I have to say this song is like one of those slow poisons of Rahman. To be
honest, very first day I listened to the soundtrack - I listened to only first
6 songs and this one didnt appeal for some reason. Now I just cant stop
listening to it!!
Though I got lyrics & translation of the songs.. can someone please tell what
language are they in? Is it complete Malyalam or some Tamil as well? what about
chorus part - is that Sanskrit or that is Malyalam too

Chord, Do give a thought to itI believe, This will ensure that nobody

The best way to ensure that the contents are not ripped off is to license
everything you write. I would suggest using Creative Commons Non-Commercial
Attribution License. ( there is an option to license contents in
creativecommons. org) and put the legal notice underneath any review / article
you write for your blog / website or even in the e-mails that are sent to the
group.

the license is non-commercial, which means any website that uses the contents
will be liable for paying anything the author demands. if the website is not a
commercial business (like forums or social networks) the attribution clause in
the license will require them to credit the original author and put a link back
to the author's website / blog.

just a suggestion :)

[arr] VTV has a flavor of E20U18 ???

2010-01-15 Thread goodday_guy
VTV, what a suprisingly innovative album by ARR. I am impressed.
Took quite some time to start enjoying, but when I did...it was a great feeling.

Anyway, did you guys notice the strong flavor of E20U18 in VTV?
The mood of Asathura and Oru Nanban, can be seen in Anbil Avan, Kannukkul and
Hosanna...

Trisha stars in both E20U18 and VTV, coincidence?

Cheers,

[arr] Re: Official video of VTV audio release (Magical unplugged versions)

2010-01-15 Thread Rivjot

Another CD release with unplugged versions? Forget about it!! Dont even think
about it in your dreams because that simply is not going to happen.

There are some serious statements you made and I fall in the category of people
who (have to) download from net..
First of all its not pirated versions on amazon / iTunes, they are official
legal versions - whatever is on CD. I dont agree with your negative thoughts on
"Lets download because I am going to buy the CD anyways"
>From my point of view, it is alright to download and then buy the music (well
>thats what I do for Non-ARR albums as I cant just blindly buy every album that
>comes in the market, I buy non-ARR albums AFTER listening to them. concept is
>- buy the album if you like it). Now for ARR albums, as we are obsessed with
>his music, most of us cant just wait to listen to the songs.
You are lucky one who has Tamil video/audio stores at places near you, but that
isnt the situation in rest of the world. There is not even a single music
stores in my entire province / state where I can get Tamil CDs.
This time around for VTV, songs were available on iTunes (iPhone only) and I
was fortunate that I have iPhone. What about people who dont have iPhones? Do
you think someone would buy expensive phone like iPhone ($ 750) just to listen
to one album. Even if album was available for regular iTunes download, I can
totally understand that a person wouldnt want to spend double the cost of CD
for songs (buy mp3 songs then buy CD) unless he is a hardcore fan - thats why
they chose to download songs (even for free) and then buy CDs (because they
like the music, they want to support the artist).
.. and amazon, only people in UK can buy mp3s, why not people in other
countries? .. and what about people who dont even have credit cards (because
both iTunes & Amazon require visa / master card)?

Since Amazon is delivering CDs in Feb / March - do you really expect us to go
through the pain of not listening to songs till Feb / March?

In short, it is not us, it is distributors , music companies themselves who are
responsible for this ugly situation of piracy. If they distribute properly,
make CDs available at most places within same time, piracy can definitely be
minimized to some level.

arghhh what is wrong with me.. I am supposed to be enjoying VTV songs and I am
writing this non-pleasant statements. I guess I should watch these unplugged
version videos to change my mood =)

[arr] Re: Official video of VTV audio release (Magical unplugged versions)

2010-01-15 Thread sanjayshankar
No, the preaching is not excused. You know what encourages piracy??

If the rights holder does not make enough CDs available, and on top of that
prevents the 2 biggest online sellers of digital music from selling MP3s in one
of the biggest markets, then I will download it. I have also pre-ordered the
CD on Amazon, which will probably get it to me by February and so I WILL MOST
DEFINITELY download it with a clear conscience.

I also tried to buy from amazon.co.uk, but you can't do that from US because of
'geographical restrictions'.

