Subject: [arr] JAI HO concert- disappointment

Hi to all,

Me being one of the big fan of rahmanji, was blessed to witness the jaiho
concert live among 70,000 people who filled the space from various quarters
especially from different parts of tamilnadu, chennai. The program went well
but not without minuses and am one of the disappointed fan. The reason being
too much inclusion of hindi songs that too some infamous hindi numbers
comprised the major part of the concert done by our very own tamilian, arrahman
sir. i understand the hindi songs from dilse, rangde basanti but y jodha akbar
tracks needed in chennai. There are so many thumping tracks in tamil done by
arr which would have lifted the spirits of the people majority being tamilians.
Is it not aware to rahman sir? was he being pressurized to sing only hindi
songs? Dont he know the pulse of people in chennai and the concert happening in
chennai. It was as if like the concert happened in mumbai or delhi and for a
second i doubted is it our rahman who said,
ella pugazhum iraivanuke in tamil while receiving the famous oscar award..
Really it is disappointing to say the least that if not the tracks like ,
mustafa mustafa and the final jaiho-vande mataram, the show would have been
utter disappointment to tamilians.
Rahman sir should definitely need to consider this when he does a concert
again in chennai. It's my humble request and this is my personal opinion about
the show. Im sure most of the people who attended would understand what i mean
and will agree to this disappointment. Will rahman sir perform tamil songs in a
delhi or mumbai concert???

arun

Music companies need bulk purchase guarantee. Tips has re-released
'Rangeela' 'Humse Hai Muqabala' on CDs. They also re-released 'Mr.

be open to re-release it on CD.

Thanks,

Looks difficult. A few years back I had even contacted Venus and Time Audio
authorities for the CD, only to learn that there are no CDs available for
this title. However, the music companies offer you to purchase, say 1000
CDs, in bulk; and if you go ahead, they burn the new stock for you.

Guys Aravind and Thulai, i'm very much with you on this. IR has always done

  Aravind,

m with u on this. some people will never understand and will come up with big
explanations for defending some other artists and never voice their opinion to

btw, the video is like a 80's cut with a song music having a 70's touch to

Dear Ramesh,

Being diplomatic, and avoiding arguments is one thing! Not accepting the truth
when it is staring right on your face is another.

One may argue that the lyrics are suited for the characters of the movie...
But, if you've followed Tamil industry closely, you will know that attacking
people through song lyrics, is something IR has done in the past too. That's
his style. This is NOT the first time!

BTW, the song is not picturised on any characters of the movie, it is
picturised on IR himself! It's shot like a music video, having nothing
to do with the movie itself! Here's the link for the vid http://www.youtube..
com/watch?v=vIztOkvuHTY

About IR criticising Ella Pugazhum - I dont need the media to tell me what it
is! It is crystal clear what IR is saying!

Such statements exist in Hinduism, in vedas and puranas too, where everything is
attributed to God...It is a to say I don't take credits for all my
achievements, it's all given to me by God...  It is not a matter of
philosophy, or beliefs Someone who claims to be so spiritual, whom everyone
calls a saint should very well know this and understand, whether he believes
in it or not! Even if he doesn't believe in it, do you think he should have
spoken on stage the way he did?

Do you think it is a mature comment, coming from a veteran of the stature of
IR? It is totally unwarranted and uncalled for! This is the point I'm trying to
impress upon.

I cannot believe we are still beating at this.

You should listen to the the song titled Ulagam Ippo written, composed and
sung by IR from the new album Azhagar Malai. IR's jealousy comes out clearly in
that. The song lyrics talks about how people leave the country for money and
that those people, though they may be rich, are mean and poor in his view
point! The lyrics further goes that world may change, people may go wherever,
but I'll stay here and serve the country.

The song lyrics are by Vaali. It seems appropriate for the movie ('Azhagar
Malai is about the egoistic and irate village heads and a
youngster trying to change their attitude').

It takes a creative mind to extrapolate this into inferring that IR is taking
a dig at ARR. Anyone doing so is conveniently forgetting that IR has also gone
abroad and worked/performed (his 1st Symphony conducted by John Scott
(London?), the concert in Italy, the Thiruvasagam symphony/oratorio in
Budapest...)

I can't read Tamil so I have no idea what the Kumudam article that Aravind
attached says. Pay attention to the context and the conclusion drawn. Don't
fall for the trap laid out by junk media.

The second comment about fame and God's gift is a matter of philosophy. ARR
believes in one thing and IR in another. So what? It's just like how no two
astrologers will ever agree on the same thing.

