[arr] Silent Invocation C an inspiration
Yesterday I was listening to the 'Silent Invocation C' first time (properly) from the album 'Connection' and found out the similarity of the flute's tune with the Islamic salaato salaam called Ya Nabi Salaam Alayka. Listen to it from 0:35. In 'silent invocation' the tempo is bit slower just that's a difference bitween both the tunes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_QN4nbusfkfeature=related I m not saying that its a copy but I think its a good thinking of ARR to use that tune in 'invocation' as that tune is really melodious n soothing perfect for the invocation.

On other hand I think he has given that innovative equivalent music in saathiya (not all the songs), Rang De Basanti, JTYJN n Delhi6 and these movies r of 2000's, so i think he can surly give that standard and that innovative equivalent music again. You have a distinct voice that was very different from what was in vogue then. Did you face initial rejection when you started out? I was rejected outright when I did my first audition for a documentary film. But I consider myself lucky; I have been blessed by god. Iâm an original singer and have done well in these 40 years. I wouldnât say it was easy, but I am a very positive person. I made my limitations my strength and now my career is on an upswing, touchwood! Some singers try to copy you. Do you take that as a compliment? Oh yes! Itâs wonderful to see young people not only try to sing like me, but also try to emulate my style of singing. I love it! Itâs a great feeling. You started out singing at nightclubs.. . (Interrupting) I still do and I love every bit of singing at nightclubs. But I never had any bad incident. I guess it depends on how you carry yourself. Here I was, in a saree, singing with all my heart. It was and probably will always be the prerogative of some people to come to nightclubs wearing slinky outfits. But you see, I came on and I changed it (smiles). You made the saree and big bindi your trademark style. Who inspired you to follow that style? No one. I wish I could give you some sensational piece of information but I come from a middle class family and it didnât seem necessary for me to focus on how I looked. Yes, it did matter to me how well turned out I am. But honestly, the sari, the bindi, the gajra⦠nothing was planned. Earlier, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar or Asha Bhonsle were just voices till the electronic media came into the picture and brought them out. This is not to say they were not wearing nice clothes. But it wasnât important for any of us to be body-conscious. But Iâm happy to see so many youngsters so competitive and body conscious. And much of it can be credited to Bollywood. Is it difficult for you to do playback singing for actresses, because of a heavier voice? (Emphatically) Of course! Thereâs this pre-conceived notion that songs for the good girls have to be Lata or Asha, and bad girls, me. This kind of notion is especially true for India. I canât see it changing in terms of playback singing. What do you think of the present Indian pop music scene? Sky is the limit. Itâs great to see the way things have changed, making way for technology and electronica in music. The music reality shows on TV are an amazing platform for the youth. However, todayâs music lacks the soul. Analog recording had more warmth. But I do believe that change has to come because life is cyclic and everything has to come back to what it was. Iâm sure one day, someone might stop and say, âHey! Letâs get that magic and soul back to the songs.â What do you think composers like Shantanu Moitra, Shankar-Ehsaan- Loy, Himmesh Reshammiya? They are brilliant! Theyâve got both classical and western background in music, which is great. Shantanu and Shankarâs teams are wonderful. I donât know Himmesh so much. But he must have done something wonderful to get people going crazy over him. You have performed before Indira Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Jomo Kenyatta. Any fond memories you recall? When I sang âMalaikaâ for Jomo Kenyatta, the President of Kenya, he told me that with my kind of voice, I should belong to the African world. I remember that day vividly. Meeting Mandela and Mother Teresa were wonderful experiences too. Any particular composer youâd like to work with? Yes, Shankar-Ehsaan- Loy and AR Rahman once again. What was it like to sing for the Celebrate Bandra Festival? Itâs the most magical experience, as a singer, to be on stage. Any artiste should give an arm and leg to be there. Itâs also the 40th year of my singing career, so it was special. I wouldnât say that it was like coming home because I keep going to Mumbai all the time. You grew up in Bombay. Donât you ever want to come back and settle here? (Earnestly) I love it when I land in Mumbai. I