Hi Karthik!

These are my observations to what you have written.

Many have similarly accused Harris Jeyaraj for the same thing. The
song was "Mudhal Kanavae" where there was JUST ONE bit resembling the
LEO coffee ad - which too is damn historic.

It is not a 'direct' lift. The Airtel tune is a tune which resembles
another tune. In short - it is not an original work. Only Rahman can
say with absolute certainty whether he copied it or not. What we say
are just opinions and observations... 

But it is definitely frustrating when you come to know that a tune we
love so much was already composed by someone else much earlier...

Whats wrong with that? Don't we share good things? Some go to the
extent of copying the audio/video itself (which is sometimes illegal)
and putting it on the net for sharing.

But calling names and pointing fingers on someone like you have done
is what is disturbing.

This has to do with creativity. "Sahana" had thiruppavai lyrics in a
different tune! "Sarfarosh ki tamanna" from TLOBS has a change in
tempo! Many such Rahman masterpieces can be quoted but for the lack of
time and space.

know his works with arr as a performer & as an arranger in many films of 
arr now d loop/sample hunters will even charge up voices ? arranged by 
peters ? not by arr ? well how can this happen ? failing to realise d point 
with d supervision of arr.. :-) and i loved peter's lines "You need to be

who decided not to release it. Believe me, its worst experience to listen
those songs in Hindi. A friend who recorded the songs said the same thing.
If you listen it, you'll renounce all claims to be an AR fan! Its not from
OST. AR has no involvement in it, nor his associates have any. That is
obvious guess. I only happened to catch Kathakali song in Hindi which goes
Hathkadi. Not even worth of it.

Anyway, I'll be getting a VCD soon, if there is some good point in it, will
update you more. Sorry for digging out something which is not even worth of
it.

help as i am not a composer.. At this point of time i can give out only 
little about my presence once in his studio 7 years back.. thanks to one of 
my friend who is the son of a famous producer to take me there when he visited 
there bychance  when many misunderstandings happpen to an explanation, even 
with members who ask why this much fuss abt loops & samples.  i 
understand a NORMAL FAN of rehman will enjoy all his tunes without 
researching.. & become practical even if it is a partial inspiration or 
entire lift but FANATICS cannot digest even if there are proofs 4 partial 
inspiration.. & more of it a third category rehman fans exist here who 
takes all hard effort to find tunes from vaious loop-samples package & various 
albums & submit them with its name further only to prove rehman too influenced 
by packages & alien tunes. where do these fans fit ?? AND TO

  TODAY i took sometime to go through older posts I SEE THERE ARE MANY 
MEMBERS OLDER THAN MY JOINING HERE SUBMITTING SONGS & SAMPLES OR LOOPS TO FIND 
THESE IN REHMAN ALBUMS. I DO NOT BELONG TO 2ND & 3RD CATEGORY.. I AM 
NOT THE ONE LOOKING FOR MIRAGE.. even in old posts from the years of origin 
of this group there had been many discussions abt rehman's usage of 
loops, samples, copy, lift... etc. ONE OF THE GUYS RANOJOY (I BELIEVE HE 
HIMSELF COMPOSER) SAYS AS LONG AS IT IS COMMERCIAL LOOPS PACKAGE NOTHING WRONG 
& STILL REHMAN ABLE TO SHINE & EXCEL & THERE HAD BEEN DISCUSSIONS OF

Media Correspondent Channel 4's annual season of Indian films this year
highlights the work of three of India's greatest talents, the best of
Bollywood, and an epic Indian silent film recently restored by the BFI.

Four films featuring actor Ali Khan, who came to prominence in 2001, will be
shown including *Omkara*, an adaptation of *Othello*. *Hyderabad Blues
2*directed by prominent India director Nagesh Kukunoor will feature
along with
four of his other films. Composer AR Rahman - known as the 'Mozart from
Madras' for the unique quality of his film scores and soundtracks - fuses
influences as wide ranging as Western classical music and Carnatic music.
His work features in the films *Rang De Basanti, Guru, Swades* and *The
Rising* all being shown on Channel 4.