On top of all this, there's a stupid iphone app (a world first apparently.. in
what? stupidity?). What about people not having an iphone / ipod touch?

Whoever is responsible for this debacle in the US, shame on you for letting
pirates be the 'heroes'.

This shows how much you love AR's music.

I am addicted to hosanna and anbil avan..I don't know single word in Tamil

effortlessly..credit to AR's music..what else?

VTV is one of the Best among AR's albums!

The best way to ensure that the contents are not ripped off is to license
everything you write. I would suggest using Creative Commons Non-Commercial
Attribution License. ( there is an option to license contents in
creativecommons.org) and put the legal notice underneath any review /
article you write for your blog / website or even in the e-mails that are
sent to the group.

the license is non-commercial, which means any website that uses the
contents will be liable for paying anything the author demands. if the
website is not a commercial business (like forums or social networks) the
attribution clause in the license will require them to credit the original
author and put a link back to the author's website / blog.

just a suggestion :)

Re: [arr] Re: Gautham-A.R.Rahman combo rocks!

2010-01-15 Thread Sath Murthy
GM is all set for his next two films. First with Ajith and then with Kamal

Who will be MD for these? Hope GM-ARR combo continues... read somewhere that GM
will be teaming up with ARR for all his future project.. dont know how much of
that is true?

http://sify.com/movies/tamil/fullstory.php?id=14927500

Gautham Vadudev Menon is going to have a busy 2010. After the successful audio
launch of his Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya, Gautham is going underground to write the
script of his next film.
Gautham has confirmed that he is going to do Ajith’s golden jubilee
film for producer Dayanidhi Alagiri. He is working on an interesting
commercial script for the film which will start rolling by mid April.
As of now, the film is likely to release sometime in Nov/Dec this year.
The music director and heroine will be fixed before the shoot.
The big news is that Gautham has signed Kamal Hassan for his next film
at a whopping price. Kamal and Gautham who had worked together in Vettayadu
Villayadu, had fallen out over some trivial issues.
As a goodwill gesture Kamal came to attend Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya, audio launch
and said he is very eager to see Gautham’s Simbu- Trisha film after seeing the
trailer and songs.
Now they have patched up the new film will start rolling after Kamal
finishes his Udayanidhi Stalin project with KS Ravikumar. And by that
time GM would have completed his Ajith project. The Kamal film is to be
made by Gautham under his home banner.

The point is not about similarity in tune. But the point is about - what was
hovering in ARR's mind when he made this song.

If only some interviewer asks it, I am sure ARR might say that he was inspired
(purely by school of thought, not tune etc) by Pink Floyd's creations such as
"Wish you were here", "Animals", "More", Obscured by Clouds".

Infact, i feel the song has doses of Pink Floyd-ian style peppered with
L.Shankar (electronic violin).

I personally think it's a glitch. Man you guys are sure keeping AR's tecnical
team on their toes :-) :-)

I think the mixing team should let this group audit the final mix before it

After my repeated hearings, I strongly feel that this part ( 00:08 ) was
overlooked in the final mix. Can't digest this as an innovative creation or
take as an example/idea for the mixes.

If we get an official verdict on this, would be helpful to know more about this
idea.. Please.

[arr] Sydney goes to Bollywood to see Indian idol

2010-01-15 Thread $ Pavan Kumar $
http://www.smh.com.au/news/entertainment/music/sydney-goes-to-bollywood-to-see-indian-idol/2010/01/15/1263058358330.html

