Re: [arr] Are you for or against ARR redoing CWG theme song

2010-09-05 Thread Gobi Kanadasan
I hope ARR redo this song. For a sporting event, the anthem will reach out
every part of the nation (in fact, to the world) with fast numbers and catchy
wordsThose are the lacking factors in the song. As an ardent fan of ARR, I
find it hard to take when people started to question his ability to compose
song for this type of event. In order to shut the mouth of the critics, it's
better for him to re-compose the song with a catchy tune and better lyrics. If
this remains, the media will always point out that ARR did not bring out the
best of him when desperately needed.

3.What are the movies, first offered to you but due to unavoidable

[arr] Confirmation about next film of ARR with Gautham......

2010-03-04 Thread Gobi Kanadasan
Does this confirms that ARR will be part of this project? Gopal or Vijay may
clarify this.

Details of Gautham- Ajith film

By Moviebuzz  | Friday, 05 March ,
2010, 11:00

It’s confirmed that Gautham Menon and Ajith are coming together in Dhyanidhi
Alagiri’s new untitled film.
Gautham in an interview said: “I have to complete the low budget
thriller with Sameera Reddy and newcomer Veera, which will take a
month. Then I will start work on my film with Ajith towards the end of
May”.

Gautham denied his Ajith film has been titled Thuppariyum Anand. Says Gautham:
“Yes I have written a script called Thuppariyum Anand,
about a detective in 1920’s Madras and given it to Mr. Kamal Hassan and
Mr. Aamir Khan. I’m hoping that one of them will do the film.”
Added Gautham: “Once and for all I would like to say that the Ajith
film is untitled and it is a mass entertainer. All technicians who
worked with me in VTV will be a part of this new film, while I’m on the
lookout for a heroine.”
Meanwhile Ajith has signed up for one season of F2 racing. The star is
quoted saying: “ Since Gautham wanted some more time to complete the
story and scripting, I decided to indulge in my passion, as I want my
50th film to be a win-win situation for all involved in the film.”

2010-02-28 Thread Gobi Kanadasan
But, Gautham has mentioned in the interviews that he is hoping his collabration
with ARR will continue. I sincerely hope so. The visuals were stunning in VTV.
ARR should work with him more in order not to waste his soulful music to cheap
visuals. At the same time, we should not complain much because we do not know
the real scenario of choosing a music director for a movie. At times, the
director's hands are tied by other factors. Lets hope for the best and prepare

Personally, I think it will be a super-hit movie. It has all the elements that
could satisy the audience. I think songs are well discussed before and they are
far too excellent. BGM was just mind-blowing. Could you imagine Musthapa
Musthapa song in it? It was an excellent placement. Just a simple WOW!!!
Gautam's story was an intense love story. The climax was a mixture of class

It could not have been better presented. Hopefully, all the movie buffs will

2010-01-20 Thread Gobi Kanadasan
2010:
  KOLLYWOOD’S YEAR AHEAD

The time has come to look
ahead.
2010 has set in and brings
with
  it a whole lot of
expectations
and hopes. What else will we
  be looking forward to other
  than the biggest movies of
the
  year and other events that
relate
  to cinema? Sports buffs will
be over the moon this year as
  there are many top notch
international
  events waiting for them
including
the T20 World Cup, the IPL,
  the FIFA World Cup, the
Hockey
  World Cup, the Commonwealth
  Games and other regular
events
of the calendar year. Add to
  that the excitement that is
  brought about by the return
  of Michael Schumacher to F1
  racing. We can promise Tamil
cine buffs that 2010 is going
to be no less exciting for
you.

Yes, Pongal was not the usual
  star studded affair in spite
  of some very interesting
releases.
But, the star march starts in
  early February with Ajith
appearing
in Asal, his 49th movie. But,
2010 will not be about the
49th
movie, it will be about the
half century of two of the
biggest,
  young (relatively) stars of
Kollywood. It is going to be
50 for both Vijay and Ajith.
While Vijay is on his way
with
  the shooting for Sura
progressing
  fast, Ajith is yet to
finalize
  his plans though there are
pretty
  strong indications that it
might
be Gautham Menon who gets his
  dates. Sura is definitely a
  2010 offering though the date
  has not yet been announced
and
  Ajith’s 50th too is expected
  to be ready before 2011
begins.