learnt to cook, stitch, live in this city. Ashok brother, Wel bro thats what u think that Lucky Ali will make a mistake N this is the worst comment anyone can say about any singer. How can u say that without knowing it ? If u haven't heard the 'Sunoh' album of Lucky Ali then please listen to it, its an exceptional album till date. To me, Delhi 6's music is of that class, that level, as is Jodha Akbar, Meenaxi, Swades, Lagaan, Zubeidaa, Alai Payuthey, Kandukonden, Taal, etc. Expect the music of Raavan to be in the same league. I think what many people like about Dil Se and what they miss is the incredible Sufi style dominance of that soundtrack. In recent albums, ARR has created amazing Sufi songs in isolation within a soundtrack, but the Sufi genre did not define the soundtrack. In Dil Se, it did. So, when or if ARR creates a Sufi oriented soundtrack, not just a song or two, I think that's when some people's thirst is finally going to be quenched. --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, light4_u light4_u@ wrote: Yeah chord I feel the same about Dil Se. Excellent Chord. I admire both of them s... much. Both of them canged the face of music. Michael Jackson also achieved the perfection in dance. He showed the world what is called dancing. It's interesting the psychology of why someone's work of art becomes popular again when that person dies, supported by recent stats showing that MJ's music is topping charts worldwide again. As I downloaded some of his most famous and influential songs from Itunes recently and listened carefully, I could not help draw up some comparisons between his music and ARR's. Here are some parallels that I thought of: 1) MJ and ARR are both perfectionists. There is a quality to both their bodies of work that define high achievement and perfectionism, a certain drive and ambition and motivation to be the best they can possibly be, often working ridiculous hours to achieve this. 2) Tightness and crispness of arrangements. Both MJ and ARR boast of extremely high quality arrangements in their music and a very tight and planned set of arrangements that are line with their perfectionistic work ethics. 3) Both masters of rhythm: ARR and MJ both boast of extremely high quality rhythmic concepts and super-intelligent rhythmic patterns in their songs. Again, consistent with tightness. 4) Both are trend setters: MJ and ARR were both trend setters in their own ways. Both revolutionized music in their own respective spheres and had a huge following among artists of their kind. 5) Both are passionate about unity, diversity, and charity: MJ and ARR share a very similar type of compassion towards the world, towards the less fortunate, and both believe in transcending artificial boundaries to help unify cultures and races and highlight bonds that tie us all together, irrespective race, culture, etc. Through their music, they were able to transcend and go beyond hard set boundaries that were not able to be transcended before (ARR with regional and international reaches and MJ with racial and ethnic reaches). _ Invite your mail contacts to join your friends list with Windows Live Spaces. [arr] One of the best movement of my life
Guys I apologize for being late in this topic. I was not here to celebrate ARR's victory at GG as I was away from my home for business work. So guys plz consider this message as, soon after the GG announcement. What a movement for every ARR fan, like me who had the faith in ARR since his early days and recogniced his music as world's best, when there were people in industry and surroundings who said ARR is not that good or he won't last long here etc. Some of my class mates who praised anu malik and jatin lalit in front of me and argue with me that they r better than ARR. This movement changed every thing and proved who was correct. This is nothing, still there is much to come and much to achive for ARR in future inshaAllah. Congrats to all of you. My message for Sharukh khan. Mr. Sharukh this is the same A.R.Rahman whom u replaced with Vishal-Shekhar and whom u r praising now like india's pride, and u had said 'India mein aur bhi achche music directors hain' (there r other music directors in india who r also good).. No offence ment. I m sure he would be regrating for replacing ARR and very shameful for his comment when he was on stage of GG. I went through 40 digests of our group, each digest containing 25 messages in one night as soon as I returned home and I was feeling that I m present in that movement when ARR got awarded. Delhi 6 is on its way and seems to be very appealing movie as wel as music (of course). I think Delhi 6 music would be better than ARR 2008's work. No album in yet of Delhi 6, like always. Thank God we have songs on internet otherwise I would have died in curiosity waiting so much for ARR albums lol.. Warm Regards.