IT HAS been five years since Vish Viswanathan saw the Bollywood megastar A.R.
Rahman perform one of his legendary shows in Sydney. But tonight the wait will
finally be over when the composer of theSlumdog Millionaire soundtrack takes
centre stage in Parramatta Park as part of the Sydney Festival.
"I'm definitely looking forward to the concert … He is probably one of the
great composers of the 21st century. We're going to get the best out of all of
his music," Mr Viswanathan said.
Mr Viswanathan is the president of the Federation of Australian Indian
Associations, and met the superstar during his 2005 tour..
"It was very unique, it was very humble. He came across as a very humble person
for his achievements and he was fascinated very much to go to the new places,"
Mr Viswanathan said.
"When he looked at the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge he was like a child
with a new toy. It gave me a lot of pleasure that I met someone who is very
humble for his age and for his achievements."
On Thursday Mr Viswanathan met the Bollywood idol again, presenting him with a
framed memento of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
"It was wonderful meeting him [again]. He recollected [who I was] and then he
signed an autograph for me."
Mr Viswanathan says the concert comes at an important time for Australia and
India.
"We're going to get an effect of harmony, community harmony, which is very much
needed in the [recent] tension between India and Australia," he said.
A friend of Mr Viswanathan, Neera Srivastava, says Rahman's concert will mix
both Indian and Western music.
"We would think that this concert is going to generate enough interest from the
Western people as well. We really look forward to seeing many Australians at
the concert as well to see what the Bollywood music is all about," she said.
Festival organisers are warning that large crowds are expected.
SHOWTIME
The event is free.
Gates will open at noon, show time 7..30pm.
Music videos will continue after the concert.
Concert goers are asked to take public transport.
No BYO alcohol.
For full details of the event go to www.sydneyfestival.

[arr] ‘Ravana’ is talking Tamil in Chennai!

2010-01-15 Thread Sath Murthy
http://www.indiaglitz.com/channels/tamil/article/53563.html

Oh yeah! The dubbing process of ‘Ravana’ Tamil
version is up and happening from Jan 4th in Chennai. Mani Ratnam’s
favourite editor Srikar Prasanth had prepared a rough cut of 2 hours
and 50 minutes for the dubbing purpose.
The first schedule of dubbing over as Prithviraj and
Priyamani are done with their part. On the other hand, dubbing process
for the crowd voice and other supporting characters are also ready, say
the sources.
So, the remaining portion is of Aishwarya’s voice
and Govinda’s voice and sources from Madras Talkies are busy hunting
for VIP voices for them. As of now, there are no solid denials or
confirmation when it comes to the rumours about Superstar’s daughter
dear Aishwarya Dhanush giving voice for the ex- world beauty. Likewise,
gossip mongers had it that Mani Ratnam has approached Suriya to give
dubbing for Govinda. Sources in the know had it that famous dubbing
artist Savitha was seen in Prasad Studio, where the dubbing process of
‘Ravana’ is on.
Once the dubbing process is over, the process for
Ravana’s sound effects will start immediately. After this the
re-recording works will start of in Rahman’s AM Studio in Chennai by
February second week. Then the final mixing of the project will also be
done in Rahman’s studio, say the sources close to Madras Talkies.

Alphonse has done a remarkable job in this song.. but as u said, i also had the
same feeling. on the other hand, alphonse also had a touch of kamal in his
voice.. few places from 3.30 to 4.00 he sounded very similar to kamal..

whatever may be, all the songs are fantabulous and its time for us to enjoy the
soulful music.. all credits to rahman :)

[arr] MANNIPAYA AND MAN CHAND RENO

2010-01-15 Thread Nith
When I heard Mannipaya from VTV for the first time, the song came in to
my mind is Man Chand Reno from our Boss's own album Connections. Did
anybody notice that similairty? Kadalinil Meenaki . = Man Chand reno
. Its so nice to hear that tune in tamil. ARR rocks..

I'm so sorry for the mistake, my dear. Though I read the contents of your
previous mail, I'd overlooked your name...hence the mistake. I'm really sorry
again.

"I wonder if my Childhood has come back, or ARR added some special magic from
his pocket ..."

Precisely! Did it ever cross your mind how carefree our lives were during our
childhood? There was nothing but happiness, harmony and peace surrounding our
daily lives. But as adults, we tend to face problems, dilemmas and complexity
alomost everyday. Nevertheless, it's through the magical compositions of ARR
that we are transported back to our "happy day". ARR's music not only brightens
our life up...they also have the propensity to eradicate the problems and
troubles which cloud our mind. That's the magic of ARR and his music.

