Mani to dub `Guru` in Tamil! By Moviebuzz | Friday, 24 November , 2006, 11:29 Mani Ratnam has decided to dub his magnum opus Guru in Tamil. Now Abhishek Bachchan, Mithun Chakravarthy, Aishwarya Rai, Vidya Balan and Mallika Sherawat will speak in Tamil! Madhavan is also doing a cameo role in the film. The Hindi version of Guru which was slated for release on Dec 22 is now postponed to January 12, 2007. So Guru in Tamil, will release simultaneously with its original Hindi version as a Pongal special. There is a lot of buzz around the film as it is based on the life and times of Dhirubhai Ambani and his rise to power as one of the richest man in the country. The songs by A.R.Rahman have already become a hit. As far as Tamil dubbing goes Aishwarya Rai has a market here. In Guru there is wedding scene of Abhishek and Ash shot at a Madurai temple which is drawing a lot of curiosity. The couple are said to be real life lovers and astrologers are predicting that they will get married soon. See the indiafm top ten http://www.indiafm.com/features/2006/11/24/1871/index.html No.3 Guru (New) pluses:- There is good news for Ratnam, Rahman, Abhi and Ash fans as 'Guru' finds a place in Top-3 within a week of the release. Also notable is the fact that the album's promotion has barely begun and it is the entire cast and crew setup that has actually enabled such heartening sales in no time. Actually they're not that good. there are 4 phases after a rahman album releases: Phase 1: People don't like it in the first hearing. The trouble is that they want to post a review as soon as possible, so they post it based in their first hearing which is almost always negative. you know i have noticed one thingwhen people write a really negative review of a rahman album and finally add the following words 'not upto rahman's usual standards' they think this automatically makes them an impartial reviewer. Phase 2: Then the slow poison starts working..Hmm.this song is not bad...!! maybe i should have given it some more hearings Phase 3: The poison effect has reached it's peak.the cd keeps running in a loop in the cd player and in the carthe tunes are stuck in the head and everyone keeps humming the songs at work, at home... Phase 4: The movie releases and the songs become a rage or die a slow death (but not among arr fans) depending on whether the film is a hit or a flop.

Rahman keen to make Vijay's ATM a musical hit Nov 24, 2006 behidewoods The combination of Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay and A R Rahaman is not heard very often. The last time they came together was for Udaya where Vijay was paired with Simran. Though the film did not do well, the music also was not much talked about. It was surely a damp squib for Vijay's fans. Now this duo is coming together for Vijay's next film (after Pokkiri) Azhagiya Thamizh Magan. According to sources close to these people, Rahaman has vowed to make this film a musical hit thereby trying to make amends for Udaya. He is said to be seriously working on it. This film is expected to have soul stirring music from him. Fans are waiting anxiously for this musical feast.

Just heard the song `Tere Bina' from the upcoming Mani Ratnam film GURU. The music is simply haunting and what a terrific job by Rahman. Infact the film has an elegant musical score, which just exudes the classy genius of the music maestro. One can't help saying `Maan Gaye GURU'. Well GURU once again brings forth the Mani Ratnam-A R Rahman collaboration. But the movie looks quite noteworthy if one skims over the little factors associated with this film. First of all, A R Rahman has composed outstanding scores for his mentor Mani Ratnam's movies. But they haven't been able to `score' in Bollywood so far. This combination has not clicked when it comes to Hindi movies. Their previous ventures DIL SE and YUVA turned out to be huge disappointments. So they surely might be pinning their hopes on GURU this time. Secondly, this movie again pairs up Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. They too haven't dished out a hit as a pair since their KUCH NAA KAHO days, which saw them as the lead pair for the first time. The recently released UMRAO JAAN too fizzled away. The forthcoming DHOOM 2 also stars both of them but not as a couple. So it's GURU that both will have to bank upon. This could be really interesting. The credits of the film display a name that reads Mithun Chakraborty. Ohh! This amazes a lot coz as it clearly come across a little unexpected given the fact that the soft- spoken director has always chosen to work with big names. Mithun, a very talented actor and a former dancing star, is even remembered today by many a movie lovers. But today he is not in the list of happening actors and that makes his selection a little startling. But you never know with Ratnam; he is a guy with the Golden Touch! And last but not the least, Mallika Sherawat is all set to sizzle the folks with an item number. She has already cemented her bold image in Bollywood, but this song could well be her first `item number' for any movie. So it seems GURU has a lot in store for the movie buffs. It's also touted to be based on the life of one of India's leading industrial tycoons. If it is to be believed then this could be Mani Ratnam's first biographical sketch. The Southern movie-ace has always attempted to present something credible and realistic. What is he offering with GURU? Hey guys I recently heard that guru is being dubbed in tamil. This although is a great news for me as the audio will release in tamil, i am just scared that this might not click well with tamil audience. The songs are north indian, even the best song imo is a north indian based track. So what do u guys think?

infact, i was having the apprehension too.. we have to watch and see how tamil lyrics r goin to gel with the tunes of guru... swades tamil lyrics were very good but i felt that they did not go hand in hand with the tune. may be it would have been a feeling hearing it after the original hindi version. Hi Thineshan, your worries are unfound. ARR composes universally so he can make song in tamil and make it hit in hindi or English or vice versa. Take for example, Doli Sajake Rakhna, when it was dubbed to Tamil as Jodi, it became a super dooper hit.