And why should it matter if a music artist is an egoist? Shouldn't you bother
only about the
music? ARR is one of a kind--
we like him for his music and also his humility and the personal example he
sets for others. It is wrong to expect that every artist will be equally humble
and kind. I'll say that it's quite common that a lot of great artists have big
egos. That's part of what pushes them to excel.

Re: [arr] PLOT AGAINST AR RAHMAN??????

2009-01-25 Thread maddy maddy
Hi All,

The article in Tamil generally undermines the slackness and ignorance of Tamil
film artistes on this rare achievement by AR. It says that not even one from
the Film Industry had come to receive him at the Airport. Apparently only AR's
loyal fans came to receive him at the airport and they escorted him right till
his residence. It also cites one incident where some of the bigwigs of tamil
film industry had come to receive a National award winning director right after
he received his award in the airport. The same enthusiasm was not shown to AR.
There is one South Indian Film Music Directors Association which didnt even
bother to send a congratulatory note. Only actor Parthiban had come to AR's
home and wished him. At one point AR himself asked if there were any tamil
magazine reporters who had come to interview him. Most of them were from News
Channels.

Is this the way you treat a World beater.

I dont dispute the fact that ARR revolutionized
 Indian Film

 Besides, ARR is a
humble disciple of IR. So, it would be nice of him
 if he credits his
guru when he talks about learning music. He can
 credit many others
too, but the fact that IR was the biggest musical
 phenomenon prior to
 ARR must not be forgotten.
IR cannot credit ARR because IR didnt learn
 anything from ARR
(musically atleast, although both learnt programming
 techniques while
 working together).

Also, instead of weaving rivalry between them
 (and their fans),
one should genuinely agree that both are geniuses in
 their own ways.
and It would be such a nice event to see ARR saying
 a good word or
two, about his one time master. Atleast, Rahman
 being hs humble and
down to earth self, should credit his guru.

and regarding why IR never credited ARR...well,
 the analogies can
be many. R.D.Burman always credited his father
 S.D.Burman for
instilling music in him...but did S.D.Burman ever
 talk about
R.D.Burman? Did Shiv Kumar Sharma ever credit Rahul
 Sharma (both are
santoor maestros)? never. that doesnt mean that
 there was any
rivalry...its just a generation seldom talks about
 next generation. I
am sure Rahman wouldnt credit some composer X, who
 could be at the
top (however good or bad he may be...) 10 years from
 now. Its only
the next generation which should look up to the
 previous one, with
 veneration.

I too was taken aback when rahman doesnt speak
 about his musical
experiences (musical learnings, apart from the fact
 that IR made
great music without alcohol, which rahman often
 says) with IR.
afterall, ARR was the only rightful successor to IR,
 because both
have a pious appraoch towards music.

Re: [arr] A look into how the music directors work

2006-03-26 Thread maddy maddy
Hi Everybody,
I think this is one of the stupidest articles about
Music directors works. The guy who wrote this article
must be a novice.Look at his words and command over
english.Pathetic.Above all he says that Rahman doesnt
care much about Background scores cos his assistants
would take care of that. How stupid.Just remind him
that he has won the Best Background score awards for
Swades and Legend of Bhagat Singh.

Behindwoods is always stupid and tries spreading only
rumours and unwarranted information.

I request all you fans to ignore this website

Thanks

--- Pankaj Kakkar [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

 hi Yasheer
ur words ok abt MDs. But a small correction, Udit
Narayan Sadna Sargam was introduced By MD-VIDYA
SAGAR IN TAMIL well before ARR's to take notice of
those singers. Both the Singers UN and SS had
themselves told in an interview long before and also
in Vidyasagar's interview, he listed out the singers
whom he gave the first break in Tamil, there also he
himself had mentioned about UN SS. We can take as
ARR tuned their voices more into limelight fame.
 Pankaj

 yasheer_ar2 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
Don't think that the work of a music director is
 just setting music
to verses and making a few sounds when the scenes
 unroll. He is a
part and parcel of the movies, recording events,
 emotions and plots
in a style that he knows well—music. The music of
 every music
director has its own signature, be it Ilayaraja or A
 R Rahman. Let
us look into the styles of how well-known music
 directors work.