Omana Penne starts on a blissful tune coupled with the soothing voice of Benny

first saranam was given an "under-water- singing" effect which reminds me of

The Kerala portion on the other hand, has a heavenly rhythm which leaves you
asking for more. It's always a privilege to hear ARR's usage of ethnic music,
even if it's only for a few seconds and he has done an excellent job here as
well. And needless to say, Kalyani Menon was the perfect choice for this. On a
further note, the nadaswaram used throughout the song was just mind blowing.
Initially I had my doubts if the real nadaswaram was used for this particular
number nevertheless clarifications given by fellow friends and a quick check

churning out an essentially ethnic and yet modern tune. Omana Penne is

Infact, i feel the song has doses of Pink Floyd-ian style peppered with
L.Shankar (electronic violin).

say. I couldn't think of any other singer who would have given the song the
same level of energy that Devan accomplishes.  Nevertheless, I must say
that Chinmayi was a revelation. I've always had difficulties identifying
Chinmayi's voice as she has the talent of modulating her voice texture and
style according to the mood of each and every song of hers. While she was
soulful in Oru Deivam (Kannathil Muthammittal) and angelic in En Uyir Thozhiye
(Kangalal Kaithu Sei), here she seems to present a western-based singing. In
fact, when I heard this song for the first time, I had mistaken Chinmayi's
voice to Vasundhara Das'. A check on the credits
revealed the truth. She sounds amazing!

Coming back to the music arrangements, ARR has again surprised everyone with
his choice of genre for a song such as this. The song basically expresses the
lovers' dreams of their marriage. While most would  have settled for a melody
for such a situation, ARR decided to grant a peppy, foot-tapping number. And
what an apposite choice that was. He effectively brought out the elation felt
by the lovers in a vivacious manner, while the inclusion of the marriage tunes
at the interludes provided a wonderful, jubilant feel to it.

3. Vinnaithandi Varuvaya
I was pleasantly surprised that ARR used Karthik instead of Hariharan for this
soothing number.  This would have been a cake-walk for Hariharan who's a master
in playing with the ragas. Nevertheless, I must say that Karthik has done a
commendable job. In fact, full credits goes to ARR for using Karthik's voice in
a very unconventional manner to such great effect. Instead of opting for the
open-throat singing (which I believe is Karthik's plus point), ARR has brought
out a rather husky side of Karthik here. Truly amazing!

ARR has used minimum  instruments here, letting the string arrangements to do

voice.. few places from 3.30 to 4.00 he sounded very similar to kamal..

whatever may be, all the songs are fantabulous and its time for us to enjoy the

Amazing
unplugged versions of the VTV soundtrack. Damn! Can we convince the
organisers to release these tracks?! I am sure someone's ripping them
as I type but the high quality version of the unplugged version is
priceless. What do we have to do to get our hands on these gems?

This
soundtrack is growing on me. Mannipaye was an immediete draw for me and
now slowly the other songs are growing on me. There's something magical
about this soundtrack. Something. Cannot find the right words to
describe the feeling. But there sure is something.  I really hope this
movie is all what we expect it to be. Good luck to the team!

And
please buy the CD folks. Please. It's sad to see people justifying
listening to the pirated (read stolen) version with "oh I am going to
buy the CD anyway so it's alright to download the pirated version ".
That's really not the attitude we should be taking as responsible fans.
The pirated market is thriving because of sentiments like this.
Demand=supply. These videos remind you of the hardwork and passion that
goes behind a soundtrack like this and how do we reward them ?By
stealing their work. In my eyes, there's no difference between someone
who only downloads pirated mp3s and someone who downloads pirated mp3s
and then buys the CD. Both are equally guilty for creating demand for
pirated music. These artists deserve better. And for those reputable
music reviwers out there (likes of Karthik-milliblog etc), I humbly
request you to not write up reviews based on stolen music. Please. It
may not change your opinion of the soundtrack and that's not what I am
concerned about- the concern is the fact that you are encouraging
piracy.

Excuse the preaching folks and enjoy the music!

Exactly. Because from knowing how AR plays with setreo, this is not how his
songs have it. This is surely a flaw and not intended. That slight delay on the
right channel creates a short and slight discomfort when hearing. Not sure if
discomfort is the right word...

you guys are right about that. Like your concentration on ARR's music. :)

I feel a voice initiation from the left ear to the right ear within a span of
less than a second. I mean an effect like somebody singing near to left ear and
then positioning to both ears.

I have heard that AR records songs in 7 tracks. So when in CD, it's only two
tracks and will feel like an abrupt change. Otherwise the change would have
been gradual.

Just a guess. Not an expert opinion.

