[arr] Re: [IMPORTANT] An opportunity to help the foundation

2008-01-25 Thread mail2sarathlal
hi Vijay,
I had posted abt the PFMB books in many communities and had mailed to
many of my friends. The common question I am getting is whether its
availble by any means other than online. Not having credit card or
checking account is their main problem. Can you please let me know of
any solution for this? Is it possible to get the Foundation's books
via stores?

Rahmaniac,
Sarath.

All eyes on Pritam this season

With the much hyped music of JODHAA AKBAR failing to create much of an
impression amongst hardcore Bollywood music lovers, all eyes are now set
on Pritam to carry on the great run he enjoyed in 2007.

In recent times, except for SUNDAY and to an extent SUPERSTAR, none of
the other albums have made much of a dent at the music stands. In fact
Pritam's own MY NAME IS ANTHONY GONSALVES along with music from films
released recently like SHOWBIZ, HALLA BOL and BOMBAY TO BANGKOK have all
been royal failures.

There was much expected from A R Rahman to set 2008 on a fast track with
JODHAA AKBAR but that too hasn't happened so far. However, there are
expectations of some momentum building up as the movie gets near to
release with an extensive promotional campaign being planned.

Till then, one looks forward to Pritam to churn some entertaining
tracks. Expectations are that his RACE, the music of which arrives later
this month, would indeed be 'racy' enough and get the foot tapping, as
evident from the title song which is currently on.

Later, in the month of February, soundtrack of JANNAT would also be
released. The music is expected to be special here since it reunites
Bhatts and Pritam after a hat trick of successful scores in the form of
GANGSTER, WOH LAMHE and AWARAPAN. Incidentally, both RACE and JANNAT
would be seeing a theatrical release on the same day i.e. 21st March.

Some of the other films in the coming days for which Pritam has composed
music are HAR PALL, SINGH IS KINNG, EK - THE POWER OF ONE and BHRAM.

I cherish

While each right is precious to people at some point in their lives, in
my case it is perhaps Right to freedom of Expression that is most
appropriate. That is exactly what I do through my music.

I want

I wish every child in this country gets the basic needs of life fulfilled, so
that they have some hope of a brighter future.

[arr] TRANSLATION: Marhaba Mustapha (Al-Risalah)

2008-01-25 Thread kaissiom
Hi Guys,

So, I got hold of Al-Risalah. It has a total of 6 tracks. One by
Rahman, 'Marhaba Mustapha'. There is one by some Liyakat Ajmeri, and
the rest are by some Raj Verma.

One correction... this track is not exactly a Naat, it's a Nasheed.
Naat is generally referred to any religious poems/shayari/verses.
Whether a Naat contains music or not is completely up to the producer of
Naat, it doesn't have to be one way or other. Usually Naats praise the
God, but when they are specifically meant for prophet Muhammed(PBUH),
they are called Nasheeds. Therefore, this album has all Nasheeds.

Marhaba Mustafa is an awesome Nasheed, very simple yet spiritual. The
one thing different about it is the arabic rhythm/singing layered with
guitar/strings, and it has the regular harmonium and claps. It's a
soul-stirring song, as soon as I heard it, it kept on repeating it my
head, it has that effect. Soulful singing by Rahman!!

Again, I've attempted to translate this piece as requested by some of
you. Please forgive me and change it, if deemed necessary.

[arr] Re: GUITARIST KEITH PETERS experiences with ARR

2008-01-25 Thread Ranojoy
Keith has always played the "bass" guitars.. I think maybe you are
thinking of the accoustic guitars (Prasanna, Kabuli, Neil
(?),Raashid Ali, George Peter in shows).. and Christy Sam and
Raashid play electric guitars. The guitar in Only You is played by
Kabuli, but he can't pull it off for live shows apparently. That's
why you never hear the song in live shows..

Excellent point.

Yes, this clearly proves that if someone doesn't like one song of the
album that doesn't mean that the song is bad. This song is liked by
other reviewers. Our ARR caters the need of all tastes.

mind. it seems Jodha is seeking help in some critical situation... the
melody is not like praising Lord. Let the movie release... then we will get
to know

[arr] my review

2008-01-25 Thread ARR FMS
1 . azeem o shan

this does not sounds grand to me . i read that it was suppoesed to sound
like 1 drums together but actually sounds like 2 drums .
this is the song that i did not heard a lot , but since people like this
song it must be good . but i don 't like it . would like it if rehman sung
it . i liked it when he sung it in delhi concert clip .

2 . jashn e bahara & its instrumetnal

song jasn e bahara is meaningful but the singing i don't like it . but since
many people like it , i think they ignore the singing . actually spb should
sing this song . instrumental flute rocks . it is very beautiful . while
listening to flute song i think as i 'm walking thru jungle with flute in my
hand . it is a beautiful experience to listen flute song . flute song is
just superb .

