Yes. The film is worth a watch. It didn't have a dull moment and the comedy was

seduce many reviewers but the movie, which marks the debut of A R Rahman [
Images  ] in
Hollywood, grossed about $160 million worldwide.

This is one of those movies that make the snobbish critics sulk while the
producers are busy moving millions into their banks.

The film is not a laugh riot but it is good for a time-pass evening. There
is hardly anything that will upset a family of college bound children. But
it is not to be weatched with kids below 16. The deleted scenes and several
other extras offer a genuine bonus.

Producer-turned-director Peter Billingsley has extracted decent performances
from a talented cast.

The romantic comedy, in which four couples with midlife crisis take off to
an exotic vacation only to realise that they have to work very hard and bond
with each other before attaining their marital goal, brings together actors
and writers Vince Vaughn [

and Jon Favreau, who team up after their '90s career-making cult hit, *
Swingers.*

The cast includes Kristin Bell (*Forgetting Sarah Marshall*, and TV's *Gossip
Girl* ), Jason Bateman (*Up in the Air*, TV's *Arrested Development*)

Each couple has its own problems: one is unhappy because they haven't had a
child, another are unhappy with their parenting duties and complain that
they have little time for romance; wandering eyes cause a problem too, and
an older man dating a bimbo is not sure how he should proceed.

'Fans of romantic comedies, and comedies of manners, will be delighted at
the snappy interaction among the actors, and the zingers delivered by the
script,' wrote reviewer A T Hurtley. He is among a handful of critics who
liked the film.

Among the surprises in the film is the French actor Reno who is deadpan face
in many situations but adds a lot of laughs as New Age director of the
retreat.

Billingsley, who started his career as a child career, told  *Entertainment
Weekly* why he thrusts his derriere in Jason Bateman's face during that yoga
class: 'I did an episode of *Little House on the Prairie* with Jason when I

The Couples Retreat soundtrack. A.R. Rahman has sold more than 100 million 
records worldwide, plus 200 million cassettes. Yes, cassettes. He's one of the 
world's all time top selling recording artists, and a very influential figure 
indeed. He was also the first Indian citizen to win an Academy Award for his 
Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack in 2008 – and just to show off, he won two. For 
the Couples Retreat soundtrack, his first work with a Hollywood studio, the 
Indian John Williams has produced a humourless if not entirely charmless 
accompaniment to a Vaughn/Favreau comedy, which treads a thin line between 
orchestral ambience and inconsequence, and ends up sounding something like 
James Bond's massage music.

Melding mild intrigue with jaunty woodwind and bongo rhythms might make a 
fitting accompaniment to the film's tropical island imagery, but it sure 
doesn't make for a thrilling listen. Pleasant would be a good way to describe 
it, if I wasn't so tempted to call it dull. And if I wasn't so assaulted with 
images of middle class men in hemp trousers hanging dreamcatchers over their 
futons.

Rahman's Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack was a different kettle of fish 
altogether, but applying his undoubted compositional skill to a multiplex 
friendly relationship comedy seems to have had a detrimental effect on his brio 
– the weaker tracks here have little more character than the title music to an 
RPG. Maybe some of the appeal of mixing traditional Indian musicality with the 
atypical symphony scoring of a Hollywood crowd-pleaser is lost in translation.

but today the moment i heard the soundtrack of COUPLES RETREAT i decided no
matter how long it is going to take for me to go to bed i will come and
share the experience in this group...

i could see OUR RAHMAN sir in the melody

I just have one question what is the capacity of Rahman sir's brain... as a
musician i m little disappointed too... he is not letting off any style for
others to touch... he is exploring every new possible way and becoming a

in the album

OH MY GAWD...!!! a brilliant blend of east and west... starting with ghatam

  A music producer can do anything from making coffee to just 
sitting back and listening. That sounds like an easy job, and it can be. When 
you have a great recording engineer doing the recording, and great artists and 
musicians around you creating great music a producer's job becomes very easy. 
But when you are on a budget with very limit studio time, a busy schedule, a 
singer that keeps messing up the vocal track because he/she is nervous, the 
drummer that can't get the groove right, a recording engineer who can't get the 
computer to record the next track your job as a producer becomes a lot more 
challenging. And this is what being a good producer is being about. At these 
moments a producer needs to be a problem solver and make decisions. Every 
producer does it differently, but the result is the same, a recorded and well 
produced song.