Still I feel it's hardly noticeable. :)

2010-01-15 Thread Gobi Kanadasan
Hi guys,

I've no clue for your curiosity. To be frank, I was looking forward for this
audio launch for another reason as well. I was wondering whether we could hear
from GM about his Music Director for his next movie. As far that is concerned,
I'm disappointed. But music wise, no apt word to choose to describe the
exhilaration that I'm experiencing now. As I'm mentioning this from the day GM
announced this project, the combination rocked (maybe understatement). Hope GM
will work with ARR once again for his next project.

[arr] Official video of VTV audio release (Magical unplugged versions)

2010-01-15 Thread Indmov Buff
http://tamil.techsatish.net/file/vinnai-thandi-varuvaya-audio-release/

Amazing
unplugged versions of the VTV soundtrack.

Please. It
may not change your opinion of the soundtrack and that's not what I am
concerned about- the concern is the fact that you are encouraging
piracy.

Excuse the preaching folks and enjoy the music!

alternatively at diff timing. It actually avoids few frequencies

After my repeated hearings, I strongly feel that this part ( 00:08 ) was
overlooked in the final mix. Can't digest this as an innovative creation or
take as an example/idea for the mixes.

If we get an official verdict on this, would be helpful to know more about this
idea.. Please.

[arr] My opinion on VTV

2010-01-15 Thread Gayathri Chandrakasan

Though
it has just been two days since I bought the cd, nevertheless for some reasons,
I feel as if I've been having an age old "relationship" with the
album. To tell the truth, when I first heard the songs, I did like the album
for the overall presentation. However, as the songs kept playing in my cd
player, I noticed that there was something extra special about this
album. The more I listened to it, the more I'm engrossed with it. And the more
I'm engrossed with it, the more I'm unwilling to part from it. In fact, I
happen to come across a mail written by our fellow friend who claimed that he
now takes a longer route back home in order to have some time alone with the
soundtracks. The moment I read it, I just couldn't help but smile...because
that's exactly how I felt when listening to the album myself...to spend some
time alone with the album and to uncover the truth of what's making it so
spellbinding!

The followings are merely my thoughts on my "new-found friendship"
with VTV. I'm not a professional commentator nor do I have a profound knowledge
as far as music is concerned, thus kindly pardon me if there's any inaccuracy
or mistake in the expressions and words used below.

1.
Omana Penne

Omana
Penne starts on a blissful tune coupled with the soothing voice of Benny
Dayal. I've always preferred Benny in soft melodies rather than in
fast beats or folk numbers. And as expected, Benny has done a wonderful job
here.  The first saranam was given an "under-water-singing"
effect which reminds me of Blue, nevertheless the similarities
ends there.

The
Kerala portion on the other hand, has a heavenly rhythm which leaves you asking
for more. It's always a privilege to hear ARR's usage of ethnic music, even if
it's only for a few seconds and he has done an excellent job here as well. And
needless to say, Kalyani Menon was the perfect choice for this. On a
further note, the nadaswaram used throughout the song was just mind blowing.
Initially I had my doubts if the real nadaswaram was used for this particular
number
nevertheless clarifications given by fellow friends and a quick check
with  ARR's official website cleared my doubts. Kudos to ARR and Natarajan
for churning out an essentially ethnic and yet modern tune. Omana Penne is
definitely here to stay!

2.
Anbil Avan

The
techno sound at the prelude seems to have traces of Santhipoma of Enaku 20
Unaku 18. To
tell the truth, I didn't find this song to be particularly astounding at first.
However, repeated hearing has made me to change my mind. Trust me, this
song is "highly addictive". Devan did a great job,
needless to say. I couldn't think of any other singer who would have given the
song the same level of energy that Devan accomplishes. Nevertheless, I
must say that Chinmayi was a revelation. I've always had difficulties
identifying Chinmayi's voice as she has the talent of modulating her voice
texture and style according to the mood of each and every song of hers. While
she was soulful in Oru Deivam (Kannathil Muthammittal) and angelic in En Uyir
Thozhiye (Kangalal Kaithu Sei), here she seems to present a western-based
singing. In fact, when I heard this song for the first time, I had mistaken
Chinmayi's voice to Vasundhara Das'. A check on the credits revealed the truth.
She sounds amazing!