Ilaya Raja, the master of re-recording

The maestro is considered as the master of
 re-recording. Observe his
background music and you are sure to find subtle
 allusions to and
the nuances of the plot. Raja takes his own time to
 work for a movie
and you can't goad him to meet a deadline. He is
 fastidious about
songs. Who writes the lyrics, what the context is
 and which hero or
character sings matter a lot. Not surprisingly,
 several directors
and producers owe their film's success to the
 maestro. When he is at
the recording theatre, he is a different man, very
 religious
regarding music. Smokers and tipsters are banned at
 his place of
 work.

 Recent best seller: Virumaandi
 Much expected: Maayakkannadi

A R Rahman – hardwork and smart work

Rahman is religious in his personal life but, when
 it comes to music
he is totally unorthodox. Working almost eighteen
 hours a day, his
work culture is hard work, smart work and creative
 work all rolled
into one. Well, that takes a lot of time and in the
 industry, he is
known for his slow pace. He may even take a month
 just to set a song
in music. He doesn't bother much about re-recording.
 Anyway, that is
taken care of by his assistants.

Everytime AR Rahman teams up with movie stalwarts
 like Manirathnam
and Shankar, it has always resulted in chart-buster
 numbers.
However, when he works with other directors who show
 a lot of
promise, like Pravin Gandhi and AM Jothikrishna,
 though the songs
are a big hit, the movies fail. As Rahman has
 himself confesed, the
mystery behind a winning combination still remains
 elusive. So he is
quite choosy about the directors he would work with.

If there is one thing that Rahman is famous for,
 well, it is his
penchant for new talents. It was he who introduced
 Unni Krishnan,
Sadhana Sargam, Udit Narayan, Karthik, Srinivas and
 Nithya Shree
 into playback singing in Tamil.

 Recent bestseller: Godfather
 Much expected: Sivaji, Guru

 Harris – Director's Music director

Harris has always been a lucky mascot even for
 debutante directors.
That puts him in the big league and he comes a close
 second to AR
Rahman, in the current list of top music directors.
 Harris Jeyaraj
is also a tech-savvy music director, who understands
 the needs of
the director and gives just that – nothing more,
 nothing less.
Harris has a bunch of hit films and songs which have
 become
favorites like Vaseegara from Minnalae, Povvae from
 12B. He has a
sensitive approach towards the lyrics and his tunes
 always
complement the lyrics. Examples, Gulmohar Malarae in
 Majnu and
 Moongil kadugalae in Samurai.

Harris has slight similarity with `Isai Puyal' with
 respect to
working style. He has good judgment of the mood of
 the song. His
versatility can be seen from his range of melodious
 to a polished
kuthu pattu , best example being 12B's theme music.

 Recent bestseller: Vettaiyadu vilaiyadu
 Much expected: July Katru

getting to ARR while he was in Mecca for Hadj. They
were not real fans of his music. But from what
they told me is that HE IS A GREAT HUMAN BEING AND A

discuss this as it relates to the pilgrimage. Even if
I accidently see him while I am at Hadj I
can't even take a picture with him or discuss his

prohibits them.

Re: [arr] Jeans BGMs (voiceless) + plus the song not included in CDs/Tapes.

2006-01-10 Thread maddy maddy
I would love to hear Rangeela BGM.There are two places
where i got goosepimples when i saw and heard them.

In Rangeela,

1) Every time Urmila ignores Aamir and goes to the
party..to Goa...you know the places when he gets
really disappointed.I bought the DVD especially for
this piece.

2) When Urmila hears about her heroine chance onthe
phone and she rushes out to tell that to Aamir
khan. Its starts with a peculiar sound and there is
this Rangeela reee in the background

Stupendous

Love to see that movie so many times especialy for the
score.

I have ripped BGMs for quite a few albums so far,
 Alhamdulillah. But
I was not expecting this from Jeans. There are not
 a lot of pieces,
it's not done in sync sound, he has actually used
 some of the song
tunes as BGM, and still the BGMs are just awesome.
 It is the first
time I cried, while ripping a BGM. The Infants BGM
 and the Fake BGM
made me cry. Overall, Jeans BGM turned out to be
 quite refreshing.
One of the BGMs sounds like Desh Ki Mitti from Bose,
 just the
beginning part, for a few seconds. There is also
 the song sung by
 Sonu Nigam(sorry, I have Jeans in Hindi)...Zindagi
 Mujhe Tu, not
featured in tapes or CDs probably because it's
 short.

 whole day on net searching
for it ..but couldnt get ...

the oh oh oohoh oh ohooh oh part from rukkumani
 rukkumani ...is inspired
 by one mettalica song ...

guys i once made a list of arr listed tunes and
posted it to the group (
just after kaathal virus release ) and i got many
 confirmations that i was
indeed right ... does someone remember that list
 ?..

there are only say less than ten songs .. that
 happens with all music
directors. its just getting over inspired by
 some tunes and ending up
 resembling it

i dont think u can name arr as a copycat because
 the gems from him are
all pure arr compositions in tune ( he has got a bad
 habit of occasionally
copying orchestra , beats and instrumentations from
 western music )

if u read the page on the boss on
 www.itwofs.com you'll
see that no tunes have been lifted from any of the
 original songs,only
samples from them or indeed maybe from another
 common source have been
  taken.

