes me feel great to be his fan

And my fav song in GF is teeyil  the lyrics along with
his rendering shattered  me  oh man again   a masterpiece
I request him atleast to sing one song in all forthcomming albums
Have u noticed he always selects songs that are really touching

1.Ye jo des hai mera
2.Vande matram all (esp only u)
3.Dil se
4.Vidiyum pookal (Kannathil  Mutamittal)
5.chale chalo (Lagaan)
6.Oh yuva yuva
7.Luka chupi
8.Saathiya  Mera yar mila de

As we are his fans we get all kind of music
not just limited to a circle but wide and infinite .as
the universe

sadhuvidavaa amudhe sadhuvida vaa amudhe line and 
taal se taal mila taal se taal mil sound kinda similar but the blend 
is beautiful and a treat to the ears. very grandiose and this is my 
pick of the album as it touches me deeply.

When ARR stepped in did the world say IR is overthrown? no it did respect IR and marked AR as a contemporary. But AR grew as a trend setter to the whole world and now ARR's music is a religion to the world. What HJ is trying to recycle what AR did long back fidling with the loops. But he is using heavily(and now recycling so early) his sound bank.
What he can just be is like ARR, he cannot be Harris... Just go back to history only ARR is successful crossing the South Indian music and is equally respected in Bollywood. Harris was called and that was the end. But Bollywood MD still fear for ARR and the ppl in the other half are still curious what will be ARR's next.
What makes Raj Kumar Santoshi, Subhash Ghai, Shyam Benegal and a huge list of directors to still wait for ARR. Do you think they dont have options?On 2/21/06,

hi arun, u r right buddy. it happens for all albums. but the verdict, the albums grows on u like anything. i happened in RDB. it was obvious. i very well noted those who crticized RDB finally ended up praising the album. i can quote many examples like this. dont worry. then will after the movie releases they will praise GF.

[arr] GF worth what we have waited for

Hi,After listening to the songs I feel that the movie is more on the coastal background and probably there may be some from the Mumbai Docks nexus, because Kamma & Kaatril has more usage of the typical insturment and beat patterns of this region.
I always liked the way ARR composed Taal se taal mila song, the reason being the way the 2nd line ends saying taal se taal mila and guess what in Innisai song the ending note Izhakayil va amudhai..(pls correct me I dont know tamil) he does it once again. I feel that its very complex to execute that pattern.
Innisai is one such song where in the listener will have an experience from carnatic to Tappanguttu, to WOHE kind of sound then to the music for North Indian dance( dont know the name) and back to Bharathanatyam... and much more.. Just curious to watch this song.
I liked the HaHaHaHallo in illamai (non remix), just keep repeating for Hallo

Yeah... Nathiye ending piece always gives me goosebumps. Nathiye's interludes also have some nice violin pieces. Then in the Orchestral Version of Desh Ki Mitti there is a piece...starts around 00:27... real heart-melting stuff that is...reminds me of Schindler's List theme...really classy work. In Uyiram Neeye (Pavitra)...from 3:09 to 4:45, in your right ear (listen it with good headphones), there is violin playing same notes along with the Unni's singing... whole 1:30 min of violin piece... I think this is the first time ARR had done a kuthu pattu in the style 
of the other MDs like Deva, dheena, baradwaj and HJ. This is his 
answer to them.Previously ARR had tried  such a similar song in 
Vanidcholai Sinnarasu but it was too reaptedly rhythmic to be 
considered one. Kama Karailyile  is supposed to draw the "trash 
audience" deliberately. ARR had always known market trends before...he 
proves it again without compromising on his own sincere honest style 
of composing.

the raga..yes..its is Carnatic Raga Vasanthi & the Hindustani equivalent
is Raga Bhoopkali or Bhoopeshri. It has all shuddha swaras except Dha & it
omits Madhyam & Nishad though in some cases it may add a Teevra Madhyam
being from the Marwa thaat (Raga Family). So its Sa Re Ga Pa Dha(Komal) Sa.
ARR's used this raga in Taj Mahal (Adi manjakkizhange), Mudhalvan (Kurukku
chiruthavale) & JanaGanaMana album (Hariharan's rendition of Desh ka
salam). Theeyil has an exceptional quality of moving ur soul...thats ARR

Helloo guys

Is there any way i can save the messages.. suppose i read one message
and i need to keep it for later use, Is there is any option that i
just check and that message with the text save on my account.. ? so
whenever i Sign In on yahoo groups and go to the section, i can find
the saved messages Something like "My groups" where u can see all
the groups u r regsitered..!!

because there are many messages, which i post and i need to see their
response, but most of the time i cannot find it..

HJ had a very good start with Minnale, which is still a good album,
but nowadays whenever I listen to his newer albums, all I can think
is, "there's a loop, there's a loop, there's a loop."  It doesn't feel
organic the way ARR's use of loops and samples does.

Hello to every ARR fans 

   Folks.. We could clearly see the pattern here.. before an album 
comes out.. some start their nonsense..Copyin, not gd enough, 
odinary, ARR losing it, failure... whatever!! I call these posts as 
WEEDS!! Sorry if i offend anyone!! But for every 5 positive ARR posts 
there is one that starts up some nonsense and many arr fans come to 
argue!!...Things like wat is the worst songs of ARR is clearly not 
ness here!! Why don't u post ur worst moments in your life? Your 
worst decisions in life? It's clear that this ppl know there are many 
hardcore ARR fans here and posting such a stuff would make them argue 
and yet they do it!!!

 Pls Pls Pls ARR fans.. Put this posts in IGNORE MODE!!! Don't stop 
to pull weeds!! It's no use! I urge all ARR fans just to carry on 
posting more fruitful posts, which could benefit all arr fans and 
give them enjoyment!!Hey after all ARR had met with so many criticism 
n he still rockin on and we are after all his fans we should be 
strong too.

Godfather rocks!! It's has that ARR "FEELING" to it esp. innisai!! I 
love the part from 2:36 cos the strings enter.. and then at 3:00 the 
counterpoint(tats the arr "FEELING")... i went WOW the first time i 
listened to it!!Awesome!!I love all the songs.Each songs is for 
different times of the day!!
Enjoy the music!!
But pls buy the original cds guys.

who the hell are you to say " leave the 
group" he did not say anybd to not listen to GF, it is his opinion boss it 
doest mean he is killing and disturbing arr & his music
 
Every person has got a right to express 
his opinion,  it is obvious that we all have high expectations on 
arr albums coz of it he might not liked GF songs leave him.. but 
dont make such statements on group, i did not like the way u