Coming
back to the music arrangements, ARR has again surprised everyone with his
choice of genre for a song such as this. The song basically expresses the
lovers' dreams of their marriage. While most would  have settled for a
melody for such a situation, ARR decided to grant a peppy, foot-tapping number.
And what an apposite choice that was. He effectively brought out the elation
felt
by the lovers in a vivacious manner, while the inclusion of the marriage tunes
at the interludes provided a wonderful, jubilant feel to it.

3.
Vinnaithandi Varuvaya

I
was pleasantly surprised that ARR used Karthik instead of Hariharan for
this soothing number.  This would have been a cake-walk for Hariharan
who's a master in playing with the ragas. Nevertheless, I must say that Karthik
has done a commendable job. In fact, full credits goes to ARR for using
Karthik's voice in a very unconventional manner to such great effect. Instead
of opting for the open-throat singing (which I believe is Karthik's plus
point), ARR has brought out a rather husky side of Karthik here. Truly amazing!

ARR
has used minimum  instruments here, letting the string arrangements to do
the wonders. And wonders they did! I was instantly attracted to it from the
first moment I heard it. In fact, I must say that I was amazed with the whole
presentation of this song. Definitely one of my favourites!

4.
Hosanna

Vijay
Prakash is back after the amazing job
rendered in Fiqrana. Among all the songs, Hosanna attracted me from the moment
I first heard it. The song started on as a slow melody but ARR
quickly transformed it to a fast tempo at the
pallavi. Vijay sounds re

[arr] Indiaglitz reviews VTV - 4/5

2010-01-15 Thread $ Pavan Kumar $
Expectations were sky-high, quite reflecting the title. The reason is simple-
It's double Oscar winner A R Rahman's first Tamil album after bursting to fame
in the international music stage thanks to the Oscars.
Also, filmmaker Goutham Vasudev Menon has joined hands for the fist time with
Rahman, after presenting chartbusters by joining hands with Harris Jayaraj for
more than a decade; Saying Rahman has fulfilled all expectations would be
cliched. As the songs are not just stunning and scintillating, but are totally
different from the usual stuff.
And he seems to have served a warning very much about the album at its launch
itself. "It is an experimental attempt - Songs are not set in Charanam or
Pallavi. They are quirky," he said at the function.
Listen to it and one would endorse his views instantly. The songs in 'VTV' are
unconventional but trendy and chic. The Mozart of Madras seems to have combined
international music with Tamil film music to appeal to music-lovers.
With Thamarai's lyrics lending a helping hand, the songs in the movie are sweet
and superb. With two master craftsmen (Goutham Vasudev Menon and Rahman) coming
together in the film, the album has managed to create right ripples.
A young brigade of singers, trendy music and catchy lyrics is all what the
album has got.
1. Omana Pennae
Singer: Benny Dayal, Kalyani Menon
Amazing number for it creates a great feel among the listeners. The chorus
rendering Omana Pennae is soothing. The song begins with a soft touch reminding
one of Far East music, but settles down to a rhythm. Rahman's mastery in
harmony is evident. Wonder how lyricist Thamarai comes up with such poetic
lyrics within a commercial format. The Malayalam lyrics have been penned by
Kalyani Menon (Rajiv Menon's mother). Benny Dayal is okay for the song.
2. Anbil Avan
Singer: Devan Ekambaram, Chinmayee
Rahman, a man of few words, is always vibrant and enthusiastic when it comes to
his music. It is reflected in the song. It is a refreshing number with
synthesised sounds that mesmerise. Thamarai's lyrics are again to the point
speaking of a couple falling for each other. Chinmayee's chirpy's voice coupled
with the dynamic Devan Ekambaram is just apt.
3. Vinaythandi Varuvaya
Singer: Karthik
The title song of the track rendered by 'bubbly' Karthik. He is right there
doing what his master (Rahman) has ordered. Though the tune is so
unconventional, the string instruments gives the song the soul and life. Watch
out for the way Karthik renders the key line Vinnaithandi Varuvaya. It is
awesome.
4. Hosanna
Singer: Vijay Prakash, Blaze, Suzanne
The brilliant composer in A R Rahman has woven a lovable song around the word
Hosanna (considered auspicious by Christians). With rap interludes in between
by Blaaze, the song sticks to hearts instantly. Thamarai's lyrics describes the
joy in the heart and soul of a guy who comes across his beloved. A soulful
romantic number, the song with Suzanne chipping in with her best is the USP of
the album.
5. Kannukul Kannai
Singer: Naresh Iyer
Again a soft but sophisticated number. A love-lorn youth yearning for the love
and affection of his beloved is what the song is all about. Thamarai once again
impresses with her poetic lyrics. Rahman has not disturbed the lyrics with his
music, which otherwise flows freely complimenting Thamarai's works. Naresh Iyer
is just the right choice by Rahman for the song.
6. Mannipaya
Singer: A R Rahman, Shreya Ghoshal
The big man is at it. Rahman has crooned the song along with Shreya Ghoshal. It
is about a woman in love seeking apology to her lover. Interestingly the music
composer in Rahman has opted for couplets in Thirukkural which signifies the
theme of the song. Apt couplets chosen by the music composer. A song that has
no charanam or pallavi, Mannipaya has Shreya Ghoshal going gaga with her soft
voice to the accompaniment of guitar and violin.
7. Aaromalae (Malayalam song)
Singer: Alphonse
A full-length Malayalam song in a Tamil movie sounds interesting. Since the
female lead Jessi played by Trisha is Malayalam Christian, obviously the song
finds a place in the album. Acclaimed Malayalam lyricist Kaithapram has penned
the song with Malayalam music composer Alphonse singing it. High in
instrumentation and quick changing rhythms, the song makes one brisk at the
first listen itself. Mixed emotions flow as we listen to it.
On the whole, Vinnaithandi Varuvaya is a cute little album that has
experimental score by Rahman. The man with Midas Touch, Rahman is at again. The
album is a rich treasure not just for Rahman-fans but to genuine music-lovers
too. The music composer seems to have set a trend which others would soon
emulate.
Verdict:
4 / 5