A seven film *Cinema India* season will air which includes *Page 3*, a
controversial look at the Mumbai celebrity circus, *Taxi No.9211*, director
Milan Luthria's film based on *Changing Lanes*, and *Paheli*, starring Shah
Rukh Khan, one of Bollywood's top actors.

Channel 4 has managed to acquire a restored version of *A Throw of Dice*.
Made by German filmmaker Franz Osten's this 1930 silent epic, is a story of
good and evil kings and includes 10,000 extras and 1,000 elephants.

The Indian film season runs every Sunday and Thursday, beginning Sunday
September 2 with Saif Ali Khan in *Kal Ho Naa Ho*.

Hello Sarathy, for your information, Rahman had his own samples 
bank of around 16000 samples in his studio,  when he started composing with 
roja. Which was also a record holding collection in entire asia. And I believe 
that most of these collections were his own creative work. So don't expect that 
he will go for cheap samples which available on net.
  And secondly,I don't think Rahman copies or uses the loops. He has highy 
sofisticated studio in asia, He can produce such  high quality sounds in a fly. 
It's all rahman's talent and creativity that makes him stand out of all 
technocrat musician in the world.

songs to an intenational level...


p.s: do not get me wrong guys pls try to understand my feeling. i fell
extremely sorry for the guys who claim them selves as  a.r.raman fan but do
not understand his music at all. for years he has given such joys with music
but we so called a.r. rahman fans are talking about such things which is
merely a coinsidence. if u want to know what is song lifting then pls listen
to Ashique(this is the movie tht is coming to my mind) music or some
composition by mr. anu malik or mr. pritam...

i think this matter is like Sachine Tendulkar. For years this legend has

Four big movies are ready for the diwali
release. Let's check out what
they are

Bheema

It has almost been two years since "Chiyaan"
Vikram graced the big screens; therefore,
it's quite natural that the expectations
are skyrocketing for his latest starrer
Bheema.
  [Bheema]
ButBheema, which is directed by
Lingusamy and producedby A.M. Rathnam,
has been in the making for a yearnow,
and has its release dates revised constantly.
The movie, expected to release alongside Kreedom,
was postponed to September and now it seems that
it will hit the screens only for Diwali. Though
the filming of the movie is over, the patchwork,
graphics and post-production work is going on. Lingusamy
after Sandakozhi is very positive about this project
and has said that the movie has come out very well.
He also added that Bheema would surely be a treat
for all Vikram fans. In this film Trisha and Vikram
will be dancing to the tunes of Harris Jeyaraj and
the audio of the movie is expected to be out soon.

Vel
  [Vel]Vel,
directed by Hari, is one of the most anticipated
movies of this year. Hari is joining hands
with Surya once again and the combination
is sure to produce a hit. After the superb
on-screen chemistry shared by Surya and Asin
in Gajini, the pair will once again be seen
sharing the screen space, which has augmented
curiosity. Having tasted success with a double
role in Perazhagan, Surya is confident to
do it once more, sources say. The man with
the Midas touch, Yuvan Shankar Raja is taking
care of the music. Vel is tipped to be a surefire
entertainer as it has all the usual elements
such as love, comedy, action and sentiment
in the right proportion, which always makes
Hari's work a delicious serving. And
the director is very happy on the way the
movie is shaping up. Vel is expected to hit
the screens before Diwali; but if the post
production works are delayed then the movie
will crackle with the crackers.
ATM