To be able to make it work a producer may have to get involved with the 
technical stuff and help the recording engineer out. Or you may have to get the 
singer to make the vocal track work with the song by changing the lyrics, 
changing the melody or give some vocal pointers. It may also involve rewriting 
part of the music by changing chords, adding samples and sound effects and 
creating a complete new drum rhythm from scratch. And there are a lot of other 
situations where a good producer needs to take charge and show why he (or she) 
is the producer.



Being a producer can involve



Getting into the music (music theory)

Getting into the songwriting process and learning about songwriting and 
sequencing

Knowing some things about recording

Being able to work with musicians and artist and get the best out of them

Working with a recording engineer and other studio owners

Using sound effects, samples and other techniques to make song sound different 
and unique

Mixing and editing the song

Mastering the song



In today's music the producer is usually also a songwriter, a musician and 
recording engineer. This makes the job both easier and more difficult.

This guy has a tendency in wanting to write a review of any ARR album at the 
earliest. The same was with Blue.. I mean you got to give due justice to every

we have heard in any language in the near past!!

the Hindi word ‘Sajna Sajna Re…’ The English lyrics are mesmerizingly touching 
and perhaps, the western people wouldn’t have listened to such an appealing 
melody.

KURU KURU…Vocal: A.R. RahmanFine! After uttering ‘Ellam
 Pugazhum Iraivan Oruvanukke’ – it’s one more turn to express his gratitude for 
his TAMIL. The song starts off with slow-rhythms of 6/8 March on soft-guitars 
later with slow-stringed running notes. The Tamil lyrics tuned in complete 
Hollywood style happen to be the best flavors. Totting up to the best panoramas 
is the unique-patterned rhythm on scissors. Sound engineering has been 
marvelously performed… Doubtlessly, KURU KURU is the best pick of soundtrack.

Jason and Cynthia SuiteRealms of stringed instruments as it keep playing on 
various octaves. The melodic notes are played on solo guitar and Cello joins 
the instrumentation in latter part. Merely after couple of minutes, the song is 
shifted to higher scales and it goes on with same notes. Trombones and oboes 
are played in final part. Moreover, it’s the best song that sweeps all
 on your senses.

NANAIt’s a Spanish-styled hip-hop with Blaaze’s specific vocalisms on rap 
lines. The beats over the synchronized drum pads keeps repeating while fill-ins 
over Brasses and trumpets over synthesizers does takes you straight into those 
ambiences.

TOUR OF THE VILASIf you ever spellbound listening to ‘SAJNA SAJNA’, Rahman 
delivers the same tune over instrumentals. All through the track, the scales 
are raised and lowered. Beats over Congo-drums with vibes mingled in makes it 
sound yet more embellished. More than all, Rahman has utilized more instruments 
on various parts, say, like cymbals, solo violin, flute and pan flutes.

MEETING MARCELSounds quite unique from previous numbers… It offers the touch of

just playing the music continuously in loop...So many genres in it...The
music that kicks off with wild african drums followed by perfectly matching
Guitar progressions; something that I've never heard combination
though...Great to hear the wind instruments after some time...Really brings
home the vintage Rahman...At times, feels like this is going to make wonders
like how Roja did in India...As said earlier, it's very true that AR is not
just composing world music but he composes a world of music! I bet this
music is going to be the talk of tinseltown!

Jon Favreau Reveals Reshoots For "Couples Retreat"

Angeles, CA (CNS) - Jon Favreau is reshooting some scenes for his
upcoming comedy. The "Iron Man" director has revealed that "Couples
Retreat" needs to re-shoot some scenes.
The Universal Pictures
comedy centers on four couples who go on a tropical island resort for a
couple's retreat. While, one of the couples is there to work on their
marriage, the others got tagged along in for the ride, not realizing
that the therapy sessions are mandatory.
Favreau wrote and stars
on the film alongside Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Faizon Love, Malin
Akerman, Kristin Davis, and Kristen Bell.
The film is set for an October 9 release date, but it looks like production 
isn't finished yet.
Favreau
posted on his Twitter account on Wednesday, "Just got sent script
pages. Preparing for Couples Retreat reshoots tomorrow. No rest for the
weary."
He did not specify how much scenes they have to reshoot,
but the actor/filmmaker said that he is prepping for a scene with
Vaughn and his "movie wife" Davis.
He followed up the post on
Friday with "Tomorrow is last day acting in Couples Retreat reshoots. I
am looking forward to getting back to my day job on Iron Man."