you guys are right about that.

[arr] Exclusive : Raavan and Endhiran release dates confirmed

2010-01-15 Thread Vishal
The release date of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachhcan starrer
"Raavan" directed by Mani Ratnam has been confirmed to June 18th. That means we
can expect the music to hit the stores in early May!! (Remember, Mani's last
film 'Guru' with AbhiAsh relesed on Jan 12th 2007 whereas the music was out on
November 18th, 2006!)

This will be ARR's 9th film with Ash! It also stars the likes of Vikram,
Govinda and Priyamani! It is to be remembered that Gulzar is writing the lyrics
of the high budget magnum opus! This is the most awaited Bollywood film after
the year!

Another huge film "Endhiran" starring Rajnikanth and Ash again is said to be
90% complete and is readying itself for a Diwali release(November 5th).

With both the films, Ash will become the first ever actor to do 10 films with
ARR! For more on the release dates, refer the following links:-

Exactly guys, the visual + music is just mindblowing. I see another Mani-ARR
combo with Gautham-ARR combo.

Manaf, actually i did. was expecting Madhushree atleast in 1 song, since it an
ARR album. But as we know, Gautham is totally against using north indian
singers. i remmeber Madhushree sang in Gautham's movie "
Pacchaikilimuthucharam", but her version was not used and gautham asked harris
to record the same song with Bombay Jayashree and used hers instead. Harris is
kind enough to include Madhushree's version in the cd.

Could you elaborate what exactly are you feeling about it?

Routine means you have heard similar sounds before? Which song you
feel so about and could you mention the earlier songs that it brings
to your mind?

[arr] BGM portion of anbil avan looking awsome.........

2010-01-15 Thread devan ss
bgm portion of anbil avan looking really awsome.. Am i?

many guys praised so much about kannukkul kannai song, but it doesn'nt feel so
special for me Aaromale is terrific and superb. Its my favourite of the
album... The chorus singing portion in that song lacks clarity in malayalam
lyrics especially towards the end of that portion. Many thanks for lyrist
kaithapram who wrote such beautiful lyrics for that song with the full soul of
that song. The quality and packing of the cd is really good. Thanks for
sony music. For blue, that was lacking.  Ya many songs was looking quirky for me
for the first hearing.. But now all are my favourites.VTV will be a blockbuster
sound track of this year..