Azhagiya Tamil Magan is making an excellent
progress. With Vijay's latest Pokkiri
being declared a blockbuster, the debutant
director Barathan is under a lot of pressure
as he has to be in sync with the fans expectations.
ATM features two glamour queens Shriya and
Namitha, who are going to sizzle on screen
with Vijay, in exotic locales, for the music
tuned by the music maestro A.R. Rahman. The
ace music director and Vijay are joining hands
after Udhaya, so the expectations on the music
front are also very high. Another significant
information on this musical-action extravaganza
is an action sequence in which Ilayathalapathy
and Vijay will be fighting each other. Confused?
For the first time, Vijay is donning a double
role. Double treat is awaiting all Vijay fans
this Diwali. [Azhagiya Tamil Magan]
  [Dasavatharam]Dasavatharam

Come Diwali, crackers and sweets take a backseat
as the expectations for this colossus is getting
bigger and bigger. Just in case this movie
does not see the light of the day on Diwali;
the day it hits the screens will be similar
to Diwali - such is the hype surrounding this
mammoth project. Universal hero Kamal Haasan
is playing ten roles for the first time. Dasavatharam,
produced by Oscar Ravichandran, is the most
expensive movie ever made in the Indian cinema,
beating out Sivaji.

The movie features Asin and Mallika Sherawat
in prominent roles. K.S. Ravikumar, the captain
of the ship is very happy on the final outcome
of the movie.
Thedirector has given all credit to
Kamal Haasan, andrightly so, as he has
spent almost half his dayin front of the
mirror disguising for the ten roles.Some
of the information which is out like the White
House set or the tsunami effect being created for
the climax or the helicopter shot of all the major
places in Chennai is already the subject of discussion
in any film following fraternity. Even the American
ambassador David Hooper was surprised at the White
House which was erected in Chennai Film City. The
movie is all set to open across the world on Diwali
day.

i thought Rahman used the loop directly (which is not wrong), but 
man he completely changed the loop, the instruments. He was just 
inspired by that loop. Relax dude... good luck becoming a MD, once 
you do, you will know that people like you are a big pain for MDs. 
Life is short man, have fun with your music. Next time dont turn a 
spark into a forest fire and trigger 5 pages of responses. My 
respect for ARR hasnt gone down a minuscule amount, which goes to 
say how useless your post was. I am sorry but the way you titled 
your post, the way you worded this, just makes people mad. There is 
nothing wrong with sharing this info, but next time chooose your

are they stored? how do music directors access them? how is not
plagiarism compared to the ones we call plagiarism ...do music
directors pay to use them? does rahman do samples like the rnb one and
do other music directors use them? plz explain

I was thinking of putting a title that'l attract allf ur 
attention..thought this was the best(may b the other person thought 
f the same thing).God..wht'l discussion in this group 4 last 4-5 
days.Rahman lifted munbai vaa froma sample,50% f rahman songs are 
lifted(this was the most stupid),airtel song lifted from ilayraja 
song...enough.
ppl...pls do understand...what actually is this so called 
lifting.munbai vaaso called lift is a pakka (100%) case of 
inspiration.I mean thts so obvious...its jus 4-5 seconds of a sample 
tht inspired him to do a 5 minuts beauty...same for the so cald 
airtel lift(actually i didn feel anythin similar on the first 2- 3 
hearings..the the person had written the lines ..tht he felt similar 
to the airtel tune).some songs which r in the same raagam...do sound 
similar.Best xample 4 this wud be ilayrajas pachamalar koodu song 
and the enthu paranjalum (malayalam) song.Pritam compositions 
would be a perfect xample of lifting
rahman never lifted any song...yes he might have usd samples and 
loops...in that case Lifting is not the term to be used.
pls do put a stop to this stupid topic.

Hello Sarathy, for your information, Rahman had his own samples bank of
around 16000 samples in his studio,  when he started composing with
roja. Which was also a record holding collection in entire asia. And I
believe that most of these collections were his own creative work. So
don't expect that he will go for cheap samples which available on net.

And secondly,I don't think Rahman copies or uses the loops. He has highy
sofisticated studio in asia, He can produce such  high quality sounds in
a fly. It's all rahman's talent and creativity that makes him stand out
of all technocrat musician in the world.