  Just imagine, what have been
  said above are the relatively
  smaller things as compared to
the real big draws of 2010.

I've checked various VTV reviews abound, and not all reviews are full
throttle positive, which is fine. People are entitled to their own opinions.
But, one word that I'm seeing being thrown around by some on the web to
describe some of the music on VTV is amateurish .

Am I missing something? The music of VTV to me is very mature, thorough,
thoughtful, deep, intricate, purposeful, and very crafty. I don't know based
on what type of perception that some people are coming up with the word
amateurish. If it was just one person who used this word, I wouldn't care
to mention it and wouldn't care in general, but it's a word used by several
(won't mention names or websites to avoid off topic discussions) . Someone
just recently described the music of Hosanna as amateurish. Huh?

Can anyone throw some light onto this? Does anyone else feel this way? If you
do, that's fine, I would just like to know why you think so.

project(s). So, I believe that he will work with ARR more after this. Infact,
he mentioned that he is comfortable working with ARR. I believe that it was not
a diplomatic statement; it was a sincere one. Moreover, he realized that the
reach of the VTV music is universal and people who does not know the lyrics,
now listen to the songs. In my opinion, he captures the mood of the songs by
minute detail and present them beautifully. I'm sure many would agree with me.
Hopefully, this combo continues. If anyone in this group knows Gautham, please

Post- Naan Kadavul, Bala seems to have zeroed down on actor Aarya again
for his next directorial. Since the film is based on the lives of two
brothers, Bala seems to have roped in actor Vishal as well.

The
latest buzz we hear is that producer Kalapathy S Agoram seems to be
much interesting in producing this film. Unlike Bala’s previous films,
this untitled flick will be a commercial entertainer with equal mix of
comedy and action-packed sequences.

According to the closer sources, they’ve mentioned that for the first time Bala
has plans about working with A.R. Rahman. In
the past, Ilayaraja had scored music for all his films
(except ‘Nanda’
that had Ilayaraja’s son Yuvan Shankar tuning melodies).

Bala seems to have already completed the script works and would start shooting
for the film.

Hope ARR opts out a GM quickie and takes on Rajiv's Dhun.

[arr] Expectation from our Boss

2009-06-04 Thread Gobi Kanadasan
Dear Rahmaniacs,

I sincerely wish that the new voices that is going to be introduced by ARR in
future will have unique voice. What I'm trying to say is that 10 people may
have talent and knowledge about music, but the one should be given chance is
the one who has special voice. Merely by listening to his/her voice, the people
could recognize the singer. For example, Naresh Iyer, Karthik, Hariharan,
Shankar Mahadevan, Swarnalatha, SPB. Nowadays, there are tendency among the
youngsters that they wanna sing like Hariharan (quoted from what SPB has said
in one of the interviews). In my opinion, this is not a healthy trend. Voice
identity will prolong the singer's career and could carve a special place among
the listeners. Hope this kind request reaches ARR.

[arr] Re: Music would be by A. R. Rahman - Gowtham Menon

2008-11-19 Thread Gobi Kanadasan
I believe that Gautham will forge a wonderful combination with ARR. Its the way
the director visualize the scene to music director will bring out the best out
of music director. Even though ARR has produced so many mesmerizing tunes, his
efforts are wasted by flop movies and un-attractive picturization (it is said
by himself in one of the interviews). No wonder why his works with Maniratnam
Shankar always being hailed as ARR best. So in this case, Gautham has
reputation of giving importance of music and picturizing the song beautifully.
Hence, I believe ARR will elevate Gautham's film to next level with his music.
Since he is not the guy who makes 5 films a year, I dont think he will have
problem to get ARR music for his films. Hope ARR-Gautham combination works as
Mani-ARR after Mani's split with IR.

 LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 2007 - 08

 Presented to

 Mr. A.R. RAHMAN

A prodigious composer and songwriter, whose music has sold millions of
copies worldwide, Chennai's A.R. Rahman has been hailed as a melodic
genius by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and his phenomenal success in Indian
films has earned him the title the Asian Mozart.

Rahman has brought about a freshness, a new sound to film music, says Asha
Bhonsle. Ustad Zakir Hussain proclaims, He is an amazing master of Western
classical, jazz, rock, and Carnatic music, and to the Bollywood Movie
Moghul Subash Ghai, Rahman is the biggest representative of Indian music.