It's amzing the gamut of Sufi music ARR has rendered; Piya Haji Ali, Al Maddat Maula, and Khwaja: each song beautiful in its own way and getting me eccstatic in praise of the Almighty...the first one bearing a lot of rhythm, the second being extremely intense as if it is fervent prayer and the Khwaja song raising an vehement urge to culminate in the love of God. It was an amazing interview of boss. The thing excited me most is the mention of our group, I was thrilled and m proud to be part of this group. They also gave credits to Gopal, too good. And they are also the member of this group. Our group is doing too good, thanks to Gopal, Vijay, Vithur and other active and senior members. This group wouldn't be this much interesting without this kind of members especially Vithur. Keep it up guys. I wonder do our boss knows about this group or do he visits some time ? I think it will be a healthy debate considering the fact that hindi Gajni's treatment will be different to the tamil and perhaps even the song placements might vary. I think Aamir Khan repeating the same director would mean that the movie will be as good as the tamil and music may not seem as plantedthis time. Plz let me share my feeling with u guys otherwise i'll go mad. I m frustrated, impatient, sad, angry, disappointed and the wait for the cd is getting on my nerves. Its almost one month since the trailers of Ghajini and yet there is no audio release. I m tired of asking for the audio at music shops. The music shops owners say 'we don't have Ghajini but we have Rabne Banade Jodi' (Who cares about it). Rabne banadi Jodi's trailers came after the Ghajini's trailers, but they released the audio much much before the Ghajini. This happens always only with us (rahmanics). After listening to the 15 sec songs of Ghajini my curiosity is on rampage because I just fell in love with it. After so much frustration I have decided to rebel and now I m not going to by Ghajini audio. Just kidding :).

But I face the truth after Dil se and Taal ARR has not given that kind of mastepiece (whole album). I dont mean the same kind of music like Roja, Bombay, Dil se, Taal etc. I mean of that standard. Plz try to understand my point. Or may be ARR creats that kind of magic in 7-8 years or when ever he wants. Few songs of our boss in recent time which I like as much as those masterpieces r kabhi kabhi addity, saathiya, fanaa, oh humdum, taxi taxi, paathshala, tu binbataye, khalbali and few more. Oh! man Oh! man Oh! man yeppyyy. It seems like it will be the best movie after Rang De Basanti for our boss and for the film industry. Aamir looks stunning, mindblowing, fantastic. And what to say about our boss's music its simply awesome. Sounds like Sonu Nigam once again. And I wish form the dept of my heart that Ghajni's music leaves all the music behing in the world. And it turns out to be much better than Dil Se's muslic :) . Keep ur fingers crossed guys. [arr] Re: Is Yuvvraaj hard album or my music sense is gone?
Yes it happened with me too. Same thing happend with 'Tu hi meri dost hai' as urs. I didn't liked a single song instantly, but I knew from the first hearing that 'Shano shano' is going to rock for me in future and it did. This is first time I didn't liked the rap of Blazze, such an idiotic and comman words 'Say Ex, put the D' etc. I m also disappointed with Gulzar 'Bheje mein bhochal hain' lol.. I m sure this won't happen with Ghajni atall, it will be loved by all instantly. Loved the part 'Atke atke Kitne latke Deke bulaye tu Ander ander beech samunder Dubki khaye tu' and the music part in 'shano shano' from 5:15 to 5:45. And espicially the sound like Donald Duck at 5:37 and 5:38 lol... I also liked the remix of 'shano shano', Krishna chetan is talented guy. I have found a mistake in the lyrics from the small book with the CD, after 'Atke atke Kitne latke Deke bulaye tu' there is written 'Bachpan bachpan keha ke pachpan Chand churaye tu' which is not there in the song. I am really surprised because I never took this much time to grasp an Album. I can only think of two reasons here: 1. Either Yuvvraaj is very hard album 2. Or my music sense is gone. Maybe because of surviving instincts in this world take your innocence away from fro you and kill the artistic side of you. Did anyone else find Yuvvraaj so hard to like? [arr] Rahmaniac