Re: [arr] TU BIN BATAYE IS SOOOOOO SMOOOOOOOTH AND ROMANTIC

2005-12-14 Thread maddy maddy
Hey Manish,
Ishaer the same feeling as you.The sax part in the
middle is very nicely done. I 'm loving this song more
and more and i ve heard it nearly times repeatedly.
The words are great. Overal the best song of the
album.

Madhusree's voice is haunting here.It reminds me of
some old singer.I love this voice. Thanks to rahman for
finding this voice.

long live arr long live music

The song starts Madhushree sings T when I
listened to it first time I was confused that one
more song by Lata Ji is there in the album and I had
to check the CD cover and I was amazed at her
singing and she has definitely improved a lot

Parsoon Joshi has definitely done wonderful work
 in this album
His earlier work in mann ke manjeere was also
 awesome
   (Sane haath maati ke)

You will agree that this song is very different
because rahman sir have not used his usual
signatures in this particular song of the album

He has left the song very simple, smooth and sweet
 not twisting it at all

I mean if someone listens to this song without
knowing that it is composed by our boss only and
only very keen listeners of ARR can tell that it is
 ARR song.

What do you guys think it is a very different gift
to us fans by our BOSS?

The whole song goes on and on very smoothly you
can listen to it infinite number of times and find
 it interesting every time

And guess what guys it is a perfect song for
 ROMANCE
I mean truly I have done romance of my life acc to
 ARR’s music
His music just touches your heart sooo sofly
   No words

And really guys when naresh sings “mann ki gully”
   It takes my breath away

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG

   LOVE
   Manish

Re: [arr] ARR fans deserve respect from Music Companies !!

2005-11-12 Thread maddy maddy
dinesh,
It woudld be great if that really happens.
I'm sure ARR fans will agree for that.

Dear ARR Fans,

The past one month has been great, thanks mainly to AJ
for
his dialogue-less BGMs and to Neil for his
compilation of all BGMs
at one source. Both of you guys have done a tremendous
job. 3
Cheers

That brings me to a serious subject. In my opinion,
ARR fans are not
getting proper recognition from the music companies
nor the event
managers. From the mails post Bangalore concert, and
the non-release
of albums such as Rising BGM ( which gave us the
talent of AJ ! )
and now-on, now-off story of WATER, I certainly feel
that the music
companies have not realized the true potential of ARR
fan club.

Taking into account the forum like this email group, I
am sure, we as
registered fans would count atleast 2 on an rough
estimate
I am sure, the number must be above 100,000 on any day
!!! still,
lets be extra cautious in our estimates.

Why do not we convert this forum and this number of
ARR fans into a
potential market force ??? If we are a Forum of
dedicated ORIGINAL
music purchasers, I am sure, the music companies
should take a notice
of our presence and we can demand a better product,
better price, and
timely release of albums. With a captive purchase of
say 2 CDs,
would the producers of RISING BGM be interested in
bringing out a
special release just for us ? They won't have to spend
money on
advertisement nor they have to promote this release
everywhere. All
they have to do is join hands with the music stores
and inform us
prior to release to make advance booking. OK,
difficult ? fine, then
release the albums on internet for legal download at
say 2 to 5
Rupees per song. This way they can recover their money
and do not
have to record a single CD nor even print the cover !

All this may sound too simple, but the marketing
companies can
refine the solution to fit into their business models
to make it
viable.

We are fans of ARR's music and if the music companies
realize this
and treat us with respect and take notice of our
needs, we do not
have to look for easy downloads and spend our money
and time in
staring at the download screen. We would be proudly
purchasing
genuine music if it were offered to us, however if
there are no legit
sources, then we, as hungry fans of music, would have
to find our own
sources and then that would be hurting everybody.

Finally, how about us planning a special special ARR
programme just
for us fans

Aim big !
Dinesh