The eminently gifted Rahman started his career composing jingles for
advertising films in the early 90's. Today he is credited with creating the
richest legacy of film music any modern music director has ever crafted.
Rahman doesn't write what's thought of as world music. He writes a world of
music so broad and deep, so instantly likable and lastingly satisfying, it
is the whole world, says Richard Corliss, from TIME Magazine.

After starting with 'Roja' (1992), Rahman never looked back. The songs
became a national rage and topped the popularity charts. 'Roja' earned him
the National Award for best music composer - the first time ever a debutant
has bagged this honour. Rahman followed it up with his first exclusive Hindi
compositions for 'Rangeela' (1995). He offered new sounds, and hitherto
unheard tonal variations that catapulted him to the top

 rung of Bollywood.

Rahman, who has redefined contemporary Indian music, continued his colossal
stride with memorable compositions for movies like 'Bombay', 'Dil Se',
'Taal', 'Lagaan', 'Kadhalan', 'Indian', 'Duet', 'Minsara Kanaavu' and many
more. His soundtracks gained him recognition across the country for his
elegant fusion of various styles like Carnatic, Hindustani, classical, folk,
 jazz, reggae, and soft rock.

In 1997 he set 'Vande Mataram' to new music on the occasion of the golden
jubilee of India's Independence. In 2001, the legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber
invited him to collaborate on his smashing musical, 'Bombay Dreams', which
opened to packed houses in London and ran non-stop for two years.

Born on January 6, 1966, Rahman belonged to a musically inclined family. He
started learning piano at the age of four. At nine, his father, a music
arranger, expired, leaving on his young shoulders, the burden of supporting
the family. He cut his musical teeth at 11 in South India's famous music
director, Ilayaraja's orchestra, as a keyboard player.

With Ilayaraja and subsequently with other troupes, including those of tabla
maestro Zakir Hussain, Vishwanathan-Ramamurthy and L. Shankar, the young
Rahman travelled round the world. In between he won a coveted degree in
Western classical music from the Oxford University. Rahman has worked with
internationally reputed artistes and groups like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan,
Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Jean Michel

Jarre, Sir Andrew LLoyd Webber, Deep Forest, Apache Indian, Zakir Hussain,
Dominic Miller, L.Shankar, David Byrne, Kadri Gopalnath, Vikku Vinayakram,
Ustad Sultan Khan and Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, among many others.

CNN, in a special programme, listed the world's best music directors and
placed Rahman amidst the big names like Ennio Morricone and Hans Zimmer.
Rahman's music has sold millions of copies worldwide in a career spanning
over a decade. He has overtaken the likes of Madonna and Britney Spears in
the sales of his cassettes. CNN called Rahman the Maestro of Madras who has
sold albums more than the Beatles.

His work has won him a slew of international prizes and citations. He has
won the India's National Film Award for Best Music Direction four times and
the GIFA Awards - Malaysia, for Best Music, twice. He won his 21st Filmfare
award this year for Guru. He now holds the record for the maximum number
of Filmfare awards. He has received the Best Music Direction award from
IIFA several times since 2000. This year he won

 three awards at

[arr] ARR Come Back Plea

2008-05-20 Thread Gobi Kanadasan
Dear ARR fans,

After 16 years, I felt like ARR has gone too far in front of us(Tamil fans).
I felt like ARR has left us searching for his soul stirring numbers that were
haunting us for years in 90's. It has been quite sad to hear ARR Tamil songs
only once in a year for Tamil fans nowadays. ARR used to say, the Tamilians
expect a lot from him. In my opinion, not only Tamilians but fans from all over
the world expect the best from him. I dont remember him making us upset. In a
nutshell, we (I hope there will be someone with me) want ARR to do more Tamil
films. Plz dunt let us to search any more. I'm not against him doing Hindi
projects and international projects, but plz allocate some time for Tamil
films. We need you. 'Its like a man who has grown up by leaps and bounds

this title. After this, he is acting in another name 'remake' movie entitled

after ARR as their benchmark, but at the same time I totally disagree with the
one who said, this movie's music director is going to be next ARR. 'NO ONE CAN

millions of ARR fans with me to support this.