3 . khwaja mere khaja & instrumental

very good song . boss is singing rocking this song . no words to say how
good is this song . tabla is beautiful . i think the line ' tere darbar me
kwaja ' is sounding like ' na ja chakri ke mare ' line from song tere bina .
tere bina is also a great song . khwaja song is song of the year 2008 .
instrumental song is very spirtual .

4 . in lamhon ke daman mein

chorus is very lovely . madhushri is singing this song with sonu nigam .
madhushri is not singing well . cannot listen properly what words she is
singing . she can sing better . lyrics cool . very meaningful . sonu nigam
singing good . total song is good .

5 . manmohana

this is the song of the album . the best rocking song that rehman has done
in recent time . since i got music i'm (&my mother) playing this song
day&night non stop . listen this song closing eyes and see how u feel .
beautifyl flute and tabla . singing is very very nice . very strong voice .
alka yagnik will mess with such high pitch song . who is beela shinde? great
find of boss ! i don 't know why many reviewrs did not like this song but i
'm liking this song . top of the tops composing , top of the tops music ,
top of the tops singing . top of the tops &simple lyrics. but since many
people didn 't like this , there will be something wrong with this song i
guess . only because i don't understand anything in music so i'm liking this
song . maybe people r right . but this is the song of the album .

my rating 10/10 because album contains manmohana song .

[arr] we should not disappoint with JA music review

2008-01-25 Thread kkkferrari
I Think we should just wait for Jodha Akbar movie to release to hear
good music review because if see some of the A R Rahman film were the
music pick up and became famous after the movie release example laagan
, taal , even Saathiya also and many more films were critics didn't
liked the music before but after watching the film they and people
like so in JA also this same things has happen this happen because A R
Rahman give music to the film needs and to that situation so we should
be just patient still movie is release and I am sure music will become
super hit .

[arr] GUITARIST KEITH PETERS experiences with ARR

2008-01-25 Thread Vithur
Rahmaniacs,

Keith peters , has been a famous base guitarist and has been assosciated
with ARR right from Roja till Sivaji.

*1. When did you meet ARR ?.*

I met Rahman in 1988, when I was working for Music Director Raj Koti. At
that time, he was around 18 years old. In 1990, when he was doing jingles,
he had called me for doing jingles. He has always been a very quiet boy. We
used to have lot of discussions about music. I have played a lot of ad
jingles, themes with Rahman. I was working in a Five Star Hotel, and used to
play base guitar every night. One night he called me and asked me to come
and play for a song in 1991. That was for Chinna Chinna Aasai ( Roja ) . I
asked him what was this for, for which he replied " I am doing a movie, and
hopefully it comes out well". I told him that it would definitely be a hit,
and not to worry.

*2. What are the songs that you have played for Rahman ?*

First of all, all songs I used to play in the night. Rahman was the cause
behind me leaving the Hotel. he told me " *leave the hotel; Play for me".* I
thank him a lot for getting me out of that hotel.

*3. What was your experience of working with Rahman during Roja ?*

Each song of Rahman is a different experience. He is a very great and good
composer, and hence each song is a unique experience. It seems Keith's speed
of playing is so much, that Rahman used to tell him " You should wait more
than you play ".

*4. What is your experience in doing Live Programs ??*

They are totally different from recordings. You have to be really alert
especially for Rahman songs. Its because you have to duplicate the same
thing thats on the record. My experience has been a different experience
playing for his concerts. we have to practise nicely and deliver

*5. Which are the programs that you have enjoyed a lot ?*

I play all different styles of music, like pop, jazz, rock and of course for
Rahman for Tamil Songs. I like little bit of Jazz. Even rahman loves that.
My kinf od Jazz is little modern. Each person on the band improvises on a
particular theme.

*6. which song of Rahman did you love playing ?*

All his songs are so beautiful. Esp Chinna chinna Aasai, Pudhu Vellai
Mazhai. Then came July Madham ( Pudhiya Mugam ) , Netru Illadha Matram (
Pudhiya Mugam ) . My base guitar was prominent in Kaadhal Rojave ( Roja )
and even Kadhal Sadugudu ( Alaipyudhey )

*7. what are the different styles of Base Guitar ?*

The style that we play with fingers is called peeking style. Then is the
slab style with the thumb and the forefinger. Then comes the walking base(
swing pattern )

Swing Pattern :- Kannum Kannum ( Thiruda Thiruda ) ( Fast running base )
Slab Base - Kadhal Sadugudu ( Alaipayudhey )

*8. Is there any song that you have not played for rahman ?*
( Laughs) That we have to ask him. Before, when Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu
recording were done at the same place, I used to play for 3 songs the same
day. But I can play for 10 songs in the same day.