You know you are a Rahman fan when 1. You have a peculiar taste in music, which does not necessarily have to match the taste of the masses. 2. You have a good sense of melody and rhythm and can tell good music from average. You appreciate good music, regardless of who it comes from. 3. You can go on for hours talking about Rahman when someone makes a mistake of asking you about your favorite music. 4. You are never content and are always hungry and thirsty for more from Rahman. 5. You have had many euphoric moments in your life.. connected with Rahman's music. 6. You agree that an average Rahman song is better than the best most of the other can churn out. 7. Regardless of how the World finds Rahman music, you think Rahman makes music just for your ears. You genuinely believe that Rahman somehow knows what kind of music you unconsciously crave and then magically delivers that to you. 8. Your most prized collection in your entire music collection is your Rahman collection, whether it's in form of cassettes, CD's or hard-disk space on computer or ipods. 9. You sometimes feel this bliss, a kind of feeling that you are in heaven, when listening to Rahman's music. 10. If the World was to go back to using the barter system again, you wouldn't mind trading a 1000 non-Rahman songs for a single Rahman song. 11. You share this special bond with Rahman which is impossible to describe in words, let alone explain it to others. 12. Your friends/family fail to understand why you listen to music in a language that makes no sense to you, whatsoever. But, a few weeks later, you totally understand why your friends/family are humming/singing the very song they don't understand and were puzzled about you listening to it. 13. You are part of the Rahman Yahoo! group and visit it at least once a day. 14. You take pleasure in new group members arguing with likes of Gops and Vijay, when they come out with some Rahman info/news. 15. You are tired of new member joining the group and inquiring about and referring to the fake Ekyam Satyam. You too hope to listen to the real one someday, if it exists somewhere. 16. You can talk to any other Rahman fan and connect with them instantly. 17. You have a deep desire to meet Rahman in person, and know deep in your heart that one day your dream will come true. 18. You have thought of it many a times and tried to come up with a plan of what you would do? How would you react? when you actually meet Rahman. 19. You can find the challenging task of solving a complex problem rather easy compared to the daunting and difficult task of coming up with your absolute top-10 Rahman favorites. 20. Any criticism of Rahman is hard for you to digest, because most of the time it comes from people that haven't heard enough of Rahman and yet have no problem talking about him. 21. Your blood pressure tends to rise when an average listener sings praises for other MDs(especially Anu Malik, Harris J, and the more recent and annoying Himesh). 22. When it comes to R.D. Burman or may be Illayaraja, you tend to put an end to the conversation by saying... No doubt, Illayaraja is the greatest, but I think Rahman is even better... because it's true. (Self-fulfilling prophecy?) 23. You are a select few in the country that are familiar with obscure terms such as BGM or Interlude etc. And furthermore, you are a rare breed of fans that actually collects and listens to these BGM and Musical bits used in commercials. 24. You can listen to an hour of non-stop Rahman interludes and guess over 80% of them right. 25. You eagerly wait for each and every Rahman release, you set very high expectations for each album, a day after the release you will bash the album as below-average, a few months later you will hail the same album as a masterpiece and one of your personal favorites. 26. You suffer from this rare condition where... you wake up from your sleep, humming or singing a Rahman tune, involuntarily. You realize the condition is severe when you randomly shout out a Rahman tune you haven't heard in a long time. 27. You may forget to take your dose of medication but you can not forget to get your daily dose of Rahman. 28. You set high expectations of Rahman, and are honored and touched that he cares about you and works hard to satisfy you. 29. You know and realize that Rahman is potentially the most creative composer to ever live in India, and may be even the World. 30. You love and respect Rahman, the human being and not just Rahman, the composer. Soo... true Kaisisom, its like u read me and my mind and throw it in words. Thanks for such a good message.