9. *How many Children ?*

MY wife is a housewife. I have two children. But all the support for me
comes from my wife. My daugther is studying in her Final year in Stell
Marrys ( Chennai ) and my son is in his eighth standard. My son is learning
rhthym guitar. Daugther was learning some piano, but stopped now . I come
from a family of musicians. My father used to play any instrument. Just take
and play. he was not full into music. My brothers are all musicians. One is
a Base guitarist. he is in Mumbai . His name is Carl Peters, and the other
one is in Delhi. he is also a guitarist. Carl plays for films. The other
brother plays in Hotels. Basically, we are all Anglo Indians . and hence
can't speak Tamil fluently.

*10. Is there any song which was recorded the entire night with Rahman ?*

Yes. The song " Oh Maria Oh Maria " from Kadhalar Dhinam. we played it . But
Rahman didn't like it . So we were trying different patterns. Then we did
Roja Roja from the same film, and these two songs took the entire night for
us. I came home the next evening.

*11. Have you ever thought why I am wasting my time and energy the entire
night and my skills are getting minimised here ??*

No. I love working with Rahman. Its really wonderful to work with. So
pleasing and he is open to ideas. when we are working with Rahman, we do not
think abt sleeep . I am excited to do my best and make Rahman happy.

*12. What kind of relationship do you share with Rahman ?*

I respect him a lot as a good musician. Good friend and for his level
headedness. He is so big but nothing has happened to his head. and I admire
him for that. I keep telling this to everybody. Look at RAHMAN.

*13. How much are you religious ?*

I fear GOD. I thank God for all the blessings that he has showered on me.

*14. Which praise can never be forgotten in your life ?*

Rahman has praised me by saying " God Bless your hands ". Once I hurt my
thumb while recording. That time Rahman's incharge Samydurai had called me
for recording. I said I cant come.

[arr] ALL BAD REVIEWS PROVE ONE THING

2008-01-25 Thread ali ahad
have you notice one thing in all bad reviews...each of
them determine different song as the best song of
album

some said AZEEM O SHAAN SHEHANSHAH is
mindblowing,

other said the real chartbuster is JASHAN-E-BAHARA

while some said buy the album just for KHAWAJA MERE
KHAWAJA

or that the only song that leave it mark is IN
LAMHON K DAAMAN MAY

.this all prove one thing that this album contains
songs for all taste and thats the best part

these reviewer are so awstrucked by one song that
they are not giving other songs a chance but we fan
know give two or three chances to boss' songs and
they will never give you a chance again to listen
anyother song...

[arr] Blog review of JA 8

2008-01-25 Thread Gopal Srinivasan
Jodhaa Akbar is Ashutosh
Gowariker’s soon to be released film and is based on the love story of
the Rajput princess Jodhaa and the famous Mughal Emperor, Akbar. The music of
this movie makes a big splash, typical AR Rehman style.
Ever since the promos have been aired, I have been eagerly waiting for
the album to be released. Without further ado, let’s get down to the
nitty gritty!

The first track of the album, Azeem-O-Shahenshah opens with lots of
earth shattering beats and fan fare. It transports you back to the
Mughal Era and makes you want you dance, in a way. It’s been sung by
Mohammad Aslam and Bony Chakravarthy. Never heard either of them
singing before. Rehman does a good job of mixing some soft tunes in
between his trademark beats.

The second track, Jash-e-Bahaara, has been beautifully sung by Javed
Ali. It’s a very melodious and romantic song. I have seen the song on
Youtube (Click here) and Aishwarya Rai looks really pretty. I’m not really sure
if Hrithik Roshan
suits the role of Akbar. Hrithik just looks like Hrithik! Towards the
end of the album, you’ll also find an instrumental theme based on this
song.

The third track, Khwaja Mere Khwaja, has been sung by the maestro, A.R Rehman
himself and is my favorite It reminds me of Ishq Bina from Taal and Piya Haji
Ali from
Fiza. I have always felt that AR Rehman excels when it comes to Sufi
music. I don’t know how he manages to compose these songs, because this
genre is definitely one of the most difficult to even conceptualize.
I’m a sucker for A.R Rehman’s voice because it’s quite distinct and a
little “cracked”, if you know what I mean.

Sonu Nigam and Madhusree have done a decent job in the next song,
Inn Lamho Ke Daaman Mein. I didn’t really like this song much, because
it gets spoilt by some unnecessary strong vocals. The entire effect is
not very good. The last song, Man Mohanna, which has been sung by Bela
Shende, is also quite dull compared to the first few tracks in the
album. You might like it if you are fine with devotional songs.

All in all, I highly recommend this album. It lives up to the
expectations of AR Rehman fan(atics)s and is one of the best Hindi
Movies albums to be released in a long time. The last that I liked was
Guru, which had also been composed by AR Rehman.