[arr] Sultan Of Persia
I just saw the new trailer of 'Sultan The Warrior' at its website. It seems Rajni's daughter is damn inspired from the game 'Prince Of Persia- The Two Thrones (3rd part)'. The direction, camera work, fighting scenes and the biggest inspiration the background, graphics are exect same. Infact the music is also lil similar. I m not telling that its copy or inspired, what I mean is the small part of electronic guitars (just about 4 seconds) is also lil similar from the second part of the game 'Prince Of Persia-Warrior Within'. And its only music of our boss that makes the scene look good. Are there any songs in the movie ? Or just the BGM and one song like 'Warriors Of Heaven And Earth'?

Hello Ramesh babu. Brother, I m not abele to stop my self to reply u after reading ur message. There is nothing wrong if any Muslim feels proud for any other Muslim brother, if he is doing well and making his people and country proud. And the biggest thing we love about ARR is that he is a very good practicing Muslim, though he is so busy man but he has time for his Lord. Not all the Muslims r like him. I just love our Boss, not only because I m a muslim and he is a muslim, but also because he is the best and his music is out of this world. There r also other Muslim music directors like salim-suleman, Nadeem from nadeem-shravan duo, naushad, ismael darbar etc. Do we talk about them or do we praise them ? No because we don't love them and we r not here to talk about them. So please brother if any one is proud of ARR for any reason (there r so many) and expressing his feeling don't stop him. No offence ment.

He informed us regarding this that Yes I m planing to make a period film, but after completing the movie named 'Whats ur rashi'. Recently, Ashutosh is working on a movie 'Whats ur rashi' which is based on the novel 'Kimbell Rewanswood' of the wrighter Indian, Gujarati based setteled in America named Madhu Rai.. Staring Harman Baweja and Prianka Chopra, this movie is going to be a comedy. So by this information we came to know about two more movies of our Boss. I don't remember any comedy movie (hindi) in which our Boss has given his magic. And again a period movie after that. Some time ago our Boss has decided not to do any more period films and then changed his mind. I think his first decision not to do any more period film was absolutely correct. In my openion.
[arr] Re: Alka Yagnik singing for Rahmans Yuvraaj
Thanks Vithur. But I wasn't talking about Yuvraj, I was talking about the other international project which she talked about which she said after yuvraj.
[arr] Re: ARR's best non-Hindi albums?
U must be kinning me buddy, boys ! let down ? I think it is the best non hindi album of our boss after bombay and humse hai muqabla. I can understand nothing as i dont know tamil or telgu, but the 'girl friend' song and 'dathing' song r my most favourites of our boss's.
[arr] Alka Yagnik singing for Rahmans Yuvraaj
Hey guys do anybody know about this project alka yagnik is talking about I am now singing for Katrina Kaif in his Yuvraaj and for an international project that he (boss) is doing ? And m so excite to hear that Sukhwinder now has two full fledged major Hollywood projects to his name the first being Danny Boyle's *Slumdog Millionaire* starring Anil Kapoor and Irfan Khan with music by AR Rahman and lyrics by Gulzar. Is this the same project alka yagnik is talking about ? May be vithur can throw some light on this.
[arr] Arr vs pritam
Yeah man even I was thinking about it. Before we had ARR vs jatin lalit, nadeem shravan, anu malik etc. and now we have ARR vs pritam, vishal shekhar, shanka ehsaan loy. Arr has overcome before. I m sure he will overcome now also inshaAllah. No doubt that arr is having real competition in bollywood these days. Though pritam is biggest copy cat at this time, but his sound is very good and he makes copied one better than original. There r very few composition of his own and they r really well. I loved the song 'zarase dilme de jagah' and 'sing is king'. I m waiting for Mithoon's next movie the md of 'the train' and 'anwar' he is also fabulous. Hey guys let me tell u I m only and only ARR fan, I can not even think of someone else taking place of ARR in my heart. I m just being honest.

A.r.Rahman is back with his hit score in rangde basanti. I love the song khalbali. This song is really extraordinary, the music is too heavy. I would love to see our boss performing in a video in his upcoming album. I know he is too shy, religious and he does not like to come on camera, but still as a fan of Rahman I request Rahman sir to give us an album like vande matram and to make more videos from it and perform yourself in it.