I’m not sure if I’ll watch the movie- I don’t fancy Hrithik Roshan
trying his level hard to portray the role of Akbar. Wasn’t Akbar a
little rotund? Hrithik should have put on some weight, at least. We
could have expected some more perfectionism from him. Anyway, this is a
music review and I don’t intend to spoil it by talking about Hrithik
Roshan.

Jodha Akbar- A Tribute to History..

What
does public look for in theaters? A good story, excellent direction,
top stars, rocking music and a good 3 hour enjoyment.Well, looks like "Jodha
Akbar" has it all! Directed by Aushutosh Gowrekar, the director of
Oscar-Nominated "Lagaan",
featuring Hrithik Roshan as "Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar, and Beauty
Peagant Aishwarya Rai as "Jodha- The Rajput Princess - the daughter of
King Bharmal of Ajmer" and enchanting music by A. R.Rahman, will the
movie step its foot into the Oscar Nominations again and win
it?Hopefully it does!

Story: The story dates
back to the 16 century and talks about the untold love story of Akbar
and his wife Jodha(Hira -Kunwari before their marriange). The marriage
alliance between the Mughals and the Rajputs was mainly to strengthen
Akbar's Political Gain. This alliance led to the merging of two
cultures and religions and does Akbar know he has stepped into another
journey, a journey of love, to win the battel of love and does he
succeed in winning the love of "Jodha?"

The Music Score:The album was finally released and is already a super hit.
A.R.Rahman has done it again. The album opens with the song Azeem-O-Shaan-
Shehanshaa. Once
the song started to play, I was taken into the world of Akbar and could
picturise the Great Emperor marching with all power and vigour. The
song is picturised on Hrithik and is rich and brings out the power that
the King possesses. The song has fantastic drum-beats and strong
lyrics. The song is rendered by Mohd.Aslam, Bony Chakravarthy and group.

"In Lamhoon Ke Daman Mein" a
beautiful melodious number rendered by Sonu Nigam and Madhushree. I was
surprised to read the review in India FM ,which said that this number
did not make an impression. It said "boring" was too harsh a word to
describe this song. Well I bet this guy was out of his minds when he
heard the song.hehe.Is this too harsh?? This is one of my favorites in
the album and is magical- taking you into a world purely filled with
love.

"Jashn-e-bahaara hai" sung by Javed Ali
is another melody number. Javed Akhtar has as usual played his games
with words and they are as always the best."Paas hai Phir bhi Paas
Nahin", wow it means so much! The singer sings with full passion and I
have no choice of words to describe the song. ARR has proved his genius
again.

"Khawaja Mere Khwaja" a slow, Kawwali
number rendered by Rahman himself, is one of his usual additions and
will surely be loved by Rahman fans!Nice lyrics, nice music , with
Rahman trademark.

"Man Mohanaa" by Bela Shande
is a devotional track sung in praise of Lord Krishna. Its a lovely
number resembling a bhajan. The lyrics rock. Bela has sung this really
well and has done total justice by bringing out her feelings in her
mesmerising voice. She sounds the best when she reaches the highest
octave while singing "Man Mohanaa" towards the end.
The instrumental music foe Khwaja mere Khwaja on Oboe and Jashn-e-bahaara on
the flute is also very scintillating.

On
the whole the album rocks and I enjoyed all the songs and hope the
movie would also come out great. Its seems really after a long time that
Bollywood is coming up with a nice movie based on history. When I saw
the trailers of Jodha Akbar on the official site, it was amazing. The
background score, the war scenes, the costumes, sets, everything was at
its best and was rich! Looks like Maharani of Jaipur has also given her
approval...

[arr] CNN Review - Wish the Khwaja Instrumental Away??

2008-01-25 Thread Chord
I respect the overall review, but I am pretty appalled at the guy
saying he wishes the Khwaja instrumental away. Probably a bit too
classy for him. Hardly a redundant instrumental.he could not be
more wrong. I found this instrumental so special because it sounds
so unlike the original song except for core melody and it's just
beautifully composed. One of my favorite instrumentals of recent
times. I just don't get some people's reasoning. It's beyond me.

Again, Man Mohanna bashed. The beginning is incredible for
me.what's wrong with it? It's a mishra Bhairavi based track,
serious, somber. It's very devotional. It has rich instrumentation
and supreme classical melody, powerful lyrics, and top singing. It's
such a shame that a brilliant track is being panned left and right.

get more info, will keep updated.

By the way, it is already doing a good business. There is a considerable demand
for the CDs from some religious organizations. Hope the distribution gets

them, they had no idea what I was talking about! Maybe they have it but aren't
aware about it?

Also, lets write to sites like Musicyogi and Nehaflix requesting to make it
available.

Thanks to Ranojoy for explaining in details about Na'ats!

Thanks.
